Simply the best! I couldn't have gotten a better fix for my shoes. I brought in my ratty old converse - they were worn through almost completely in the heel area. At this point they were unwearable and I wasn't even confident they could be salvaged. As far as material, my preference was not to use leather so Teri suggested I source a vegan alternative. Thankfully I was able to find an almost perfect red color match online! When I came to pick up my shoes I was stunned. She did an amazing job - practically speaking with regard to reinforcement, but also artistically. She has an attention to detail that incorporated the new fabric with the old shoe seamlessly. The shoes are a tad more snug than they used to be, but this would make sense with an added layer. I wonder if it will even give a little with time. Overall, I am more than satisfied. Not what I expected.... My wife wanted to stop by "If the Shoe Fits" while we were on vacation in Maui to look at some sandals. I didn't expect a local (Maui) shoe shop to carry Danner boots. I've been wearing the same shoes for quite some time now and had heard that on Maui there is only one cobbler - one who makes you wait for 3 weeks and won't serve you if you bring an attitude... not unlike the soup Nazi on Seinfeld. I waited until I wore a hole on the sole of one shoe before I succumbed and dropped in to suffer both the wrath of having to deal with such a bad business and having to wear my uncomfortable backup shoes for what would certainly be a month or more. What really happened was that I met an extremely friendly and helpful Teri who was a joy to work with. Her shop had lots to choose from and you could tell she was all about the quality. She did say that it could take 3 weeks to perform the repair, but that help was coming soon to reduce the turnaround times. She let me know that she would be using the traditional Italian soles as replacements and that my shoes would be as good as new. I can't tell you that I wasn't skeptical, but I had no choice so I paid up front and took my receipt. Two week later, I received a call to pick up my shoes. Not only were the soles replaced with great care and quality, Teri had repaired the back of one shoe that had been mauled off by my neighbor's dog. I had been reminded of this dog every time I put my shoes on and now they were back to perfect.... At no charge! I honestly don't know what the problems were before, but I'm stoked about my repair. Owner of if the shoe fits does not have interest in your shoe repairs, took my shoe in just for gluing the soles told me it would be done in 2 weeks....waited and still not done, she had my pair of heels for over 1 month then I finally go in to get my shoes couldn't believe how unorganized her shelves were of repairs already done to where she couldn't find my heels. While visiting the Maui Friday event in Wailuku my wife noticed that the sole was becoming separated from her new sandal. Conveniently we were right in front of this store so she popped in to see if anything could be done. The owner, Teri, was working away on some repairs but took a minute to have a look. Teri noticed that the soles were separating on both sandals and offered to do an emergency repair which would only take about 10 mins. She could also do a proper, long term repair but then we'd have to leave them with her overnight. She even offered to loan her a pair of shoes so she didn't have to leave barefoot. Amazing! We didn't have plans to be near Wailuku for a while so we opted for the emergency repair and they were done in 10 minutes, as promised. We were grateful that Teri was open and able to help us out so quickly.. All in all a super delightful experience, we are really glad that we stopped in here! read more

This is my first year living on an Island, needless to say I can't find many "fix it" places... I happily found If the shoe fits and read all these reviews. Coming from Southern County California 34 years in customer service I am fully aware of "great service" vs "bad" I also understand the nature of customers being self entitled, demanding and down right rude, expecting the world just for them. I was eager to meet this cobbler with a great attitude understanding I was going to HER for my need. A very expensive pair of shoes I love. I am happy to report, she met me with a smile on her face and enthusiasm to tell me all about the my repair and the two weeks Swift turn around during this holiday season. And I want to point out of course you pay upon leaving your product there this is how it's done all over California why would any cobbler take the risk of having hundreds of shoes in her store and nobody picking them up after she did the work? it does not make sense. That surely is not a good business model for success. if you want your shoes then commit to it, and get it done. Thank God for Terri and If the Shoe Fits! I was having trouble with a pair of Mephisto sandals -- a design flaw that had plagued me for months finally caught up with me on vacation. Terri listened to my concerns, examined my right