Each has a Little Italy and other neighborhoods where you can experience the food, traditions, and culture of different communities. That's probably one of my biggest complaints about Indianapolis, there just isn't anything. Then you find this little Italian market tucked away in a Bloomington strip mall. Being Sicilian and Italian, every time I head down to Lake Monroe to take the boat out, Little Italy Market has become a mandatory stop to fill the cooler. The Turkey and the Many Meats are my go-to sandwiches, and they never disappoint. Everything is fresh, the portions are huge, and these are easily some of the best deli sandwiches I've found anywhere in Indiana. I actually find myself craving them when I'm back home in Indy. If I lived in Bloomington, I'd definitely be a regular for the Italian grocery selection too. But for me, the sandwiches are the star of the show. The family running the place is always incredibly friendly, and they're more than happy to add or change anything on a sandwich to make it exactly how you want it. Little Italy Market is one of those locally owned places you hope sticks around forever. Great food, huge sandwiches, friendly people, and a little taste of the Italian neighborhood culture I miss. I'm literally writing this on a Friday morning waiting for noon to roll around so they can open before I head down to the lake. That probably says everything you need to know. Easy 9.3/10 If you're in Bloomington, this place is absolutely worth a stop.

Great variety of Italian imports. Fresh made sandwiches were huge and tasty! Definitely a find in…read moreBloomington Indiana!

Here's the rest of the review: I've been looking forward to eating here all week. We made plans to come here this weekend. I thought it would be really great to try the pizza buffet and sample different kinds of pizzas. However, that is only served from 11:30-1 and I didn't know that. We got there at 5:17pm and left at 6:15pm. We were both thoroughly disappointed in everything this place had to offer. The service was non-existent. The server checked on us twice but mostly stayed in the far corner, face down on the counter like she was asleep. My bf's drink sat empty on the edge of table for over 10 minutes before she appeared and refilled it. She never asked if I wanted a refill on mine. The food was technically edible. Their "pasta" section consists of only chicken Alfredo. The chicken was overcooked and rubbery. It felt like it had been reheated several times. The noodles were under done and gummy. The Alfredo sauce was the most confusing of all. It was sweet and tasted like thousand Island dressing. I had my bf try it and he agreed, it weirdly tasted just like thousand Island dressing. My bf's Hangover burger wasn't bad, but it had a Kraft single on it. Which is not real cheese and didn't melt onto the patty. Just stayed a rubbery mess on the burger. The pretzel bites came from a frozen bag from Walmart. They were overdone and hard. Probably bc the "cook" kept coming out front to talk to the waitress. We could hear things sizzling in the kitchen for a good 5-10 minutes while he was up front with the server. At one point one of the employees came up front and said "the pizza tastes like shit! Like actually just tastes like shit!" 1) it's bad when the employees think the food is awful 2) they probably shouldn't exclaim that to an entire restaurant. I am a store and restaurant manager and I am state food safety certified. I observed many health and food violations as well. Improperly stored food, food and ingredients without labels or dates, uncovered communal food, personal food and beverages stored with food to be served, kitchen employees with long hair not tying it up or tied back, kitchen employees going to the restroom and other parts of the restaurant with their apron on. If this were my work kitchen I would be embarrassed and ashamed. Morally, I wouldn't be able to serve people food. I would never return here or eat from here. I wouldn't risk it for the food poisoning biscuit.
