I've been going there for years. I made a terrible decision. I decided to trust them for periodontal work. They did a connective tissue graft to fix receding gums. The periodontist seemed reputable. NO ONE called me to check on me, odd, but I guess that's how they roll. But after the procedure I noticed I could see the top of my jaw for my lower gums. Honestly it looks worse than before they touched it. I called Sunnyvale smiles and was rudely told to take it up with the periodontist even though they referred me to him. He's out of another office and goes there once a month. I've left about 6 messages for the periodontist and no one has returned my call. Just use these people for cleanings and maybe Invisalign if you are feeling brave. I would take a picture of my new smile but I don't want to give anyone nightmares. The 3 stars is for the cleanings they are good at. It's the periodontist that lowered their score and the lack of care for a patient that had a procedure done at THEIR facility and recommended by them. read more

I show up for my appointment on time and they call don't acknowledge me until 30 minutes after my time. The lady has the audacity asking if I want to reschedule since they cannot do the cleaning. Ideal Dental Sunnyvale TX (part of DECA Dental Group) has been the worst dental experience I've ever had. If you're considering Invisalign, orthodontics, or cosmetic dentistry in the Dallas area, stay far away unless you enjoy unnecessary stress and broken promises. My Invisalign treatment was supposed to take months but stretched into years, filled with errors. One of their rotating dentists, without my consent, decided to cut my teeth to make room for alignment. The cuts were sloppy, which future orthodontists confirmed as poorly executed but thankfully fixable. Ideal Dental constantly switched dentists, each seemingly unaware of my treatment plan. They originally sold me on a 5-year smile guarantee, including laser whitening, a retainer, and trays at the end. But when my treatment ended, they changed the policies, claiming I needed to pay more to continue. Each time I pushed back, they offered discounts as if they were doing me a favor. I was tired of fighting, and my OCD was triggered by the half-done work. When I finally accepted the situation and asked for my promised whitening and retainer, they once again tried to charge me. After pressing the issue, they admitted it should've been included. I went through the in-office whitening process and saw almost no difference. To make things worse, they ran out of gel for my trays and made me come back, only to try to charge me again. I reached out to DECA Dental Group, the BBB, and Ideal Dental directly to resolve this, but got no response. I've given Ideal Dental every chance to make things right, but they've let me down at every turn. Save yourself the hassle, time, and money--if you need more than just a cleaning, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. Two other orthodontists said my case was a simple fix and couldn't believe the issues I'd been put through. I even found a gel on Amazon that worked better than what Ideal Dental provided. I would highly recommend trying a reputable dentist if you're in the Dallas area and need orthodontic or cosmetic work done. TL;DR: Avoid Ideal Dental Sunnyvale TX unless you're okay with broken promises, sloppy work, and paying extra for services you were told were included. Absolutely disgusted with the way I was treated by the receptionist at this clinic. I called on a Wednesday to set up an emergent appointment for Friday since that was the earliest they could get me in. I called at 11 AM on Friday to confirm my 2 PM appointment since I never received any new client forms to my email or a confirmation that I even had my appointment. I was left on hold for six minutes then hung up on I called back only for the receptionist to pick up the phone and immediately placed me back on hold without even saying a word to me. I then sat on hold for 45 minutes. I decided to grab my other phone and call the clinic ensure enough they picked up. I told the man that picked up the phone what had just happened at first he didn't even apologize just asked me for my name and last name. I gave it to him and then explained to him what happened he gave me some monotone speech about how they care about their clients and pride themselves in being professional.. I decided after this experience to go ahead and just cancel my appointment. I didn't feel comfortable going in after the receptionist was so rude to me. I will absolutely never come here. It's a shame I didn't even get any help. I'm sure the dentist is just fine though I never met them. My husband and I have been dental patients for several years now at Ideal Dental in Sunnyvale, we started going there went it was Sunnyvale smiles. We have now changed dentist because of the way they