I had a terrible experience with West Vet after they charged me almost $300 to do absolutely nothing with my injured cat. I came here to get some help for him & let me tell you they were WONDERFUL!!!!!!!! Superior customer service & they were amazing with my cat Ziggy. The woman that helped me up front was Michelle was so kind & she helped us out so effortlessly that I bawled my eyes out in the car on the way home with my Ziggy boy because I was so grateful. Thank you Idaho Humane Society!!!!

After my 18 year old cat passed away in June, I wasn't sure if I was ever gonna be ready. Then some feral kittens showed up- and I realized just how ready I was. Not only did these folks let me borrow traps for those little ones, but we went to the main adoption center and met Willow (Moira at the center). She's made me her human in less than 5 hours, and this shelter made her adoption easier than anything ever. Super clean facility with excellent folks who seem to really care and aren't just about charging crazy prices like some I've been too. They make it so the pets can actually be rescued.

They are not humane I called two weeks begging for them to help My ESA animal at bird street shelter,my 13 yr old ESA dog was sick and yes I actual had her that Long! I explained I was Dissabled only on SSI couldn't afford to go to another place. They lie say there busy when there not! Give you the run around will tell you to go to another Urgent care animal hospital. There is no other place in the valley that has payment plans for people with no credit and there is no other place with affordable prices. My fur baby didn't have to suffer and I watched her suffer! After reffering me to west vet I got the same response, it's all about money with these people, they just said sorry our hands are tied maybe reach out to local churches. Today 7/20 my dog passed away and I had no where to dispose of her body but was told to take her to the old shelter on Dorman street in Boise, when I got there I spoke with a lady in back parking lot explained what happened, she told me to go around front with my deceased Dog and someone would help me. They walked by but never once helped or bothered to open the front door. She was not just a ESA dog actually recommended by a local Doctor in the valley, she was part of the family! When the people who work there are old and sick, and broke I hope the insurance company tells them all sorry our hands are tied but calls themselves HUMANE. They are nothing but about money IDK why there even was a secondary shelter built just a waste of ementy buildings with barley any DOGS a waste of taxes and Grants. It would of costed nothing to have moment of empathy and compassion. This company don't deserve even zero stars - Negative stars. Sorry My hands are tied!!! I want the whole treasure valley to know what kind of people are running these places! Her name was Zoey and was a Lhasa Apso not some mut she could of lived to be twenty and needed help with her teeth! This company is cruel not Humane! It's the cruel society! The Dissabled and elderly are often told by Doctors to get ESA and this is how you treat us. But yet our taxes from working are whole life's go to this crap! Yes the snotty lady with fake nails and designer cloths will say why adopt them clearly they need more education on ESA less time on them fake nails more time cleaning kennels! The grants should go to our VETS, elderly, people actually Dissabled on socially security disability with established Doctor locally not people who just Get ESA letter online because they don't want to pay pet rent!

Adopted and ready to go home!

The moment I checked in to view kitties , the facility is clean, well staffed, and the adoption process was smooth

Adopted this cute guy from here and he's been the BEST puppy!! Idaho Humane Society really helped us find the perfect little addition to our family . highly highly suggest adopting a puppy !

Very sick pup a few days later.

My daughter adopted a puppy on Friday, Oct. 20 (her name was Spot there). In less than 24 hours it was obvious the pup had kennel cough. Because the Humane Society vet wasn't available, my daughter took the puppy to a vet who confirmed kennel cough, prescribed antibiotics, and said to come back if things don't get better in a couple of days. Two days latter, the little dog was much worse, listless, and had stopped eating. My daughter took it back to the vet, who after more expensive tests, diagnosed the puppy with pneumonia. My daughter called and spoke with management at the Humane Society, to let them know about the puppy's sickness, which she obviously left the Humane Society with, and to see if anything could be done to assist with the large amount of money she'd spent to save the dog. She was told that there was nothing they could do, that the puppy had been with them less than 24 hours and so had not had a chance to be evaluated or treated for any health concerns. There are two big issues here: 1) It's unethical for an organization called Humane Society to not evaluate, treat and care for an animal prior to letting it be adopted. 2) I absolutely believe there is something they could do to compensate my daughter for the significant amount of expenses she's incurred, due to their failure to care for a sick animal. They could easily refund her the adoption fee, or offer complimentary veterinary services. I'm really disappointed by the lack of ethics and accountability demonstrated by the Idaho Humane Society.

