Hidden gem. Tremendous sandwiches, and outstanding pie. Everything on the menu is reasonably priced and incredibly consistent.

The Soup!!!! It is hard to find a place with multiple good soups on a regular basis. I am excited to try more sandwiches.

Seated right away in a beautiful room. Wished the fireplace was on, but the room was lovely nonetheless. If you visit in the winter and are cold easily, you might bring a shawl. We ordered brunch, starting with the skillet cornbread. Serving was small but perfect size for our party of 3, ladies. Delicious! I enjoyed my omelette and appreciated that the chef made my potatoes without peppers and onions. Omelette was yummy and big enough to take some home. We ordered an extra entree of the Mac & Cheese for the table and it was delicious! It came with green beans that were very yummy. We were disappointed that the attached store was closed during our visit (I think for inventory). But a great excuse to come back in the future for brunch and shopping. The wait staff was lovey and attentive. I highly recommend this charming venue for brunch or an event (the party rooms near the dining area were very nice.)

The Brie and Crackers with Strawberry Compote was also a tasty appetiser in ramp up to our entrees of Steak Frite and Bourbon Braised Shortrib. In hindsight, I would rather have the Grand Marnier French toast over the Hoe Cake. I was expecting the hoe cake to be grittier and more representative of colonial cooking. It was OK, but I think I could have gotten the same result using fine ground cornmeal and Bisquick. Service was quick and courteous, though some food items came out slower than others. Wife and I both agree the Bourbon Braised Short Rib was better than the Steak Frite which was a bit chewy, though flavorful. Chocolate Peanut Butter Mousse Pie was a good dessert to share as it was so rich. Wish we had room for coffee with that! Afterward we spent an hour just shopping at the gift shops. Parking is free. Be prepared for a short walk from the huge parking lot hidden behind a grove of trees. VIDEO of our lunch! https://youtu.be/bQWYCW6EZJc?si=UnNEgxx1PnOMWcld

I would recommend outside seating if the weather is nice, but honestly inside is just more of a unique experience, I love the old school decor. Whether it's much of a deal or not (which we typically always concern ourselves with) doesn't apply for Cedar Knoll. Not only has this place become tradition for us but a decade earlier my grandparents had their last birthdays here renting out a room for the whole family so it holds a lot of significance and rightfully so - it just has an authentic feel right there on the water with all of its own history. Anyways the food! The bread is good but the butter is great with this hint of sweetness. TBH the I wouldn't have missed the pueblito platter - I appreciate that they're trying to give a little sample of three Latino classic but they were so small and it didn't hold a candle to the lobster cappuccino which came with a discrete sweetness from the truffled corn and a compliment of olive oil. It was such a delicate dish that sent us through an adventure of flavors. The cod entree could've had more passion fruit but it was cooked so well either way. The steak was seasoned uniquely with a Smokey chili flavor and cooked just right. Both desserts were also very creative, the chocolate tart one being so rich just the way we like it.

That thoughtfulness is one of the many reasons I was excited to try it. When we arrived, I was initially concerned after learning that the "G" on the menu indicated dishes **containing** gluten rather than being gluten-free. Since many menu items were marked with a "G," I worried my options would be very limited, especially for the unlimited brunch experience. Thankfully, our server, Emma, immediately put me at ease. She brought me the food allergy menu, answered my questions with patience, and made sure I understood what was safe for me to enjoy. While my husband and I were deciding whether to stay, the manager, Antonio, came to our table after Emma shared my dietary concerns. His kindness completely changed the experience. He took the time to explain my options, offered to have the kitchen modify several dishes, and reassured me that their goal was for me to feel safe and enjoy my meal. Thanks to Emma and Antonio, what started with uncertainty became one of the most enjoyable brunch experiences I've had. I was able to enjoy a variety of delicious dishes, the mimosas were a great value, and the restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful, with floor-to-ceiling windows that fill the space with natural light. What I'll remember most, though, is how genuinely cared for I felt. Before we left, Antonio stopped by one last time to make sure I was happy with my meal and that all of my needs had been met. My husband had put so much love and intention into choosing this restaurant, and thanks to Emma and Antonio, we both left with happy hearts and full bellies. If you have food intolerances or dietary restrictions, I hope this review gives you confidence to visit Ambar. Their team didn't just accommodate my needs. They made me feel welcome, respected, and cared for. That's the kind of hospitality that earns five stars from me.