treated us. On his last visit a month ago, the dentist told him he had cavities in all 4 of his wisdom teeth and they needed to be removed. He has been seeing them every 3 months for deep cleaning, He asked them since he has been coming there every 3 months for deep cleaning why hasn't nobody told him this. He was told they did not know. MAGICALLY, they had a dentist there that day that could remove them at the same time of this visit. My husband told them he would have to think about it. Then I started experiencing tooth pain on a Friday, the receptionist told me I could come to my scheduled appointment the following Wednesday and discuss it with the dentist then. I went to an emergency visit on Saturday to another dentist. I am so thankful I did, because it was only sore gums between my teeth which he took care of. I made appts with him for cleaning of my husband and my teeth. We were informed my husband does not have cavities in his wisdom teeth and did not need to have them removed. I have called the office several times and asked to speak with the office manager with no return call and have even called the complaint line and spoke with them with no return call. Now I am left to wonder if I even needed all the crowns that the dentist there insisted i needed. Which I paid several thousand dollars out of pocket the part my insurance did not pay. NO other dentist has ever told me this. Were they even necessary? Did my husband even need deep cleaning? Guess we will never know for sure. That's no problem -- we drove back and they glued it back on. Now, 18 hours later, the other side fell off. I tried to make things right with the office first. I called this morning and asked to talk with the office manager. She's with a patient and will call me as soon as she's done. It's been 6 hours now. No return call. Now what do I do? I went here because of a painful molar. The dentist gave me a very quick exam and immediately recommended a root canal. He then ushered the front desk staff to go over some over priced financing options! No thanks! I went for a second opinion to another dentist, found out that the discomfort is due to teeth grinding. Now that I wear a mouth guard and I'm pain free. I've avoided an unnecessary and costly procedure! My first visit went well! I had pain in my tooth and needed a root canal and everyone was very friendly, I scheduled my follow-up and put it in my calendar to remind me of the time. Shortly after I got Covid and had to quarantine. I got texts that there were openings available to go in sooner but since I was in quarantine I could not accept it. I cleared my negative Covid test as well as completed my quarantine time and was able to keep my appointment. I arrive 15 minutes early, call the office to enter, and they decided to cancel my appointment since I did not "confirm." They gave away my appointment even though I never cancelled. Was referred to Sunnyvale Smiles by my usual dentist at Ideal Dental in Rowlett. Having extreme wisdom tooth pain so it was time to have all four of my impacted teeth removed, plus another back molar that has always caused me problems. The oral surgeons travel around DFW so that's why some people say they 'never see the same doctor working' at this location. I don't find this unusual - Dr.Nelson is an amazing doctor and is most likely in high demand. Dr.Nelson was my oral surgeon and is is very sweet, very educational and honestly makes me laugh even when I'm extremely nervous. I am 26 having 4 impacted wisdom teeth pulled and 1 back molar removed. It was extremely nervous as I have never been under anesthesia before and even had a little breakdown while sitting in the chair. He was so gentle placing the IV that I hardly felt it and he makes great conversation while gently putting you to sleep. He made me feel so much better and Really made me feel as comfortable as possible for my first time doing any surgery. Knowledgeable, compassionate and they really took their time to answer all of my questions and concerns before putting me under. The nurses are all so sweet and make you feel so warm and welcoming. I love Dr.Nelsons office and staff and will definitely be sending my husband here when it's time for him to have all 4 of his wisdom teeth removed. Professional, compassionate, patient and understanding. They even had a nurse I could call post-op to ask her any questions almost any time do the day. If you need any Oral Surgery procedures.... Dr.Nelson is the guy to go to! I drive all the way from Rowlett to go see him and this is the best experience I've felt like I could have had with removing all four of my wisdom teeth. Recovery was detailed and they walked me through everything and answered all my questions/concerns before beginning my procedure which made me feel 100% better. I was a bit scared and had a little cry before going under the anesthesia, but Dr.Nelson and his staff helped me to laugh a little and make me so comfortable before beginning my wisdom teeth removal. HANDS DOWN - I love Dr.Nelson and will be back with my husband to have his wisdom teeth extracted by him in the future! read more

