I stumbled upon this bar while in NY 8 years ago and met the most awesome bartender named Samy. I'm in NY again and I went into Iggy's weds night and he remembered me after all this time. I love to sing Karaoke so this is my go to place while visiting NY. DJ Dru and DJ Marjory are the best karaoke hostesses I've ever met. They made this California girl feel at home in NY. It's $2 a song to sing but who cares, I'd pay them $5 a song and tip them if that was the case cause these women are amazing. Samy, Cathy and Ryan made my last night in NY fun and enjoyable. To Cathy: I'm sorry for the assholes that treated you like crap last night and I hope to have you as a bartender again when I come back because you're amazing. I love Iggys! It has that divey feel that is so unique in NYC. I found this bar on Yelp and met friends for a great night. Service was quick and the TVs were on the game all night. ****PSA***** Stay clear of this dump. I was here on a Saturday night with a friend. He sat down and ordered a drink while I used the restroom. When I got back I got the bartenders attention and she proceeded to walk over to me, but then when she saw a larger group come in, she made a nose dive to them and completely blew me off. That should have been a red flag, but I was in a good mood so I just chalked it up to bad service. The next thing that happened completely blew me away. I went up to the DJ booth to do some Karaoke. I was looking through their song book, and came across Juicy by Notorious BIG, (one of my personal favorites) I knew that was the song. I proceeded to write down my song choice and hand it to the DJ. She looks at me and says, " Sorry you can't sing this here, the owner doesn't want any thug rap" as she hands me my money back. Not only is that not true, it was a highly ignorant and very rude statement. She just handed me my money back, and didn't even ask if I wanted to sing something else. It became pretty obvious what was going on here. I will never go back to this place. It's a dump, and the people that work there are rude and obviously racist. I will take my business elsewhere. If you are smart you will avoid this shit hole like the plague. read more

Had birthday party here. Spoke with Ryan (manager maybe?) two months in advance to plan. Was told I would have drink specials for my party (never happened). Came here to specifically sing karaoke. Put one song in early in the night. 2 hours later was told I was not allowed to sing because my friends were "harassing" the dj to allow me to sing. When I confronted dj to tell her I was disappointed especially since I saw the same 3 guys sing 5 different times she still insisted my party of 30 people sang too many times (one song was sung). I've been here numerous times for karaoke and every time I ask myself why I keep coming back here. I have no good answer for that anymore. My last visit here was truly the last straw. Their crowd was a mess. It was entirely barely legal patrons who obviously were having some kind of party since they were wearing matching shirts and there were empty pizza boxes laying around everywhere. They kept spilling drinks and breaking glasses and pushing and shoving. Most importantly, their karaoke host (D.J. Brooke) needs to be replaced. All the complaints about her on Yelp are entirely valid. My friends and I put in a bunch of songs, and then sat back for the next 2 1/2 hours while the same exact people sang over and over again. I understand they must've put in 100 songs the second they arrived, but I think a good karaoke host should mix it up. It's also painfully obvious that her friends and big tippers get priority. While I was waiting 2+ hours to sing, a few people showed up and within MINUTES they were up and singing. Then they hugged her and left. I asked her how much longer I had, and she said 5 songs. She was either lying or other more important people must've showed up, because I didn't sing until another 10 songs. Not to mention the fact that she ALWAYS gets up to sing herself. It's one thing for the host to sing a song to kick things off, but singing repeatedly when it's so busy that people are waiting hours to sing? Obnoxious. I don't have fun here and will be going elsewhere for karaoke. There are other better places out there. read more

Went to Iggy's Friday night around 11. The place is a dive bar but they try to act like it's a high class lounge. Before I got to Iggy's, my friends and I had already been drinking. But the waitress kept hassling us to buy a drink. They had a 2 drink minimum if you sit at a table ($10 per drink) which really is a turn off for a neighborhood bar. We probably would have drunk more if she didn't bother us. The karaoke saves this place because it really is fun. I didn't sing but it was fun to watch and if I go back, I will definitely give it a try. The crowd is also very diverse which makes it a comfortable place to hang out with your friends. read more