sandal and offered a temporary "quick fix" that involved a few stitches. As I was trying them on and thanking her she asked if she could take another look at the sandals. I love a great bargain! I found a purse I fell in love with but did not want to spend the $400 for it so I was fortunate to find one on Ebay Brand New But it had damage on the inside snap. I bought it as the price was unbelievably low and I figured I could get it fixed. Living here many years I did not know of any shoe / leather repair businesses. I Googled and found this business. I love supporting local businesses. After reading some of the reviews I was not sure so I decided to go in and try to get it fixed. Teri was very friendly and seemed very knowledgable on solutions to fix my bag. Ideas I had to fix it she immediately told me would not work. I paid in advance and which I thought was very reasonable. She told me it would take about 3 weeks as she had lots of items she was working on. She tells you up front that is a guesstimate and to not call to keep checking on it but she would call when it is done. I waited 3 weeks and I got my call that my bag was ready!! YAY!!! This was an absolutely terrible experience! Please note that I have never really written a bad review about a business... I typically just let it go, but I am so disappointed I thought I should share. Needing shoeshine and repair, I searched for an area business that could help. If the Shoe Fits seemed very convenient and advertises to be the island expert. I decided to give them a try, which I now regret. The following is a summary of my experience: Called them and was advised that shoes are only accepted between the first and 15th of the month. Dropped my shoes off and received very friendly service. The owner was very complementary of my shoes and said that she was excited to work on them. She charged my credit card for two shoeshines and one shoe repair, which included heal and sole work. The total bill was $110, which I thought was expensive but felt confident that the work would be as promised. The owner said that she is the only person in Maui that knows how to work on designer shoes and advised that she would call me when the work was completed, which was described as "a few weeks." One month passed and I received no phone call. I decided to call her. She said that they were not ready, but that they would be available the following week. I called the following week and she advised that the two shoeshines were ready for pick up, but that the repair was not ready. She advised it would be another few days. I subsequently sent someone to pick up the shoeshines. When I receive them, the overall look was very matte and the pre-existing scuffs were highly visible. As I was going on a business trip, I had one pair shined again at the airport, which came out beautifully. I was disappointed that I had to pay for a second shoeshine, but decided to let it go. I was still very excited about picking up my third pair of shoes, which was still being repaired. The following week I went to the shop to pick up my shoes that were being repaired. The owner advised that they were still not ready. I advised her that I was very frustrated, and that I did not expect to be waiting this long for shoes to be done (six weeks had passed). She then advised "they have just not been a priority for me." I was very shocked at this response, and told her that I thought this comment was inappropriate. She apologized, but went on to further explain that she did not have the supplies needed to repair my shoes. I advised that it would have been appropriate for her to call me and keep me in the loop and that this situation could have been handled better. I went on to explain that if I knew in advance how long this would take that I would have made other arrangements, which might include going to Oahu. She then responded "you can continue to stand here and offend me or let me get your shoes done." In my entire life, I have never had a business owner speak to me like that! I told her that I thought her response was inappropriate, and she apologized. Note this is now twice that she made inappropriate comments to me, the customer. I received a message one week later that she received the supplies she was waiting for and that my shoes would be ready within the next few days. I subsequently returned to the shop at 1:50 PM on a Saturday, which is 10 minutes before the business closes. The shop was locked and the lights were off. I called her and left her a message, and never received a return call. I returned nearly 2 weeks later to pick up my shoes. The owner greeted me and brought my shoes out. She said that she did the heels, but that she was "too afraid" to do the sole and that she would be issuing me a refund. I advised her that had I known she could not do the requested repairs, that I would have went somewhere else in the first place (keep in mind, that this is over 2 months since I brought the shoes in). She simply responded "perhaps you can take them to Oahu." It seems very strange to me that she would commit to doing work, make me wait two months, never call me with updates and then ultimately not do the work? Clearly, the owner of If the Shoe Fits is running a very small business and does not have much customer service experience. She seems very overwhelmed. Had she taken the time to communicate with me what to expect along the way, perhaps the situation would have turned out better? That being said, her inappropriate comments and lack of follow-through are very unfortunate. Please think twice if you are considering going there. read more