Came here because I wasn't having a good experience at my previous dental office. They're pretty efficient at starting you on time and the work is okay, but I seriously didn't even feel like I existed throughout my whole checkup. After filling out my paperwork I was called into the room by a dental hygienist who only ever spoke to me to ask if anything has been bothering me. She then proceeded to examine my mouth and performed a lot of different tests in my mouth without even telling me what she was doing. I had no idea what was going on cause she wouldn't give me a chance to ask questions nor would she explain anything that she was doing to me. Not too long after that she started to clean my teeth and I was caught off guard because she wasn't communicating to me at all what she was doing. In the middle of cleaning my teeth the dentist runs in and wanted to examine me real quick, very disorganized because I wasn't prepared to ask questions while in the middle of being tossed around in my checkup. She looked at my teeth extremely fast and recommended I get braces without looking at my x-rays, I told her my roots are too small for braces because it's a problem I've been having for all my life and she then realized I couldn't because she pulled up my x-rays at the end of my exam. What's the point of taking x-rays if the dentist is in too much of a rush to look at anything. Pretty sure the dentist spoke to me for leas than a minute and that was my exam. The hygienist then finished my cleaning and took off all the equipment and tried nudging me out of the room without even telling me my checkup was complete and I could check out. I truly felt like just a number being chunked out of another busy clinic that doesn't care to get to know a patient. I work in healthcare and the hygienist went about her work completely unprofessional not explaining anything to the patient or checking up if they're okay during their exam. Again, the work was okay, it was what I came for, but I already want to look for a different office if this practice relies on hygienists who don't communicate with their patients to do all the work while the dentist only jumps in for a minute. Hours are fantastic and always able to book an appointment. Dr Shah is always a pleasure and thorough when explaining of answering questions. I came in because my friend Ericka works there and I had recently relocated to Dallas and hadn't been to the dentist in awhile. The front desk staff was pleasant, paperwork was fairly easy and I didn't have to wait long to get into a chair and get my cleaning done. Everything went great and the hygienist was pleasant and did a great job and without any pain or trouble. Dr Tran introduced himself, took a look and I was pretty much good to go, they showed me costs for a nightguard if I wanted to get one but everything else was covered 100% so it was overall a great visit! Always giving me wrong information!! Their job is to inform and for the second time I have been given bad information that costs me. I was advised that I wouldn't qualify for Invisalign express a 6 month treatment priced at 3200 so I had to pay for the regular Invisalign a cost of 4500 dollars..I finished my plan in little over 4 months and although originally advised by Ericka (front desk staff)that I could get a refund if I finished my treatment earlier they are coming up with any and everything not to refund me the difference. I really wanted to like this office but it's clear you are a dollar sign, cause this is a business at the end of the day. It's so hard to find genuine providers. Dr.Tran is too pushy, Dr. Shah will recommend services you don't need ( she is no longer there) and Dr. Le is just clearly not well versed on Invisalign. She didn't even know how to read the tray numbers so of course she didn't really have an ideas of how long my treatment would be. I am paying for their misinformation and hope to save someone from being in my shoes in the future. Please beware! Money hungry practice. read more

