We ate breakfast today, May 25th, 2026 for Memorial Day. We came with hubby's little brother and his brother's wife. The breakfast was good, but I was disappointed that all the gluten pancakes and French Toast are gone. As someone with Celiac disease, I loved IHop because of its gluten free pancakes and French Toast. We would come often because they offered that. Sadly those days are gone: Even offering sourdough bread would be a big help, as the sourdough bread breaks down the gluten. We no longer have IHop as our favorite breakfast restaurant now because of no gluten free toast, pancakes, or French Toast options. Trying to get some coffee on a Sunday and decided to come here since we like the iHop coffee. It was open even though Yelp says it's closed! Very impressed. Positioned in Plaza del Sol on Veterans Blvd, it's easily spotted. With their own parking lot right in front of the store, parking is a breeze. We came in and just ordered 2 cups of coffee to go, and had 3 waiters/waitresses come serve us, making us feel very important. They were extremely friendly and attentive. To add to the great experience, the restaurant was very clean, which is commendable considering they already had the morning/brunch rush of customers. To add onto the experience, the 2 coffees were less than $5! And of course it tasted very well brewed, not watered down, just like good coffee is expected to taste. They also provided sugar and half-&-half creamers at the register, which was very nice. Dallas, in particular we would like to compliment on, since he was not only friendly but also receptive to our requests for ice, sugar and cream. Also, "kids eat free" sign was there! We traveled overnight from Dallas to Del Rio and pulled into IHOP on thanksgiving morning. Service was attentive, food came out quickly and was prepared well. Dining area was clean and had a steady stream of people. My husband had the thick n fluffy French toast combo, I had the pancake combo (tres leches). Both really hit the spot! I would have liked more of the tres leches topping on the inside of the pancakes as well as the top layer, but they make a good pancake. 4 stars because most of the building has been renovated, but the bathrooms still need a facelift. read more

After 11:00 am Mass we decided to have a nice breakfast at iHop. We ordered very simple Over 55 breakfast meals and some coffee. The restaurant wasn't very crowded so we were happy because we were pretty hungry. After enjoying stories with my 86 and 85 year old mother-in-law and Aunt, about an hour came and went and no food. We asked around and were told that the manager had left to go drop off an employee or something. We were told our food was coming. The manager came back and actually was in the kitchen cooking because the kitchen was so backed up. Our food finally arrived after a solid hour. We asked for the manager and she finally came by our table after we finished eating. She apologized for the long wait and offered no excuses but did apologize many times. We told her that we understand how things can happen but would have just liked our waitress or anyone to have communicated to us what was going on. Again, she apologized and only charged us for our 3 coffees. We appreciated her efforts of making it right. While we were there, we saw so many employees just standing around and not working with any kind of speed in their step. The whole ordeal was frustrating. This entire experience took 2 solid hours. My husband and i came last Friday at around 11:00 a.m. He ordered breakfast; i had the grilled chicken and veggies salad. When the server brought my salad out, she said they didn't have the balsamic vinaigrette that was listed on the menu. She should have told me at the beginning that they didn't have that dressing. I might have ordered breakfast. On top of that she said all they had was ranch dressing. Nope, i do not eat ranch dressing. So i asked if they had vinegar and oil. She brought out Italian dressing. I wish I could give this IHOP zero stars. The first time I came here (back in 2017) the utensils were dirty and there was water dripping from the ceiling vent. Well, unfortunately I succumbed to coming to IHOP as I'm home in my small town in Texas, and although we do have good, small, family-owned restaurants here, we're definitely not immune to the chain-restaurant epidemic that has taken over America. And it still baffles me how these places are packed with people. I think it's due to the amount of food you get at a low price and it satisfies everyone's (including myself) vice for high sugar, high fat, high sodium food items that the food companies have spent decades researching and adding additives and chemicals that they know we humans can't get enough of, in order to sell more product. So with that being said, there was a 2-hour wait, yes, 2-hours!!, on a Sunday morning, but as my mom apparently has connections there, they sat us down in about 5-minutes...seriously...funny how she has pull at a local hot spot, haha. But still, a 2-hour wait for everyone else sucks, and I can see why everyone would get frustrated. Then, it took about 15-20min for our waitress to arrive and then another 45min to get our food. So, it's a 3 to 4hr process to eat here. And the coffee was just ok, omelette was ok, pancakes were pretty good though actually, but they should be, I mean that's supposed to be their specialty. Price was only $25 for 3 people, for a TON of food, so you can see why people like it here. Overall, the food was about 2.5-stars, but the service was so slow, that I had to take them down to 2-stars. I've been to IHOPs in other locations that are slightly better, but not much. I'd pass on here if you're in Del Rio, and if you need pancakes, go to Skillet's which I feel is better than this place. read more

