I always leave here more stressed than when I came in. Dealing with out of stock items and extremely long lines. Today we put together a list of all our pieces needed for a shelving unit and went down to get them and low and behold we are missing a critical $8 piece. Sure they will order it for a $10 shipping fee. Which is more than the piece costs. Sorta felt like that is a big 'we don't need your business". We then ask when it will come in. They don't know, can't notify us and really can't help. The inventory list says they have a few but it is only updated once a day. I love IKEA as much as the next person...I enjoy meandering through the store-maze to get creative ideas for my home, I think it is a clean, tidy and well thought out space, it is generously staffed with helpful people, and I appreciate the fun and functional furnishing on a budget. What I DO NOT LIKE is that every time I visit this Columbus location, there are 40 people in line with only 1 or 2 registers open. Are you kidding me IKEA??!? You even thought to number and highlight the registers so I can see -without even counting for myself- that there are TWENTY-SIX of them, but never more than two open at a time, no matter how many people stand and wait to pay. I waited for 20+ minutes to check out 2 items today. Won't be back anytime soon, despite my love for their sweet Swedish stuff. read more

I called for information about the Crayfish party because my daughter and me love the store , and the customer service rep. said "Do not worry just come to the store same day and will be able to get tickets there will be plenty seats and food ", so I decided to call back next day to be sure and they told me that was not more tickets available . It only gets 4 stars because while this place always looks immaculate, they don't like to staff many lanes so the lines get long. But the people are friendly and the cinnamon rolls are great! But we've come on a week night, a weekend morning, and a weekend evening and no matter when we go, there are always between 3-4 lanes open and you'll expect to wait awhile to get to the cashier. I will say there are always associates on the floor willing to help whenever you need it and the app is genius! Look it up, it'll tell you where it's located, grab, go! I do love this store but come during non peak times (I still have yet to figure out when this is). Parking is great and they have lots of bays to back your car up to to load your furniture. The return policy is 365 days but you can ONLY exchange mattresses, they won't just return them. You also can't grab anything, everything has to be returned first and then bought. read more

Never shopping at Ikea again. Bought a small piece of furniture, upon unpacking I was disappointed to see the piece was already damaged. Took the purchase back for an exchange. After 35 minutes in line they took the exchange back and suggested I go get the item again and stand in the check out line again. No thanks. I have never been to an Ikea with such rude employees! Have tried to use the kid care multiple times but there's always a "wait" period of 40-90 minutes. The confusing part is there are usually only 4 kids in there. Then as we passed all I can hear is the kid care people yelling at the kids! Apparently they can't run, jump, lay down or really do much but sit without getting yelled at. Things are constantly out of stock and I'm just not impressed with the quality of helpfulness of people working there. read more

Absolutely worthless this is not your traditional store! I would not recommend going to the store, it is very long and it's like a maze trying to get through. If there was a fire in the store I wouldn't know which direction to run absolutely worthless. It seems like they are trying to push you to buy way more than you need. I had the absolute worst experience shopping at IKEA. Traveled just under 3hrs to pick up three stools I ordered and they handed me one stool that was not the right item. When asked if they could just go grab the correct one, they claimed they could not because it was in the self serve area and people were there. The employee offered to ship me the items, but had to verify with his resolutions manager that it could be done. I said that was fine and left my contact information. Few days later, I receive an email from FedEx that they are shipping the item from IKEA to my billing address. I was never contacted about where to send the items like I was informed I would be. I do not live at my billing address which is states away because I am in school. I contacted IKEA, and the resolutions manager informed me that they contacted FedEx and had updated the delivery address. I was under the impression that the issue was resolved. However, I received an email from FedEx the next day that the item was now in transit to my billing address. I contacted IKEA again and the first lady I spoke with was very kind and helpful, however the same cannot be said about the resolutions manager who was working today. Before I could even explain the situation she began interrupting me and proceeded to do so throughout the entire duration of our conversation. In the end she told me there was nothing they could do even though the created the problem to begin with. She was extremely disrespectful, I have never experienced such horrible customer service in my entire life. Not to mention the fact that the items that I was able to pick up were both defective and have to be returned to the store. This entire experience was a nightmare. read more

Great prices on tons of home decor, food, etc! I love their espresso beans, especially! I also love their plants, holiday decor, kitchen accessories and bedding. I wouldn't necessarily buy furniture here that you would sit on or put weight on. It's very lightweight and just ok quality. We bought a desk chair for my son here, but I wouldn't recommend it for an adult. Their shelving is great, though! read more

