Yes you have to pay $50 for that, but I am convinced that's how they make the money as their estimate was way over-priced. The guy didn't suggest to fix anything, just replace and big repairs. The estimate came to 3X what the contractor I hired charged (and the guy did a great job.) Don't believe the hype, they are not worth it even to get an estimate cause it's not free. They know they are high.

I'd estimate that we paid an extra $300 or so for things that they do to try to add time. Some of the work took far longer than it should. Somehow our tech spent two hours installing less than 2 feet of floor molding, when we already had it. So, we paid like $400 something for what should be maybe a $150, or max $200 project. Plus they look for other ways to make a project take far longer. When we had to order a door, the staff was like "we'll pick it up for you from the warehouse" -- it was 45 minutes away from our home and would have cost us hundreds, when it turns out the company they purchased it from could easily deliver it for $7. Hambelton didn't even give me that option til I fought for it. I also told our tech not to bother doing certain things (like clean), and since he insisted, I offered our own shop vac, and he refused to use it, instead going down to his car to get more of his own tools/supplies. So cool, another $50 for some cleaning that would have taken me like 2 min. There was even dumb stuff, like the company made me pay for our tech's parking meter because the contract (which you don't sign until after paying the non refundable deposit, says that you must guarantee parking for your tech). It wasn't necessarily about the money there, it was just annoying that they cannot accept the cost of doing business. For that reason, I'm not sure I would use Hambelton again. I don't mind paying for good work, but, again, this just felt exploitive. But, if you truly don't care about price, Hambelton was reliable, and did good work (which, admittedly is rare for handymen).

The alarm was going off, my property manager's emergency line was not answering, and the condo association's published emergency number was invalid. I eventually called the non-emergency fire station because I was concerned about water in the smoke detector and whether it could affect the building's alarm/sprinkler system. Hours later, around 10:30 PM, I received a call from someone who described himself as calling from an "emergency line." In that moment, I assumed he was connected to the property manager, condo association, or emergency response, and I started explaining the situation because I thought help had finally arrived. Instead, after a gut feeling something was "off", I discovered that he had gotten my name from fire department dispatch information and was contacting me to solicit business. Even after I told him I did not appreciate being called at 10:30 at night with him claiming to respond to my emergency call, he demanded the names of the property manager and property owner. That is wildly inappropriate. An active leak involving water damage and a smoke detector is not a marketing opportunity. Using emergency-response information and vague "emergency line" language to get someone on the phone during an active crisis is misleading and predatory. I would never hire or recommend someone who conducts business this way. I didn't trust this guy after just a few minutes on the phone with him, I definitely wouldn't let him in my house.

Their initial quote is always competitive, however, as the work makes progress, you will find many things that were not included in the original estimate. Therefore, if you're not knowledgeable enough, your final quote might end up being much higher than the initial estimate. For example: we paid almost 10K+ to remodel one room and they left one wall unfinished because they said it was not included (we thought it was). So make sure you have all the nitty gritty details written down in your estimate to avoid confusion later. Also, their work hasn't stood the test of time. We noticed many things have started to fall apart not too long after the work was completed - example : our LVP is peeling off in low traffic areas, leakage under the shower door and under sink, multiple door hinges have already broken, the floor has uneven spots despite paying extra to flatten it, etc. The work looks nice in the beginning but after a while you'll start noticing where they made compromises to make it "affordable". In terms of communication, they are pretty responsive. We haven't had major issues with Alexa, Sam, Camilo, Dan other than occasional misalignment between everyone.

Our Closing was almost delayed to some confusion of lender, Integrity could have charged us 1% of sales price for delay in closing and was only going to charge us .1% (significant difference). Luckily lender was awesome and came through with a quick turnaround and closed same day, but much props to Integrity. I made several trips to visit Morgen Smith was the sales manager, and Brooke was very helpful as well telling us about the community and house features, never a wasted trip and no buyers remorse moving in! Also Integrity jumped through some hoops to placate the VA Appraiser who requested stuff not required by the building code (two additional railings) to make settlement on time, and they got it done.
