    Fried chicken dinner
    Linda P.

Service was excellent! Food was fabulous with large portions that came out HOT. Fun adult beverages. Wish I'd had room to order dessert, but the smallest order of fried chicken was 3 pieces. My friend thought the drink we ordered was too limey but I was OK with it. First adult beverage I couldn't finish because of the size. Can't wait to go back again next time I'm going through Louisville.

Been wanting to eat here ever since I heard Kaelin's was the birthplace of the cheeseburger in the 30's. Also bc Colonel Sanders hand breaded his chicken and started KFC in the building. Or so I was told...... It was pleasant inside-we sat in the bar which was cozy. We ordered the double cheeseburger and fries of course. The burger reminded me of those in my childhood- so good. The fries were crispy and delicious. We had great service. Would def come back when in Louisville!!

Update: I stopped by this place for the Louisville Burger Week because I saw their description of the Burger. I knew that I had to try it because I love the hint of spicy. This Burger was top notch and good combine with Sunset Berry Cocktail. You cannot miss out this best Burger in this place.

Took another client here today and like always, amazing! My client said on the way out the door that he had never been there before but was bringing the family. Great food and amazing service!!

Nice sit down restaurant, good service and plenty of people during the week. Saw the hype on the 80/20 burger and it was disappointing when I had it. I had the original 80/20 burger and the patty itself was not very tasty and the cheese did not go well with it. The pretzel but made it super chewy and didn't pair well with the patty. The fries were crunchy but not the best I've tried. Just my opinion but will not go again.

Took my two girls here the other night for dinner. It was a little pricey for burgers, but man it was probably one of the best burgers I have had in a while. My girls loved their burgers too. I also got the brussel sprouts, they were good, but a little greasy. They were very oniony also, but that made my 11 year old daughter love them! She LOVES onion. We also learned about a new fun sport called Sail GP. My 11 year old daughter and I were very invested in watching it. The service was good and the Ambiance was too. I also really liked that on the bill was a QR code to scan to pay. It made paying quick and easy.

Hello again. Brought my husband and 2 boys in for lunch today. Tried the pretzel baguette with beer cheese for the first time. We really liked it! Softer than a normal pretzel and less dense. I got the 80/20 burger with no onions. The bun was a little thick for my liking but I removed the top one. The fries and tater tots were excellent. Hot, crispy, and salty. My husband tried the bbq pulled pork sandwich and he thought it was good but said he wouldn't order it again. Our service was fine but the guy working the door couldn't stop coughing and they had him delivering food! After watching him cough into his hands and arms for an hour I was less than pleased with that. That guy should have been sent home. It's a restaurant after all.

Kaelin's is a no frills, staple spot for families looking for classics like burgers, sandwiches, and ice cream. They have a good bar menu and a range of classic burgers plus a rotating mix of special, funky burgers. I tried the elote today, which had a zesty corn, queso fresco, and a spicy ranch sauce. It had some zip, and was tasty but they've really reduced portion sizes in recent years. Generally, the rest of the burgers we ordered were fine, but not particularly special and a bit overcooked. The onion ring side was great - perfectly cooked and actually had onion in them. Our server was really kind and accommodating, with steady refills and patience with our family. There are multiple TVs on every wall, so it's sort of hard to have a quiet meal where everyone is tuned into the conversation.

My husband took his mom and dad here last night since they used to go here when they were kids and the last 2 times we went it was good. We were seated in the bar area which was nice because his parents were facing the school across the street where my father-in-law went to school and we talked about all their memories. Unfortunately, this time the food was not as good as our recent visits. My mother-in-law and husband ordered the fried chicken. The chicken was dry like it was reheated from lunchtime. The mashed potatoes were not very good and the gravy looked old and not appetizing. Meanwhile my father-in-law's classic cheese burger and fries were better and my cod sandwich was good. The cod sandwich came with a lot of fish. I ordered a side of coleslaw which was good. But the best thing we ordered and the star of the evening were the Brussel sprouts we ordered as an appetizer. It is a very large portion which we didn't think we would finished but they were so good, we absolutely finished them. I think we are going to give this restaurant a little break before we return.

Have you ever had a craving for a meal, then have to readjust your plans? On the night I tried Kaelin's I was originally intending to go somewhere else, but the other place was busy. I knew I wanted to try Kaelin's and decided to give it a go, and boy am I glad I did! Look no further for a juicy, well cooked burger with amazing French fries. The burger is thick and juicy all the way through. The meat tastes fresh and does not fill you up too hard. Eating this burger made me forget about the meal I was originally craving. The sauce and toppings are also delicious. The flavor combinations for their burgers seem limited by the menu, there should definitely be a BYOB option to show their selection of ingredients. The fries were hot all the way to the bottom of the tin. Beer battered fries tend to get boring after a while but these weren't overly crisp and felt easy to eat while paired with a thick burger. I will be back to get a milkshake for sure!