I have enjoyed visiting IKEA the past year since they have opened. I think it's a fun place to window shop and just walk around. However, my perception has changed about this company when I actually bought furnitures from there. I had my furnitures delivered to me. They gave me a window from 11am to 1pm. I got a call at 2:30 saying that it will be delayed and the new window will be 3 to 5. But it was past 5 and I still haven't heard from them. I decided to call their customer service. Turns out their customer service number on my order form isn't valid. What's weird is I got a call from this exact number on my phone earlier in the day and it was a scam call telling me that my IP address was messed up - nothing to do with IKEA. Do the scammers have my number now? So I called two other phone numbers on their website until I finally reached customer service. Told them my situation and how it was inconvenient for me to stay home all day waiting on my delivery when I could've had a productive day running etrands. They told me they would transfer me to someone for a refund, and I was ON HOLD FOR 2.5 HOURS. Thank god the delivery took longer and made me stay home all day with nothing to do because I would not have that kind of patience. Either they were rly that busy, or they did not respect my time at all. If they were busy, it would be nice to know where I am in the line. Also, the person who created my order at IKEA misspelled my name, address, and email when I clearly spelled it out for her at least 3 times. She told me it wouldn't be a problem that they were misspelled as long as I had my order number, but it was definitely an additional inconvenience when I had to explain to customer service that my contact information was wrong every time they transferred me to someone. Further, when I finally got my furnitures, there were footprints all over the boxes. Someone clearly stepped on them. I opened my furniture and there's a dent in it. I realized IKEA sucks. They suck at their customer service, and their furnitures are way too pricey for their quality. Never again, IKEA. read more

Ikea Columbus is one of the best Ikea's i have been in the states. I love all the examples of rooms depending of square feet and all the ideas of how to put it together. I love how the furniture is so versatile. The prices are great and there always bringing something new or creating a new space to give ideas. Coming from Los Angeles, CA, where ikeas are everywhere, I found it big, clean and with plenty to choose. Great variety of items, the employees are helpful and attentive. I have been to this location several times just to see if they had anything new. The last couple visits the lines at the check out were ridiculous. 2 lanes open on a Friday night, REALLY? Last 2 times spent a bunch of time picking out items then got to the warehouse and the bins are empty. They should have a system to tag showroom items that are not currently in stock. Waste of time. Once you have been to the store first time. It's hard to go back to see the same stuff over and over. Perfect place to outfit a dorm or first apartment but not much else. Went here for the obvious. Found things that we wanted and they were easy to pick up in the self serve center. Some items were difficult to find if they weren't in a specific aisle. Be prepared to spend at least three hours in the store as the store is designed for the customer to see everything they have to offer. It is a lot of walking which I did not mind. The reason I am rating this so low is because of the wait time to pick up your items. Some items you have to see an associate to get. They will give you a print out and that is what you take to check out. After paying for that item they will send you to the pick up area for those printed items. On that sheet will be a number and you watch the screen to go from red, yellow, then green. Red is the order is placed, yellow is the staff are retrieving you item, and green is ready for pick up. There is absolutely no system in place, which was validated by the staff, of retrieving items. I sat for 55 minutes (no exaggeration) to wait for my item to go from yellow to green, while others who had much larger items waited less than 20 minutes. To my surprise my item I was waiting for was actually in a smaller package and less weight than others. After I hit 40 minutes of waiting that is when I asked an associate what was taking so long and how it made no sense that others weren't waiting as long and I watched them check out after. That is when I was told that there is no system and they just pick items as they are located. Maybe this will change since they are still new? read more

IKEA has a unique selection of items and furniture pieces. They actually make the shopping experience fun with the way the store is visually set up. The only issue is that the store is so large that it is easy to lose your way. There is only one exit and you have to go through the entire store to get there. I wish there were a better mapping system for customers so that they are aware of at least where to exit the store. The one in place now is not clear. Especially for the elderly or customers who may not be able to walk or stand on their feet for long periods of time. read more

My boyfriend and I went to buy furniture for his new apartment and we decided to pay for the delivery and assembly fee because we both drive small cars. It was roughly $300 for the 2 nightstands, coffee table, and TV stand to be delivered and assembled. We also got a couch delivered but did not pay to get it assembled. Here is the timeline of what happened: May 5: Bought the furniture and paid for everything to be delivered and all but the couch to be assembled on Sunday May 6 between 2 and 6 May 6: We get a call that they will not be coming because the delivery man sliced his hand open and had to go get stitches. We were very understanding and rescheduled for Tuesday between 9 and 1. May 8: No ikea at 1pm. Call Ikea and they say they will be there by 3pm. They get there at 2:59pm. They say they are going to assemble the couch. They assemble the nightstands and assemble the TV stand 75%. They did not put the shelves in the TV stand. They leave a note saying they do not have the hardware to assemble the coffee table and do not assemble the couch. We are understanding because we did not pay for the couch but he should not have said he would if he was not going to. We call IKEA to reschedule and are on hold for 1.5 hours before hanging up. He went into IKEA the next day and rescheduled for Friday May 11. They give him a window of 9am-9pm. Keep in mind my boyfriend has now had to take off work May 8 and now May 11 as well and they say he has to be home from 9am-9pm. May 11: We get a voice message at 10am that they will not be coming due to "mechanical issues". We reschedule for Tuesday May 15 and they say they will assemble the couch for free for all of our trouble. May 15: They come and finish the coffee table but refuse to do the couch because we have not paid for it. My boyfriend goes into IKEA and they give us a receipt saying we get the couch for free and a number to call. They say they will be there on May 16 between 9-1. May 16 (today): It is 1:47pm. They are not here yet. My boyfriend has had to take off work on May 8, May 11, May 15, and May 16. We just want our couch done or our money back. I am so tired of this. read more

