I stopped by The Inside Scoop during the RI Food Fights best scoop RI competition. I was expecting a line, but I was surprised to see the line extended all the way to the street. I originally parked in the small lot on the right (when facing the building) and it was a very tight squeezed, but then realized there was a much larger parking lot on the other side, so I moved over there. It's been a while since I've visited The Inside Scoop. The last time I remember going, you went inside and ordered the ice cream. I'm not sure when they switched to the window, but I found it to be much more convenient than many people being squished inside a small space to order. There were lots of choices of ice cream to try, but I ultimately picked blueberry pie in a sugar cone. It was delicious. My mom picked peppermint (her favorite flavor) and was very happy with how many chunks of candy were in it. The employee that took our order was very friendly and seemed to scoop our ice cream well. I stopped by here after work this week as part of the RI FOOD FIGHTS #bestscoopshopri event. I used to live around the corner, so it was nice to visit here again. The heatwave was doing its thing, but luckily there's a good amount of shade in front of the building as you wait to be served. There's a tiny parking lot to the right of the boldly painted building, but an even bigger one to the left. If you have a larger vehicle, I recommend parking in the left lot. Plenty of space for you there! The young woman at the counter was super peppy and was excited to scoop me her favorite, black raspberry Oreo, on special that week. I grabbed extra napkins because the humidity outside was already working against me. I walked over to the seating area on the side and got to work quickly before nature won. The black raspberry ice cream was cool and creamy, great raspberry flavor without tasting artificial as some do. The oreos adding some chocolatey richness to the experience. It felt indulgent and refreshing. I basically inhaled it so I wouldn't wear it but every bite was fantastic. Inside Scoop has been there for ages, and for good reason. I am participating in the Rhode Island Food Fights 9th Annual Ice Cream Event and this was my tenth stop. They have a parking lot with about 6 spots and a few wooden picnic tables to enjoy the ice cream. I ordered one scoop of sweet cream and another scoop of blueberry pie. The sweet cream tasted a lot better when I sampled it, but after a while, it just tasted like a slightly better vanilla. The blueberry pie tasted slightly more subtle than other versions I've had; I did like that it had chunks of a blueberry but I would've liked more whole pieces of oats/crust. The ice cream was a little soft which made for a drippy mess. The staff was kind and had our orders out quick. read more

