Used to go here much more often. I got slightly disenchanted with some of their food items, which can be old-ish as far as shelf life (I'm really not sure if that is still the case as I haven't checked a food item in some time due to this reason). Used to regularly get coffee here, though, as well as some good wines that might not be available otherwise, such as sangrias. This time we went in looking for a smallish bag; didn't have any luck there but were thrilled to browse the post-holiday sales and got an AMAZING deal on some candlestick holders. In general, had fun browsing. Always adore the Asian-influenced furniture here. So gorgeous. This time there were some beautiful cabinets carved with peacocks. Staff was friendly. Space was a bit crowded but clean and fun to walk around and check out. Parking is usually available for free in the parking lot outside. read more

Customer Service Kudos for World Market - Tukwila & Renton Stores I had never been to a World Market until recently, and I was so pleasantly surprised! My friend purchased the coolest, most comfortable chair, and I picked up a bunch of home décor and wall art that I absolutely love. After I got home, I noticed one item had a few issues. I called the Tukwila store to check if they had another one in stock or if another location might. They looked it up for me and sent me to the Renton store, where I called ahead and asked them to set one aside. When I arrived, not only did they have it ready, but I also found another piece of art I loved. Although it was the last one, they kindly offered to give me the display off the wall! They also exchanged my original item with no hassle at all. Later, I called Robert at the Tukwila location to ask if he could hold another item for me, since I couldn't make it to the store right away and didn't want it to sell out. He was more than willing to help and held it for me for a couple of days--so appreciated! Nick and Alex at the Renton store were also incredibly kind and made my entire transaction easy and pleasant. As someone who works with the public, I know how often people complain--but rarely do they take the time to say, "Good job!" So I just want to say THANK YOU to everyone involved. A first time customer to this store and was quite overwhelmed with a lot of things and with a lot of people walking right next to us every single aisle we walked to! Couldn't really browse nicely, because someone always came hovering over us to look at the same bloody item!! Happens everywhere I go, so no surprise there. But still, it was kind of frustrating... The frickin' checkout line was hecka long, so we didn't buy anything. Saw mostly oldies shopping in there, so maybe not my kind of store after all. Definitely one of my favourite stores to browse around in and find those unique items that I didn't know I needed...but definitely do! World Market is the funky store that has a little bit of everything; very eclectic decor and furniture for the entire home can be found in every corner. They also offer a bunch of kitchenware, trinkets, and food, including a sizable alcohol section. The food section is a great place to find unique snacks for yourself or even as a gift and is definitely the main attraction of store for me. Regardless of what you're looking for (even if it's nothing at all!) World Market has something to love and is sure to encourage you to do a little (or a lot!!) impulse buying! read more

It's probably been YEARS since I've been in a Cost Plus World Market. It's a place that hasn't really been on my mind at all but we decided to pop in and see if they had an entry hall/console table (they didn't). I was so surprised to find how much cute stuff they have in here! This place is like a home decor treasure chest. Wall decor, mirrors, furniture... Honestly you name it, they probably have it! Except for the table I needed, of course. ;) They also have a selection of unique food and drink items as well. We picked up a box of Thai Iced Tea mix (have yet to try it) because we've never seen anything like it before and we don't know how to make it. I'm sure it's easy, but we're white so we're going to try this first... Very cute store and I'm glad I know that now. This store is a unique "trifecta" shopping experience! It's 3 stores in one- Cost Plus; Bed, Bath & Beyond and something (Harmon?) Drugstore. Bizarre! There are no walls separating the "stores", they sort of merge together, yet there is a definite separate area to each one. I felt like I was in the Twlight Zone retail edition! Not sure this concept would work in all areas of the country. Between the 2 of us, we purchased items from the drugstore and Bed, Bath. Sorry, Cost Plus! Had an awesome experience with Doreen at this store. She went way out of her way to procure a replacement part (on warranty even though I am out of that period!) on a favorite piece that I dearly love. It is not available through any of the regular channels and I'm not entirely sure what kinds of hoops she had to jump through for me, but this was exceptional customer service. PS--the studio day bed is an awesome piece of furniture. . . I have now owned one on the west coast and one on the east coast and they are sturdy, comfortable, utilitarian, and super cute. My needing a replacement part was really about my failing and not anything related to the quality of the item--so go get yourself one! read more