DO NOT TRUST THIS WOMAN!! I don't know how I can stress this enough! The owner, Teri Edmonds is very unprofessional, very rude and condescending. On October 7, I went in to see if she could repair a leather coach bag strap, she said she "actually just ordered a strap that would match" . I told her to call me when the strap comes in and I will bring the bag back, she said "no, if I am going to do any work for you I need you to pay me the full amount up front today" I thought it was odd that she was demanding money when she clearly wasn't ready to complete the job. I told her I would bring my bag back she said no, because she was already giving me a quote. Out of other options in Maui, I opted to pay (with my credit card) the full cost and leave my bag with her. She told me the job would be done in 3 weeks. The same night I emailed her, to say I wasn't comfortable and I would be picking up my bag the next day. She emailed back saying the "job has started and she won't give a refund and I can take the bag back incomplete or wait until she's done". The very next day my fiancé went in to talk with her and pick up the bag. While there she explained her reasoning for taking the full amount, saying people don't pick up their items, obviously a lie. She showed him my bag straps cut off already. Why cut it when she didn't even have the part to fix it? Seems like she cut it only knowing we would be coming in to try get out of the job. She assured him it would be done in less the amount of time she quoted me, she said only a week and a half because she was just waiting for the straps to arrive in the mail. On November 2nd, 2015 (almost 4 weeks passed) my fiancé called and she said it wasn't done and didn't know when she would be able to get to it. So I decide to stop in and pick up the damaged bags knowing she had cut the straps. As soon as I walk in, I kindly ask the other sales woman if I can pick up my bag. Teri is behind the counter and rudely says "did we call you?" I tell her no, but it's been more than the time she quoted, me. She starts getting snippy and says If "I don't call you it's not done. " I tell her it's fine and I want my bag back as well as a refund. She says "I'm not giving you your money back, you can either wait another 3 weeks or take it as it is" . Mean while another customer comes in and she begins yelling at me to leave the store. I tell her all "I want is my money back!" She says " you need to take it up with your credit card company" (not even knowing how I paid). She keeps yelling no refunds and she will have me removed from the store. She pulls out a Chanel tote and gives that to me but stupid her, doesn't realize it's the wrong bag. I should have taken it and made her pay the next girl for her lost bag! I finally tell her that's not my bag, so she throws my bag on the counter and I walk out to call Maui police department. they arrive and say there's nothing they can do but take her to small claims court. She puts on her happy face with the officer and tells the officer she is still willing to complete the job. But who would trust this woman after that? Definitely not me! My bag would come back I shreds, one year later (if that). As a business owner, she shouldn't be making false promises nor demanding money up front and yelling at her customers while stealing their money! So sad that I have to take legal action over a ruined $400 coach bag because she couldn't do a simple refund a $41.67 charge! read more

I would like to warn everyone of the very very poor quality of service that Teri Edmonds is responsible for at her business . Ms. Edmonds on the surface has a very winning presentation on the phone and in person. I personally contracted with her to repair/refurbish an exercise system called the TRX that I had planned on giving to a friend of mine as a gift. The TRX I provided to Ms Edmonds was used and had a broken buckle. I provided Ms. Edmonds with the buckles for replacement and showed Ms Edmonds my current TRX system that I wanted Ms. Edmonds to use as a model to refurbish the unit that needed repair. Ms. Edmonds examined and compared the two models and said she could do the job for $65.00 which had to be paid up front. I agreed to the price and paid her the amount up front, which I now conclude was my second mistake. The first was going to her shop and falling for her personality and trusting her to be competent. Pursuant to that, I had to make three trips to her store to get the TRX, that she said was ready for pick