I had harmful software mistakenly installed to my laptop, which I spent entire day trying to remove because I can usually take care of most of issue about computer by myself, but couldn't. 10AM, I brought it to them to see what they will say, and decided to leave it with them after having their good over the counter consultation. At 4PM, I got it returned in my hand ! They even gave me some quick lecture to prevent problems in the future. My Keyboard on my laptop stopped working and I was not super happy about it. I took it into iFix and they said they would try to replace the keyboard that day if they had it in stock. Otherwise, they said it would take about a week to get the keyboard and a couple of hours to fix it once the part came in. I left my computer with them so they could assess the problem and hopefully find the keyboard in stock. I expected to wait a few hours before hearing back and potentially to wait the whole day (or worse, an entire week), before getting it repaired. One hour later I get a call and they realized that the connection for the keyboard had come loose (?..my computer terminology is limited..) and they fixed it and it was working and ready to go. Yay! I went to pick it up right away and there was no charge. Uh, what?! Thanks! Friendly, understanding, and efficient. These guys are clueless and are NOT Apple authorized repairers. The screen on my laptop wouldn't turn on, I took it here because I was in Davis. They reattached the graphics card to the logic board ($250!!!), which fixed the problem, but it broke again soon after. It was overheating and caused the same thing to happen again. I sent it back, they fixed it again only to have it break again in a week. They gave it back this time, telling me it's totally good, I try it and it immediately starts overheating. I start backing up all my data in case it fails and realize that the battery status bar says "service battery." I take the battery out and the overheating problem goes away. I made a yelp account just to tell you guys not to go here and tell about my horrific experience. I highly DO NOT recommend this place. Unless you have extra time & money to give away. I had a cracked screen for my laptop and needed a screen change. When i took it there, a front desk guy Tony took a look at it and hooked up to my old cracked screen (ofc making distorted images) and made illogial decision that the video cord was damaged (although in fact it was clearly the broken screen that needed to be changed) Since they were the computer guys, i thought ok let them handle it. But i shouldnt have done that or give my laptop to them at all. They took 3-5 days to order a video cord. Got call from them that didn't work and they needed more time. (Im uc davis student and school just started when i dropped it off, but i couldve waited few more days) Then they said they ordered new screen, which would take 3-5 days again. They put it on, and my laptop brightness didnt work. They ordered wrong screen (dissimilar to the old screen i had which had thermal insulators to take up screen brightness). More than over two weeks have passed, i was getting impatient, so i called them and they said they ordered the screen that is similar to my old screen. After screen arriving and putting them together, (by the third freaking week) i got a call saying it cannot be fixed. Furious and pissed off, i rushed to their place. They had created additional damage to my laptop. When he plugged in my laptop the screen was flickering constantly. Then when he plugged it off from charger, my laptop screen was completely dark. I swear to my God and upon my future children's generation that THIS DIDNT HAPPEN before i took it to them. It is a frigging new laptop that just needed a screen change, and they decided it was video cord, cracked it up open, tinkle with it and mess with inside, break the wiring and thermal insulator, and refuse to confess it was their fault. This didnt even happen when i first showed them what was wrong with it and dropped it off. It became useless junk, so i decided to sell it to them. They offered me merely $100. They said they cant do anything with it, and had to sell it my parts, I bought it hella cheap and lied to them it was brand new worth 700. I bought new laptop from newegg and happy with it. Im pretty sure you can earn more than $100 with those spare parts, but i didnt care and got disposible income. The front counter guy and his brother and his friends seemed like hustling and spoke with their own chinese languages. Theyre very manipulative and deceiving. When you thought it was good deal or price for your buy backs or repairs, they'd be the ones smirking behind your backs because they made profit and you got ripped off. They couldnt even figure out the problem, arrogantly pushed their wrong decision because we dont know electronics, blames me for their problem making me stupid, cant even fix a damn screen. Not to mention it all took over 3 effing weeks, to solve NOTHING! They look like high school students-20 ish, who are unprofessional and will take advantage of your money with their greediness. Quoted me $130 to repair a cracked screen on an apple iphone 6. Considering that Apple only charges $109 for the same repair, apples repair does not void the phone's warranty, apple presumably does not have as many complaints about poor workmanship as seen on this yelp page, and that if you do want to go to a third party vendor, you can find one in the sub 100 range in Sacramento and the bay area, I would avoid. Seriously, though! $130! The parts to repair the phone cost about $25-50, and it is about a 30 minute job. That puts their workers at like $150-$200 an hour! That is twice the amount an auto mechanic makes, for a much simpler job. read more

