Terrible customer service by the girl at the register with the glasses. First and last visit.

Rating: 4.0 Came to…read moretry this ice cream place since we live nearby and had not tried yet. It's a small local ice-cream shop located in Warwick RI. Inside is kind of like a diner converted into an ice cream shop. There is a counter where they serve ice creams and bunch of tables, seats and diner counter as well. When we came there were bunch of kids likely from the neighborhood. They offer hard, soft, dole whip, sundaes, waffle nachos, shakes, float and parfait with bunch of topping options. I tried their waffle cone cup with 1 scoop of strawberry cheese cake and 1 scoop of peanut butter pie hard ice-cream. Hard ice cream was pretty good. Waffle cone cup was a bit stale. Probably will just get sugar cone or ice cream in the cup next time. Service was good and staffs were nice. Keep in mind that it's cash only but there are bunch of signs outside so they make that clear. Overall it's a solid ice cream place. It's conveniently located near where i'm located which makes an easy stop for ice cream if my partner or I wants some ice cream. Only thing is that it was not particularly much different from other typical ice cream place. If you are looking for your standard ice cream and don't mind paying cash this is the place.

Never even knew it was there and they said it was open for at least a year or so I think. Lots of different flavored ice cream, (**sidenote, they have gluten-free cones! )my husband and I each got something yummy, although it was really good I was kind of disappointed to hear that the ice cream was Hershey's. Not a big fan of Hershey's company and I thought because it was a creamery that they made their own ice cream. So a little disappointed with that. BUT the two people serving the ice cream were very friendly, the place was clean and bright and there was outdoor seating as well with music playing. Wasn't too busy at the time which was great. Parking was a little tight because someone parked too close to our car and then someone parked in back of us which made it hard to back out but that didn't take away from the experience really, that was just people parking badly lol. Prices were reasonable, combinations that we had were good, and offering lots of different choices. I would definitely go back again even if they don't make their own ice cream it was still yummy.

I will say the portions are generous, but when you consider the quality, I personally wouldn't consider it worth it. I loveee ice cream and was so disappointed by it. The waffle cone is also wrapped in paper that is impossible to take off.

Clam cakes were tasty, freshly fried, with lovely crisp skin but not much clam. Asked the nice counter lady to recommend the version of doughboy to try and she suggested original or cinnamon sugar. Selected cinnamon sugar on the side. The original, quite fluffy, was somewhat bland tasting. Dusting with cinnamon sugar elevated both texture and taste. The doughs were light with a beautiful golden brown glow. Rhode Island clear chowder (extra broth) was okay but could be better.

We usually have dinner next door at the restaurant, and before heading home we walk over to Iggy's to grab a box of fresh doughboys to take with us. Somehow there's always room for doughboys. One of the things I appreciate most is the consistency. It doesn't seem to matter how busy they are, the doughboys are almost always fresh out of the fryer. They're light, golden brown, and cooked just right. I've never had one that was burnt, greasy, or raw in the middle. They strike a nice balance between having a crisp exterior and a soft, fluffy center, and they're generously dusted with enough sugar to satisfy a sweet tooth without making a complete mess. The menu has plenty of classic Rhode Island favorites if you're looking for chowder, clam cakes, or other seafood, but for us it's always about the doughboys. They've become part of the ritual whenever we're at Oakland Beach, and it's one tradition we don't plan on changing anytime soon. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is because this place is incredibly popular, especially during the warmer months. Depending on when you go, you may find yourself standing in line for a while. That's not necessarily a knock on the business because a busy restaurant usually says something about its reputation, but it's worth knowing if you're in a hurry. The prices are fair, the staff keeps the line moving as efficiently as they can, and the quality has remained remarkably consistent over the years. That's becoming increasingly rare. If you're spending the day at Oakland Beach and leave without stopping at Iggy's for doughboys, I think you're missing out on one of the area's best traditions. We'll definitely keep coming back.

I got the Big Ol' Burger and it was so good. Cooked perfectly, the special sauce was delicious and as you can probably tell from the photo, the fries were exactly what I was looking for. Everything tastes really fresh here. It has that farm-to-table quality, but in a relaxed, laid-back (but still really pretty) setting. We came for lunch and I loved that they had brunch options too. We didn't get any adult beverages but I was very tempted by the entire drink menu, so next time! Our service was also outstanding. Really everything was A+. Definitely a local spot that I need to remember to go to more often.

Once I ordered my soda I took in the ambiance of the bar, new lights, and the rest of the restaurant. It's not a large building but they make every inch count. Now, the reason you're reading this review- THE FOOD. I ordered the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich with a Caesar Salad. The chicken (photo below) was perfectly cooked, topped with hot honey, slaw, pickles, and ranch then placed on a soft brioche bun. The meal was reasonably priced as well at $33 which included tip. I will absolutely be back to the Shanty next time I'm in town.
