Notice how none of the negative reviews are about anything actually being wrong with the food and are instead just "I didn't like it very much" or "delivery took too long" -- it is safe to eat food from here and that is priceless in the city. Been ordering vegan sandwiches on gluten-free bread from here over the past couple years, and I've been satisfied with everything I've gotten. I love the array of vegan options for sandwich protein (vegan egg, vegan sausage, tofu, tempeh, etc), and options for vegan cheese as well, and while it's a tad more expensive than non-vegan options, it's still pretty reasonable and less than most other places for something similar. They also are generally pretty quick at making my sandwiches when I order online, and it's almost always ready by the time I arrive to pick up my order. My non-vegan boyfriend has also gotten some meat sandwiches from here and has enjoyed them, too. I had a very enjoyable vegan meal here. I ordered takeout on my way to LGA and the food was ready in a flash, leaving me with plenty of time to savor the treats. I started with the Vegan City Boy Breakfast Sandwich and it was very good. The bagel was crisp on the outside, but chewy inside. The toppings paired very well together. My fav place for late night foods. ALWAYS. I come back from work pretty late at night and they're close to my house. Their burgers are always tasty, paninis are good, chicken tenders amazing. Quite good choices to make your salads. My friends also told me they love their vegan choices! They will always serve you with a smile at any hour, and they're fast. I also go there in the morning for iced coffee, and they have quite a choice of creamers and sugars to make it perfect, just the way you want it. It has the atmosphere of your trusty deli. Placed a delivery order from here last weekend because I had some friends over and wow- this place has one of the largest menus I've seen for a sandwich spot! Countless options! They have gluten free substitutes, vegan substitutes, even vegan cheese options. They also have a lot of common side dishes that the kids loved- mozzarella sticks, chicken fingers, fries, etc... You could have ten people over and I guarentee every person will find something on this menu that they can eat. Delivery was super fast too- it stated the time it would be to my house and it was a few minutes early even. The food was awesome too. Prior to discovering this place I would have to eat Burger King's impossible whopper if I wanted to consume vegan food at 2 am but this is has way more options and is way healthier. I went here on a whim after a job trial in Astoria... not new but still very excited about a vegan diet I searched up vegan foods on Google maps and this is what appeared; Although I thought it'd be less than twenty minutes walking distance it was about 23 so I took the train to broadway and to my surprise it was there and open. upon arriving there was a couple ordering food near the sandwich section near the refrigerators .. the woman was looking at drinks and once they finally paid and left I finally made up my mind about what I wanted. Not the hungriest from what I can recall but still missing dinner due to the job I was considering I decided to order a chick pea salad, something I was certain of because I had it in mind on the way, I also ordered their Eden sandwich which is something i don't regret and I'd suggest for a plant based vegan diet because fake meats aren't the way to go if you're trying to lose weight. It had broccoli, carrots, beets!! and if im not mistaken corn haha something else I decided to order was their cookies and crème cake which I thought was Oreo for some reason but for some reason I ordered it because I came across this cute review on here that suggested it and had the best photo. He also mentioned the city boy breakfast sandwich which I can't wait to try!! It's been almost a year this incident happened to me out here. I didn't want to waste another second with this place but here I am writing this. This deli is literally a min from where I live so it has been very convenient for me and my husband until something happened. I bought almost everything I need from here. Spent a lot. One evening I went to buy something which I did, after I got home,I wasn't sure if he gave me the right change,my bad i didn't check because I'm a human and sometimes I make mistake. So I called them and a guy answered and I asked him if he can please check the camera to see if they gave me the right change because I'm not sure. He might have or he might not have as he is human too but trust me I was very nice about it and requested that guy and he was nice enough to say okay doing that. Next day I didn't hear from them so I called back to ask about the same, the guy who answered the call was very disrespectful and tells me(giggling with his friends in the background) I can hear him through the phone. He told me that I was so wasted and I didn't know what I was doing and he laughs at me. He had the audacity to talk to a customer like that. I don't believe in customer is always right but I'm not taking some stranger laughing at me and making up their own story. The only thing he had to let me know is that they have given me the right change,I wasn't rude about it to them,I just requested them to make sure as my bad I didn't check so I