I thought I already wrote a review, but I can't find it, so I am writing one now after returning the first carb kit that I received that didn't match the inside of my carb and the gasket that was in there. I can't read Carl's cycle less than five stars because I have come here for parts accessories and I've never had an actual bad experience, just a little bit of an irritation. When I ordered the parts, the parts department guy that I had spoke with, Kyle, after asking if a VIN number would help he didn't decline it, but basically said that it's not necessary because with the information of an 07 Honda shadow 750 that's all the information he needs is what he claimed. So back in August 8 of 2023 I came to get a carb rebuild kit and spark plugs for my 07 Honda shadow 750 aero. The unfortunate thing about these carb kids that I have come to find out today is that they don't keep them in stock and they have to order them so I have to wait at least a week to receive it. The reason that this is an irritation is because I have to wait at least a week in order to find out if it's the correct one, and this is where the irritation came in. I got a steal of a deal because I was able to find someone that was willing to do a carb job and a possible tune for only $75 on a single carb bike and so I ordered the part get to spark plugs and once the part came in, I scheduled to go over and have the service done And once the mechanic took the car Baugh and opened it up. The pictures show that the gasket is incorrect. It's not the right one. Not only that but I was given 2 spark plugs and my bike has 4. Of course, two of them were put in which were the more difficult ones in case I wanted to try to put the spark plugs in myself but I'm still short two and I wasted $75 or not exactly wasted but basically paid $75 to find out that I have the wrong gasket. The biggest reason that I'm posting this right now is because when I came in today August 25 two exchange the carb kit for hopefully the correct one. I was asking the representative or parts person if I was given the wrong carb kit or if there's a possibility of having different ones for different bikes, and he didn't really give me a straight answer as I think, he was probably trying to cover for whoever jacked it up before. So then I asked him what I can do in order to prevent this in the future. And what did he tell me, if you provide a VIN. The funny thing is Mr. Kyle was sitting to his left when I said I did offer to provide a VIN. Not only did Kyle not say a damn word, but he kept looking over at that gasket kit and when the representative that I was working with, went to get the other two spark plugs that I needed, Kyle grab the carb kit and started doing something on the computer, which I'm guessing is looking to see how he messed up and gave me the wrong one, but nonetheless, he never said a word. Not sorry man my bad, no excuse on why it should've been the correct part, nothing. So again, I can't reach Carl's Cycle West, and five stars because I actually do like the place and Kyle could've been having a bad day or maybe you just made a mistake or maybe I said some thing that made him choose the wrong part, I have no idea as I don't really know a whole lot about bikes, except for how to use them and minor repairs But it is pretty irritating that not only does he give me the wrong part, but he gives me not enough spark plugs and then when I come in and start making comments that were specifically geared to try to find out what went wrong, he didn't say a word, and this is on him not on the store. So do I recommend Carl cycle, absolutely. If I come in here in the future, and have issues like this with multiple parts, people or sales people or anything like that, then I'll probably write another review. They won't be a five star but as of right now, I don't really have any reason to write anything other than five stars because Carl cycle is a pretty awesome place to Purchase vehicles and parts and service. Other than this little hiccup is actually really good, despite what's being said, and the other reviews. read more

Lost a bolt on the trail while on a dirtbike trip in Idaho city... called these guys and got ahold of AJ in parts and he did everything he could to make sure I got the part I needed. I get down there to pick up the bolt and it's different than what we thought over the phone. Instead of telling me sorry good luck, AJ and the whole parts team looked everywhere in their parts and asked each other how they could find me what I needed... turns out someone had a bag of random bolts in the back and they had the exact bolt I needed. I'm amazed at how much they went through to find me this bolt and I'm extremely grateful. Now I can ride tomorrow. Thanks AJ and the whole parts team at Carls. I went into this place with the idea of purchasing a new Polaris RZR Pro R 4. My friend and I walked in the door and 10min later walked out. we were not greeted when entering. We walked past multiple sales people sitting in chairs and walking around. We entered and exited 4 different floor models. Not one person approached my friend or I once while we were there. I guess their time is more important than mine. They lost a big sale and potential return customer. I have not read any of the yelp reviews but I'm sure others have had this experience. read more

Service department is terrible at service. I'll start with saying that Ranger with sales was great when we purchased our side by side over a year ago. The parts department was good as we purchased accessories. The service department is what caused me to come here to review because they have been terrible to deal with. I received a "stop-ride" notice for my 2021 Turbo S with a recall to fix the clutch and a few other items. I've called 4 separate times in the last few weeks to schedule my recall. Each time, they take my name and number, and say they'll call me back. I have not received a call back. I'll try again tomorrow. May update if I get anywhere. read more

