This place rocks! I went in to get a desk & ended up buying 2 counters for $5.99 each plus saw horses for $10 each to make a L-shaped desk. Also got some random things like like a fern and money plant with pots - a cute tin pot for 49 cents! - and a weird desk light with LED, frames and a throw pillow. I love all the different options they have for desktops and table legs, including adjustable height legs. I also roamed around to look at the room displays and to see new products. I like the self-checkout lanes and easy lanes out front to load up the car. I'll keep coming back! read more

I don't know why I decided to give this place another chance. We made the mistake of ordering a dinning table/chairs, two dressers, one bunk bed and one pull out type of couch for the upstairs office. We needed delivery as we were moving into our home, things were arriving damaged, delivery was weird because they outsource it, it was a nightmare. Dinning table is not used often, which is good as it does not seem sturdy. Dinning chairs, very light weight and cheaply made, one broke already, the chairs I wanted were not in stock, I kept checking back and not one person on the floor said more will be delivered to the new store, always got a "I don't know response", at the time they were building the new IKEA so OF course more are coming. The dressers are fine, they are for kids and are holding up thankfully. The bunk started squeaking within months of purchasing, so regret that purchase. The pull out couch always showed up cracked in the drawer, we got sick of them bringing new ones, so we kept it, they gave a discount, the crack doesn't affect the use of the couch but the idea of buying something new and it coming broke every time was SO frustrating, don't even get me started on returning the broken couches, they set it up but the new delivery people were so confused and eventually had to send a new company to pick up. Fast forward 6 years later, got a nightstand because it matches one of the dressers in our basement. Get it all put together, except the last drawer, as usual the directions are always a joke, nothing is labeled but the bag of screws. Nothing is lined up but I know how to put together furniture and did not expect much. The pieces of wood in the last drawer were not drilled at all. I reached out to customer service, great experience there, they got in touch with me right away. Was very impressed, I sent pictures of the boards without the drilled holes and the the picture in the booklet of what I don't have. They sent stuff out immediately but I got the exact same thing I already have...I need this board and will honestly say we will never step foot in there again. read more

