We asked this ideal garage to come out and give us estimate for a new garage door opener. We were quoted $2500.00 we were flabergasted, we are seniors and wanted to get a 2nd opinion. We went to Lowe's purchased a garage door opener with remotes paid $179.00 and asked for instalation which ran $179.00 they came out within 2 days of purchase and we now have a new garage door opener with remotes and smart opener. So just a warning I believe they saw us at old " which we are" but we knew we were being scammed. I think this is shameful!! But shout out to Lowe's and their vendor not ripping us off. read more

The young man who came explained he could fix it but it was old, 1998 so I just went with a new one without having to worry about any problems. I'm sorry, but this sounds like a scam. I'm sure they do quality work and are good people, they better be at their pricing. I got an estimate to replace my broken spring. Got upsold to replace everything but panels for over $1200, or i could replace my spring only for $700+. I can get a whole new door at Home Depot for those prices. So i paid the service fee and before Ideal left my driveway, i was on the phone with another vendor that confirmed a spring replacement was about $250 and that they'd be here within the hour. I'll see what they charge to overhaul my door as Ideal wanted to do so that i can compare pricing, but certainly apples to apples on springs, Ideal is hugely over-priced. Confirmed with my neighbor that he paid about $250 as well. Springs are about $60 online. Come on Ideal! I get your veteran-owned, but I don't want to pay for the retirement benefits and VA bills too. Update: other door company just left after about 45 mins worth of work, and I have a working garage door again for $238. Far from the $700+ quoted by Ideal and the $1200 upsell business. Everything i pointed out to the other company that Ideal said i needed, they said it was fine. So I gladly paid Ideal $89 for their dispatch fee to confirm that i'll never use them again. I have found my new garage vendor. Not sure how folks are giving 5 stars here unless they were just trying to poach me and no one else has experienced this. Sure, they are unbelievably nice and i'm sure they do quality work, but they are WAY overpriced compared to the competition. We recommend Ideal Garage doors. They were on time, very nice, and Janet in scheduling texted a photo of the tech before he arrived (for our security). Workers wore masks, kept distance, yet were friendly and knowledgeable. The 1st tech, Cody, said we need a new garage door (ours is 30 yrs old). He showed us specific issues as to Why a new door was needed. He also showed us an array of choices in a range of costs, no 'hard sell'. A 2nd crew installed it (Wyatt, Chase, & Drew.) They also took pride in their work. Pleasant, clean cut young men, so that for female homeowners, cautious about having random men work at your home, this crew came off as trustworthy, good people to put your mind at ease. They were so careful in the clean up, too. Impressive. The new door is insulated, keeps garage temps more comfortable, and also has less noise. Looks great. I will admit that the technician who arrived was very courteous and knowledgeable however, after he spent about 45 minutes examining my overhead door that needed to have both springs replaced, he then offered me his suggestions to which I all but had to laugh in his face. Their prices are totally ridiculous! His best option was a total rebuild of for all hardware involved with the door for a price of $1295! This was after he had told me my door was in good shape! His second option was to just replace the springs and bearings for $850, his third option was to replace only the 2 springs for $700 which is still ridiculous. They advertise that while most companies use 10,000 cycle springs, they use heavier 30,000 cycle springs. The company I hired after Ideal left used the same high cycle (.275" vs .207" ) springs that were broken for $330. Also, there was nothing mentioned about the bearings needing to be replaced which was of no surprise to me. The company I used also noticed my other door needed adjusting and did that for no extra charge. I should have known there was something to be concerned about when Idealdoors said that they charge an $89 service fee whether you use them or not. I have a strong felling that I am not the first to pay that fee and send them on their way. I would never recommend this company to anyone! read more