It's a pretty cool show room with lots of shiny bikes and things from several different brands. i had stopped by because i'm just beginning to think of an ATV (UTV?) for a snow plow use. So, for wanting to learn cost and features i came up empty handed. None of the bikes had prices listed (even MSRP), and i did not see much describing the different features. I'm an old guy who likes to sniff and touch in person ;-) Although the place was packed with staff, i was never greeted - so if you have same experience - realize its shared by all. Perhaps their website is more informative, but i'm always put off when prices are not listed. read more

We needed a tire changed during a week long trip. Boise was right in the middle of the trip when the tire needed replacement. We called Tom at Carl's and he was more than helpful. Just thought I'd give them another try! Called looking for exhaust parts. Parts guy put me on hold for 5 minutes and comes back saying, "so what are you looking for?" I had told him when I called what I wanted. Proceeded to explain again what I was looking for. He said, "I'm new to SXS's so bare with me!" Why would they hire anyone who doesn't know the product???? In the end, he didn't have what I needed and didn't know how long it would take to get. Such a waste of time! I will buy off the internet! Screw this place! I don't know exactly who Carls appeals to. Every time I go there I'm greeted by people who don't seem to give a damned about anything. Customer service absolutely sucks. I recently went there to receive a parts order of over $2K after being assured the parts were all there. I went to the parts counter and some neandrethol shoved a bag of parts at me and dismissed me out of had. I asked "wasn't there supposed to be a windscreen with this order". "I dunno" said the neandrethol. I said, "can you look at the order please?", so he did, but then asked "what is this going on?". I mean, my god. he had the order with explicit part numbers on it and was asking me what it went on? Finally, he said he needed to check the warehouse. After about 20 minutes he came back and shrugged and said "the windscreen is in the ranger outside" and dismissed me outright. I called the company that had placed the order and asked them what to do. They then spoke to the person they placed the order through and called me back. After an hour of standing there waiting for them to get their shit together I finally gave up. They still hadn't figured out where all the parts were. I left. This is the first review I've left for them but I've done business with them for years and this kind of behavior is repeated every time. I wouldn't recommend Carl's to my worst enemy. Bought my bike here back in 2021 and had an amazing sales experience. Any issue Iv had with my bike is taken care almost immediately with the service department. Jonathan waited a whole half hour for me today after closing just to make sure I could drive my new tires across town for them to put on my bike the next day. Not the first time they have gone above and beyond to make sure things are taken care of for you. My dad has bought from here, I have bought from here, and now my best friend has just purchased his new bike from here as well. Awesome spot. Next time you will except my cash as a tip! read more

This place is a giant shiny toy store for grown-ups, or at least those that appear to be grownups on the outside and are able to afford giant shiny toys by going to grownup jobs. The sales staff was knowledgeable and informative and even tolerated me while I sat on things and made "vroom vroom" noisesI they have a little bit of everything from dirt bikes to side-by-side's to crotch rockets, they even have some wicked new thing called a slingshot that looks like a Street legal transformer race car... Same goes for the parts department which was well stocked, well staffed and well able to answer questions about fit, performance, etc. Their prices were reasonable and they had most things available without having to special order, at least for what I needed in terms of accessories. I did have a pretty bumpy first experience with the service department at this dealership. At the end of the day, wrapping up the experience however, I am happy to report that the level of oversight and customer service provided by the General Manager, Jack Struthers has been exemplary. throughout the experience, he has been available to me via phone, email, and in person while at the dealership. Having ridden dirt bikes for more years than I would like to admit, I know that The an unscheduled departure from "Plan A" is anything but unusual and that we all crash or tip over. The important part is how you act after you have an "off". When confronted with problems that needed attention in the service department, Jack and his service manager located and addressed the problems, then got back up and focused their eyes on the trail ahead. As a result, I would have no hesitation returning to the dealership or recommending Carl's Cycles to anyone local or passing through that needed help, or even something new and shiny to replace what they rode in on. read more