Stick with tried-and-true when dining with teenagers, or picky eaters. I have to downgrade my recent visit to IHOP because customer service was non-existent after orders were placed, and only to deliver the check. Red velvet pancakes were tasty without being overly sweet, and needing large amounts of syrup. Eggs and hash browns were cooked well, and my fellow diners breakfast meats (bacon, sausage, and ham) were all cooked well. Our group of 4 was seated quickly in a pretty empty IHOP on a late Monday morning, with two (?) servers working the floor, and food runners shuttling orders to tables, but no one even stopped by occasionally at any table to inquire about the orders, or whether diners were in need of anything. Great service but utterly horrible food! Look how burned my bacon was! The pancakes had been microwaved so they were all rubbery and yet still served cold! Even the scrambled eggs were bad. How do you mess up scrambled eggs? How does IHOP of all people mess up pancakes? The cook has no idea how to cook. The server asked the manager to come to the table but he did even not want too. Wonderful experience!! After seeing all the poor reviews , but really wanting some ihop pancakes, we decided to take a chance and eat breakfast. We were there about 7 am on a Tuesday morning. The restaurant was very clean and the hostess on duty immediately greeted us upon entering. She asked our preference on a booth or table. Before we had even sat down was asking if we would like to start with coffee. The coffee came right away with a pot in the table where we could refill ourselves. The order was taken quickly and brought to the table within ten minutes. The food was delicious and well cooked. The staff was very friendly and checked on us to make sure we were doing okay. We have had bad service here multiple times in the past and hadn't been for a very, very long time for this reason. Decided to give it another try today because the parking lot was surprisingly pretty empty, and once again, bad. Walked in to the waiting area full and was told it would be 20 minutes for a seat even though there were more empty tables than were seated tables. When I asked way the long wait with so many empty tables, the hostess just shrugged her shoulders and offered no explanation. We turned around and walked out and definitely won't give it another chance. I really don't know how they stay in business other than there aren't many other choices in this town. The topnotch Mayra came to our table with a smile, but the smile never disappeared. (it's always a plus to have a pleasant waitress. I want to know who trained this girl. She was terrific!) But so was our food! I ordered the turkey and bacon club on marbled rye (the whiff of that was very ryish!) It was huge and loaded with turkey. I'm giving two stars instead of one or zero due to the fact that I had two average quality experiences at this here previously earlier this year. IHOP is usually pretty consistent from one location to the next or from one day to the next. Tonight was apparently the exception in a very bad way. When we arrived at 7 PM There were no other customers. We ordered drinks so we could talk until other members of our party arrived. By 7:40 all of our people were there, nine in total. By that time there were only two other tables with customers. We placed our orders expecting to have our meals rather quickly since there were so few customers. ...An hour later, (yes, you read correctly) our waiter informed us that our meals were finally all ready except for one (crepes). He said that they were "out of crepes", and asked the one who had ordered them to request a different item from the menu. Apparently they ran out of crepe batter and the one trainee cook did not know how to improvise to make crêpe batter from pancake batter! We wondered why we were just then being informed they could not make crêpes! He then asked if they should hold all the other plates until the new order was ready! Of course, we told him no, to bring for other meals at once while they were fresh. To the server's credit he did bring us more coffee and tea when we requested it. Within the next 15 minutes the trainee cook apparently figured out how to make crêpes because the original order was eventually fulfilled. In all we waited well over an hour for our food from the time we ordered it. That is unacceptable. I ordered the chicken fried steak dinner. When I received it it looked like it had set for a while. The chicken fried steak was dry as were the mashed potatoes. The broccoli was hot but not cooked, very crunchy. The toast was good. On the positive side I did enjoy the freshly brewed ice tea and my dad enjoyed the coffee. The atmosphere was nice although the music was rather loud to be able to carry on a conversation. I would have expected a manager to come over and apologize for the exceptionally long wait. Most places would offer a discount. Even pizza delivery places give you the pizza for you if not delivered within so many minutes. No one from management came over to say anything to us. My two previous experiences at this location were reasonable. However tonight's experience lets me know there are serious problems if the management. That being the case I would not return until I knew there was different management. Until then I cannot recommend this location. read more

One thing you need to know before entering this establishment is that you most definitely will need a fly-swatter and a can of RAID...each table in the restaurant comes complete with at least 3 flys...and that's when the place is busy and fly disbursement is maximized throughout the dining area. Once you are seated you may be overwhelmed with the smell of weeks old mop bucket water as I'm certain this is what they use to wash off the tables before seating new customers. After 7-10 minutes of watching employees slowly pace the restaurant looking confused and lost at times you may finally be greeted by one of these top tier servers. Some are friendly and some obviously woke up that morning and realized they hate life and the fact that they work at ihop and seem to hate anyone else that was fortunate enough to sit in their section that day. If you like Iced Tea please be my guest and roll the dice on that selection of beverage. More often than not it will taste like they used week old bong water when they prepared it 2 days prior. Don't bother specifying how you want your eggs cooked bc they don't know the difference anyway...and if you like Hash Browns, you are out of luck bc their version of this typically delightful breakfast sidekick is something that can only be best described as shredded cardboard that had been soaked in the urinal...The Toast is merely a slice of bread they ran a hair dryer over for 30 seconds...After you have managed to shovel what they call food into your gut plan on waiting a while for your ticket...if you are smart, ask for it when you order the food...once you've paid the bill please make it a PRIORITY that you immediately stop at CVS and purchase a gallon of Pepto Bismol, as you will be chugging it like a frat boy on a beer bong the rest of the day.
