Like some businesses, iHop has had to recalibrate. New staff compared to 1+ year ago. Taking longer to get seated, and seems longer to get my order. Generally what one might expect for a chain restaurant. I do not need cream for my coffee, nor do i want jelly for my toast, but I do want coffee shortly after I'm seated. Sometimes I get a carafe of coffee, that is preferable, but sometime i only get one cup and have request a refill. Location has been busier on weekends. read more

So we just moved to Gum Springs and are remodelling a house, so we've been eating at this local IHOP a lot in the last two months, and I was fully prepared for the usual IHOP bad service no drinks etc, and totally stunned to find the opposite. Even when the IHOP is packed the staff is working diligently to see that drinks are full and plates are full. A waiter when dropping off a slew of plates to our table the other week accidentally had the bottom of another plate hit the top of my food plus a napkin and he took that plate away remarking "never know where all that could have been, need to make you something that looks nice and is what you paid for" The waitresses actually like kids, and the restaurant is always spotless. If I could give them a zero I would... they were awful! Slow as molasses, zero interaction, we had to ask for drinks, the food came out wrong and it took forever to get so we were so hungry that we just ate. I asked for my sirloin tips to be medium rare they came out medium well, my eggs were supposed to be over easy, they were over medium. We checked and our server had 3 tables.... THREE... there was absolutely ZERO reason to get thus type of service. I would spoken to the manager but I'm not sure that would have made much of a difference since it took the table next to us had to wait 10 minutes to get their check. When I say don't go there if you have anything to do afterwards, I mean it. Food comes out quickly for breakfast, but wow, not for anything else. They ALWAYS take forever to return my card or change to me after paying. This last time it was literally half an hour of me begging the woman to bring my card back... Shocked by how good the SERVICE was! Let's face it, IHOP is not gourmet food and usually you get really crappy service. Not this IHOP. We arrived during the Sunday brunch rush and were given a large table. Our waitress immediately brought our drink orders and took our food order shortly after. When the food arrived, one of the pancake orders was missing the strawberries. The manager overheard us politely asking for the strawberries and immediately brought out a big plate of them. So I've been to IHOP many many times in my life and it they always do a great job with the quality of food. Most of the time I order the steak omelet because I know it will always fill me up just right. I can't say anything is spectacular about this particular ihop, it pretty much the same. (Linda and Karla are good backups) The waitresses take the time to know the regulars, food is always good, hot and fast. Mimi is a delight, friendly and attentive. DO NOT go for dinner. Each time we have gone for dinner they have been understaffed, slow, unattentive. Last time (because I believe things can improve) we were seated, had our orders taken, 35 minutes later still did not have our food, walked out, across the parking lot to Ruby Tuesday. Not as terrible as the other local IHOP, but very close. I always give them the benefit of the doubt. Don't sit near the kitchen as there are always loud arguments going on. Make sure to be very specific with your order as they will bring you something else if you aren't. Completely uninterested in customer service. Food was beyond mediocre, in a bad way. Great steak omelette had about 5 grungy little pieces of steak - but mostly consisted of undercooked mushrooms. This place has the worst management ever. I went to have my breakfast and accidently forgot my wallet on the table but I literally came back in 3 mins and they already took my money. IHOP is pure comfort food. It's got delicious food in a comfortable environment. Plus it's one of the cheapest restaurants around. I'm moving this restaurant to 5 stars because each time I'm disappointed after eating at an expensive restaurant I think to myself "I should have gone to IHOP...it would have been cheaper and the food would have been good."
