I recently visited the Columbus location and can honestly say that around every corner there's incredible vintage--thoughtfully hand-selected and beautifully displayed, almost exactly as it would have been when originally sold. I'm a huge fan of '70s fashion and absolutely fell in love with a pair of high-waisted, straight-leg denim jeans. Sadly, they were a bit too tight in the waist, even though the fit everywhere else was perfect. While I'm not overly fond of the pricing, I do understand it--because for the perfect, high-quality pair of vintage jeans, I'd absolutely pay the price. I didn't leave empty-handed though; I walked out with a super cool pair of sunnies that I'm obsessed with. Huge thanks to my lovely sweetheart for finding this gem of a store! My friend and I stopped in here on a day out while visiting from out of town. We weren't sure what to expect, but we're pleasantly surprised. This store specializes in vintage finds. they have furniture, glassware, jewelry, clothing, vinyl records, and a lot of other really cool pieces. You could spend a few hours in here, looking at everything they had. Their vintage clothing selection is quite extensive, although we both felt that the pieces were a bit overpriced. It was definitely a fun way to spend a few hours, but again we didn't spend any money because the clothing was so pricey. I have been to the Paris Flea Markets. I have been to the Palm Springs Vintage Market. I've even been to some astounding clothing exchanges. But I've never seen ANYTHING like Flower Child. What a collection! Two floors! And lots of women's AND men's clothing! And so many collectibles and furnishings! Not a lot of things for larger ladies but folks, it's vintage clothing. I was there 3 hours and didn't even get to it all. There were drawers upon drawers of jewelry I didn't get into for example. I got completely overwhelmed. I think if you're coming from out of town, maybe do it over two days. It's that intense. And for goddsake people, don't come hungry! I will definitely be making a trip to their sister store in Cleveland, Ohio. And if you're coming for Flower Child, then you might as well visit the amazing Lustron house at the Ohio History Center, the Early TV Museum and stay at the fantastic restored motel, the SouthWind motel. Flower Child is not the only vintage store in Columbus, but I contend that it is the one with the greatest, best-curated collection and the most character. The folks that run it have great taste, and nowhere else will you find the care and effort they put into staging their finds. They have thousands of items of every kind, from vintage leather goods (the only ethical way to buy leather these days, IMO) to clothing spanning four or more decades, an ever-rotating vinyl offering and collectible Americana from a time when things were made to last. You could visit a dozen times and still find new things to tempt your wallet. Don't go expecting thrift store prices, but do go with the intention of bringing home a well-preserved little piece of history and adding character to your home from a time gone by. Pro tip: the first time you go, you'll get a 15% off coupon at checkout that you can reuse on every subsequent visit (they condone this, and whatever they lose by giving a 15% discount each time they more than make up in repeat customers). They seem to get new stock in at irregular intervals, so if you're like me and you're always adding to your collection, drop in from time to time and save each visit. I go about once a month. The moment I stepped through the door, someone was complaining about the establishment and how the workers wouldn't let them try out the potential couch they'd like to buy. As I was looking around the store, I noticed everything (and I mean literally everything) was WAY overpriced. I'm a veteran thrift store shopper, and my jaw dropped. They have a lot of unique and interesting pieces of clothing and items, although you will be paying a pretty penny for legit anything. I wouldn't waste your time stopping here. It's not your traditional antique store. It's an antique store that capitalizes on overpricing items and selling them to people who have no idea the worth of what they're buying for such an extreme price. The staff wasn't friendly, either. I'm a self-proclaimed flower child, often referred to as an old soul, or born in the wrong decade. I love anything old, dated, with a story. That being said, Flower Child has been on my list of places to visit in Columbus for a while now. With their move to 5th street I put it off for a bit, but finally had the chance to visit recently. This area of the Italian Village is growing and while it's not super popping right now, give it some time, it will be! They have parking available around the back of the building. Ladies, I advise having someone with you if you're going when its dark, it's a little sketchy. They also have wheelchair access, which is very nice. Inclusivity for the win! Once walking through their doors you're immediately taken back in time. I agree with a lot of the other reviews that describe the experience to that of a museum. Areas of the store are displayed like rooms, with themes, and amazing decorating inspo. Like when in a museum, many items are for looking not touching. I stopped counting the number of times I got excited and went for an item, only to slowly put it down and back away with ease. Agreeing again with the other reviews, the prices will leave you shocked and in awe. Being someone that truly appreciates antique and vintage finds, this