I've been here 100's of times over the last 14 years. When I went this week, and went to check-in, my cell was dead and I wondered if I'd written a review yet. No?! Well it's about time! I LOVE Cost Plus! They have the most unique items during any holiday in the year from all over the world. They have a big selection of gorgeous Christmas tree ornaments. I love to get all different kinds of treats, toys and candy from the world over for stocking stuffers for adults and kids. Easter is also a great time to visit for presents, decor items and treats. My fave candy bar in the world is Ritter Sport. Cost Plus is the only retailer I've found in Seattle that carries more than the 1-2 varities you see at Target or elsewhere. For gifts for friends, I like to come in and buy them a dark, white or milk chocolate they haven't heard of that rocks their world. They have a big selection of juices, sodas, teas, bottled waters and coffee. I buy Voss Artesian when I visit. I like to try out the different root beers and sodas like a pomegranate Italian or the blood orange. The snacks are also unique. In addition, they have some "regular" foods like pastas, desserts, breakfast items, and more that you would recognize and things that would be brand new. There's a hot sauce that I can only find here that my boyfriend loves. PLUS! They have jewelry, art prints, home decor, small amounts of furniture that rotates in, stationery, and kitchen items. The store is never the same, even though this is a chain. The variety of things is pretty different at each one. Every time I've visited here and asked for help or interacted with a cashier, they are happy to help me out. This week, someone helped me look for a sangria. In December, three people climbed ladders to bring down from the stock the specific chocolates I wanted for a corporate event. I just left the store I've been shopping at for 15+ years and will never return. I had 2 paper gift cards to use for a tree and woven basket I've been wanting for a while. The lady at the register said "I'm not sure how to redeem these. I've never done these before." Then it looked like she was looking for help but didn't ask. Upset i then told her I would not be purchasing the items there. She said "that was fine then.". 2 employees nearby just chatted away not noticing anything. I was bawling walking out of the store. There aren't many stores where you can buy a loveseat, dinner plates, a set of towels and some Australian imported candy all in one stop. Cost Plus has always fascinated me for this very reason. As someone who has yet to travel to Africa, I can fool my friends and family by buying accessories for my home that prove otherwise. Or India or Mexico, and so on. It's neat if you're looking for unique touches but I hope it doesn't keep people from traveling for paying good money to ship authentic items home while abroad. The selection of food always gets me as well as the accessories. I bought my sister a nifty yellow scarf for Xmas that she wears every single day. OK, so I already know sales people in clothing stores like Banana Republic will call around for you to other locations in the area to see if those other locations have in stock something that they don't have. But I didn't know Cost Plus did that too! Thanks to Jonathan for calling the Bellevue store and having them set aside some of my beloved Ghiradelli Double Chocolate coffee for me to pick up. BTW, sometimes Cost Plus has killer deals on furniture. We bought a birch buffet/wine rack here that has been totally perfect. Also love the snacks section at World Market. I love Cost Plus World Market!!! So many things you want to buy, even if you don't need it. LOL I buy things sometimes just cause I think it's cool and cute, and then wonder where or how I'll use it or put it in my house. One of the things I like the most is the gourmet foods, teas, and coffee. Many of these food items are things I've seen or tried while traveling in Europe, so I'm happy to find them here state-side. Their home decor and furniture is great. Another great thing about shopping here,their staff is a great resource for asking about wines and beers!! Their customer service is great too! We didn't have a coupon with us, but the cashier was able to look it up and gave us our 20% off!! YAY...gotta love that! Besides all that, I could just send hours there, just looking around. Love the variety of items in this store!!! Great greeting cards, bacon hot sauce, wine, art, candles......I could go on & on! The store itself is good size. Nice open layout for the most part. However the food aisles are too close together & if you enjoy browsing specialty food aisles you will feel crowded here by the other shoppers. The staff is super helpful and the selection is expansive. I was able to get a few great & unique bridal shower gifts here. They also can help you arrange basket gift packages if you ask. If it's quiet, staff members will be quick to help but they'll also be quick to reel you into signing up for their rewards program. I went in late one night and at first three different staff members asked me if I wanted to sign up for the rewards program. I politely said I'd sign up when I check out (since I was concentrated on buying gifts) but they kept insisting I sign up on the spot. Finally when I needed assistance, I couldn't find anyone on the floor for about 5 minutes. Small thing but thought I'd mention. read more

