I understand that sometimes things happen and servers get busy but the floor & table that they sat us was dirty, filthy & unsanitary. There was food everywhere & they served me on a dirty plate. I have eaten many, many pancakes. So I consider myself a bit of a pancake connoisseur. My son and I went in to the International House of Pancakes for supper on a Wednesday evening around 6:00 p.m. From being seated next to the kitchen, where the staff was wrapping silverware and talking. I ordered coffee with cream and sugar, a short stack of buttermilk pancakes. and two sausage links. The service was s-l-o-w, and she was acting rushed, though there was hardly anyone there?! My coffee arrived, it truly was luke warm and yet, had a burned taste...like it had been sitting a while. When my dinner arrived every thing went downhill! My pancakes were so cold the butter never did melt! My sausage links were cool and did not look done enough. Breakfast food is considered to be comfort food and about the one meal most folks can cook pretty easy / sadly no one had shared this with the chef. We visited the SE 14th Street IHOP around 1pm today. They weren't overly busy, but had lots of employees on the floor. While food was tasty, my husband was asked if he wanted syrup for his pancakes. We thought that a bit odd. Issues that concerned us (1) We had to flag down our server to let him know we were ready to order. (2) A gal swept and mopped the dining floors while people were eating. While there was a "Wet Floor" caution sign on the floor, it wasn't in a place where most people would see it. We observed 7-8 employees standing around the food window talking and laughing loudly. Arriving at IHOP on a Tuesday morning around 8:00 AM is a perfect time to walk right in and sit right down! We had immediate seating and service. If you stop in I hope you have Christian as your server. He was up beat, friendly, prompt--exactly what I look forward in wait staff. The menu now is a simple 2-sided laminated card. The multi-page menu is not used. Our order came surprisingly quickly, but this is a breakfast place, right?! Pancakes, eggs, bacon or sausage hit the spot. Coupled with a big pot of coffee and we were set. One change I noticed following the Covid pandemic was that a selection of syrups is no longer provided. Rather, a cup of syrup was served for each order of pancakes. We found exactly what we expected. A good breakfast. Little did I know that ordering breakfast from this place was going to completely ruin my Saturday in town. I ordered an omelette with a side of pancakes and got the worst freaking diarrhea of my life. I had about a dozen bowel movements in the span of 10 hours and After the 5th time i gave up any thought of going outside as I was too afraid to leave my hotel room and not be within immediate proximity of a toilet. Sadly the cooks don't know how to prepare lightly done pancakes. The waitress doesn't check her food and serves them not as ordered. They did offer to remake them but really if they couldn't do it the first time my confidence level is not real high about that, and I like to eat with the rest of the table. There was an offer to comp them but since I ate the only light one and a couple others I didn't feel that was right. Had to ask for a drink refill. The manager is kind. The restaurant is clean. The food was good, fresh pancakes and French toast. But the server was rather clueless. She took the order of the table when I was still undecided. Rather than wait another 30 seconds for my order, she waited until the rest of the table's food was done and served them before she took my order. I then had to sit for 10 minutes while everyone ate before I received my food. The server didn't see anything wrong with that, and I was quite irritated. I was seated and waited around 10 minutes for my server. the food was good although when served the server stated they were remaking the pancakes because they were made incorrectly and the chefs just flipped the "new" pancakes over and served them. after asking for them to be remade the chefs visibly pointed into the dinning area and the server came back and said they were incorrect again. it is understandably not the servers fault but it wouldn't be a problem if the chefs put all effort into their job and instead trying to cut corners to paying customers. read more

I cannot believe the absolutely horrid service I received here!!! The staff constantly messed up my order (honestly they brought the wrong plate three times!!! We were floored by how good this place was. Really tasty hot dogs (Onion Crunch is amazing) and fruit juices (Coconut Champagne - couldn't get enough), great service, and the prices can't be beat.
