Total Nightmare Experience - Zero Stars Earned Our girls soccer team scheduled a brunch there after 8AM game at South County High School. We had reserved tables & were immediately seated in their back dining room. We had two servers assigned to us since we had both kids and parents in our large group. It's at that point where everything went south. As we were being seated another soccer team was just arriving in the waiting in the reception area until tables could be pulled together for their large group. They ended up being seated in the back room across from us, about 10 minutes after we arrived. We waited 15 to 20 minutes the staff to get us menus and take our drink orders. 15 to 20 minutes later, they came by again and took our food orders. After the food orders were taken it was 45 to 50 minutes before the food arrived. By this time, the other team had already ordered, received & eaten their food, and were in the process of paying their bills, ......all before we had received a single entrée. Our servers were completely confused as to how to handle a large party. Obviously the servers on the other end of the room, with the other similar sized soccer team, weren't nearly as clueless. As our food finally arrived, the other team was getting up and leaving the restaurant. Our servers were completely befuddled on how to distribute all the entrées, so parents had to get up and distribute the meals to all the tables for the servers. Each family ordered their own food by player number to make it easy. Something we've done at close to a dozen other restaurants without any problem. It's too close to 30 minutes for the serving crew to sort out the check well we sat at empty tables and waited. Two hours after sitting down we were finally walking out of the restaurant. A handful of parents had already taken all of the children ahead to the next soccer game because we were running so far behind schedule. By the time we left, we had approached the manager 4-5 times in an effort to get things expedited. He was obviously in way over his head, and completely unable to help us in anyway. Given our dining experience was a complete disaster, you might think the restaurant would make some effort to compensate us, either by adjusting our bill in some way (e.g., waving the cost of the beverages), or maybe giving us some free meal certificates. But we're talking IHOP here, not a normal customer service focused dining establishment. Based on all the poor reviews for this place, it's no surprise we were given nothing but a continual stream of "I'm sorry's". 2 hours after being seated we left the place. 10-15 minutes of that time was spent eating (wolfing down our late food), and the other hour 45 we were watching a bunch of incompetent IHOP staff run around in circles. read more

The food was good, scrambled eggs were a little over cooked, but the French toast was yummy. My biggest complaint would be the wait and the customer service. I came in at 10:10 am on a Friday morning and had to wait 25 minutes to be seated, then a wait for my drink, and another 20 minutes for my food to be served. My server only made 3 stops at my table to whole 90 minutes I was here. It was clear he was busy, but based on other reviews, this seems to be the norm, so it seems like it's time to hire more servers!! read more

I should've known better, but I stayed and waited for a table after seeing an elderly couple just walk in and seat themselves and not one hostess said a word. After being told it was a five minute wait and sitting there for about 15, my family of five was finally seated. I had enough time to figure out my meal and my three young children's (10 minutes) and we still sat and waited for a server to greet us. About fifteen minutes in, someone finally walks up but only to tell us that someone would be with us in a bit and proceed to take care of a group that was seated after us!!!!! This was the point that I tossed down my menu and asked my kids and husband to get up because we were done. As I walked by the checkout, I told them I had nothing to pay for because we didn't get a thing. The general manager, Charlie, did follow us out and asked is what happened. After explaining it all, he invited us back in and offered to pay for our entire meal. Kudos to him for doing that. It was very kind. We did not, however, take him up on this as we'd already wasted 30 minutes of our time. I can't comment on the food, since I didn't get a chance to place an order. I can comment on the service, and it was the worst I have ever seen in my 36 years. read more