I was just here for a friend's party, but, even as a karaoke fan, I otherwise avoid Iggy's. It's $2 to put a song in the queue, but if you bribe the DJ, you can get your and your friends' songs higher on the list. While I'm viscerally averse to such corruption, my friend did point out to me that a $25 bribe, while highway robbery, is still cheaper than paying for a noreban room with your friends. Still... this place just rubs me the wrong way. The atmosphere is divey, the crowd is douchey, and everyone is messy drunk. Maybe the one redeeming feature is that in between karaoke songs, the DJ plays fun dance tracks to keep the party going. read more

Great dive bar. Solidly cheap drink prices and karaoke. If you are avoiding crowds and douchy frat boys, don't go on a Friday or sat night. They have amazing karaoke DJ's. Where do I even begin... Last night was my final night in New York and all I wanted to do was sing a little Bonnie Tyler at this supposedly awesomely bad karaoke spot but instead I had what I can only describe as the worst night of all my time in the city. The man in charge of karaoke would not play our song and flat out lied to us (and others) about it as a gimmick to get us to stay longer and buy more drinks. He was rude and said awful things to myself and other customers. We patiently waited for THREE hours while people who had arrived after us sang repeatedly. Finally we frustratedly threw in the towel and headed out but were stopped by a full on brawl between a handful of dudes. The bartender lamented that it was the second fight that evening. The security guards pushed it outdoors but then wouldn't let us leave the bar (or give us drinks to compensate). All in all, the DJ and fight amounted to an awful evening and I recommend not wasting a dime at this establishment. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. My friends and I came here after dinner to have some fun and sing Karaoke. DJ Brooke was hosting the karaoke tonight and honestly she's terrible at her job. We paid her the required $2 per song, each of us had 1 song each and one song together which makes it 4 total songs. We handed them in relatively at the same time and are very familiar with karaoke so we were well aware that we had to wait some time. After waiting over 2 hours to sing a single song and seeing many people who arrived after us sing before us we went up to DJ Brooke to ask what was going on. She insisted we didn't pay our songs and put us in the didn't pay pile. After I went up and told her we did she assured us that we wouldn't loose our place ( why were we then in a different pile ?). After another 8 songs we sang 2 of our 4 songs ( she even had the audacity of asking one of us if we wanted a 1 song break... Are you serious ??!?) the we waited another 45 minutes to sing 3 out of 4 and my friend never got to sing her song. I find it interesting that she asked us if we wanted a break when there was another group of people literally going back to back in intervals within an hour. I'm not going to pull the race card but it makes me think. After this ordeal, it's clear DJ Brooke is terrible at her job I would highly recommend avoiding this place if your liking to have a good time. Your enthusiasm for karaoke will quickly fade after the long wait and incompetent staff. read more

Terrible place. The bartender didn't know what a PBR was and didn't know how to pour it. Was completely flat after she let it pour in like it was water from a cooler. When our food came out it sat on the counter and I had to get up and go get it. Server never came to us after we got our beers. Will never go back here. Terrible place. read more

This place once was a really cool place to hang out and sing your heart out, but it has turned into another overpriced dive bar on the Upper East Side. The layout of the place is cool and there's room to dance a bit, but it really seems to be mismanaged and could use some help. The DJs that worked the karaoke in the past were way better than the ones they have now, and the bartenders aren't as friendly as the old bartenders (Peter use to bartend there ans was the coolest guy, but I guess he bailed and took the coolness with him). Definitely not the place it once was. Hopefully Iggy himself will read this and do something, but the chances of that happening are slim to none when you have yuppies willing to pay $9 for a bottle of Corona. read more

Any night that you unexpectedly end up at Iggy's is a good night. Actually, I suggest you don't plan a trip there...just let it happen. It's nothing fancy, just your standard karaoke bar, but if you want to have just a hilarious night with friends (that you won't ever stop talking about), this is your spot. The crowd is all over the place, young, old, just people getting their Celine Dion or Frank Sinatra on. It's $2 per song, but who cares. The sign-up list is usually pretty long so if you want to get on stage, I suggest signing up as soon as you get there. The wait could be very long. That said, the place gets pretty crowded so be prepared for that. Good times all around though! read more

