We just bought a brand new close-out dishwasher from Idlers in Paso. Their price was $50 less than either Lowes or HomeDepot for the same appliance. The two delivery men, Jesse and Luis, arrived within the agreed-upon time frame and got right to work. Unfortunately for me, we have a major plumbing issue I didn't know about (a seized valve) that prevented them from being able to install the dishwasher. Jesse explained the situation in detail, for which I am most appreciative. Once I get the plumbing issue addressed the dishwasher can be installed. Idlers is frequently more expensive than their competitors, but there is no beating this level of cooperation and customer service. read more

Had a great experience at Idlers buying new appliances for my home in Paso Robles. I reached out to their online assistant to get more information on a hard to find GE refrigerator for a very constrained kitchen location in my home. Gary, from Idlers, followed up promptly and located the exact GE fridge on their showroom floor and did some exact measurements to verify a perfect fit. I added a pair of GE washer & dryer and closed the order with Gary, all online, without stepping foot in the store. Gary setup a delivery time amenable to my schedule. The delivery and install was done today; a few hours earlier than scheduled: but that was great. The installers were very professional and took the time to explain all the features and even the trick of moving the fridge forward and back. Very helpful (since the fridge has no front wheels). I have shopped at many big box stores in the past, before moving to Paso, and assure you the experience there did not come close to the very personal touch working with a local store as Idlers. read more

There are several options in my area to compare prices, which were all pretty much the same. I went to one store in the Paso Robles area, and then went to Idlers. I was fortunate enough to encounter Bryan Bautista as the person to help me navigate what type of mattress was best for me. No high pressure sales pitch, but instead brought me to the high tech diagnostic tool there to determine pressure points, and then point out the best choices for me. It was his knowledge of the details of each product and genuine caring and understanding that sold me on going with Idler's for my purchase. I've worked over a dozen years in customer service, in the trenches and in management, and appreciate what seems to be a dying art of providing excellent customer service. We have been doing business with Idler's Home for a long time. We had Idler's Home help with our kitchen remodel which was a huge success and had all of our friends very impressed. That was almost 20 years ago and our kitchen looks great. We needed a new refrigerator and after looking around SLO county we went back to Idler's and again found the best price's. They beat all of the competition. The pandemic slowed down the delivery date by five months but yesterday, wife's birthday, they delivered our new appliance. Boy was she happy. ME TOO !!!!! The deliverymen were very nice and very professional. Now my wife wants to replace the stove and Microwave to match the new refrigerator. (Go figure huh !!!) We spoke with Joseph in Idler's Paso Store, and asked him to please put in an emergency repair ticket for our broken Viking refrigerator. Very few repair people in the county know how to properly fix these Viking refrigerators, and other appliance stores we contacted refused to service them. Sam, from Idlers San Luis Obispo, came and was a lifesaver for our family! He fixed our fridge! He was remarkably knowledgeable about appliances, even complicated, unique systems. Sam was professional, friendly, and thorough. We were so grateful to Idlers and their staff for such outstanding service. read more

I really wish I could support local business, but can't recommend these guys to anyone. They are happy to sell you appliances, but not great on the service end. We bought a Whirlpool washer from them a few years ago. Last year it started failing in the middle of the cycle. Of course it was out of warranty. They charged us a diagnostic fee to come out and look at it. Then they charged for the parts and labor to fix it. After a week or two it started failing again. We put up with it for a while then when it couldn't complete a cycle anymore we called back. They only warranty their work for 1 month and were going to charge the diagnostic fee again. They seemed unconcerned with the situation. I called Whirlpool and for $323 they would fix anything wrong with the machine and warranty it again for 1 year. So, the take-aways here: 1) don't buy from a store that doesn't back up their products 2) if you bought from them already and need it repaired, go directly to the manufacturer before you have Idler's service it. read more

I walked in with the intention of purchasing a washing machine and I was greeted by a taller grey haired employee who kinda of just looked at us walking in and we said just looking for the washing machines. He kind of scoffed at us, while another employee was sitting in the chairs with her feet kicked up. I said you know what well go else where. He said Why? I said because of your attitude. This was the worse experience I have ever had with a local business. Went in to buy a cook top and check prices. Spoke with a lady in appliances who convinced me lowes didn't have any of the cook top I wanted in stock. That was not true at all. She talked me into getting the floor model that they had. So I went and looked at it which it had no visible flaws or scratches. I purchased the cook top and was not told that the appliance was "as is". Idlers employees delivered my cook top and didn't have the regulator for the cook top. So we waited around for someone to bring it to them (30min). Then they put it into the spot and didn't have the mounting brackets for the floor model... "go figure" so the deliver guys set it in place and said they were done. Mind you my cook top was sliding around unmounted on top of my counter. I called the store and let them know what was going on and they didn't call me back when I left a voicemail, I had to physically drive down there and express my frustrations. Don is a horrible manager and did nothing for me, I just wanted the install refunded and 10% off because the scratch that magically appeared after they delivered it. Instead they sent the same delivery guy back out and he makeshift some brackets because they didn't have any and called it good. This is why money doesn't stay local anymore because business take advantage any way they can read more

I have always purchased appliances from the Idler's, so this came as a total surprise! After 2weeks of waiting for my dishwasher, the new one came 1/2" too tall for the existing space, so it has to be reordered. Meanwhile water was turned off at the sink, and the installer didn't have a spare cap to reconnect hot water line. So no dishwasher, no hot water. I call the store back, and a manager said he'll send someone over between 8:30-930 am. No one showed, so I called the store, and I had several transfers, because no one knew anything about such work order the last night's manager "guaranteed me"! An owner came on line, and I explain the situation, but he cut me off in the middle of my trying to explain the situation basically telling mee to shut up and wait for his call back. From this point on whether the situation is taken care of or not is moot. I'm throughly disappointed with the Idler's at this point, and will not be purchasing anything from mthe store again. I purchased a dishwasher in January, it's finally here for installation today in March. Well, I found I'm the 3rd in the line of delivery sch (8-noon), and was told just now that they'll get to me before noon! You'd think, after waiting for 2 months, they would be considerate enough to put me for an earlier delivery. I'm defending done with company. Wish I can give less than one star here! read more
