Going to the restaurant at Ikea is hard to resist while you are there. I mean, it is soooo cheap. But, you definitely get what you pay for. (You could use those rolls by the soup and salad bar as doorstops.) So, don't expect fine dining. But, I will say that if you have kids in your group, it is definitely a cool place to go. They have standard kid fare (mac 'n cheese, chicken fingers 'n fries) so you probably won't hear any complaints there. And they have a nice place for the kids to play while the rest of the group talks or finishes eating. read more

This restaurant is one of the main reasons we come to IKEA, other than of course, the cool stuff! The last few times it has shown a slightly declining quality, maybe a shift in the management. I always loved their chicken meatballs because I'm a non-pork eater, and they recently took it off the menu, leaving me with very little options. As the alternatives have also degraded in quality. The salmon was very fishy and was over cooked, and the chicken tenders were simply unappetizing. OK so I'm a big IKEA fan but every time I go into that place, I've always been freaked out by the fact that they have a dirt cheap cafeteria in there. I finally decided to give it a shot because I was hungry and didn't have a lot of money. I went with their most popular dish..the Swedish meatballs. It was absolutely delicious as well as the mash potatoes it came with. Even the raspberry sauce that you could dip the meatballs in was surprisingly good. But...as good as it is....there is no way I could eat there on regular basis however, it's extremely convenient being that I can spend an entire afternoon wondering around in that place. I thought that Ikea had good food at good prices, but not really. I had their meatballs, mac and cheese and a soda. It was $7.50. I wouldn't really consider that "cheap." The meatballs were okay. The mac and cheese was not so good. I mean it's very plain jane mac and cheese, but I guess that's what you get at Ikea. I also felt sick afterward. Sure, I'll peruse for a few minutes but I'm really there for some Sweedish meatballs. Judge me. You just can't beat those Sweedish prices! LOL. My husband HATES IKEA. So dragging him here is no small feat. When he reluctantly agrees to go, I cannot pass up getting the Swedish meatballs. They are pure comfort. And the lingonberry jam adds that tang that it needs, which makes it even better. The vegetables are okay, usually overcooked and waterlogged. The mashed potatoes are good, nice and creamy. The cinnamon bun is okay, but what's even better is the fro-yo cone. Around Christmas I try to always grab the julmust, it's like a cola drink with some spice to it. Sort of like Dr. Pepper but wayyy better. The prices are the best part. Everything super cheap and satisfying. Getting free coffee as an IKEA family member is always a reason to stop by the Restaurant. Sometimes it's really busy but even then it is generally well-managed, clean, and easy to access. It's nice that since it's a cafeteria-style restaurant the fare & staff are very consistent. Part of IKEA's cafeteria being well managed is that the customers are expected to clear their own tables and sort out the waste from the dishes/trays. This makes it run more efficiently and there are signs posted to let people know. The busier it is, the better/worse it works, depending on how people do this. This restaurant is basically inside the IKEA store, so plan to be tempted toward some serious shopping. This can be a really fun half to full day outing, even with kids. Being able to eat here makes a huge difference, and the food is yummy & it's an easy fit for people with different dietary needs. There are bathrooms that are easily accessible from the restaurant, usually very busy, and fairly clean. There is a lot of variety in the food served, from smoked salmon to fried chicken tenders, soups and salads. Price-wise, there are sometimes specials for adults' meals, and consistently great deals for kids' meals. There are organic juices and baby foods available, too. The meatballs, lingonberries, and mashed potatoes with gravy are a classic meal & delicious- though simple. This is a great place to stop, especially if you're already shopping at IKEA. If you really like the food in the cafe, it's also available in freezers near the check out area. Lots of people like the buy the meatballs, potatoes, and lingonberries (ALL sold in freezers) along to share with friends and family. One last note: you might want to bring a bag- they are not given out at IKEA so if you buy frozen food to take along, you'd have buy a bag to take along or have your own. read more