Spoke with Nate twice he took my phone number both times and still no call back. Also spoke with Ryan twice with no call back either time all these calls were an effort to get some accessories installed on the two new motorcycles So I called my sales guy Dakota and asked for his help with service he said he was on it and he would call me back. I am a long time customer at Carl's Cycle. I have found the owner, Jack, to be very knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to setting up off-road and adventure motorcycles. The sales manager, Cory, knows dirt bikes very well. I have been happy with the sales team. All of the employees that I interact with ride or participate in some kind of Motorsport. I like this because they can speak with a better understanding of their products. The service department has always been able to help me when I could not take care of maintenance or a repair on my own. They have done suspension work for me on several dirt bikes, and after having used many of the suspension companies in the country, I have found their work to be as good if not better. In dealing with them over the years, there have obviously been times when something didn't go as planned but they have always worked to make the situation right. Overall I feel like Carl's has treated me very well. read more

just now Was looking for a Polaris general 4 seater. Got some info off Carl's website. I'm new to this world They had priced them at $16,299 then Carl's sent me an email with the description of the machine and the priced listed twice in an email. I called the next morning when they opened to put a deposit down( i was out of town so the wife was going to bring cash down and do the rest on the 2.99). The sales man Ryan)said hold up i will call you back. The next morning GM Chris called and said that Polaris was the one who handled Carl's website, and that they mispriced it. Something didn't feel right, so i called Polaris. Polaris Called Carls to confirm they have nothing to do with Carl's website. Polaris told me to call and talk to Brain. I called was talking to Brian and got the run around. I was sick of the run around and emailed Jack the owner. He called me right away and said he was leaving town call him next week. I waited and called him, we talked and he was just like ya Polaris does the website, so told him i talked to Polaris about that, he then said its a 3rd recommended by Polaris who handles the website. I told him ok someone messed up, your guys lied to me several times about who messed up blamed it on the manufacturer, blamed it on me for not putting a deposit down. I told him i understand your a business and might lose some money lets work something out that makes us both happy. Jack really didn't seem to interested in that. When i told him i was in another dealers parking lot, he said i will call u back in a few , he did and came back with an offer. They other dealer was still cheaper and treated me like they wanted my business. Polaris called me for an update and really understood my frustration, and wants to help. So after a dreadful experience with a local local Utah KTM dealer and having a bike yanked away after a horrid set up and months of waiting I was out in the cold until I got hold of Mark obi one kenobi- He had one 690 R without money down on it (Only one within 4 states) Drove 11 hours total in howling wind- Bike was ready upon arrival and looked like a runway model, Simple process, No BS, loved the place just wish they were in Utah. Well I went in today to buy two new dual sport tires. They told me over the phone they would price match and also do the install for free so I was thrilled I'd be getting a good deal and I wouldn't have to fuss with doing the tires myself. I get there and the salesman in parts was very friendly, although I was told on the phone they could price match the tires when I got there he couldn't do a 100% match. The difference was only $10 and being I would have to wait for shipping from the other company I decided to go ahead and do it especially with the "free" installation. Well.. the parts salesman sends me over to service to schedule the tire mounting, I already had my rims in my truck and was ready to hand everything over on the spot. As the service tech is taking my info he keeps looking at the fee chart for labor and is punching buttons on the calculator. Puzzled I asked.. "I was told that installation was free if I bought the tires here?" He says... "only for dirt tires not street." I explain that these tires are going on a dirt bike that is street legal, they are the most aggressive DOT approved tires sold. We go back and fourth for a minute then seeing it will get no where I go back to the sales rep who sold me the tires. He comes over to service and he starts to argue with the service people, mind you I the customer am standing right here watching this whole charade. The parts salesman was very apologetic and told me unfortunately I would have to pay to have them installed. They did give me a very slight discount because I bought the tires from them but it was around 10%, the installation was over half the cost of just one of the tires. Mind you I can do the install myself but I wanted to get out and ride today and so I just told them to please complete the work. The entire time I stayed cool and collected, I never got agitated or showed I was irritated only slightly annoyed. At this point I would of been fine with just paying for it and calling it a day but when I went to pick up my rims and new tires he hands me an invoice with an astronomical price... I look it over and they bumped the tires costs up to full retail and charged for full installation + parts they said I needed to have replaced. At this point I was very upset feeling ripped off and wishing I would of just ordered my tires or bought from another dealer in the area. I told the rep about the price match and he stated "let me see what I can do" but he was not re-assuring and I was very worried now that the new tires were mounted I was backed into a corner. Thankfully the parts salesman had my back and immediately told them to discount the tires to the amount we previously agreed on. I felt inclined to write this review because I wanted to warn others of the bait and switch approach used, I don't blame the parts rep for telling me the tire would be mounted free but I do feel that if the customer is told one thing they need to honor it. I also felt like the left hand didn't know what the right was doing and there needs to be better communication betwean departments. I might go back again to buy parts but I will certainly never deal with their service department again. I read the Google reviews before posting my yelp review and a lot of people mentioned how arrogant the staff is. Most of the parts guys were very nice and friendly, the service rep that helped me I would say fell into the latter category but what do you expect when dealing with dealerships, this is typically the standard in this business. Just make sure to check your invoices before and after the work is completed and if you have concerns get it in writing before you let them perform any work. I would of only offered up mere one star for Carl Cycle's based on this experience but I had to give two because the parts salesman and one of the floor salesman I talked to where actually very nice guys. read more