All we wanted was a couch delivered to us. Our first choice for delivery online was two weeks out. We ordered it and two weeks came, but then the truck drivers come and tell me that they are missing a piece. I was told to call a number, but apparently the queues are so bad, that it doesn't even put you in a queue to wait to have your call answered. Then we decide to go in person and have to wait two hours to speak to someone. They said they put in an order for the item, we stand in the delivery line to set up the delivery for same day, we go home and we wait and nothing. Not only that, but we go online and see that our order can not even be found. All we wanted to do was to track the order, just to find out we wasted our whole day waiting for an order that doesn't even exist. This is a horrible experience. I was invited to accompany a college friend to IKEA. Last time I wandered through IKEA was 12 years ago - with the same college friend. Goodness this store increased in square footage! One remains in a salmon run though, forced in one direction through ALL departments. Love especially the living room, bedroom, and kitchen layouts....just reminded me that I still live in Goodwill, post-dormitory style. Sigh. I bought a stuffed panda and goat - soft and cuddly, with a donation for each sale to charity. Kitchen towels with a cupcake motif. Box of KEX biscuits - tasty alphabet cookies! I was able to spell out MARIE RULES once at home. Two bags of their tasty frozen Swedish meatballs. Even got a monstrous sized shopping bag, free with a Chinook coupon! I don't receive the catalog in the mail anymore, but the online site gave me an idea of things I was interested in to curtail impulse purchases. Best to visit during a weekday mid morning according to college friend. It must be insanity during the weekends, especially with the holiday season ramping up. While this IKEA undoubtedly has everything that other locations have too, the layout is what bugs me the most. I know, it's meant to be like you never finish, but at this location that's exactly what it feels like - never-ending. It seems to pretty old, never gotten an upgrade or a new paint job - not even in the garage - look up at the ceiling and you know what I mean. It's seems a bit run down. The staff is very friendly and helpful though, more so than on the East Coast or in California, so I'll give them credit for that. Now if only Ikea wouldn't change their furniture lineup so often with seemingly meaningless minor design changes so that I can't buy additional doors or drawers for units I already have more than six months after I buy something, I'd still be in love with the Ikea I know from many years ago. Learned my lesson with Expedit - if I like a particular line I'll make sure, going forward, to get everything I potentially need because they might not have it anymore in a few months. Turn that equation upside down and it means I'll be spending less at Ikea if my budget doesn't allow for a major purchase. Despite having 30 (yes 30) checkout lanes I've never seen more than eight open at a time, and as I wrote this there are only four open. Each of the four open lanes has an average of seven parties waiting to check out; my wait time will exceed 15 minutes just to get up to the cashier. Gotta love IKEA. People come here for different reasons: design inspiration, easy to put together furniture, Swedish meatballs (I kid not). I've now been to IKEA in different states and countries but you know when you go there, you'll find similar items so there's a familiarity to it when you go into the building. Mind you, the store is huge. Unless you know what you're looking for you can get lost in the mystical showrooms for hours just wondering how you can squeeze in that extra desk or how to prop up your bed for additional space. So I've been (fortunately and perhaps unfortunately) been on the IKEA greenhouse kick. Apparently IKEA makes these show cabinets that when modified can become an indoor greenhouses. The popularity of these "greenhouses" has been fueled by the pandemic as people grew their houseplant collection. As you get deeper in the weeds (pun intended), you start investing into these plants that just require temperature/humidity controlled environments. So for those of us who don't have yard space (or money!) to build Jeff Bezos glass houses on our property, we turn to these space saving pieces of furniture to care for and display our plants. I dare you to search this through google, Instagram and facebook. You'll find that this trend has been quite popular around the world. Anyways, no where in Seattle will there be enough space to have an IKEA so you'll have to travel out side a bit to find it. If you're really trying to save time, what you can do is do your shopping online, find the location of the pieces you're looking for and head straight to the pick up area. If you don't know what you're wanting to buy just yet, then take some time, plan your morning to stroll through the show rooms. I promise you, you'll have a lovely time (I always do!). If you come later in the day, you can also pick up lunch here. Remember how I mentioned the Swedish meatballs? Well there's actually a food area where you can pick up some Swedish delights. During meal times, they will actually cook up things for you so you can buy it hot and ready. Like everything else, if you just want some meatballs to take home, they have them nicely packaged up in the frozen section and you can make them yourself whenever you want it. Renton is a bit out of the way, but heading over there and picking it up is much easier than waiting for something to be delivered. Frankly, their delivery service is not only pricey but does take weeks before you'll see it arrive on your doorstep. That being said, their in-store inventory and online ordering is different. Just because it's unavailable online or in store doesn't mean that the other doesn't carry it. Keep that in mind. If this IKEA were closer, I might actually be there every day (something I should really talk to a therapist about). The new IKEA is fantastic! Clean, modern, bright and IKEA as ever! Parking was easy on a Tuesday morning, I imagine some peak times it gets full and you end up having to crawl around for a space, but yesterday morning was great. We entered to find all the carts, but unfortunately you can't take the carts upstairs any way aside from the elevator. I was hoping they'd have one of those cool escalators that you can latch carts into, they have them in England - so fun! But not here. Just regular ol' elevator. I wish the carts were just upstairs so you wouldn't have to get in the elevator, but hey ho! The restaurant is much nicer here than in the old IKEA, it's bright, open and looking out over the parking lot, which as lame a view as that is, is much better than not having any windows like before! Product and customer service wise - it's IKEA, and no change of location will change anything there! read more