I recently went into this location and had such a positive experience. All of the sales associates I interacted with went out of their way to provide great customer service. The first associate that came up to me wanted to make sure that I had their 15% off coupon. When I told him that I didn't, he walked to the front, grabbed one, and came back. Next, I bought an oversized wall clock, but once we got it to the car, we realized it wouldn't fit. Since it was raining outside, Ruben helped us shrink wrap the clock and provided us with some twine to secure it on the top of our car. Not only did he provide the twine, but he also helped tie the knots to make sure it was stable on the car. He didn't have to do this, and we so appreciated his efforts. I love the product range at world market. Where else can u buy lawn furniture, a bath towel, a case of wine and some bizarre Japanese candy? What I'm not keen on is the service at the Tukwila store. I've been there three times in the last month, each time purchasing several carts worth of merch, only to have the checker roll her eyes at me and apologize to the people behind me for making them wait while she rings thru my large order. Ummm, how about getting another checker out of the stock room and opening another lane for the people waiting and instead thanking me for enthusiastically supporting your store with my large purchases? Honestly, your poor coverage is not my fault, so maybe smile the next time i or someone like me comes rolling thru with a big basket of your products. We are spending money. I haven't been to a Cost Plus in years because as much as I love their products, I haven't always had the best customer service experiences with them. However, I went into this store location for the first time and not only did I find everything I needed with some great sale prices, but customer service was surprisingly excellent! Doreen was amazing! She answered all of my questions, advised me of some upcoming store promotions I was unaware of, and was very knowledgeable about their store products as well. Also, their clearance section is a definite must! I got a few bags of high-end chips and candies for less than a dollar. They also have great selections furniture, household goods, and decor! A little on the pricey side but definitely still worth checking out. All in all, 5 stars! read more

Kept seeing this every time I was in the area but was never interested in going in... I mean, it's called "Cost Plus World Market". It sounds like some kind of mattress warehouse, except, well, more worldly? And then came the fateful day. I needed a tea container, and Teavana, for reasons I shall discuss elsewhere, was not my best option. The internet (it knows everything) told me that I should go to World Market as they had tins that were quite affordable. So I went on an expedition. The boyfriend spotted the wine section and within minutes had got a membership and a cart. I, on the other hand, found that rare object: a cast iron teapot that cost less than $20! Are you kidding me? Two of those went in the cart too.... And then we wandered into the food section... So yeah, they have hecka random stuff, some really cool stuff as well. They do mean "world market" -- lots of exotic things you probably don't find too easily. And they have a section of old school candy and chips and things. Found some chocolate covered marzipan, hazelnut flavored KitKat, rice crackers, etc. Their home section reminds me a bit of Pier One, but I haven't really explored that too much... got stuck in the foreign food section. This is a great place to buy hostess gifts (soaps, candles, trinkets, jewelry, tea, kitchen accessories, etc.), plus stuff for Christmas stockings. Good selection of wine, beer, and imported snacks. I've gotten some great serving pieces here. As for furniture, I've been really pleased. A coffee table that we got several years ago for just $200 has held up really well and still looks new. A nice comfy chair for our guest room, some storage pieces for my office--I've found their furniture to strike a good balance between price and quality. This location in particular benefits from tons of parking, and nice employees. There are a lot of good reasons to shop here, and so I'll keep on coming back! read more

