We recently tried Roseina's for the first time Roseina's is take-out. We picked up a steak sandwich, pulled pork sandwich, mushroom soup, baked corn casserole and potato salad. Our order was prepared quickly and correctly. Everything we ordered was delicious. We especially liked the mushroom soup and steak sandwich. The baked corn casserole was no slouch either. In addition to sandwiches (which include burgers), Roseina's has salads, several hearty entrees and dessert options. I ordered soup and two meals for myself to enjoy. The butternut squash and cinnamon soup was delicious. I had to add moisture and flavor to the individual meatloaf entree (sweet soy sauce - kecap manis). The chicken margarite was the biggest disappointment. It looked like diced white meat chicken had been added just before serving the dish instead of being stewed in the "creamy lime sauce" which I didn't enjoy. I couldn't finish that dish. I will plan not to order from Roseina's again. read more

The place isn't hard to find, but is also one of those places that you have to be looking for to find since it's tucked away in a random neighborhood. I've been here twice now and both times I enjoyed what I got. The first time they had a caprese sandwich which was great, but they didn't have it the next time I went so I got the jerk chicken wrap. The wrap was okay, it was more like a salad with a little bit of chicken in a wrap, which if you're trying to be healthy is a good thing. They have a good selection of other dishes and entrees so I'll have to go back to try something else. read more

we have been customers since it was started, but recently, maybe because new owners, servings are thin. The pulled pork barbecue sandwich used to be big, with a pile of pork and enough barb sauce to cover. Tonight, we ordered that sandwich and were unpleasantly surprised to see a hamburger bun with so little meat that it wasn't visible unless you took off the top off of it. the Cole slaw was in a tiny cup with a lid, more like something you'd use for a little ketchup. Holy cow! I forgot how good the food is at this place. I got the filet mignon daily special with asparagus, carrots and potatoes with a peppercorn sauce. Delicious! I've been eating meals from this place for 25 years. Turned on by my parents. Many times several of the daily specials sell out. They offer lunch and dinner. The staff here are really helpful and friendly. We moved to the area recently and looked up the restaurants in the immediate area, which is how we found Roseina's. We ordered the grilled portobello sandwich and the mozzarella, basil, and tomato. Both were great. The potato salad side was okay, but not amazing. They have dill pickle chips. Yum. My son and i were hungry leaving Mount Vernon. We Googled "Club Sandwich". The first choice Roseina"s. At first we were going to leave since there was no seating but we stayed because it smelled good and the menu looked intriguing. We ordered Steak sandwich for my son and Shrimp bisque and Turkey club for me. As we waited I chatted with the friendly young staff and watched this little lady working in the kitchen so hard and efficiently. Quickley out came or bag and off we went to my truck to enjoy a great fresh and tasty lunch. We wish great thing for this business and would welcome you to Harford County Maryland. As a Hollin ball local, I love that we have a cool little spot to go to once in awhile that has great customer service and good bites. I never usually get the same thing there but their sandwiches always hit the spot, and feed you well. Like today I got the smoked turkey avocado and just a great simple bite. We had take out of the kids Pasta, chicken and broccoli dish... it was expensive for $11.75, the Creole shrimp for $16.45... tasted like it came out of a soup can, and the Greek Chicken and tomato dish for $16.25.... it was ok, but I actually did not want to finish it. The portions were small for the price. The rice was mixed into both dishes and not on the side. The food tasted, pre-made and reheated. It would be interesting so see if we could have ordered the rice on the side (how it should have been served and not mixed in the dish like a can of soup). The dishes were both gelatinous as if too much corn starch was used. Not very satisfying, and very expensive kids pasta. read more

Best local takeout in Alexandria. This place has been there since my childhood and it's never done me wrong. The jerk chicken wraps and salad is sensational. The sides are all solid, especially the corn casserole and the beans and rice. I used to work in the same shopping center when I was in high school, and I'd feel all adult when I'd walk over and order myself a little side salad. The dressing was so good, I was always coming back for more! It's true, they don't have seating. But they are a good enough institution in the area to make up for it. The sandwiches coming out of Roseina's are INSANE. My boyfriend and I split a Reuben and a Chicken Salad sandwich, and I've been craving chicken salad ever since. Just full of flavor and good chunks of chicken. Everything was served on the good kind of bread too. My Mom opted for a grilled chicken salad and she said the homemade dressing was noteworthy. My favorite spot in Alexandria! Whenever I'm in town, this is a must! Their jerk chicken is a great go-to, cajun chicken pasta is so yummy and their shrimp creole is a nice amount of spice too! We have loved Roseina's for years since it was founded. As a result we buy gift certificates directly from Roseina's and give as gifts at Christmas and other special occasions. The intent being to share a meal with friends and to help bring the business customers. We were recently horrified to learn they are no longer accepting gift cards, even though they were purchased less than two months ago. We are aware of one recipient who has $200 worth of Roseina's gift cards, received while recovering from surgery, who is unable to use the thoughtful gifts. I discussed with the manager a month ago and she said they were getting a new credit card machine in a couple of days and would accept the gift cards then. I just checked back, a month later and was informed they would not honor the cards and "there was nothing they could do". This is shameful and disappointing behavior. Regrettably, we will be taking our business elsewhere. read more

