On 1-14-24 we went to IHOP on Skyland. As you can see in the photo, my toast had Mold on it. I asked the waiter, Cory, to replace the toast. He never apologized and we never saw a manager. By the time he brought more toast, I had decided I did Not want to eat it. I requested him to remove my order from the ticket. He proceeded to say, "you mean you made me wait on this toast and now you don't want it". I said, "Yes, remove it". I do Not recommend this IHOP to anyone. While the cleanliness of the restaurant leaves many things to be desired, the food here has never let me down. Be warned, anytime I have been here on a weekend for breakfast there is always a wait. Between visitors for football games, locals looking for an after church meal, and doordash or to-go orders, the already tiny staff is swamped and things take a while. On this visit, we had to wait 30 minutes and then another almost 45 minutes for our food after being seated. It would not have been an issue if not for the fact that two people in my party had to catch a flight. They had to inhale their food, which was still good, but would have been better if they could have actually enjoyed it. My partner and I had a bit more time to enjoy our meals, and we did. I got the mushroom and spinach omelet with egg whites and fruit as my side. It was stuffed with veggies and smothered with a creamy hollandaise. I enjoyed every bite and was also surprised by the freshness of the fruit. This place has much room to grow in terms of taking care of their restaurant and finding ways to better deal with large crowds, but their food is still good. It holds up to IHop standards, which is why we come back when looking for something simple (just no longer in a rush anymore). read more

Okay, so ihop used to be my families spot for breakfast! These last 3 visits, sporadically, have not been it. The service is 10/10. However, the food is either not seasoned properly or overcooked; mainly, it's over cooked. Hash browns are always hard, & I loveeeeeeee hash browns lol. The atmosphere is also very welcoming, just not a lot of space to move around because the tables are close to the booths. & especially if you have babies, DO NOT BRING A STROLLER, CAR SEAT OR WHATEVER bc it's going to feel like you're taking up too much space. The only thing I noticed last visit I didn't like was an employee going to the restroom with their apron on. Server or not, I just don't want you handling my food like that is all. I'm just gonna get right into it, food was literally amazing, service was great and friendly, and the iconic IHOP interior was very nice. The only reason I gave three stars was because of the bushes outside the doors. I am, and when I say this I mean VERY afraid of wasp and bees. The outside bushes are a home for tiny yellow jacket looking things. When I say a home I mean infested with them. I walked by them with my mom and about 20 bees came flying out. This is a typical IHOP. However it is open 24 hours a day which is a plus. There is no way anyone can or should be having an omelette with 3 pancakes so I always order mine with no sides. Also, if you are concerned about carbs you should ask for no pancake batter batter in the eggs. This is important as I felt weighted down for days the last time I ate here and did not ask for that. The sausage was good but overcooked a little. The bottom line is IHOP is a dependable breakfast location if you travel. I would not seek it out but it is always serviceable and reliable. read more

I love IHOP generally, but I tried to visit on Friday night for a small birthday dinner (6 people total) and was very disappointed. The restaurant was maybe 1/4 full, but the waiter and host were nowhere to be found. After about 10 minutes of standing at the host stand, a worker walked past and said it would probably be 15 minutes before we'd be seated. We were happy to wait, so we sat down. In the 35 minutes we sat there, we only saw the waitress/hostess walk past once more, and she didn't acknowledge us again or any of the other 5 parties that came and went without being noticed. This ihop is absolutely atrocious! If you want good food, clean environment, professionalism and to eat in a timely manner....AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST! Upon the early part of us waiting for our waitress, we saw the manager cough into his hand at the hostess stand, picked up menus, and proceed to escort people to a table using those same menus that he just spread his germs onto. That was the first disgusting thing. When my husband got his water, it had white specks floating around in it. It took 35+ minutes just to get 2/3 of the meals for our table. That last third that was missing was a SINGLE WAFFLE! This waffle was not a meal, it didn't have any eggs or bacon/sausage that were to be served with it. We were sat right at the kitchen entrance, so we could see right through and saw not one single waffle iron being used. It was ridiculous! We got the attention a petite older black woman who was standing at what I believe was a register behind us and asked for a manager after 5 minutes had gone by of us getting out food and my mother in law not having hers. She asked why and we explained the situation. She goes to talk to the manager and he breezes by our table not saying a word and she comes back to the table attempting to explain things to us! Then she ask us why we aren't eating our food in front of my 58 year old mother in law....maybe the people born/raised in Tuscaloosa were raised in a barn with no respect or manners...but I wasn't! She then attempts to banter back and forth with me and I'm like you know I'm not even sure why we are talking to you, you're not a manager and can't do anything for us. She then gave a snarky response of well all he is going to do is give you a discount or make all of your meals free. When she said that I realized that she was right and no free food could justify the lack of service. Also my value as a customer is definitely higher than the maybe $35 worth of food at this disgusting iHop. It shouldn't take over 45 minutes to get a waffle!
