Three Sisters has become one of our favorite places to grab ice cream on the East Side. It's a great little shop on Hope Street, and if you're already spending time in the neighborhood, it's an easy place to recommend. The hardest part of visiting is deciding what to order. They have a huge selection of flavors, and every time we go in I end up standing there longer than I planned because there are so many tempting choices. It's the kind of problem every ice cream shop should have. The ice cream itself is outstanding. It's fresh, creamy, and packed with flavor without feeling overly heavy. Every flavor we've tried has been excellent, and it's easy to see why this place has developed such a loyal following. In my opinion, it's the best ice cream on the East Side. Just be prepared to wait if you're stopping by on a nice evening. The shop is fairly small inside, and it's not uncommon for the line to stretch right out the front door. Thankfully, the staff keeps things moving, and the wait has always been worth it. The prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality of the ice cream and the generous portions. Parking can be a little hit or miss since it's mostly street parking, although there are a handful of spaces behind the building. Somehow we've been lucky the last few visits and managed to grab a spot right out front, even when there was a long line. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is because the small space and limited parking can make visiting during peak hours a little less convenient. Once you have your ice cream, though, it's hard to complain. If you're looking for fantastic homemade ice cream in Providence, Three Sisters absolutely deserves a visit. It is hard to get ice cream wrong, but three sisters does it so well! They have an extensive board of flavors (my favorite is the community kulfi!) Having a job that has me outside most of the day it is really nice to have a friendly space to stop in and cool off. There are no steps to get in, the menu board is large and readable, and they offer things like individual ice creams, smoothies, and milkshakes as well as larger tubs of their homemade ice cream, ice cream cakes, gift cards, and do in store pickup for online orders as well ​as delivery through doordash. read more

I love three sisters and I'm so happy they have more vegan/non dairy options now too! I miss the days when it was bigger but so happy they are still around with their ice cream. They even have pup cups now! I went tonight with some friends. A little bummed because you can only try one flavor before ordering now. I was between two vegan options and try the coffee Oreo. It tasted like banana to me and they informed me it is a banana and coconut base. I don't think the sign said banana so just be warned if you have an allergy. But I think the banana also helps keep it really creamy! I couldn't really taste the coffee so I ordered the other vegan option which is black raspberry Oreo! I asked them to clean the scoop before scooping mine for an allergy and they did and really did a fantastic job cleaning it, as I did not get sick (yay!) buuuuut they did give me the coffee vegan ice cream instead of what I ordered. Not the end of the world because it was still non dairy which is most important but wasn't what I wanted. I think she just forgot after she cleaned the scooper what I asked for. read more

This location offers homemade ice cream . They are rich in flavor and have fun unique flavors . They are on the pricey side. It is great ice cream though usually a reward for walking the boulevard trail . We stopped in and got our order in before the rush -- completely quiet only ones there . The menu is a lot bigger than before and they offer a couple of specials . The space however is a lot smaller so when the line suddenly went out the door I got a bit anxious . Someone had an oversized backpack and almost took me out when they turned . I ordered the frozen chai which was delicious . The description said it came with whip cream but mine did not . Overall: worth the hype in terms of price to quality ratio. Was really surprised by their wide selection and the homemade taste of their choices. Ice cream/Sorbet: The sorbet specifically felt very authentic because of its icy frosty nature. The ice cream was a nice creamy texture with well blended flavors. I come to Three Sisters pretty often, as far back as when this business used to be called Maximilians...so 20ish years and counting. I've had many different flavors and the one that stands out the most is the Peanut Butter Heaven! I'm not even a big peanut butter fan, but the flavors aren't very bold, but delicious, sweet and creamy. The staff are very good! They know their products inside and out. This is a small cafe, so I wouldn't plan on doing any work or being there for an extended period of time. Arguably the best ice cream in the state of Rhode Island! I was so busy eating it that I didn't even take a photo, but I ordered the combo that has brownies, blondies and cookies mixed into it and it was incredible. Being right at the end of Blackstone Boulevard and Lippett Park would make any ice cream parlor successful. However, Three Sisters earns their success! The ice cream is reliably good with creative flavor profiles, even some of the less expected flavors (kulfi, green tea). The line is out the door most spring & summer evenings, for a reason. The kitchen is open until 2pm and serves breakfast and lunch - not just microwaved precooked English muffin sandwiches either. I most often order eggs or an omelet-type plate and quality is generally high, although it can vary slightly based on who's cooking. Sandwiches and egg plates are ordered at the counter then delivered to your table (though the server may or may not bring silverware and napkins. If not, they're available at the table between the two rooms). The atmosphere is one of a real community space - local art on display, boards advertising music classes and local theater events, that sort of thing. I really like the place, but have to give it 4 not 5 stars. It's a solid 5 for the ice cream but 4 overall. The staff working the counter are often chatting with each other and thus service could be faster, and (as mentioned) the sandwiches and hot meals can vary in size and flavor, and presentation on the plate and at my table, from visit to visit. read more