We stopped by today during a mini day trip to North Kingstown and were thoroughly impressed! They have a convenient location with ample parking and a variety of flavors to choose from. The staff working the counter were efficient and kind as well, definitely nice to see. I chose the cherry vanilla which was great! I felt the ice cream could have had a little more cherry flavor- it tasted like a sweeter vanilla. But, the consistently itself was outstanding. Very creamy and indulgent. One of my favorite ice cream shops in all of RI, The Inside Scoop never disappoints. This is my usual spot to get ice cream while driving home from the beach, and although the lines may look long, they move along very quickly and are definitely worth the short wait. Service is friendly, portion sizes are large, and the shop just puts me in a cheerful mood. Ice cream is made on site, and it is so delicious. They have a wide variety of flavors, but I usually go with my old stand by: cookie dough. Waffle cones are also made on site and are absolutely perfect! Sometimes house made waffle cones leak out the bottom, but not these! Inside Scoop has many toppings available, and I love that sprinkles are free! One of these days I'll try a parfait - they always look so yummy in the freezer case, but I don't have the patience to let them thaw for the required time before eating. We were CRAVING icecream and since some friends have been raving about this shop , we HAD to stop!! And WOW. I'm glad we did. We sat out on the picnic bench and then took a ride to the beach! Although there was a lot of people here the service was on point and very quick, the lady working the window was extremely friendly and kind, we didn't feel rushed which ordering and looking through all of the flavors/toppings to choose from. We were really excited to try out this place and were so glad we did! It's blowing up on social media and is pretty much always busy right up until closing time, and for good reason too. For the line, it was pretty quick and the prices are pretty reasonable for the portion. They have a broad and delicious assortment of flavors, too. Bing cherry was my favorite of the 6 we tried. I appreciate that the ice cream is homemade and the portions are generous, but I was disappointed in my scoop of ginger. The ginger flavor was barely detectable, there was no spiciness to it whatsoever, and I was only able to see a few sprinkle-sized pieces of candied ginger. It tasted more like a very creamy vanilla, which was good but not what I was looking for. Also, the ice cream was not very firm and melted quickly. I was totally excited that they finally opened for the season. I ordered a large, soft frozen yogurt swirl with hot fudge. I was shocked as it was handed to me looking like YOGURT SOUP and when I got to my car and started eating it, it was yogurt soup. I don't understand how in LESS than 5 minutes of ordering it, having it handed to me, going to my car, and having to suck this down that it was so soupy. Yum!!!! Generally I form an opinion on an ice cream shop based on their cookie dough ice cream, that is always my go to. I was super impressed by the cookie dough at The Inside Scoop. It was so delicious and chock full of cookie dough chunks! I hate when it ends up mostly being chocolate chips and vanilla, this was definitely not the case at the Inside Scoop. The location is well maintained. They have picnic tables outside and ample parking. Only con is that it is on the main road, so getting out can sometimes be a pain. I think this may be my first time having bubblegum ice cream. It was ice cream flavored like bubblegum and loaded with colorful gumballs. I was surprised that there was actual gumballs in the ice cream and swallowed them so hopefully I'll be okay. Service was quick and friendly. Yum yum oh yum!!! For some odd reason, I have never found really creamy "fresh from the cow" ice cream in Rhode Island. That ended when I went to The Inside Scoop. Their ice cream tastes like utters have touched that stuff the very same day. All of their flavors were SO creamy. I got the Cabinet, which I had to google before trying. Apparently, this isn't referring to a storage device inside your kitchen. It's an ice cream concoction local to Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts that consists of coffee ice cream, coffee syrup and milk. Wow - it was such a wonderful treat. I love milkshakes, I love coffee, and I love Rhode Island, so a drink encapsulating all three of these things deserves all the love. Quick tip: Parking can be a bit difficult on a crowded day. My wife and I had heard about the Inside Scoop's Parfaits, so we treated ourselves to one each - The Classic, and The Oreo. Both were scrumptious, and in a very real sense each was a meal in itself! Master Scooper John describes his parfaits as "A Cake In a Cup" - that's an accurate description. Tip - they are frozen concoctions, so you need to plan ahead and get them at least 15-30 minutes before you plan to eat them. Pick them up on your way to the beach and they'll be ready to enjoy by the time you arrive, if not before (depending upon beach traffic). Highly recommended! read more

Fun place for a quick treat. Tons of yummy flavors, fast service, and really nice staff.

Best ice cream we had in ages! So many yummy flavors to choose from! The staff was super helpful, getting us samples to try some of the unique flavors! The most popular were the two Oreo flavors - coffee Oreo and peanut butter Oreo. I also got a scoop of the grapenut ice cream - nice texture and had a breakfast cereal type flavor, mixed with vanilla, had never seen this before and was just right, much better than corn flakes cereal I had tried before, the grapenut held their texture and were a mild crunch. The whole place smelled decadent as we entered, as they had a fresh waffle maker and had been making new waffle cones from scratch. I got one of the waffle cones with my scoops, delicious and perfectly made, not even a little drip from the base, experts! The walls indicated a bunch of awards they had and newspaper articles recommending them, all well deserved! We had gone on a nearby cruise on the fast ferry line, this was about 10 minutes drive from the ferry pier. Good amount of free parking and some spots to eat your ice cream in nice weather. It was raining while we were there, so we ate inside while reading the info on the walls and watching folks, a steady business even on a dreary day. Fun spot, very tasty ice cream! They had sooooo many homemade flavors, they had at least 6 freezers, some you could see, some behind the staff, and more downstairs, filled with unique flavors! How did I used to live five minutes away from this place yet I've never been? This might be the best ice cream cone I've ever had in Rhode Island, if not ever anywhere! The chocolate dipped waffle cone was one of the biggest coins I've ever had in my life it was literally half the size of my head. The mocha chip and heath bar yogurts were absolutely amazing super creamy and delicious. Did I mention this ice cream cone lasted me all the way to my home in Coventry which is 27 minutes away.