I went here for this first time in a while for my favorite steak tips breakfast and was served by Darwin. He is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME! He makes me want to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner here. This has been by far the worst of all the worst restaurants in the area. I've only been here three time and all out of those three were severely unpleasant. First was during the week after they opened. My boyfriend was very excited about the opening of this franchise, so we decided to go. There was only one hostess and was not fully trained. The place was full of excited customers and all left with dissatisfaction in their faces. When we were finally ready to pay for our ticket, the hostess made us wait 10 minutes. She took people before us. I was really upset but my boyfriend told me that they're new and that maybe they will improve, so I let it go. The second time was when we were eating there. I found a curly short hair in my boyfriend soup and I almost gagged. It was beyond disgusting, so I immediately had to tell the server. I got her attention, apologized once and asked if we wanted another plate instead. It seemed like it wasn't a big deal at all and she didn't escalate the issue to the manager. The third and the last one (NEVER COMING BACK HERE AGAIN, EVEN IF THIS WAS THE LAST PLACE ON EARTH TO GET NUTRITION) happened today. We called in for pick up around 11pm and we were told that the food will be ready for pick up after 15 minutes. Knowing that they will be taking a while we left the house 20 minutes after calling.. We get to iHop and our food was not ready. Shocker. We were waiting for so long one of the waitresses asked if we've been helped. She came scrambling to the kitchen and came back saying that they lost our order in the system because we called the Alexandria branch. Evidently, this was not true, we checked our phones and we dialed in the right branch. She proceeded to retake our orders and halfway in our order, the manager comes out with our food. This was 30 minutes later. We waited for our order to be done for 50 mins, 20 at home and 50 at the restaurant. I spoke to the manager and asked if there's anyway we can compensate the time of wait. He said no and did not even apologize. I asked how he would explain the long wait time because it seemed that they lost our ticket and he said that he didn't and that it was their systems fault. He gave us 10% discount. He seemed like he didn't care at all. The manger's name is Chris. He is very unprofessional and rude. I am never going back to this place again. They are absolutely terrible. My friends and I were just trying to have some fun playing "Cards Against Humanity" and were barely making any noise. The manager comes over and tells us to put the cards away because it's against their policy - I was just here the other night playing the same game with my friends and no one said anything to us. First of all if you're going to have a policy like that, you need to be enforcing it 24/7 - so the restaurant is inconsistent with policy. Came in they only had one server on staff which was fine I know how that is being as tho I work in the industry. Order drinks and food. Received our drinks and waited for our food . Some gentleman came out with a bowl of grits still not with the rest of the order. My fiancé asked for a refill in coffee didn't receive her refill for over 30 minutes. By the time the food came the orders were wrong and at that point we were just over it . We asked to speak to the manager and didn't even know the manager was the person bringing the food . He was sloppy dressed and rude when we tried to explain the situation and his response was oh well sorry we couldn't serve you tonight and walked off. Never tried to fix the problem or anything . Simply asked how long the wait would be after waiting ten minutes with a restaurant with multiple empty tables.. the lady up front (im assuming manager) informed me very rudely that she didnt have to tell me how long my wait was and she only has three servers and even if seated we wouldn't be served. This IHOP has always been slow, but yesterday 7/3 was just plain horrible and uncalled for. I arrived at 6:45 because I had to be somewhere an hour later. I was hoping, really hoping that they could be quick just once. I was seated and sat there wondering if someone would wait on me. A black guy was walking around in the kitchen area and saw me 4 times but ignored me. After 7 minutes of waiting, I walked back in the kitchen area where everyone was and was told that they had only one server working, but then I found out why they were really, really slow this time. They had 8 or 9 bags filled with food on its way out. They would rather feed the outside rather the -expel waiting inside. I noticed 5 tables waiting with no food with one table telling me that they had been there for 20 minutes without anyone taking their orders. If you can't serve customers in a respectable and timely manner, close the place until you can. I will never stress myself out over this poor, little despicable place. read more