Andy, the owner/manager, is Rude, Dishonest, and INCOMPETENT. After scheduling a service call, a representative arrived to diagnose my issue. He was very nice and told me I had two options for repair. He tried calling his manager (Andy) to get a quote on my options but Andy never called him back with the information. After waiting for a while on Andy, the tech told me he had to go and would have Andy follow up with me directly. He said if we had to order parts, it had to be done by the next day in order to have my repairs done the following week. After waiting for 3 days for a call back, I finally called the company myself. Andy answered the phone and clearly had no idea who I was or what I was talking about. He immediately said he would have to call me back. Again, I was waiting.... When he finally called me back, he gave me two quotes for repair. At first, he didn't even want to schedule the repair until the parts were in stock - and that wouldn't be for another week. I had to tell him TWICE how irritated I was that my car was sitting in the hot sun because no one followed up with my repair before he added a half hearted "sorry you were inconvenienced." Yeah, right. When I finally convinced him to schedule the repair, he told me that he could NOT guarantee the parts would be in on time!! He wanted to schedule the repair for June 1st and insisted I pay for the parts AND REPAIR in advance - even though I had no assurance it could be done when promised. Really?? That sounded way too sketchy for me, so I asked to speak to the owner and he informed me that he was the owner. I then asked why my repair hadn't been handled correctly and he refused to take any accountability, only saying "it just wasn't followed up." At that time I told Andy I wasn't comfortable paying everything in advance and I didn't really appreciate the way I had been treated. I told him I was now considering shopping other companies. Ever so professional, Andy hung up on me!! After taking a deep breath, I called him back to ask about the $95.00 fee I had paid which was supposed to be applied to my repairs. I also stated that I felt it was completely inappropriate to hang up on a customer and let him know I would be writing a review of my experience. Instead of answering my question, Andy "THE OWNER" hung up on me again! I guess I will be calling Wells Fargo and the BBB, too. What a miserable experience! I've had a garage door opener for my garage for YEARS. I bought it when I originally bought my house, but had some damage to the garage door shortly after I moved in because the door was not installed correctly (thanks Anozira), but because I forced it shut (It was Christmas Eve and I had places to go!) that voided the warranty. Great. Well, Mike got tired of waiting for me to get around to getting the job done and called Home Depot (where I bought the opener from) and made arrangements with them to use their installer to come and fix the door and install the opener. Yay! These guys were great to work with! They scheduled a 2-3 hour window during which they would show up. They arrived right on time for the first visit, but unfortunately because we had misplaced a part they were unable to install the opener. However, the guy did notice that the door needed a little maintenance and tightened some things and straightened the door out at no additional charge. We were able to get someone back out a few days later to finish the job (he arrived about an hour into the scheduled time frame) and he also made some additional repairs to the door so that the tracks were properly secured and he gave us a great deal on this fix. Both guys that came out were fast, helpful, and friendly. They were such a breeze to deal with. And there prices were so reasonable. Only a fraction of what I thought it would cost. I love pulling into my garage now. No more cold mornings! read more

Excellent service! Had a special order insulated door INSTALLED for less than 1k not even sure how these guys make a profit. On top of that my contractor went missing in action after he was hired and had to build the garage myself but George with Ideal took extra time to come out of his way on site to tell me how to properly frame so the door would fit perfectly. After I was signed off by inspector gave them a call and were out a day and a half later, smooth installation. Nothing but great things to say for these guys. read more

I had a spring break on my garage door and called Ideal Overhead, left a message and was promptly returned a call and had service scheduled for that same day within 3 hours. I was told a price over the phone and that was the price I paid, no surprises, very reasonable rates. The technician that was assigned to me called when he was on his way, got to our house and looked at the spring and replaced both very quickly as a knowledgeable garage door specialist would. Do not use this company. I had them to replace my broken springs on my garage door. I had Ideal garage door to fix the broken springs. Sometime later my sprocket broke on my garage door and I called another company to fix my sprocket. The new company repaired my sprocket and informed me that the springs that were installed on my door were not the correct size for my size garage door. He stated that I needed to call Ideal back and have them put the right size springs on the door. I informed Ideal garage door of what the other door company had told me. Ideal tried to lie as if the door size was correct . I had another company come out as a third opinion and examine my springs that Ideal installed and he too informed me that the springs were indeed the wrong size springs and did not meet the Ippt rating for garage door springs because they were overwound. I informed Ideal of this and they said that they would change the springs if I would sign a document that absolved them of any future liabilities. How can you even think about using a company that does not stand by their work. Whys would I sign such a ridiculous document. Then Mike at Ideal tried to make it seems as though it was about me wanting my money back , I explained to him that it was about me not trusting his company and they should pay a reputable company to install the correct size springs on my door..
