This IHOP is severely understaffed, and the lobby is filthy. Additionally, the 3-person staff that was on duty were inattentive. There was no greeter assigned to the hospitality station and when I called out to the kitchen for help, I was advised to have a seat and wait. When I did that, it still took 10 minutes for someone to assist me. I've already favorably reviewed this location a few years ago.I have an update. I work 3rd shift and sometimes I place orders for team meals in the morning from this location. This morning my company ordered several Family meals for a large team meeting. It was a last minute deal and it was A LOT of food. Probably much more than we were expecting. For this I would like to apologize to the manager and staff at this location and thank them for gamely doing their best to fill it. They probably should have told us to pound sand. It backed up all the other business and customers that were waiting for their food and I apologize to them too. The employees at my company enjoyed it very much. IHOP is what you'd expect - and maybe a bit more based on their menu. This location has been a staple in Louisville for several years and close to I-64 for those traveling by. The menu offers sweet and savory items, and small or big portions. My husband and I ordered breakfast for dinner. Mine included eggs, bacon, hash browns and pancakes. Plenty to enjoy and fairly good. However, for a spot that builds its brand on pancakes they are only average. Plenty of seating here and we received good service from the host / server. She took care of everyone coming and going at the restaurant. Because she didn't have a lot of backup the tables and floors were fairly messy. We sat for 20 minutes waiting for drinks. They were not busy. I ask another waitress to bring our drinks. She came back and said our waiter would not allow that. So I ask to speak with the manager. IHOP the artist/eatery formerly known as the International house of pancakes is a large franchises pancake specialty eating establishment. This particular location is located in the Jeffersontown neighborhood of Louisville Kentucky on hurstbourne lane right at the foot of the expressway entrance. IHOP being a massive name and Lousiville a large metropolitan city you would think we had several locations to choose from. We actually don't. This was the first one here and remains the only one. The location itself is in a very heavily populated business area of the city so it's in a nice spot. It is always super crowded no matter when you come here. I've never been able to walk in and sit down. A lot of that is traffic and some of it is this location is always really slow, understaffed or a mixture of both. The food for me is just ok. They have some creative and unique pancake dishes that are very aesthetically pleasing to the eye. I've sampled a few over the years and some are very good (the chocolate chocolate chip comes to mind) and others don't quite do it for me. They do have other options besides pancakes. And I've sampled it. They actually in This guys opinion have a better French toast then pancake. But that isn't what made them a National franchise so maybe I'm just different. As mentioned the service here is slow and usually below par. The workers are hit and miss of friendliness. They are always stressed out and chasing form behind so I imagine that attributes to that. A lot do the time your food will come out cold. My wife and kids love IHOP and we would come more often if they could have better service. Instead we stick to maybe 2-3 visits a year and leave full but somewhat disappointed. Overall, it was cool when Lousiville finally got this location over a decade ago. I'm shocked they haven't opened another up as it seems to be very popular. Maybe the low service ratings keeps that from happening. Which is Shame because IHOP is nationally known and Louisville has the size and residents to be a good spot for franchises to pop up. read more

We were seated, and waited approximately 15 minutes without an employee coming to the table. I walked the business and found a waitress myself. Asked if we could order. So, after 40-50 minutes of NOTHING, we get up and leave. I drive 30 feet away to the nearest gas station, and begin to pump gas. Some clown-nerd (presumably the manager) runs from the business right up to my vehicle as I'm pumping gas. He then proceeds to accuse me of "stealing" from the business. Stealing what???? I NEVER EVEN RECEIVED A GLASS OF WATER AFTER 40-50 MINUTES!! He continued to accuse me of theft, so I told him to call the police. He wouldn't. So I contacted the police myself, and explained the situation. As suspected, I was in the right, and the manager was in the wrong. Word of advice-- Don't run up on grown men in a confrontational manner when children are present, regarding a made-up scenario of not paying a bill, when services were never rendered. This is a great value place. They have a $5 and $3 menu promotion 2pm to 10pm. Their main menu items are $8 to $13 and really good as well. Of course known for pancakes, but there is much more. Now the place has dividers and follows covid guidelines. Service is friendly, quick and professional. The place is clean and with diner vibes. Plenty of parking and good location. Placed an online order, went to pickup when the time was given (23mins) & 45 mins later STILL NO FOOD. The "manager" Jamar I believe is his name.. refused to give me a refund because he did not know how - which is an essential part of actual managerial position. As told to me by staff on duty at the time, no one knows what they are doing at this location. Walk ins were told food would take an hour and a half at the least. I did not receive the food I paid for, for myself or my children. The "manager" was rude as was everyone else wearing an ihop tshirt Upon leaving staff told me to be glad I did not receive my food as this location was extremely dirty in the back, where food is prepared. It's been about ten years since I visited ihop so I guess I was due for a visit. I'm not a big fan of pancakes so l opted for a sandwich. I ordered the BLT, which comes with fries, and some coffee. My dining companion, who's always trying to eat healthy, got an egg white omelette with avocado and a side of fruit. Our server, Cheyenne, was great. She was juggling four tables but gave us plenty of attention. I wanted a Belgian waffle for dessert and she saw to it that it came out just after I'd finished my sandwich. The waffle is not pictured because we attacked it like wolves on a baby buffalo. Overall it's what you'd expect from a big chain restaurant.