Good things to know about IKEA Restaurant and Bistro food and offers: Food is good. Line moved quickly. We got two breakfast plates -- one for me, one for my husband -- one coffee, one biscuit. Total: $4.97! I had the "small" breakfast for 99cents; he had the "big" breakfast for $1.99. The small breakfast comes with eggs, bacon, and potatoes. Just add french toast sticks and you have the big breakfast. There are plenty of Frank's Red Hot Sauce bottles at the condiment station for people to take to their tables. Mmmm...love hot sauce. Seriously, the "small" breakfast was too much for me. I ate all my eggs and my bacon, but they must have been a bit heavy handed on the potatoes (not complaining) and I could not finish them. I had to give them to my husband -- who was more than happy to scarf them down. Oh, and I'm the one who opted for the biscuit, but was too full to eat all of it, as well. My family eats here at least 3-4 times a month. The prices cannot be beat. They have raised their prices a bit recently, but they're still cheaper than anyone else. My toddler and I frequent ikea for breakfast. We can both eat for $4!!! That's cheaper than fast food, and you get more food! We also frequent ikea for dinner. They have a special every day, and it's even cheaper with the ikea family card. My favorite is Thursday night chicken for $2! The food is flavorful, unique, and cheap. For some reason I feel the need to get a quick bite here. It always seems to work out for the best. The pros: 1. Plenty of parking at IKEA. It's like their furniture. If it isn't there, it doesn't exist. 2. Easy in, easy out. Just like Lindsey Lohan (doh, too much?). You get in line, pick your food, and you're out. 3. Plenty of simple, healthy options. Surprisingly, they really do have good options for nice healthy bite, ranging from salmon to a simple shrimp salad. I'm really impressed. 4. The prices are actually very good for their choices. There's also plenty of places to sit, a little area of kids to be silly, and their employees are friendly. The cons: 1. The only con is that you're at IKEA! That means you're going to buy something else for your house. Something that might be a cool solution to a storage problem. Also, they have those crazy cinnamon buns. Stop by on our way home from the Georgia aquarium. My dad had never been inside IKEA. He loved me cafeteria concept and even more so the Swedish meatballs. The menu was pretty classic however as a vegetarian I would have liked a little more fresh veggie option, that don't include heave my spices and dairy. Let me first start of by saying that if you are disabled, or have difficulty walking, this store is NOT for you. My impression of IKEA is not what I had hoped for at all. First of all, it's like a maze, impossible to navigate through the store. It took us 15 minutes just to find an exit, and after we followed the signs leading to the parking garage, it took another 10 minutes just to get to the garage. I've never seen such a confusing store layout, then again, it's more like an airport, but at least those are less confusing - if you're in another country!!! I think if you spent 12 hours shopping there, you would STILL not be done. Second of all...I understand after after having to walk around 3 football fields worth of space, one would get hungry. But come one, going to a furniture store just to eat at their restaurant?????? No thanks! I don't care how good the food is, I just prefer eating at a real restaurant. So once we did get there (via 2 escalator rides from the parking garage), we were shopping for a new couch. The selection is poor to say the least. The fabric couches looked so cheap, as if the material was made out of tent fabric, WTH? The prices were not all that low either, $599 for a fabric sofa? I expected this place to have much lower prices. Needless to say, I won't be back. I was looking for nice looking, affordable couches and after going to a few more stores around my house, found a sofa and loveseat combo for $699, can't beat that! read more

Convenient, affordable, and tasty. The atmosphere is a bit lacking, but totally expected. On various trips I've tried the Swedish meatballs and chicken fingers and they are excellent. The fries and mash potatoes are good also. The hot dogs in the bistro are standard fare but the combo price is what makes them so appealing. The chips that come with the combo are sometimes oily or salty. Sometimes the fountain machine isn't set right and the drinks are all foam and no fizz. My wife says the pizza is good. I've been hearing about IKEA's food for a long time now. When my boyfriend and I decided to take a trip to Atlanta this weekend, we decided to have lunch there while we shopped. First off, we split a cinnamon roll for breakfast..... oh man. The IKEA cinnamon rolls are ooey, gooey and delicious! For lunch, I had the chicken fingers and mashed potatoes and my boyfriend had the meatballs, mac and cheese and cranberry relish. The meatballs didn't do it for me, but then again I'm not a big meatball eater. haha. However, the mac and cheese and mashed potatoes were outstanding! Ok, so the idea of eating at a furniture store was a little odd at first but like most things swedish, i came to love it. Breakfast at Ikea is one of the main reasons i get up early when i'm planning on heading down there. i can't think of another place where i can get eggs, bacon , and potatos for $.99. The coffee is always good, you really can't mess up bacon, so what the eggs may not be cracked fresh to order, its $.99, you want fresh eggs, eat at home. Added bonus, you can have dessert with breakfast, thats always delightful. For lunch the meatballs are a great cheap snack while stocking up on modern swedish designed side tables and unusual vases. Thats really all i ever eat there. oh and did i mention desserts. They sometimes have this little chocolatey thing with green stripes, i have no idea what it is but i'll warn you, its an acquired taste but i love it. read more

