Last September I took my 27' Ranger Tug to Canyon Marine…read moreto have the 1000hr maintenance done on the Yamaha 300HP outboard at the recommendation of my usual boat shop. The tech at my normal shop didn't feel qualified to do that level of service and said Casey at Canyon was more experienced. When I picked up the boat Canyon had done over $500 worth of work I had specifically told them not to do, that I would do myself. They also DIDN'T do some of the items I had requested they perform. When I got the boat home I found the oil level overfilled, so I pumped out some oil. It looked VERY unusual for brand new oil, like dark tea with a reddish tinge. I questioned whether it had even been changed but when I had it analyzed the lab said it looked clean so I dropped the issue. This May we launched the boat in Anacortes, WA and I started the motor for the first time since picking it up from Canyon Marine. We quickly discovered that the head was cracked and the motor was ruined. I called Canyon Marine at the time and left a voicemail message with the manager telling him about the failure. No one called me back. After I knew what the problem was and what the replacement motor cost would be I sent a letter to the manager at Canyon Marine detailing the issue and asking for a refund of the $2573 they charged me for the work. No one answered me. This motor cost tens of thousands of dollars to replace and all I asked for was what they charged me to ruin my outboard. The motor was running fine when I hauled the boat out last August before taking it to Canyon Marine. I had just run it from the Puget Sound to Alaska and back with a retired police officer who can attest to this. No one could determine the root cause of the failure so I can't prove Canyon Marine did this but it seems highly likely. Worked when I dropped it off, didn't work next time I started it after they serviced it. The customer service I experienced with this business has been truly abysmal.

Less than 30 minutes on the water and dead again would not auto stow. We have taken it to them twice once in the dead of winter to give them plenty of time to take to trouble shoot it and figure out what was wrong. It appears they did nothing though they charged us a pretty penny.

Idaho Water Sports is the local Bennington Dealer. I needed some work done on my boat when I received it, such as adding a ski towbar and having it winterized. Usually, a boat or RV Dealership will prioritize the people who purchased directly from them over people who purchased somewhere else. However, that was not the case here. Bekah in the Service department got me in right away and was very pleasant to work with. Billy, the service manager was also very pleasant to work with. Both Becca and Billy were very helpful, friendly and professional. They obviously care about their customers. They got my boat in and out quickly and everything was done to perfection. If you're looking for a new boat or you're looking to have your boat serviced, I would highly recommend Idaho Water Sports.

There was no pressure to buy at that moment he gave us time to think about it and call at a later date when we had made up our mind. Once we knew it was the boat for us Chad helped us with all the paperwork and even added on a free Un winterization package and offered to take us out on the lake for the first time. We learned how to use our boat and explored a new to us lake. Honestly, I thought buying a used boat we would not get the service as if we bought a brand-new boat, but everyone at prestige treated us as if we bought a brand-new boat.

I couldn't have asked for a better experience. We did some shopping in their proshop area for all of our gear and they offered us a generous discount for purchasing our boat with them! We did a demo on the water the day we picked it up and learned about all the features on the boat. We had a minor issue once we got back to the house, but Chad was there to answer our questions after hours and fixed the problem without hesitation. He spent quite a bit of time teaching us how to operate the ballast system and how to use all the accessories on the boat. Shortly after taking…read moredelivery of our new Arctic Fox Edge trailer we discovered two major issues: the refrigerator will not cool below 58 degrees (rendering it useless and unsafe for food storage) and the factory Arctic Fox rug has permanently stained the linoleum flooring due to a plasticizer migration defect. When we brought these issues to Happy Camper they immediately blamed Northwood Manufacturing. While Northwood did step up to approve the replacement linoleum material under warranty , they refused to cover the labor to install by our local dealer. Only way they would replace it is if the trailer was brought back to their factory. Happy Camper is claiming the trailer "didn't leave their lot like that." A plasticizer chemical stain takes over a week to form and bleed into the flooring proving this defect was brewing right on their lot. We bought a brand new premium trailer under a 1-year bumper-to bumper warranty to avoid these exact issues. Instead of honoring their warranty, Happy Camper and Northwood are playing the blame game, leaving us with spoiled food, stained flooring, and a broken promise. "Unacceptable service."

I boneheadedly drove my cousin's airstream under a low pass hotel roof on Memorial Day weekend…read more Called Airstream adventures from Winnemucca and got in same day. They came in under their work estimates for 2 of the three jobs they did and were prompt in responding to queries. I am not an expert on airstreams so I don't know what to expect in terms of cost but I was not surprised. The total work for a doorknob repair, bearing/axle exam and repacking, and bodywork for the above collision took about 45 days; I was not in a hurry, and it was a lot of work, so no complaints there. Finished work was beautiful. When the transport company for my cousin showed up a week early, they called me and were able to release the trailer to the transporter when my wife went over in person-- the right move for the situation, since I was out of cell phone range. Al Martinez responded to texts promptly when I asked for work updates. All in all an excellent experience in helping me in an unfortunate situation.