Though the costplus in seattle is great this one is my fave because they have ample free parking and their associates seem a little more happy to help you. Its that time of year again and I've been craving sangria and this is the only place i go to get it because you can't beat there price and selection. I love World Market. It's seriously such a cool concept. A great place to find gifts. I mean, where else can you find transportation-themed pasta?! (Yes, I'm serious-plane, train, and automobile pasta.) And if you love coffee and tea, they have a great selection. Who doesn't love Cost Plus? Oh, you don't know what Cost Plus is? Lemme tell ya! Anything you could possibly need/want/dream of to bring into any room in your home....AND into your stomach! One of the things I love the most about Cost Plus is that they are DIFFERENT than other home furnishing stores. It's every detail without the overpriced flaunt of Pottery Barn or the cheap put-together of Ikea. Cost Plus World Market is unique and brings in product by the season. You have to be super careful here though...you go in for a card, and the next thing you know you walk out with 10 amethyst drawer knobs, 4 flats of New York Seltzer Water, grapefruit beer, three types of seasonal dried soup, and Apple Pie liquor. Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year to shop here. There are so many stocking stuffers and gifts....for foodies, for beer lovers, for kitchen junkies, knick-knack adorers. And while you're at it, pick up a new piece of art, or furniture. Cost Plus World Market carries it all....except the kitchen sink, I think. read more

Ugh. My husband and I have been looking for furniture for our new house and it's been months of online and brick and mortar shopping. I found some items which looked like they might work at Cost Plus through their website but it said it wasn't available online. Grr - what's the point of a website then? So I drag my husband to the Southcenter store thinking they would have the best bet for inventory. We arrive and walk the store to find the two items in question so we could measure and make sure it was what we wanted. We head to the front to purchase a entryway table and we are told that they do not have any in stock in 'this' store or in their warehouse but that two nearby stores did (Renton and Tacoma). I asked the sales person to please call Renton to ask if they really had it and if they could hold it since it was showing just one and it was a floor model. She said sure and walked back to her register to call. Then mumbled something about it being the 'wrong' # and then proceeded to ring out about 4 different people; completely ignoring us. I didn't even know what to say as she didn't even acknowledge that she was still helping us or pass us off to someone else. I finally just took matters in my own hand and called the Renton store myself. Only then did she yell at a co-worker to please help us call Renton but what was the point? It was obvious I had already taken care of it. She came over after we were done putting the table on hold and handed us a 10% off coupon that was rudely thrust into my husband's hands and walked away. Horrible service will always override 'cute' products. They need to learn to hire people who are actually happy to be in customer service and know how to handle customers. read more

The store itself is pretty great. No qualms there. My chief complaint is that it was so understacfed on one of the biggest shopping days of the year! My husband and I were in there for tge better part of an hour trying to flag someone down. I feel bad for the ladies working; they are certainly all at the mercy of a poorly written schedule to save a little money. They themselves did a fabulous job and were working very hard, but there were still long lines and people milling about waiting for help! i've decorated my house with an area rug and my entire dining room furniture from here. my jewelry collection consists of many pieces purchased at the bellevue location. two bottles of bubbly in my fridge are from their wine section. they're great for just about any and everything! oh and a note on the tukwila location--i came on a notice that they were having a sale on their furniture; i needed one last bistro chair to complete my dining room set. not only did they go to the back and make absolute sure that not only did they have it in stock but opened the box to check for all included pieces. my favorite part was when the cashier, without mentioning a thing, gives me an extra $25 off! hell yeah!! she just made a lifetime patron outta me. read more