Overall, Ikea's food is A-okay. Nothing special there. It's just cafeteria food and eh. I don't really understand people's insane love for their meatballs. It's basically just average par frozen meatballs, although the gravy is quite delicious. Anyway, my review for today is on the Thursday Special: Herb Roasted Chicken with Mashed Potatoes and Gravy. SUPERB. Hence, the 5 stars. First of all you can either choose the leg and thigh quarter of the chicken or the wing and breast portion. I personally chose the leg and thigh since I prefer the moistness of dark meat. The portion isn't huge, since the chicken is on the small side, but it is certainable sizeable; the wing and breast portion is significantly larger. Now, the chicken looks true to the picture, nicely roasted and seasoned very well. The herbs give the chicken a extremely savory and delicious taste. The skin is full of flavor and has a nice texture, it is not gummy or slimy at all. Now, I honestly feared that the chicken would be extremely dry due to it being cafeteria food, but no, it was moist and tender. The mashed potatoes, as always, were very delicious with bits of real potato skin that really gave the smooth texture a certain bite. The gravy that was poured over the potatoes was Ikea's signature creamy sauce that is also poured on their infamous meatballs. At first, I thought that this would only be a afternoon snack, but the portion was actually a very nicely size small meal (for a girl, cannot vouch for guys and their monstrous appetites!) BEST PART OF ALL................ this deliciously moist and tender plate of chicken and mashed potatoes set me back $1.99. Yes, $1.99. Amazing. After I got my plate of food, my friends each got their own plate of the amazingly cheap but yummy chicken after sampling my plate. Unbeatable. On the last note, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND coming into Ikea on Thursdays for this amazing deal, however the rest of their food is rather subpar. The 50 cent hot dogs are quite excellent, and the cinnamon rolls are delicious when hot, plus the coffee is quite good, but the food upstairs in the cafeteria dining room is usually average and overpriced, well except for this chicken!!! I am a lover of Ikea products....however I can officially say I am not a lover of their restaurant. We have visited many different Ikeas around the US but never ate at the restaurant. We stopped in to pick up a few things around 6:30pm two Saturdays ago and decided to just grab a quick bite to see what all the hype was about. Many of our friends who live near an Ikea frequently eat at them and go on and on about how delicious and affordable the food is. Well we tried it....affordable? Yes! Delicious?....Definitely not! Waited a long time to order, we ordered two of the meatball meals and a kids chicken tenders and fries with a slice of cheesecake. We had already skimmed the selection and saw that they had no fountain drinks we liked so we just ordered water. Ice maker was empty, condiments utensils and napkins were all empty and all the tables were filthy. The meatball meal had very little taste if any as it was very bland and reminded me of what you would get served at a hospital. My kiddo didn't eat all of the chicken tenders, lucky for me as they were the only thing with taste...and they actually tasted pretty good. The cheesecake had absolutely no taste except for the tart taste from the frozen berries on top....two bites and it went in the garbage. Will not be eating there again....ever! read more

Breakfast, lunch, dinner, you name it. Weds nights are rib night for $8! The food is not exactly first class but you get a lot for very little and its tasty and filling. Stopped here en route from recycling. Thought it would be fund to have genuine Swedish food. My partner and I both had smoked salmon lox with a green salad. The smoked salmon was supported with a lovely honey mustard dill sauce and was delicious. The salmon was so outstanding we ended up buying some from their food area downstairs. The greens were nice and fresh but it would have been nice if we didn't have to share the honey mustard with them. I'd definately do this again! Food is picked up like a cafeteria and begins with dessert - works its way through salads and then to the hot dishes. After getting your food, make your way to the silverware and drinks station before finding yourself a table. This is my second time in Ikea, but the first time using their restaurant. I was a bit apprehensive to enter the restaurant since it seemed as if hordes of people were in there. My boyfriend and I went in there and to my surprise, the line moved fast. I ordered the meatballs combo(comes with mashed potatoes, salad or soup and a drink). The meatballs were great but I'm not a fan of mashed potatoes, but my boyfriend likes them and raved about IKEA's mashed potatoes. My boyfriend had the herb crusted fish with mashed potatoes and vegetables. His food was decent as well. I wasn't too impressed by the cleanliness of the restaurant, as the soup and salad section looked unkept. My total came up to $15, which is comparable to buying food for 2 in a fast food restaurant. IKEA's bistro offers a better deal: 2 hot dogs and drink for 2.50, however, the line in the bistro is LONG and SLOW. I was disappointed that all my IKEA Family Card could get me was free cofee and tea as well as a discount on their chocolate cake. I know this is Atlanta and I should expect good customer service, but Ikea took the cake. When there are lines of people, open up more registers. You have 4 available. Only having 2 open, one being operated by someone new, when you have lines and lines of people is unacceptable. I stood in line for 15 minutes for food and another 10 to get to then register. My cashier left her post to assist the other cashier and left our line for over 5 minutes. When I asked her why my family has to eat cold food now, she told me, that's just the way it is. The IKEA Atlanta Restaurant is temporarily closed for renovation. All indications seem to be pointing at it being closed at least until the end of summer 2018, and maybe longer. These renovations do not seem to be a priority for IKEA. Hopefully, the restaurant will open before the Marietta IKEA opens, and the renovations will improve everything. read more

I really tried to like IKEA restaurant. My FIRST experience was very good during the weekend with friends and we enjoyed shopping and dining. I have eaten there twice since that event. The second visit: Cold meatballs and veggies uninspiring, the third visit: Cold meatballs and uninspiring vegetables again. I have concluded that IKEA after 1:00 is cold and uneventful. So on the third visit what did I notice, OLD food sitting in the steamers and dried up uneventful food just sitting there in the steam trays. Ready for a real kicker? *DRUM-ROLL* : THEY HAVE A MICROWAVE!!! I guess I should have used it to warm my food from the cafeteria line. #FAIL read more
