Oddly enough, despite the scent of cinnabon running rampant through the place, a vegan can usually find something to eat here. Be it Anna's cookies, or a rice pilaf of some sort in the cafe. Is it cheap? Yes. Is it clean? Yes. Is the food good? Paid $5.39 for a breaded white fish, mashed potatoes and mixed veggies and it was decent for a $5.39 lunch. I am a little biased about IKEA because I lived in this store for three days prior to the grand opening and I got a $2000 gift card to spend after winning a contest. Well, it's pretty much what you'll get from a generic cafeteria. Since we went little after the lunch hour chaos, the foods were dry and chicken was ok at best. From looking at the review, the foods are probably better during their peak hour just like any other cafeteria/buffet but I fail to see myself returning during lunch hour to see if the foods are better. If you go to the Ikea restaurant, you've go to try the Swedish meatballs! They're great and you can even purchase frozen ones to cook at home. I also like the coffee and the lingonberry soda. We were driving randomly and my cousin just had a craving for Ikea Swedish Meatballs so we were like what the hell might as well try it out. Its a journey to find parking and you have to take the stairs, escalator, and the elevator to get to the restaurant. Once we finally get there (15 mins once we parked) we order 15 Swedish Meatballs and the mac and cheese. The meatballs were rubbery and the mac and cheese was really dry??? I'm giving them 4 stars because it's a great idea that they do have an eat-in option while you shop at IKEA. Eat there when there's a daily deal and for the novelty of it - the food being as modular as the IKEA furniture itself. The snack bar downstairs has a better deal on Swedish Meatballs though. But have to say that the grocery section downstairs has some pretty good Elderflower Syrup, called Saft Flader - not bad for a $5 plunk down! And the best bit, they have their own free parking. read more

I eat here for the lingonberry sauce! Their Swedish meatballs are good, but obviously frozen. They have delicious mashed potatoes. The prices for a meal are comparable to most cafeteria style eateries. You should join the ikea family club, it is free and will save you a couple of bucks on lunch. read more

I love to eat here. It is more like a fast food place than it is a "bistro" though. The meatballs are awesome and so are there mashed potatos and mac and cheese. I am swedish and so is my dad and he said the food they serve is the type you would get at a restaurant in Sweden so it is authentic. Also, when they have the swedish smorgasbord or buffet be SURE to go. You will never come across such deliciousness in your entire life. Creamed herring and salmon, and an endless supply of meatballs and mashed potatos, mustard and vinegar marinated herring, sausages and more. And most important thing is that the food doesnt stop coming. You can eat to your hearts content and its not some crappy chinese buffet either. It is presented nicely and everything is super duper good. How many times can i say that. I think they only do the smorgasbord twice a year so keep your ears open as to when the next one is. I wanted to discuss here how a situation we had was handled today. Back on October 18th, we came to IKEA to shop for a new cargo bed & mattress. (We ended up purchasing the king-sized BRIMNES with a MYRBACKA latex mattress.) We had lunch in the cafe & used our chip MasterCard to pay. The machine seemed to have trouble but the charge eventually went through. About a week later, I received an email notification that my card was charged twice. I called the 800 number for IKEA & was on hold for 30 minutes. The CSR was very nice but said I would have to go back to the store to get it handled. Today, 10/31, was the first chance we had to come back. We were unsure where to go so we just approached one of the cashiers at the cafe. His name was Jeffrey & he took my receipt & email & said he was going to go take it to his supervisor. He came back & said it would take about five minutes to get it handled & told me to take a chocolate bar on the house. I thanked him & said we were planning to have lunch here & he said, "That's perfect! Go ahead & get your food." We were in line for lunch when I saw the supervisor approaching with my receipt & email - it had only been maybe two or three minutes. She introduced herself as Samantha, shook my hand & apologized that my card had been charged twice. She said she had verified it in their system. She asked me if we just wanted to credit that amount toward our lunch today, & I told her that would be just fine. She asked what we were planning to have & I told her I was getting the Swedish meatballs & a slice of apple cake & my husband was getting the chicken tenders. She then said that they would not charge me for the meatballs or the dessert, & that was a little more than the amount of the credit but they would do it as part of the apology for my inconvenience. I thanked her profusely & I think both she & Jeffrey were extremely professional & went over & above what I felt was necessary in taking care of the double charge. In addition, the food (as always) was delicious. I highly recommend the cafe at IKEA not only for the tasty fare but also because they treat customers extremely well. Go IKEA! read more

The main courses are disgusting. Everything came from the freezer. I have tried the salmon with veggies and thought I could have cooked better than this! The meatballs are ok, but what is that mystery sauce? I'd rather have some spaghetti sauce or marinara sauce on them. I would not go to Ikea to eat a meal. Whether you are looking for a quick bite or a lazy meal, this place is perfect! Swedish deliciousness on the table :) I've been here a bunch of times and always love going back. There's lots of parking and lots of seating so no issues on that front. Its a canteen style service so take your tray, walk down the path picking up what you want or ordering from the service staff and the paying for it all at the counter. Self service extends to getting your own silverware, hot beverages and returning your trays to the rack for clean up. Their food is never below par and their coffee is simply to die for on a late sunday morning brunch. The place is family friendly so you will find a lot of kids around but they are typically so busy eating their happy meals they dont create much of a ruckus. New on their menu is a oxtail dish with rice and veggies and a north atlantic saithe - white fish fillet cooked in crispy bread crumbs served with veggies and baked potato. Be forewarned, a lot of their food, including the meatballs and the baked potato include pork ingredients, so if you do not eat pork then be sure to check if the batch they are serving contains it, and if yes, what options there are for substitutes. They are usually pretty accommodating and will let you have an extra helping of something else instead. They have really nice desserts as well :) read more