Wow... Worst customer service ever. I filled out the online customer service request form, but never ever received a reply, even after weeks had passed. The "customer service" phone line rarely works and frequently drops your call, and/or doesn't even let you into the system to speak to a real person; it just rudely and abruptly disconnects you. Trying to returning a table that was damaged before I even got it has been a complete waste of time, literally hours of my life wasted. Despite the fact that the table has a huge crack running the entire length of it, one rep even tried to tell me that the table was not damaged and that I would need to pay for the shipping return service... very bogus! I chose to return via the "shipping service" where a shipping company comes to your place to pick up your items for return... Very, very conveniently they only tell you when they'll be there only the day prior, and you need to be available for a 4 hour block... seriously who does that in this day and age? Is Ikea running on Cold War era mainframes? The nice extra was that the shipping company was 1 hour late, oopsies... After over 1 week, finally received my refund, but they tastefully decided not to refund the $5 "Picking Fee" (presumably since I used the Click and Collect online feature). It must have covered the damage done to the table before I picked it up, as well as the shipping company being 1 hour late to pick up my return. Thanks for not robbing me completely Ikea - I appreciate the compassion. Don't waste your time here. Such a terrible business absolutely does not deserve your money. We don't get over here much but I always note a few things: 1) The stuff often looks better than I expect 2) The stuff costs more than expected given I have to put it together 3) The physical place is gigantic! 4) A la Costco, we usually walk out with more than what we initially came in for This enormous spot with more furniture than you can shake a stick at and there are more styles than you ever thought possible. Want rustic? Got it! Interested in something modern? Check! How about something that looks like it's from the 80s, that doesn't quite qualify as old-school yet? Absolutely! I'm most surprised with the number of different styles available and the number of them that seem like something that would work. I guess that's why it's IKEA and my house is not... The final section that you walk through is predominantly kitchen utensils, it's amazing how a bottle with The reusable A touch too it always looks better when it's sold off of a pallet with 200 others that are the same. Great place to come whether you're looking for storage items, kitchen items or just an entirely new look for your house. I had a relatively bad experience returning items at Ikea Renton, WA on 10/22/2023. I give this visit 1 star of out 5. I hope my feedback helps Ikea improve it for other customers. 1. I registered for my spot in the return queue using the in-store kiosk. I stated that I had less than 10 items to return with receipts (I had 8.) When I was #2 in the line, I was assigned as the 'next in line' person at Desk 7 (labeled 'Expressed'.) I was the only name on the LED screen that had this special 'Desk 7' assignment. The person being serviced at Desk 7 took 10-15 mins. While I was waiting at Desk 7, three people behind me in the main queue were called by other service desks and got done first. I think it is not fair that I was stuck in this 'mini queue' at Desk 7 while others behind me passed me by. I suspect that this had to do with my having less than 10 items; but I was rather penalized by it. Suggestion to Ikea: there should only be one queue that is served by all the desks in the first-come-first-serve manner. 2. The staff member at Desk 7 found that an item I was returning had been discontinued by Ikea (a $17 Askersund drawer front - 704.250.95.) She said that since the item has been discontinued and it was purchased more than 180 days ago, I might not be able to return it. When I challenged her that Ikea's return policy states nothing about discontinued items (I also double-checked Ikea's Web site,) she immediately pivoted to finding another reason to not take it back. She looked at the packaging and pointed at a loose piece of tape and said that it might have been opened. The product had not been opened; the tape was just loose on one end while the rest of the package, the address label, etc. were intact. When I pointed those other things out, she proceeded to say that I could have taken the product out on one loose end while the rest of the package was intact. She was practically implying that I was lying about a $17 item. I felt completely disheartened but stood my ground. She finally consulted with a supervisor who agreed to take the product back. I didn't care too much about $17, but I pushed back on principle. There was another $72 item that I couldn't return as it had been opened and was past 180 days. I didn't even try to ask for an exception. Suggestion to Ikea: trust your customer's honesty a bit more, especially for an item below a certain price. Also, ensure that staff members adhere to the same published return policy. I understand that Ikea can't easily resell a discontinued item that was returned, but item discontinuation is out of customer's control/knowledge. Ikea promised me on the day I purchased it that I can return it within 365 days unopened. To be surprised 364 days later with a different return policy that seems to be made up on the fly by a staff member is not good customer service. read more

Inventory is wrong! Some things don't have tags that tell you if they're unavailable, you'll know when it's unavailable when you go downstairs and it's not there. Staff needs better training on customer service. Sanitizing hand wipes that are next to the carts were all empty. Drive over 2 hours to buy some new playroom furniture for my daughter and everything we wanted was out so that was a huge let down. IKEA in the Midwest is 1000x better, with inventory, and especially customer service. read more