Had a small scoop of coffee ice cream in a waffle cone and my wife had a small scoop of monkey business in a cup . Monkey business was banana ice cream with chocolate chip. Very creamy with a strong banana taste . The coffee ice cream was also very creamy and had a nice coffee flavor. I also liked that the waffle cone wasn't huge and that a small scoop was small. The prices were very reasonable it was my ice cream with the waffle cone was around 5 dollars and the small cup in the cup was around 4 dollars . On a recent visit to Providence, I met some relatives at Three Sisters for breakfast. What was impressive about Three Sisters was the friendliness of the staff and the quality of the coffee (at least compared to the coffee I bought other mornings at the Gulf station up the street :-). I ordered the traditional eggs, homefries and toast breakfast and asked that the homefries be extra well done. My order and that of my cousin arrived together and it was obvious that neither of our home fries were extra well done. Aside from that, the breakfast tasted as it should. I liked the informalness of the restaurant. Though prices were a little steep, it was worth the price for the relaxed atmosphere and vibe. I will be curious next visit to see how their home made ice cream compares to Brickley's ~ RI's gold standard! read more

Best ice cream in providence hands down. Creative flavors but also use of normal chocolatey goodness flavors. The community kulfi is to die for. The peanut butter sauce, chocolate flavors, the garden mint is like real fresh mint it's insane. I'm from NYC where you'd think we have everything but I've never had ice cream this good. I am already sad that I will miss this place when I leave. I frequently buy 3 pints at a time to stock up. You won't regret it!!! They used to have the most incredible hazelnut coffee that was unsweetened. I don't know what happened to it but it's fine forever and it was the best coffee I've ever had. Three Sisters, I think this is the 2nd time I've been to three sisters in the last couple years. Last night after dinner I suggested that we go out for some ice cream. We got there a little after 8 pm. There was a very short wait. The young girl behind the counter was extremely pleasant and nice. I ordered the Kulfi & my wife got the Vegan Strawberry Banana flavor. We sat outside enjoying the cool fall temps. A balmy 48 degrees. I loved it, she got cold within ten minutes. However, she said her's tasted like one of my fresh smoothies that I make at home. I tasted it and the flavors were popping for sure. For me the cardamom, pistachio and cinnamon, all mixed in one, got my taste buds exploding in a good way. Rich & creamy, exactly what you would expect. I also ended up getting a pint to go, the Coconut Almond Joy. Just had a couple of bites, WOW! Definitely my favorite ice cream now. Solid ice cream stop with lots of flavors to choose from. Their parking situation is a little weird though. Although they have a huge parking lot behind it, it says towing enforced. And it really does seem like they tow - even though it was completely empty and would've been so convenient. Street parking around the area is tough since its a busy area with narrow neighborhood streets next door. They had so many flavors - and they were really nice about letting us try whatever we wanted to try. I also liked a lot that they said they had lactaid available too - the first ice cream shop I've ever seen that had that listed on their menu. Being lactose intolerant myself, I though it was so sweet and considerate and inclusive of my fellow lactose intolerant ice cream lovers (although I had my own lactaid with me, of course). I ended up just getting a basic strawberry ice cream (my favorite), which was solid flavor! I did think it had a slightly icy texture though. Not like super creamy. The type of ice cream that feels like it has little ice chunks that you can chew on? Good flavor but I just prefer my ice cream creamier and not icy like that. Overall solid though! As we all know by now - I'm all about coffee and the bacon, egg and cheese!!! Coffee is new Harvest coffee and is sold in many sizes hot and cold - a few are flavored, hurray! With like 6 different milk and vegan creamer options! No pepper Jack which is my fave, that's fine. The bagel was absolute charred though which was sad as I'd rather an untoasted than over toasted. It was ok and don't think I'd get another. That being said i knowwwww their ice cream is amazing! And they have pastry options too! They also have a free rewards program! Love that! read more

Visited a few friends in Providence over the weekend and they led me to Three Sisters! It was a very cute cafe with a lot of menu options for breakfast, lunch and homemade ice cream! The food and ice cream flavors were very creative and I appreciated that. This is definitely our go to ice cream place, mostly because we can walk to it but also because I really love their dirty garden mint. Although there is now not very much indoor seating, we love the location by the park and can usually find an open bench or enjoy the Ice cream walking along blackstone. This is a nice, quaint ice cream shop off of Hope St. It's very close to Blackburn and right across the street from the park so it's a great place to visit on a nice day. I had a serious craving for some ice cream and a brownie so I decided to check the place out. I ordered a brownie and a scoop of ice cream (which is cheaper than the Brownie Sundae they advertise--Yelper Hack!). I was hoping to try their 'Cake Batter' ice cream, but the server was confused by the signage and gave me the wrong ice cream, which is pictured below. After realizing that it wasn't Cake Batter, I went back and asked if I could swap it for what I originally requested and he obliged. He then gave me the supposed Cake Batter, and I'm still uncertain if it was the right option this time or not because it tasted like plain Vanilla ice cream. I chose not to bicker and take it for what it was. It was a bit of a let down and the brownie wasn't anything spectacular. It wasn't moist or fresh, and was on more of the drier side of the "Brownie spectrum". I may visit again. I wanted to find a nice ice cream shop in my area, but I don't think this is the place. Three sisters always delivers when we're in the need for ice cream. This time Alex got a purple cow milkshake while Julianna got two scoops of a special snickers flavor. The place was packed on a warm summer evening, but the staff were well seasoned to the evening rush and got us our orders in a quick turnaround time. My family came to this cafe/restaurant on a Sunday. It was not clean and we will never go back. The tables and bench had food waste all over them, there was trash on the floor, and the bathroom (including the toilet) looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks. The crazy thing is that the place wasn't busy, and there were 3 young workers who could have been tidying up but were just hanging around when we came in. We had already purchased our sandwiches when we discovered the mess, so it was too late to cancel the order. But the sandwiches were disappointing anyway. I can't speak to how good their ice cream is, but I don't trust a place that doesn't value sanitation. read more