Brisket, potatoes and vegetables. (Veggies too dry and hard). Brisket is top notch. Love all the rest of Kaelin's offerings.

Great burgers and brisket. Yummy. My only complaint is dry, hard roasted/grilled veggies. I can't eat them. I wish they would cook them down more with a bit more olive oil and seasoning.

I've been wanting to try Kaelin's. My 6 year old niece will be with me tonight. I know it says kid friendly but does anyone know if they make a grilled cheese or have chicken tenders?

Yes to both. They also have an ice cream shop upstairs.

Live on Richmond. Can't wait. Menu yet and Soft Opening date?

Hours are posted on their website :) They are open, I don't believe there was a 'soft opening' to the public.

For one thing, living in the Louisville area we are blessed with great local produce for much of the year, and it's fun to load up the refrigerator with fresh things. But local tastes are also evident in the proliferation of burger and chicken joints, with no shortage of fried foods as well as bakeries and pastry shops specializing in butter, sugar, and fat. Even our vegetarian restaurants tilt in the direction of unhealthy pleasures. Green District bucks that trend in a good way. You really have to go out of your way here not to have a well-balanced meal. Most of their dishes are veggie-focused, but they also tend to have added proteins. And better still, if you're missing your carbs, you can make your dish a grain bowl -- and if you want it to go, the wrap is a good option. Portions are generous and at a reasonable price point. I know Green District is hardly unique in that it's a modern fast-casual salad chain, and in a lot of ways it's the all-American story: Fast casual chain opens with some success; concept is expanded and many locations are announced; at some point they file for bankruptcy; private equity gets involved; chain retracts. The restaurant world is a crazy business. Wall Street hiccups and we go on eating somehow. But Green District is at least still a local chain, and they do seem to serve up a good menu. I'll keep coming here as long as the food is good.

We had a choice between sitting inside or being seated at a picnic table on the covered deck. We were assigned a high-top table in the dining area past the bar, where a few guys were watching a soccer match. The brine-soaked fried chicken is Eagle's specialty, so we ordered it. I thought the chicken was good,. So per the menu for the three-piece fried chicken meal, you can only order either all white meat or all dark meat. Interestingly, the two people at our table that ordered white meat still got a drumstick with their meat. The last I checked, drumsticks were considered dark meat. For an appetizer, we ordered the hush puppies. They had a nice crunchy texture but were very spicy hot. We also ordered the spoonbread. This was my favorite dish of the day. It was served warm, had a great texture and a light maple flavor. With our meals, we could get two sides. We requested the collard greens, green beans, fries, grits and mac & cheese. Only the mac & cheese was good. The collard greens were way salty and the green beans had odd and unexpected seasonings. Our dining companion was put out, and understandably so, that the menu said the grits came with white cheddar cheese. But instead, though the grits maybe had cheese, they were also loaded with loads of diced jalapeno. They were so over the top spicy, none of us could eat the grits. The fries were strongly seasoned with oregano. WTF? Our entrees came with biscuits. The biscuits were tasty, but unfortunately, because they contained too much shortening, fell apart when buttering them. And that leads up to the service lapse. After we received our check, our server completely disappeared. We waited a half hour for her to re-appear, gave up and asked another server to cash us out. He disappeared and we waited some more. Finally the red-headed server re-appeared and breezily explained she had been out on the deck the whole time. No apology or anything.

It is on the louder side, so if you're looking for a quiet, intimate breakfast, this probably isn't that kind of place. But for a busy breakfast spot, the energy works. The prices are moderate and felt very reasonable for the atmosphere, portions, and overall experience. I ordered the biscuit and gravy with a side of bacon, and let me just say... these were NOT your average biscuits! I got two huge, fluffy biscuits with little cubes of sausage tucked in between them and everything was covered in pepper gravy. The biscuits were soft and delicious, the sausage added just the right amount of flavor, and the pepper gravy pulled it all together. So good! My husband decided to go big and ordered the breakfast plate with all the fixings PLUS a waffle. Naturally, I had to sample the waffle, and I'm pretty sure I made my decision for my next visit right then and there. That waffle was delicious! It had a subtle vanilla flavor that paired incredibly well with the maple syrup. That vanilla + maple combination was honestly my favorite bite of the meal. The portions are generous, the food is flavorful, and there's enough variety on the menu that everyone should be able to find something they'll enjoy. The inside is smaller, more intimate, with limited seating however there are about four patio tables outside as well. Based on other reviews that I have read, you can take your food next-door to Frankfort liquors and eat there while enjoying a drink or you can also order from there as they have QR codes on the bar. The burger patties were much bigger than I expected, literally hanging off the bun but were the perfect amount of smash. Some smash burgers in my experience have had their edges too crispy. I know a lot of people like this, but I prefer my smash burger with substantial edges. The food was SO GOOD! 10/10 recommend. Literally the perfect burger meal.