What to expect: - High traffic hours are literally crazy inside and out. Parking is straight-forward, Park farther and walk. It won't hurt pushing a cart across the parking lot and its safer than braving your way trying to squeeze into a lane or a spot. - In support of the initial point above, please take into consideration that you're dealing with Washington drivers. Take caution while in the parking lot and you're not safe until you hit the freeway. - There are in-house sales going on that are not listed on the Ad or anywhere else. I recommend coming in early and make use of your time properly. - The Cafe, its pretty apparent that the workers hate their life. Yes, I've stared down into the eye of the guy who gave me my plate. Thank goodness that most of the items came pre-cooked/frozen so its a pretty no brainer process... except for the vegetables, ours were soggy. - You can't beat the prices. If you're hating because you're in-line forever or there's too many people then you completely don't have a clue on how Ikea works. Ikea has a system placed to ensure that the consumers go through a certain flow of things with the most minimal assistance possible. Don't expect someone to welcome you and walk you through every exhibit. If you're unable to navigate through ikea and deal with the madness then perhaps you should be better off somewhere. I love shopping at Ikea. They have great ideas for all kinds of stuff, like small rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, well, you get the idea:) The prices are good and the selection is vast. The value for what toy pay is ok, too. The only downside is the cafeteria. When my husband and I wanted to get something to eat, we stood in line for a good 20 minutes but that wasn't the worst part, the worst part was seeing a gal coughing all over the food as she was bringing it to the front counter. Huge parking lot, huge store...but when you walk through the huge front door you stop in your tracks trying to figure out where your suppose to go!?! There's a large doorway on your left..but wait those are cash registers where you check out...so maybe this escalator that's on my right (which happened to be broke down the day I went) but how do you get a shopping cart up an escalator?...woooh look there are big elevators over by this smaller entrance to the right kind of behind the escalator. The fun part about walking though IKEA is to look at the showrooms (upstairs) while picking and choosing what items you like and putting it in your cart...which is all downstairs!! But wait until you get to the cash registers....watch out for the abandoned shopping carts where desperate soles gave up hope. We choose the shortest lane...it was all the way to the left...probably 8 people in front of us...but still half as short as the other lanes....and it still took 25 minutes! Btw..bring your own bag or you end up having to buy an IKEA bag. Now you've paid and swore to yourself you'd never come back here again...and you remember why you love Amazon soooooo much. Then you walk buy the snack bar where all of the chocolate bars and sweet gummies and crackers and cookies are..wth!! I'm not standing in another f#@cking line to buy some delicious goodies!! IKEA is from the minds of geniuses looking at the thought put into just their bookshelves with all the combinations you can mix with shelves, colors and usages. I think my closets have these bookcases installed and they hold my cloths. That said, I have a love hate relationship with IKEA. When I hear about going to IKEA I get the dread of walking around in back and forth maze lost and trapped for at least 2 hours of my life before I can escape. In the maze, there's a oasis of the food court where you can get Swedish meatballs or the kiddie chicken strip meal and rest for a bit before finding how to get our of here. My back is not hurting just thinking about lugging out the boxes and thinking about getting this home where I have to do the assembly. IKEA is my favorite new place for "window shopping". The store is massive, the parking lot crazy, and the goods affordable. This is definitely an ideal location for decorating or remodeling a home. I could literally spend hours wandering around the store before getting tired of it. Employees are friendly and fast. Bathrooms clean. IKEA even offers groceries and a dining area. My favorite IKEA item is the long handled shoehorn. Long, durable, and easy to use for $2. During my visit, I stocked up on for shoehorns for work (occupational therapy) because patients keep stealing them from my place of employment. Best shoehorn ever. read more

Well, what can I say, it's IKEA. The new store is pretty cool but the new restaurant is much nicer than the old one. It's pretty high tech too. All the windows with the natural lighting is nice and I didn't have high expectations but the Swedish Meatballs with mashed potatoes were good but the vegetables were cold. I did like the lingonberry sauce though. I haven't eaten @ IKEA for at least 10 years and it may be 10 years before I eat there again but I wanted to experience the new IKEA and it was worth it. read more

The bistro downstairs as you exit was closed and had sold out signs across a lot of the items. I was really looking forward to their veggie dogs. There were lots of curtains on the rooms, seems like some rooms were under construction. Our wait was 25 minutes in line to pay. I could hear multiple people in front of us complaining. By the time we reached the front, the line had gotten worse than when we first entered it. They need to hire more cashiers, period. read more