Good heavens, don't ask for delivery.!! We bought a wardrobe that was supposed to be delivered on a Monday between 9am-1pm. After 1 PM, we got a call that it would be delivered by 9 PM that day. It never happened. Next day, we got a call that it would be delivered in 5 to 30 minutes. One hour later, no delivery. We were told it would be delivered that day. At 8:30 PM that day, we got a call that from the delivery person the he was too tired to continue! If you have to call IKEA for customer service, you will literally wait an hour before you talk to someone. If you have to call the delivery people, you'll get rude people and it'll take about 10 to 15 minutes to get through. I asked the IKEA guy to make a $20 bet with me re: item being delivered on Tuesday after the Monday fiasco--he knew better. So it's Wednesday and I'll call IKEA again and maybe someday we will get our item. They did reimburse our delivery fee, but I can assure you, wasting 12 hours of my day cost more than $63.43. read more

This was my first IKEA experience and it didn't disappoint! I went in with my fiancé who had been to the IKEA in Cincinnati so he was familiar with how the store works. When you first go in carts are by the door and I thought about getting one but didn't and I'm glad I didn't because it was a lot easier going through the showrooms without having to take a cart through (especially to get around furniture). When we got the marketplace I got a cart and am glad I did there because we picked up a lot more than I was expecting! I was a little surprised at how many basics they have, and how affordable everything is since I thought they mostly had furniture. We also found some good furniture pieces that are super affordable. If you struggle with inspiration for decorating your space or need organizational ideas, IKEA is the place to go since they give you plenty of ideas. We'll definitely be going back more often! read more

But there is a serious lack of customer service and all around competent employees at the Columbus store. Especially if you need any help with check out or at the loading dock. Ikea is always Disneyland for adults. We had been driving to West Chester and were happy that Columbus would get its own Ikea. However, we have found that the new Columbus store has a problem keeping things in stock. We noticed this problem right after it opened, but assumed it was because they had been mobbed by excited locals. For example, we went last week to get some more frozen potato/broccoli Gronsakskaka vegetable cakes (to which we are addicted). There were none in the freezer and we were told the delivery truck usually comes on Thursday. Today, the following Monday, we made the trip again and I got the last 3 boxes. I assume anyone else looking for them in the next 3-4 days is out of luck as we were last week. If they're so popular why hasn't the manager, or the computer, increased the order? The Daim or chocolate frozen tortes were also out of stock, both in the freezer and in the restaurant. At lunch my friend ordered the meatballs but they were out of gravy. How does that happen? That's an Ikea staple. They were even giving us to-go paper coffee cups because there were no more ceramic ones available. Well, I suppose we should have been happy, at least the restaurant was open. Last week it was closed all day "for training." People who had driven hours to get there couldn't even get a meal, and believe me they were not happy. Today the glass beverage containers for the car that I wanted (rubber sleeves and lid) were completely gone. Several other items we had hoped to find were not there. Stocks just looked low throughout. Finally, I had to tell the restaurant cashier about the condition of the ladies restroom, where not a single toilet was clean enough to use. She said she would call housekeeping, but isn't that sort of thing done on a schedule? On the pro side, the staff members we have met at Ikea are unfailingly helpful. But what can they do about a store that isn't getting stocked enough? Perhaps a manager will read this and realize we're noticing. read more

I bought a leather couch at the Columbus IKEA store. We had problems right from the start. First they ordered the wrong couch. We went back to the store and corrected their mistake. We had arranged for a delivery date which they did not show up for. We called and had to rearrange another delivery date which they didn't show up for. Called again and arranged a third delivery date. They finally showed up. They put the couch together only to find that they hadn't included all the legs for the couch. The people who delivered the couch tried to argue that the couches didn't come with legs, except that they had included half the couch legs but not the other half. He told me Indian people didn't want couches with legs and went on and on about it was my mistake. I asked him if that were true then why had they included half the legs but not the other half? Also this is America and most their customers are not Indian. Called the store and they weren't going to make things right. They left us with an unusable couch. This experience was very unpleasant and unsatisfactory. I would not recommend buying furniture at IKEA. read more

The Ikea products are great and affordable for every room of the house! This store was way too busy, it was hard to even look at things without people grabbing and standing in front of me. There was not enough cart options so by the end people are carrying a bunch of yellow bags. By the time I reached the end, the check-out lines were absurd!! After picking out my furniture from the warehouse, I waited in line for 40 minutes with a bunch of very grumpy and tired customers. The cashier was clearly extremely overwhelmed and running on adrenalin. He screwed up my transaction because he was so flustered!! UGH!!! I was supposed to receive $25 off with a coupon that he didn't scan. I noticed it right at the end before walking away and he said I had to wait in line at the return & exchange. That was an additional 25 minutes of my day wasted. I was so angry that they didn't have more cash registers open on mid-day Sunday because this may have all been prevented.