up, only to find errors and incomplete work done to the product on those visits. My third biggest mistake was upon my last visit only glancing over the unit and accepting it expecting it to be finally corrected and not thoroughly examining the product prior to offering it to my friend. The pro-ported repairs, I assumed were finally done correctly, having pointed out needed corrections upon my previous several visits complicated by arguing with this belligerent women was disappointed to see come undone during our attempted use during our exercise program. Ms. Edmonds final work was described by my friend as "looks like a 8 year olds work" and I was told the gift wasn't acceptable as it looked to be a mess. Again very embarrassing. Ms. Edmonds is not a capable craftswoman and I assume that is why she has learned to demand the repair money upfront prior to accepting the work. She herself has no confidence in her work yet puts on a capable external facade with her looks and artificial smile. Beware, Beware. read more

I wish I would have read these reviews before I dropped off my Manolo boots with this business. I have rarely- if ever- seen customer service THIS HORRIBLE. I dropped the boots off three weeks ago and had never heard back. I called, was initially very pleasant on the phone, and asked if I could check on the status. Immediately, the owner, Teri, became very defensive and said she could not check on the status of the boots and that there would be a fee for her to do so. The work was promised three weeks ago and I paid her for the work to be done. When I called back (after was promptly hung up on) I got the answering machine- and I encourage anyone to listen to her message! It is condescending, rude, and not inviting at all. I should have taken E.K.'s advice before entering this NEGATIVE RUDE ENVIRONMENT. First of all there was no parking so I had to park in the loading zone. Born and raised on Maui there is not much places to go to repair your shoes . So I was extremely worried I wouldn't be able to fix my favorite pair of heels for work. I didn't have much time to wait either seeing that I work in the mainland . I was super happy to meet Teri, the owner of "If The Shoe Fits " she took a look at my heels and told me there was a little back up and wait to fix them but she would gladly be of service . I urgently told her I didn't have much time to waste seeing my flight was in a couple of days . She said she would see what she could do . It seemed as though I didn't even have to worry at all because she called me the next day telling me that she had them fixed and ready to be picked up! Phew ! What a life saver she was ! I went on a Thursday and the next day it was repaired. I was so happy with my experience that I went back another time. This time I brought it on a Monday. After 2 weeks of no call from the owner Teri, I called her and asked her what was going on? She got upset and said I was rude and asked that I pick up my sandals, that she was giving me back my money, and that it takes her 2-3 weeks to repair one. Now, why didn't you say that back then? She was extremely rude and said that she couldn't fix it anyway. Just a bit of advise TERI, don't take peoples shoes and not repair them at all, especially if they've already paid you! I brought in a pair of slippers and my oldest and best pair of Italian dress shoes that i have had for over 20 years for repair and was charged about $60 which i paid on the spot, and told i would get a call when they were done. i got the call and came to pick them up and they lost, misplaced, or gave my dress shoes to someone else. they then told me they would look for them. weeks later i went back and still no shoes. i was gracious and told them anyone could make a mistake. they called me when they still could not locate them and asked me what i wanted them to do about it. i found this awkward, as they were the ones who lost my shoes. they told me they would refund me $60 dollars, this was by phone. i then made a 4th trip to the store to pick up my slippers as the original pair came unglued within 15 minutes after i put them on and i had to take them back. when i went to pick them up for the 2nd time they returned them to me without repair saying they could not repair them. so i was left with no shoes, no repairs, and no consideration of refund or payment for my shoes they lost and so i did pick up my slippers that never were repaired, i was asked to leave my mailing address so they could send me a check to accommodate this situation. this was weeks and weeks ago. no check, no repair, lost my best dress shoes. these people did not follow thru on a single promise they made to me. i find these people to be lacking in business ethics, lacking in true consideration of their actions, their unkempt promise to refund me for the services that was never completed and there has been no consideration to the loss of my shoes. i would not recommend this business to anyone, in fact i would tell them my story and see what they think of such a lack of professionalism. read more