Roseina's is a great little carryout. We've been visiting at least once a week since we moved to Fort Hunt. I love the cajun chicken wrap and the shrimp and jalapeno bisque. In the summer, the gazpacho is also really good. The staff is very friendly and professional (which, considering some of the service I get from high school-aged kids, is very impressive). Their moniker says it all, "Good food and fine wine to go." Yes, the one drawback is that Roseina's doesn't possess a license for customers to consume food on the premises. This is easily overlooked when taking into account the real-deal homemade dishes being served. The creole/cajun inspired meals change daily but they also maintain a menu of their classic entrees. Any of the sandwich offerings are also not to be missed for a filling lunch. Throughout the small shop there is a notable wine selection which can be chilled upon request. Other snack items are also available for purchase, like cookies and chips. The decor is reminiscent of days gone by and speaks to a 1960's kitchen, linoleum floor and all. Besides the stand-out cuisine, the warm and welcoming staff is enough reason to return to Roseina's, again and again. read more

I want to hate this place, and swear I won't go back, but back I go for another hamburger.. Again . It's almost $10 and comes with a small side of potato salad. The prices are high. The servings are normal to large but the quality is very good. I really love my $10 burger and only wish you were less expensive. Restaurant prices, good quality for take out food. Roseina's is great! Here are some things to try here: Shrimp and Bisque Soup: Not too spicey, very special! Gumbo: A chicken gumbo that hits the spot! Ask for it with the rice on the side and get a bit more of the good stuff. Burgers: A great burger that includes a bag of chips. I order it with extra bacon. The smoked gouda hits the spot. Jerk Chicken: This is a carry-over from the original Roseina's. The dipping sauce is exceptional, ask for extra sauce. To be honest, a number of the entrees are high priced, but if you choose well, there is some really good food here at reasonable prices. read more

New spot or at least new to me. Only one or two tables that seat two people, it's really for takeout. They have a fast changing menu with daily specials and things written on the chalkboard. We had a Caesar salad, pie, jerk chicken wrap, and potato salad. All homemade and delicious. The prices for things besides sandwiches/wraps are steep for a takeout place would probably be the only negative. But they even have craft beer and wine and tons of homemade desserts and interesting snacks. In an area with only chain restaurants, pizza, and Chinese, I am definitely adding this to the rotation for carry-out/delivery. read more

Quaint lil mom and pop carryout that has great service and awesome food. I usually get their Jerk chicken wrap and butternut squash soup. The jerk chicken wrap is seasoned just right and the squash soup is creamy, sweet with touch of cinnamon. Any sandwich you order comes with either Lay's potato chip or potato salad. Are we all reviewing the same place? This was our first time ordering from here and I couldn't be more disappointed (especially in light of the rave reviews and detailed chef's biography on their website). The "hot from our oven" baguette I was so excited about seemingly arrived at the restaurant par-baked--which would be okay, except that it was also sold to me that way. They warmed it through, but I had to actually finish cooking it myself. Next item in the bag was my jerk chicken Caesar salad. The chicken was a sad sight--pale and grey--and didn't taste much better. The lettuce was nearly shredded and included an unappetizing chunk of stem. The "house sauce" it was dressed with may or may not have been good; there wasn't enough of it to be able to tell. Also included were some mangled tomato slices (?); a few token slivers of soft, cheap Parmesan; and a scant handful of tiny supermarket croutons. No joke, the Sodexho Caesar wrap I get from the cafeteria at work is a more satisfying meal and a third of the price to boot. My wife's sausage and peppers wasn't any better, but I think I've probably said enough. It's so close and so highly rated that we'll probably try it again, but it's going to be a while. read more