Great dive bar we stumbled upon while waiting to meet some friends in the area. The bartenders were all super nice and attentive. Pretty nice beer selection and good prices. They would've gotten an extra star except that there are no stairs up to the karaoke stage, which caused massive knee injuries when I drunkenly fell off the stage after singing a masterful duet of Meatloaf's I Would Do Anything For Love (but I won't do that). Oh, and if you you heard me singing Eric Clapton's Layla, please just pretend that I had my tonsils removed earlier that night or something. If you like karaoke on the UES, this is the place. Very nice bartenders, booths, and drinks. The only other downside is that the karaoke screen is rather small and my eyes suck, so I end up having to improv lyrics. read more

This place is terrible. Went with my girlfriends to sing some karaoke and have a good time. It was disgusting (puke on the floor, in the bathroom), but that wasn't even the issue. Basically, if you're not a "regular" here, don't expect to sing even one karaoke song the whole evening. I put my song in and 3+ hours later, I STILL hadn't been called up... meanwhile about 15 other people (no joke) who had arrived long after us all were magically called up first. I finally asked for my $2 back (it's $2/song) and we left. The DJ seems to put everyone she knows and/or likes ahead of other people who might have had their songs in first -- the reason I know this is because a bunch of people I met there who I told about my long wait said, "I'll go put in a good word for you if you want, I know the DJ!" I'm still not sure why people return to this hole in the wall when this city offers much better kareoke offers. For one thing, upon arriving to Iggys the place was absolutely dead, with one guy up at from singing Britney Spears. I figured I'd hang around for a bit and see how the night progresses. Eventually ordered a burger and fries, which were both dry but not all together unedible. Then the crowd came in. A very young looking bunch sat at the table next to my friends and I, and just as I whispered to her "they've GOT to be kids", almost as if on cue one of them began a conversation with her saying "I'll still come here even when I turn 21". Moved away from that crowd as best I could (which was hard since the place was packed almost wall to wall) and onto the bar which I enjoyed a bit more, until people started bumping into the seats every souple of seconds. Not their fault, theres barely any room to walk from the front door to the back where the kareoke area was. As the place cleared out a bit, I noticed the young group was still there, and in come another group of maybe 5 or 6 to join them saying something quite loudly about how they couldn't get into another bar so came here. Major wtf-age. VERY reluctantly came back to Iggys the next week due to a friends request. He had never been to a kareoke bar but didn't want to travel far and lives in the area. The begining of the night was much better this time around, we stayed at the bar and chatted with the bartender who was nice enough. Aaaaand then the same exact underage crowd came in. No id checks, not a second look. I'm not one to rain on anyones parade, but the last thing I want to see at a bar I'm at is a bunch of kids who can't control their liqour and are being blatantly obvious about the fact that their underage. That combines with the filthiness of this place, the lack of space, and just the plain fact that it's got nothing to offer that you can't get somewhere else makes it a no go for me. This is not a private room karaoke place, it is a normal bar that has karaoke. Okay so there are insanely long waits to sing your song, but other than that the bar is really fun. There is no real rhyme or reason to who gets to go when, the dj is doesn't seem t go in the order. But that's okay because it prevents repeats of artists or slow songs. The song list is huge. Most of the people are really friendly and will let you get up and sing with them. I've been the past 2 Saturdays nights and they were awesome. The bartenders are nice which is great! We never go to the lower east side so we didn't really know what to expect from Iggy's. We ordered some vodka sodas and the soda water tasted weird. Also, the bartender took forever. The plus side was there were places to sit and a jukebox so that made the experience more enjoyable. read more

Very dive-y but a good place to meet a couple of friends for a quick drink if you are on the upper east side. They have karaoke but it is so popular that there is usually a 2 hour wait to perform. And it is veryyy loud. There is a front bar which is away from the karaoke area but the music/armature vocals overpower any conversations at the bar. I pretty much lost my voice from trying to talk. It's also not very group friendly because the bar is vertical leaving little to no room between the bar & wall/walkway for people to get to the back. I love iggys!!! It's underrated because it's next to the stumble inn. Iggys is so much more fun - I actually stopped in one night after drinking heavily at the stumble inn and I'm happy I did! The bartenders are great (especially Danny!) and the karaoke, while very random, is always fun. Can't wait to get back there soon. read more