i walked up to the front door, read the sign saying he is only taking appointments and then was about to walk away when i saw him approaching the door. he approached with no mask. i apologized saying i didnt have an appointment and just called him 20 mins ago for a price quote on opening the phone and just cleaning the front camera. he said he could still take me today. i explained and showed him the issue again and then he told me it would be $40. i was confused and explained that he just told me $30 on the phone. he looked away and sighed and passively repeated "no i said $40". I dropped my iPhone yesterday, and after deciding I didn't want to spend money on gas to drive to the "authorized" Apple store in SF to get the screen replaced, I did some googling and found iFix. I just walked in, didn't need to make an appointment or wait long, and they had the fixed product waiting for me a couple hours later while I browsed downtown. The phone looks good as new now. Tan did a great job of setting me up with an affordable phone plan from Red Pocket. They have spent the time to review the different phone providers and have found the best one Red Pocket, which is the only carrier that they provide. He also later told me Red Pocket uses all the same signal towers as AT&T for half the price. Also anytime I come in with a question he always seems to have the answer, and will fix things as fast as the same day for an affordable price. I have never left a review on any business before but Davis residents need to be aware. I brought in my iPhone with water damage. They charged me upfront and never fixed my phone. I went in and called numerous times and they just gave me a run around that they were still working on it. I never got my phone back and am out a few hundred dollars. They provided me with an estimate for the repair...fixed the issue...and then didn't stop working on my computer until EVERYTHING was working the way I wanted it. They spent far more time on the repair than they had expected (I think)...I was happy because they were thorough and so pleasant to work with. iFix Electronics is hands-downs the best computer repair service here in Davis. I had a HP dv5 with a damaged thermal fan and heat sink (a $260 repair for HP) and iFix was able to repair for $65! With their store just a few blocks from campus I was able to check the status of my laptop quite easily and their staff were so helpful and cooperative. This place is AMAZING!!! My hard drive crashed on my computer and iFix did a great job retrieving all my data and transferred it to the new hard drive. My email address book wasn't retrievable, so they used an older back up I did on an external hard drive and got all my contacts AND showed me how to back up correctly without charging me a dime extra! The people at iFix electronics are AMAZING! The screen of my iPhone cracked and was not functional at all, and the home button had been broken for months before the screen broke. Worst experience ever! My sisters screen broke, so we brought it in. The owners said he'd fix it and we asked, if anything was wrong with it we could have a refund or you'd fix the problem within 30 days. He said yes. The screen didn't work 3 days later. We go in and he says that it's not under their warranty so he won't do anything. He the proceed to say he wouldn't do anything because it'd dip into his profits. WARNING Davis peeps! Do NOT go to iFix Electronics downtown. They "fixed" my screen, but I had issues with it not even a three days after & they wouldn't fix it. Originally, before I gave my phone to the to fix, they had told me I would be under warranty for 30 days. Now they say they don't cover the issue on my phone, even though it was only a week later and I hadn't experienced these problems before I brought it in. Arrogant guy also said "it must have been dropped." Well no shit! That's why I brought it in in the first place! He clarified and asked, "did you drop it after?" The answer: no. But this SOB said, "you must have or else it wouldn't be doing this." How dare he tell me I dropped my phone! I didn't experience the problems before, even when the screen was cracked. And I haven't dropped it. How is this coming back to me, when I've been treating my phone like my first born child since I got it back? SO F***ING UNRELIABLE. In conclusion, don't go to iFix Electronics in downtown Davis. They may be less expensive, but their quality of work and people skills suck. I thought my slow-performing laptop needed increased memory, from 2GB to 4GB. I left it with Tony for about an hour, after which he determined that memory capacity was not the problem but rather it had to do with the processor. I am grateful that he performed this assessment at no charge, and am impressed that they did not take this opportunity to "enhance their business" by doing unnecessary work. THE place to go if anything goes wrong with your electronics in Davis. Long story short, I had a water bottle leakage in my backpack with my PC in it. Consequently water got into the hardware component, which damaged the motherboard. Now, in the past I've had laptops broken beyond repair due to motherboard issues, so I was frightened. I also have no warranty on this laptop, so I assumed the worst. Being a busy UC Davis student with midterms coming up, I had to find help quickly. If I hadn't found iFix Electronics, I'm not sure if my laptop would have lived to see another day. Tony in the repair shop took my laptop in right away and gave me the full rundown of what he was going to do. He was also nice enough to call me with periodic updates with their work on my laptop. And within 2 days, somehow, someway, it was as good as new even with the motherboard all water damaged when I brought it in. I swear, these guys are miracle workers. And only for $90! My PS3 had stopped working for overheating reason and I took it to another place in my local are where I live for a reflow repair. The repair broke right after it was fixed and fortunately I had a warranty from the repair people and took it back, basically the same story played out again. I knew that what was need was a complete reballing of the PS3 but the first repair place said they don't do them because it takes so long and would be way too much money. So I work in Davis and happened to see Ifix one day while driving in downtown Davis and decide to call them about a reball. They say yeah we do them for $90, I was thinking really only $90 to save a $600 piece of machinery, that's an easy decision. I take it to them and I've had it back now for a few weeks and it works great. The only reason I didn't give another star is they didn't complete it as quickly as they said originally and weren't the most friendly bunch. Overall I recommend them. read more

My macbook has been used for a few years and i guess it was time for spring cleaning because it started to overheat within 20 minutes of use and was running excruciatingly slow. I dropped it off for a free diagnosis. The guys told me I had a bad hard drive that needed to be replaced. For $210 they replaced it with a brand new upgraded hard drive (250gb), backed up all my files, and reset everything back brand spanking new in a matter of 2 days. Whats even better is that they installed a upgraded IOS and some additional software (i.e. toast titanium, adobe pro x, microsoft office) without additional cost. I'm really impressed. For some people $200 is a little steep but for the stress and time it saved me from doing it myself or trusting an amateur techie friend, I believe it was worth it.