store is on the pricier side when compared to other local shops of a similar kind. That being said, they do go above and beyond when curating their inventory. Flower Child definitely has a funky vibe and I can see myself coming back when I'm looking for gifts or very specific vintage goods. I also loved all of their holiday décor and clothing. Flower Child is a beautiful collection of vintage items that has been been pieced together in such a way that makes it almost feel like a museum. Unfortunately, it also felt like a museum in that making a purchase here doesn't feel like an option - the prices are laughable. The best part about antiquing/vintage shopping is finding a great deal on a piece that maybe you wouldn't have found otherwise. This trip to Flower Child was filled with finding great finds, only to gasp at the sticker shock. The prices found on most of the items felt like that of new, designer items. Regardless, Flower Child is a great place to just walk around and peruse. Many of the decor are set almost as exhibits, which makes it a fun place to walk around and look. It's fun to look around but the average price for a sofa that I saw was about $4000, plastic bubble lamp average price $89 and Lord for bid you want a piece of Blanco glassware plan on paying $290 and above What is shame that the price gouging is so deep at this place at these retail prices this place must have about a $4 million inventory with the three rooms of items that they have. If you're in the area check it out and walk around but if you have to make the trip from elsewhere to come see it I would recommend saving the trip. read more

I wish I had a spare 15 grand and a shipping container to send everything back home with me.. Incredibly well curated and presented....Had to edit this post and come back to respond to the one star reviews? Compared to major cities this place is easily 30-40 percent cheaper for many items. An almost perfect condition denim jacket for 50 bucks?!?! 70's to 90's vintage shirts for 35-50 bucks?? in NYC or LA they would be in the hundreds range, and modern recreations for two to four hundred. Comparing a place like this to GoodWill is laughable. you would have to spend days and visits multiple Goodwill locations to MAYBE score something special. Just the selection and variety of lighting in this place is next level. Oh man this place is so cool! My hairstylist recommended this place because I love all things vintage and antique-y. This store hits the spot. When you walk in, you're greeted by these creepy vintage mannequins - something you'd find in the window of an abandoned town used to do experiments on. I was sold immediately. This store has EVERYTHING! Vintage clothings, furniture, books, games, shoes, vinyl records, magazine clippings, art, flatware and silverware and glassware. They have jewelry and hats and accessories for all occasions. It's two floors of jam packed goodies that will keep you occupied for hours. I found an amazing faux fur lined leather jacket for $56. And a pair of biker books for $35. The prices are great and you can really deck out your home and your wardrobe with cool vintage pieces. read more

Originally from Cleveland, where they still have a store, this Short North vintage dealer sees themselves as a museum as well as a shop. I agree. A walk through here is as valuable as any exhibit in town, and brings you back to the time when doctor lit cigarettes in consultations, people dressed with flare, and furniture was crafted with the divine curves and colors known in design as Mid Century Modern. The nearest of its type is the Clintonville shop Boomerang; both take great care in their displays of 1960s chic. Flower Child is larger, on par with the Antique Mall in size. Though its cliché name focuses its wares around that one decade, items from a far as the 30s to as near as the 80s are found here too, as well as the time in-between. Cleaned immaculately, the displays jump out at with fresh, inviting colors; you just want to hang out on its furniture all day, drink from its sparkling sniffers with aged bourbon, nap on its retro bedding One vignette is just delicious. It has comfy black floor riding sofas, glass end and coffee tables, front of a line of panel led credenzas. Behind it hangs modern scripted art, 60s Native American paintings, glass table top bling, small red accent lamps, and a portable record player. Add the paneled armoire and I am tempted to spend my life's savings to dress a basement. Other items of beauty include: oriental sphere chadaliers, doorway beads, egg chairs, shapey glassware, plastic ware in primary brightness, floral designs, checkered pillows, vintage bikes, LSD inspired glass art, collector crack like ad lights and barber poles, green partnered curtains, bar tables with large circular mirrors, and Warholish pop art. The basement features lots of vintage clothing, for women mainly, as I don't think menswear of the 60/70 will ever be back in style, rightfully so. You can also find records in a box here. Some are good albums, but a lot are of unknown artist. For me MCM has been in an out. As an early 1970s child I grew up in its midst; it was for me the original normal, nothing special was about it. When the 80s came it looked goofy to me, kitschy, I grimaced at photos I was in bell-bottoms, and laugh at my mother flower dresses and Jackie-O haircut. Today I see it as high art. The furniture, the paintings, the obsolete tabletop telephone reminds me of my young childhood. Now I realize that it was a cool time to be alive.
