I'm telling you the cooks on deck that night were perfect in the delivery. Some places can't make a nice fluffy omelette. Well these folks can do it. Others overcook the hash browns. Not here, done just right. And pancakes, so simple right? But easy to mess up. Perfect were the ones I had. The kitchen got the modification exactly right. Now, I know it's been a minute since I've been to an IHOP, but why was there a police officer standing guard at the front? Are people getting rowdy over the short stacks? I'm just saying. Anyway, the waiter was at our table ready to take our order, perfect because I was HUNGRY! He was so nice and it was a pleasure to be sitting in his section. Today was sad at IHOP Silver Spring. Our waiter had issues. While not particularly rude, we felt a certain uneasiness. We waited long enough to know something was wrong. When the food arrived, it was cold, stale, hard and inedible. The chicken fried steak was older than the waiter and would not cut with a knife. The green beans were microwaved, raw and nasty. The mashed potatoes were runny and the gravy tasted like the can and cold. Today was a day at the circus at IHOP. We were going to complain but the staff all disappeared. After a long day of shopping we were at that point where we needed something to eat. After some disagreements on where we wanted to eat we decided to come here. We were nearby and this was the closest place to go. We should have known when we entered that we were not going to have that great of an experience. Upon entry we waited a good five minutes before an employee came up and greeted us. We were finally taken to a table and given menus. However, the table we were sat at wasn't the cleanest and our server was busy elsewhere which meant we had another wait before us. When our server finally came over we were able to place our drink orders. Then we had another wait before she returned with our drink orders and to take our order for our food. Finally, we placed our food order and then we waited. When we were seated we were sat at a table in the midst of the restaurant. Even though it wasn't packed and we were here basically after the dinner rush, it just seemed like no one cared how things were going. We watched the employees bop in and out of the area without checking to see if we needed refills or anything. This was especially harsh seeing how long it took us to get our drinks in the first place. Before we could get a refill our food did show up. Since we were at a place known for breakfast food, I went the breakfast route. I love a good biscuit and gravy, so I went with that. I know, it's a breakfast place known for pancakes, but I wasn't in the mood for that. From the first bite, I knew that this was not going to be the best meal I had ever had. The biscuit was hard. Thinking that it was paired with the gravy would make it not so much. But the sausage gravy was a bit greasy and there was definitely not enough gravy to biscuit ratio going on. The hashbrowns were ok, sausage links were expected and adding the cheese to the scrambled eggs definitely gave it some flavor. Due to the greasy gravy I ended up paying for it the next day in the bathroom arena. Service was great. I came in on the weekend so of course it was busy. Once we were seated, our orders were taken right away. Food was made quickly. It was hot, well done, I can't complain about the service. We ordered the Strawberry Banana French Toast Combo and the Blueberry Lemon Ricotta Pancake Combo. My iced coffee with French vanilla tasted really weird, it didn't taste like coffee at all. That was the only downside so I don't recommend. There's plenty of free parking. Location is clean. It was overheard from staff that the manager takes all the orders so he can take majority of tips. I don't know if it's true but that really didn't sit well with me so that's why this is getting 4 stars. I would have given this location 5 stars but I can see this being true because the manger did take all the orders. Majority of staff are Latinos and don't speak fluent English so I can see why he would have to step in due to the language barrier but I hope folks are being paid fairly regardless. read more

I have been going to this location on and off for 20+ years now, mostly for breakfast. The service was always on point. The food portion was always huge. I ordered the Jalapeño Kick Steakburger, which was pretty rich in flavor and had the right amount of jalapeños! I'm loving their "hoppy" hour. Their Brioche French toast is excellent. Two slices for $3.50 is a great deal! Due to COVID precautions, they bring you breakfast syrup (not real maple syrup) in a plastic cup and salt & pepper in little packages. Other $3.50 items are available as well as heartier items for $6.00. The tea they serve is higher end than the usual Lipton. Revolution Tea in an infuser bag. It's just $1.50. My wife and don't usually go to IHOP, in fact it's probably been 15 years or so since I've been in one. In the door we found tables and booths stacked with supplies. The restaurant was fairly clean with several tables occupied including the one with the screaming baby which we had the unfortunate luck of being seated next to and, that baby cried the entire time. Our server was quick, friendly and attentive to our needs. We noticed that the menu was very small, no more platters as it's all sandwiches and pretty much pancakes. I ordered The Pepper Jack Patty Melt on Rye Bread which was a burger served with pepper jack cheese, grilled onions and some type of sauce which was just ok, i also had a side of onion rings which were saturated in oil. My wife ordered The Cali Turkey Melt which she ate half but said it was also just ok. She also  ordered French Fries which were also very greasy. For dessert we shared a pancake which was the star of the show, light, fluffy and served with a warm but very thin watery syrup. A solid ihop in a good shopping center. Very clean, fast service and food prepared well.

Went on a Sunday so the wait was about 45 minutes. My group consisted of three people so the hostess sat us in a booth. After 5 minutes of sitting in the booth we noticed a roach crawling on the table. We informed the hostess and she sat us at a table in the middle of the dining room. This was our first sign to leave but one of my friends was really hungry but my appetite was ruined. The waitress was pleasant and provided us with water at the new table but the one of the water glasses had a red lipstick stain on it. When we showed the waitress she explained that the lipstick is hard to get off glasses. I was disgusted and grossed and left. This is the most unsanitary IHOP I've ever been to and will never return. It has turned me off to all IHOPs. Eat with caution and an antibiotic if you visit this IHOP. I wish I could give zero stars but Yelp doesn't allow you to do that. read more