I have been a customer of Carls for over 10years and drive 500 miles ONE WAY to have them build my snowmobiles. I have raced professionally and been in over 10 sled movies. There is not another dealer in the country that I would trust to build my sled. Truly the best in the industry. They are also great with KTM and RZRs: you will not find a better dealer. I'm an out of town person from northern Idaho and was down visiting family in the Boise area this last weekend. On my ride down ID-55, I noticed that I was getting some surging in the lower gears so I immediately went in to the first dealership that Google spit out and it was Carl's. Not only did they walk me through the worn parts of my chain and how that occurs (I'm the second owner of this bike and it obviously got rode a lot harder than I ride it, because the chain should still be good to go) but they made a tech immediately available (in spite of the many machines they had in the shop and the people waiting for them) and did and adjust/lube job on the spot. They adjusted it so well to the tightest spot that I hardly notice the issue now, and I should be good to go until I can make the time to get the chain and sprockets replaced. Also, the emergency adjustment and their time cost me next to nothing (less than $20). I was so impressed with the service, knowledge and willingness to drop everything to make my bike safe to ride and get me home over 300 miles away that I will probably just have them do the chain job next time I'm in town. When you have a dealership close to home and you're willing to bike 300 miles to have a routine repair completed, that says something about the shop. I can't comment on the negative experiences listed here, but I highly recommend this place. Everyone from the cashiers to technicians were friendly and knew what they were doing. I wish I could say the same about my home dealership. read more

The reviews that said there are some arrogant people to deal with at Carl's is IMO is correct. Parts Department: Some are. The woman who works in parts is very nice others not so much. Service Department: The service writers are generally ok and trying to help and keep their job. Techs and management are weak. Sales Department: Don't know. I've never bought a titled piece of equipment from Carl's. The clothing/equipment purchases I've made have been on par with other dealers. Cashiers: Just doing their job but pleasant. My daughter went into Carls Cycle Sales yesterday with cash in hand wanting to purchase a new motorcycle. After 10 minutes of being ignored and not helped PR acknowledged by anyone she left. The next day (today) I called first thing in the morning and asked to speak with the sales manager who I rediscovered is named Corey. Left very polite message asking to be called back. Two hours later...no call back. Called again and was told he was talking to customers and to leave a message...so I did again. His message states the he will call you right back immediately. Do you think I have received a call back? No. It seems he will only call back if it is something he wants to talk about...evidently not interested in handling an uncomfortable situation. No one in our family will ever purchase anything from Carl's Cycle Sales. read more

Avoid the service department if you can. They had my 05 & 06 GSXRs for six weeks, to the day. $586.50 later they managed to complete three service recalls (free), troubleshot a starting issue (fuel pump), and discover a previously non-existent "engine noise". The bulk of the cost came when I asked if they could tell me why the 06 was dying when I released the throttle. I was told, after a minute or so of running the engine during the trouble shooting process, the tech heard loud, disconcerting engine noises, so he shut the engine off. The recommendation was to open the top end. I approved. Zach told me the tech drained the oil and cut open the filter and found "metal shavings". Side note, this bike has just under 4,700 (yes FOUR THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED) miles on it and the oil and filter had ZERO miles on them. When they found nothing in the top end they recommended opening the bottom end. This would put the cost well over $1000 just for labor. I did not approve. I told Zach I wanted the bikes back and asked if they were able to diagnose the dying problem. A couple weeks later I spoke to Patrick the service manager. He was able to find out the tech thought the dying was related to the engine noise. Another side note, the dying issue started 12 years earlier after I installed a Power Commander. I have my bikes back, dirty as heck. I replaced the fuel filter on the 05 for $30.73 (Amazon) and about two hours of my time (Carl's estimated close to $1,000). Now I have to buy a new oil filter and oil for the 06 and find another repair shop. read more