Your standard IHOP. I waited 5 minutes to be seated in an empty restaurant. I seated myself, took a menu and then someone showed up to take my order. It was somehow made a to-go order though which was eventually corrected. I decided to use the restroom and instantly regretted it. The men's room smelled of ammonia so strongly that I gagged. I couldn't use it. Luckily the there was no one in the establishment other than myself and friend so I helped myself to the women's room. It was dirty too but manageable. The food came within a reasonable amount of time but the order was wrong and my pancakes were nowhere to be found. They came 5 minutes after the rest of my food. When our drinks ran out, we waited patiently for a while but grew tired of waiting. I decided to call the restaurant to see if someone would come refill our drinks but that didn't work either as nobody answered the phone. My friend finally walked into the kitchen to get a refill. This place Just is not friendly towards singles! I get that they want groups and families but tonight's experience was unacceptable. I have been going almost every Wednesday night with a friend but she has moved so I am doing the solo thing. Tonight, the hostess asked me how many and when I told her 1 she asked me to wait and proceeds to ring up customers. While I was waiting, other guests with 2 or more people were getting seated by other staff. Finally, she is ready to seat me and wants me at a tiny table that would have been perfect for a couple kids. I asked for a booth or bigger table and she said sorry, there were no more. My family was in there a few nights ago. The place wasn't that busy but we waited awhile to get seated. After we were seated, a gentleman took our drink order for the waitress. Waited another 10 minutes for her to come take our order and right off the bat she was very unpleasant. While waiting, we noticed another family come in and get seated. The waitress apparently messed up the drinks and the family wasn't mad but asked for the right ones, the waitress stomped away annoyed. When their drunks were returned they found something in one of their drinks and ended up walking out. After almost an hour of waiting for our food, everything including our appetizer was brought out at once. Husband was missing rice in his breakfast bowl, I had hashbrowns that were missing, and the appetizer was obviously sitting for awhile and we couldn't even eat it because it was hard (onion rings, mozzarella sticks, chicken tenders). Stopped in for lunch today. Three people were at the register and not any of them greeted us. Waited awhile, two of them left, one man, Mr. Foley, finally waved his hand in the air and said, "I'll have to clean a table." He cleared one, grabbed two menus, which we assumed were for us, and we followed him to the table. Had he asked, we would have been able to tell him a third person was joining us. Service was absolute crap. Started off waiting for someone to show their face to seat us, ended up being our waiter. Got drunk without a hitch and orders were put in a timely manner. We waited about 20minutes, with no update on food and we asked if we were ok, but he walked away quickly, no drinks were refilled. Keep in mind, this place is practically dead of customers at 7pm. We waited another 15 minutes and received our food. We were told there was only one cook, there had been a problem, but it was dealt with. The whole time we can hear some woman yelling at people in the kitchen (we were seated right across the entrance to the kitchen with a clear view of the kitchen). The whole meal our server never cAme back and didn't get our ketchup request. We got up to get it. We had to request someone get him so we could get our check. He came out with the check in hand, as I presented our military IDs and asked for a discount. He picked it up (with the check still in his hand), I asked if they gave military discounts again as he layed it back on the table. He said yes and would 'take it off when he went back with the card'. He sort of touched the military ID slightly, but said he was looking for the card we were going to pay with. I told him "How this normally happens, is you go redo the check with the discount and bring it back to us for us to give you our payment, and we were paying cash. He looked pissed as he turned to redo our check. He slovenly put the new check on the table as he kept walking with waters for another table. We got up to pay and got stuck behind three French Canadians coking and joking with him as they separated their checks. They took forever. We finally get to pay with cash and he doesn't have change. He leaves us to go get some. He comes back and still doesn't have the right amount change. We decided to just leave and leave him the maybe $1.50. He never asked us how our meal was, acknowledged us as we paid, or apologies for anything that had happened. Completely unsatisfactory! read more

My brother and I have come to this IHOP on several Wednesday evenings (Senior Discount) for the past couple months. The food (breakfast or dinner) quality has been a nice surprise and THE PRICE IS RIGHT. On March 4th both the food and the service were good. In addition, we were pleasantly surprised to see the colorful Easter decorations. They were a positive reminder that Spring was coming soon. We really needed some hopeful signs with all the winter weather we had been experiencing recently, especially with another winter storm coming within the next 24 hours. However, as some others have mentioned, the service we received really depends on which of the servers has your table. 80% of the servers do a good to a very good job and 20% are busy doing something other than taking care of the customers.