This guy was such a nice and handsome 2 year old cat. So adorable

So my friend and I visited the humane society yesterday. It was my first time and I wanted to go see all the lovely animals and yes they were well taken care of and although not a place where any animal wants to be, because they want their forever family so they can enjoy life the way it should be. The staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about each one and we got to know some of them a bit better. Their kennels were clean and you could tell the animals felt comfortable. I know that my next dog will be a rescue as they deserve so much better then to be in a shelter. I wish I could take one of them home but I travel too much and I have a lovely boxer that takes a lot of my time. He loves other dogs but 2 is just too much at this time. Again kudos to the society for doing what they do!

I follow IHS on Facebook and have seen all the amazing things to help all kinds of animals find their forever home. They go above and beyond to care for them! I also encourage everyone to donate what they can to this amazing organization. Whether it's $1 or $100 - I can tell you it'll be 1,000% worth it to the animals in their care. I adopted my shih tzu and it was the best decision I've ever made. IHS made it so easy and was definitely very helpful walking me through the process. Because of IHS, I have a new member to my little family.

Proof that fear can be trained out of a puppy that young.

We were rejected by this organization because we are "out of policy" I offered to provide references, vet references, pictures of our old cat, etc. We were emotionally engaged (at the start) with two little guys, and this place rejected me and offered me another cat. The vets Roxie has seen there were caring, gentle, compassionate, concerned and genuinely interested in my dogs health. Educated, experienced and qualified to provide exceptional care for my animal. They have given financial assistance to me for my dog in the past more than one time. I've been ever so grateful for! Idaho Humane Society staff is courteous, they communicate between staff great. Professional opinions on one occasion that the mass removed from my dog ( a different dog) was not cancerous and recommended it wasn't necessary to send of for further research to find out if the mass was cancerous. She was accurate! Sadly this particular vet that provided care for the mass left the Idaho Humane Society. I believe she relocated. All my experiences with IHS have been good except one time about 13 years ago. My dog at that time was very sick, the vet treated me like I was abusing my dog. My dog was terminal, I didn't realize how sick my dog was. I got him from a rescue and I believe when I got him he was already very ill. Which I later discovered after the exam at IHS. The vet recommended to euthinize. I was in shock. The vet refused to let me leave with my dog and said the dog had to go into the hospital or be immediately euthinized. I couldn't afford the hospital care and the dog was obviously at the end of it's life. I wanted to spend until the next morning with my dog before I had him put down. The vet treated me terrible and basically tried to keep us hostage at The IHS. When the vet left the exam room for a few minutes, I immediately left out a side door with my dog and went home. Later animal control showed up at my door wanting to view my dog and take possession of my animal because of that vet! I had beat them to the punch and already contacted Kuna Pet Care Clinic for an appointment to have the dog euthinized the next morning. Once I informed animal control officer that no she wasn't going to take the dog and that I had made arrangements, the officer verified it with Kuna Vet Pet Care Clinic. And then IHS vet and animal control officer couldn't take action any further. Kuna Vet Care Clinic was extremely compassionate and helpful with the services to end the dogs life. It was a horrible experience with IHS. But this was many years ago and I'm sure that vet is no longer with IHS. Also I believe a vet like that one was a very rare vet in terms of vets aren't typically lacking compassion, treating animal owners like they are animal abusers. Vets usually aren't demanding and controlling either. I think it was a isolated experience. I don't believe IHS would ever have another vet similar to that one. I definitely highly recommend IHS. More than I would other vets and vet hospitals such as West Vet. They have horrible reviews.
