Had a nice time here after happy hour that I missed. Was pretty quiet on a Wednesday night. They have a good selection of draft beers. The food was just ok. I mean the burger patty was thicker than usual. But the bun and fixings were pretty low budget & plain. Fries looked to be straight out of the frozen bag. Plain. However, bartender seemed very enthusiastic and happy with the patrons. The atmosphere was "happy". Seemed like lots of locals who were happy to be there. They do add a 20% tip automatically and also a fee for not paying cash. So consider that before you sign that bill in the darker lit bar. I'll come back.

The fries were a sleeper. the rest of the food was good too but the fries hit different! Pairs well with a nice cold one as well. I came for lunch it wasn't crowded, service was good. Looks like they have different specials for lunch.

Came on an off day (Tuesday) and accidentally stumbled upon a stand up and comedy night! Fun little spot for hanging out, singing a couple tunes, and a few drinks. Didn't try any food but I would imagine it's regular bar food, nothing special (not claiming to be a fancy restaurant). Only reason 4 instead of 5 stars was place was far from packed and had a hard time getting the bartenders attention at times. Other than that solid spot!

We came here to watch the game with a few friends. I made a reservation the week prior with Eddy(ie) who was super polite and helpful over the phone and in person. We arrived and hung out to watch the game, ordered a couple of pitchers of bud light, and an order of sweet potato fries. The fries were standard bar food and the beer was fine. The ambiance was loud and rowdy as was expected. It was a lot of fun, it didn't get too out of control and was an exciting environment to be in. The wait staff was a little rude, but it was also hard to hear given that the game and patrons were so loud. It was somehow charming in that there was a dive bar feel that felt cozy to relax in. Might be back if there's another game!

Lucy is the best bartender there, attentive and quick. Definitely knows how to manage a bar quickly and efficiently, Super impressive! She's also a conversationalist. Food is decent and drinks are great! Check them out for sure! Will definitely be back- thanks to Lucy!

This is a genuinely strange place with an extremely weird crowd and bad bartenders. Drinks are also terrible.

Fun karaoke bar. Good vibes and a playfully rowdy crowd. Only macros on draft. Saw some TVs but they weren't on during a weeknight visit.

Everything was quick, no waiting. Food was very good. I had the chopped salad with salmon, my wife had the grilled cheese with tomato bisque. Everything was pretty much perfect. Where we sat, we could see the open kitchen and the open fire oven. My cousin's kids were really interested in it. It got a little noisy when more parties were sat, but we could still mostly hear each other. Plus the host took a pic of all of us and the storefront when I asked. Not everywhere will do that. Only negative I could say is that it was a bit pricey, but I figured that's New York City pricing, as it was $30 for my salad plus salmon, which is only like $18-20 here in Maryland. But overall, still an A+.

Only 3 stars or so for the food. It was ok, but didn't knock my socks off. I mean, it really was fine, but not the wow I'd been led to expect. And then less than 2 stars for the ambiance, which makes me sad. The decor was fine up to a point. Lovely bar stools. But the corner we sat in? None of the photos on the walls around us were straightened or hung equally. It was a bit disturbing (ie not relaxing) and confusing to the eye. And the music was this weird mash up of disco and 70s harder rock. Weird, as it is supposed to be a higher end dining experience. Hm. I would hire the server, but would look someplace else to spend my money on another meal in the area.

We asked if we were able to just sit at a table for drinks, she said yes. The wine selection was minimal and not good, but we ordered 2 glasses anyway. He begrudgingly said okay. After being there 10 minutes, we decided we wanted an appetizer so went for the tuna crudo. Not did it taste awful, it didn't even look appealing. It also oddly came out with a massive piece of grilled bread?! Bizarre combo. Do yourself a favor and just sit in Bryant Park, don't waste your money here.

It was our first time eating at a Friedman's location. It had a nice diner feel to it, with a mix of booths and tables. The brunch menu has a variety of breakfast items, salads, sandwiches and burgers, starters, and entrees (fish tacos, grain bowl, fried chicken). I like that several of the items are naturally gluten free, and some can be made gluten free by request. We decided to go with three breakfast items from the brunch menu: I got the shakshuka, my sister got the Nova Benny, and we got the lemon ricotta pancakes to share. All 3 dishes were great. The shashuka came with grilled ciabatta, perfect for dipping into the sunny side eggs and tomato sauce. My sister loved that the poached eggs and smoked salmon of the Nova Benny came on top of a crispy potato latke. The pancakes were fluffy and the lemon ricotta and lemon zest elevated their flavor. Our server was friendly and attentive, and he asked us if we had any allergies when he took our order. He came by several times to check on us and refill water. I would return to Friedman's when I'm in the Herald Square area, or check out one of their other locations in the city.

We loved it so much we went back and second time for dinner. The first night we sat at the bar (it was crowded and we didn't have reservations) and made some friends who recommended Ivan's (the bartender) espresso martinis. Although we were drinking some white wine we decided after finishing those we would try them. Ivan makes them special with a little Bailey's! They were incredible! Like a dessert but not too sweet. Ivan shared his recommendations with us and we had some good conversation. We ordered a pasta dish with shrimp and Brussels salad as well. All very tasty. A couple of nights later we went back and had the rigatoni with red sauce which was phenomenal and our favorite and the Toscana salad, also great. The pastas taste homemade and everything is so fresh, including the bread. We of course ordered espresso martinis again and Ivan thought it might be us again and came by to say hi. He makes the restaurant feel like family! I will definitely be returning to this restaurant in my next visit. It is now my favorite restaurant in New York! Thank you so much Ivan!

I sat at the bar and ordered a simple pasta with red sauce, some meatballs, and broccolini. The pasta was perfectly al dente and absorbed the red sauce nicely. I appreciate that I was not offered grated cheese or fresh ground pepper. It was served as the chef intended, showing off the tomatoes, accented only by the herbs and spices. It was not too oily either, if anything it could have had a touch more, but again this let the tomatoes come through. The pork and beef. meatballs are dense and served in a thickened tomato sauce. The bread that comes with it is nice for finishing that gorgeous sauce which does have a sprinkling of parm. The broccolini had a a touch of garlic and served with a lemon. You can judge a restaurant by its guests. The other solo diners beside me were locals, there for the food. Next time I'll try the vodka sauce with burrata.
