SUM will be in Portland for the coming months and will return in April. I'm gonna be going down to PDX to see what is happening down there.

Finding parking will probably take forever to find unless you come early or Uber over here. The lines get long fast so if you come anytime after 12, it might be too late (unless you don't mind waiting of course). The Wow Wow Hawaiian Lemonade line and a couple desserts trucks were the longest, gotta be that summer heat. So good if you're lucky to try it tho! Oh and there's a beer garden if you're just tryna chill out. Tacos = amazing! Sandwiches = amazing! Poke = amazing! Raclette = amazing! Mangonada = amazing! Basically everything I ate at the food festival was bomb! Come hungry, leave with a food coma and maybe a couple extra pounds.

The lines were mostly reasonable being in the middle of the day. There is a map set up in the intersections. Even though there are only 4 blocks of space, there are PLENTY to choose from. For reasons unknown, Block 1 is the most packed, side-by-side, with food tracks. Coincidentally, I also think this block easily had the best food. Based on the crowded foot traffic, others agreed. The organizers need to spread things out better considering there are space in the other blocks. For the food, we chose: 12 Spice or Indonesian Rendang The mushroom topping over turmeric rice was AMAZING!! For such a seemingly simple dish, the flavor is absolutely incredible. Highly recommend. Cost is $8 Alaska Weathervane Scallops We chose two options - mushroom sauce over rice pilaf and over coleslaw, their salad. They also have a taco option. Rice pilaf is the better option by far. Their coleslaw is not remotely refined enough. The scallops are amazing, though! The entrées at $14 are very reasonable. Taco Bahia We had the Nellie - Grilled Salmon tacos at $14. You can request grilled instead of fried. Definitely a better, healthier option. Took pictures but didn't buy Character Cotton Candy - a bunny! Many people paid $8 for the Instagram photo. I just asked to take the picture. LOL

There were at least 3 guys working in the truck and they seem to work like clockwork! Food came out hot and did not disappoint... We ordered a shrimp po boy, slaw, cheesy grits & KING CAKE! Everything was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The po boy was perfect to share, amongst all the other food we ordered. Can't remember the last time where I've had slaw done right, but WYAM coleslaw was perfect. The grits were so cheesy and the seasoning was on point. Then we had our first King Cake... every bite was gooey and rich. We even went back for a second slice... they said if you find the baby, you'll get free beignets next time! We got home, dug into the next slice and found the baby! Prior to finding the baby, we had already looked up their truck schedule to do it all again. I can't claim to know what authentic soul food should taste like, but trying WYAM makes us want to travel to New Orleans and experience more - when food can make you want to transport yourself to a new experience, I think they're doing something right!

I also heard that the service here is great. My boyfriend and I caught them at No Boat Brewing and decided to bring our fur babies for a nice dinner. We arrived at the truck and sadly, the male worker seemed out of it and just in a apathetic mood, so it was uncomfortable trying to order. They didn't say much or anything about when to get the food. When I did pick up our food, I politely asked if the order was ready and not only do I not get a response or a nod, he just turns around and grabs my order before just giving it to me. No enjoy the food or thank you for ordering, and not even a ghost of a smile. We got a small shrimp and grits, oyster po boy, and large jambalaya. The oyster po boy was the star of the order as it was delicious and one of the better po boys my boyfriend and I had, but it was also our first time trying an oyster po boy. The shrimp and grits were nothing to really write about and the jambalaya was just meh. Not sure if we came at a bad day but it's super unfortunate as I was really looking forward to this food truck for the longest time but it was the most disappointing Washington food truck that I have had visited.

A Seattle dog is a quintessential food item while visiting Seattle. I am happy to say the Dog In The Park Seattle Dog lived up to my expectations. A crispy grilled dog, cream cheese, and plenty of grilled veggies. There are loads of toppings to choose from, too, but the young man serving up the dogs recommended just plain for the first time to really get the classic experience. I think some light mustard and maybe some saurkraut would have been a great addition. Friendly service and good recommendations for a first-timer, though. This location is located not too far from Pike Place and Westlake station. Convenient location. The price is great too! Go enjoy a Dog In The Park!

I had just come from the Lake Union Saturday Market and compared to the music, amount of vendors, and food trucks there, SODO was quiet and smaller. This one wraps around the antique shop but there was room for three food trucks and a small strip of vendors. There were a lot of people selling re-thrifted clothes. Looked like there were a few gems but you may need to do some digging around, and at that point I may just do my own thrifting. Of course like with any market there are a few quality things worth coming for. I saw a few hanging crystal decorations with moons and stars and I would love to gift one to my niece. The handmade jewelry selections were super cute and very nice quality. There are some of the same looking stuff throughout vendors though so really walk the tents through before making a purchase.