Dr. Tran was assigned to me as my dental student when I sought care at Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry in Philadelphia, PA! He took great care of me! He filled multiple cavities, cleaned my teeth, and fabricated veneers to restore my smile. He did outstanding work (better than my former, more-experienced dentist)! Dr. Tran is an excellent dentist and a perfectionist! He also has a calming presence, he explains the procedures he is about to perform in a simple manner, and he is very patient with his clients! This is place is clean & very modern. It is easy to get an appointment rather quickly! The staff are friendly and listen to your concerns about your oral health. They do their best to make you comfortable and happy with your treatment results. So far I have had 22 cavities filled, a deep cleaning done which was badly needed, and a tooth extracted by Dr Vihn at Sunnyvale Smiles. I originally got a teeth cleaning, exam, and x-ray back in 2015 at this location. It was easy to schedule and had no problems with acceptance of insurance. The office is nicely decorated and a pleasant environment. They have screens for you to watch while you are serviced. My cleaning went very well and my dental work was done to my liking and satisfaction. I was supposed to return for additional work but was unable to at that time. I am now in a position in 2017 to get all the dental work I need done. I called on a Monday to make an appointment for 4 pm cleaning and exam. I work in an environment where is it very hard to be available during the day and prefer Saturdays but, they were booked until March for Sat. appointments. I scheduled an appt. for Wed at 4pm and I made arrangements with my employer to leave early as well as childcare arrangements. I received a call at 8am the day before to confirm my appt. The 1st available opportunity I had to call the dentist office back was at the end of my shift at 5pm the same day they called, since I had no lunch due to my appt. the next day. I call back that same day a few mins. before 5pm only to be told my appt. was canceled and that time slot was taken by another client. Basically, I made arrangements and flexed time at work for nothing since I no longer have an appt. I called a few other dentists but with the late notice they were unable to accommodate me. It's really unfortunate because I loved the atmosphere and the services but I can't afford to rearrange my schedule again for my appt. to be potentially canceled if I don't call back immediately. I think a better policy would be to charge a fee for no shows or for cancellations not 24 hrs. in advance. read more

I am a happy client at Sunnyvale Smiles! I have had everything done from cleanings and x-rays to new/replacement crowns and new mouth guards because I grind my teeth. Everyone here is personable and knowledgeable. It's nice to visit a dentist where you are not nervous or stressed out. They help you along every step of the way with what needs to be done before and during your appointment. Was prescribed meds and pain killers to pass the time. I finally came in 7/7/20 so they could finish what they started and actually start on the tooth I originally came in for. I had to come in 3x in one week to get it worked on. And by the way this is an additional cost $1,200 out of my pocket cause remember they already max the insurance. The office manager Lindsey is a joke. Anything you tell her goes in one ear and out the other. She is rude and has no compassion! Every time I came in I asked are you going to work on the original tooth I complained about. Their answer, ummmm no were finishing out the other tooth, the one tooth I never complained about or had an issue with. I was told over the phone by Lindsey over and over again yes it will be taken care of. Some of the staff are rude as well no compassion. Its all about HOW MUCH CAN YOU PAY AND WHEN CAN YOU PAY! One star is an over rating but one half star is not an option. Worst experience I've ever had. the office manager refuses to be understanding and very stubborn about matters of business. I had teeth made there and they have been extremely painful from the very start. I've expressed my problem and they have turned it out to be my fault. some thing about bone shifting? Not my fault it took 3 weeks for my plates to return from lab. They have done so much grinding (adjustments) that they no longer fit properly. The office manager has now refused to return my calls. If one is considering having dentures made, I would highly recommend finding any place but Sunnyvale Smiles. I am still in a great deal of pain and after several corrections being made to my dentures the office refuses a remake or refund. Horrible way of conducting business. read more

I do not recommend SunnyvaleSmiles. I started going to this location over five years ago and the service was excellent. Over the years I've noticed every time I go back there's always a change in the entire staff. I recently had a temporary bridge done on November 5, 2018. I was not pleased with my service. However, they have been paid in full. I was told the temporary setting would need to stay in for a month. Today (1/8/2019) I had to call them to inquire why I hadn't been contacted regarding my follow up visit for the permanent bridge. The earliest appointment I could get was for January 31st 2019. That would be more than 11 weeks later. My first intuition was to find a new dentist over a year ago & I regret I failed to do so. SunnyvaleSmiles is not the same place I used to love.