don't stand in a position to be rude to them but after being nice and requesting them and they insult you saying I was drunk and I didn't know what I was doing? I came till your store got what I need and left so how can they be telling me that. I was hurt and I told that guy that I'm coming to the store and to show me in the camera where I acted drunk and was messed up as I wasn't gonna take his crap and let him insult me. This guy was so disrespectful when I got there and said he don't care about his job. He doesn't give a shit about me whether I'm a customer or not. All I asked him was can he please show me in the camera where I was drunk and acting up because he obviously listened to somebody else and believed it. He didn't want to and went on saying he don't care about the customers or the business. Now is when he rang the owner who was a nice guy and me and my husband got long with most of them as we went there everyday to buy something or the other. He called the owner and passed the phone to me and before I could even speak a word the owner cursed and yelled at me saying why am I bothering his employee,this guy doesn't even know what happened and he doesn't even know ho he is talking to over the phone so why so rude, he yelled and cursed at me over the phone and hangs up sayin I'm coming right now. I was scared by then cuz even the owner talks like that to a customer without even listening so I called the cops which wasn't necessary but genuinely I was scared the way he spoke to me over the phone and telling me he is coming right now. When the cops arrived that's when he showed me the videos and I told the owner to tell his employees to not say whatever they want,I'm not his friend for him call me drunk and make fun of me infront of others, I've feelings too. They said sorry to me but by then it didn't even seem genuine. All I did was never spent a penny there again. I won't recommend them to anyone around here. A deli with a healthy slant? That's sort of what Ikraveit reminds me of in spite of the semi-odd name. It is neither the fanciest nor the most mind blowing healthy fare by any stretch, but for the soup-salad-sandwich lunch crowd, it'll do. It's not to suggest that *everything* they offer is healthy per se. A big portion of their menu is breakfast driven, but with the greasy options of bacon, cheese, and fries, they also have things like turkey ham, wheat bread, eg whites, and avocado as options to style omelettes, bagels, and the general breakfast sandwich. The vegan section is interesting and mainly comprised of sandwiches with some kind of tofu or veg in them. None of the fake meats will convert any meat eater, i.e. the "Vegan California Chicken" is comprised of tofu, vegan cheese, avocado, cucumbers. A nice healthy sandwich? Sure. One that tastes like chicken? Not in the least bit. I am not sure what to make of the salads, frankly. It's been a gamble with every one I've ordered thus far. Their chopped chicken salad is a deal at $7.99, but in the case of "pay what you get", it's not very much in the grand scheme of things. Their smoothies / juices however, are a better option in my opinion. Anything with beets and acai is a killer combo for sure. I used to come here to knock out a little bit of work while on the go, but it's been more of a delivery option as of late. They have their good and their bad days, which is why, despite their focus on healthy choices is less appealing than me going to an actual deli. read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I made the mistake of giving them a second chance after a previous bad experience and that definitely won't happen again. Here's why: - The order arrived 20 minutes late. - It was delivered by a child. A CHILD. As in, a 12-13 year-old kid. Didn't know that was legal (it's not). - The food arrived cold. My boyfriend ordered a double cheeseburger that was squished and soggy. Fries were soggy. I ordered their vegan burger which tasted like a grossly undercooked beyond burger. I took one bite and threw it out. - Even if the food arrived on time and hot, the quality was akin to high school cafeteria food. Which is not worth the $30 the two burgers and fries cost us. - We contacted Seamless (where we placed the order) and let them know all of the above. After speaking with the restaurant, the Seamless rep let us know that IKraveIt only approved a 50% refund (basically, one of the two burger/fries combos we had an issue with). - My boyfriend called the restaurant to demand a full refund based on all of the above. He was calm and respectful, but the person he spoke with gave him an attitude, raised his voice at him, and told him to contact Seamless--which we'd already done--then HUNG UP on him. - BF then called back and the manager was the one who answered the phone. He finally agreed to a full refund then, but we are still waiting to make sure that money comes through. Don't order from this place if you value your time and the money you work hard for. And it pains me to say that, since it's one of the few places in the neighborhood with an expansive vegan menu. Unfortunately, it's just not worth the hassle and the disrespect. read more

Come in here all the time cuz it's on my corner. Never had a prob in 3 years. This morning I'm with my bf ordering a salad, smoothie, and a bf sandwich. Waiting a long time watching the guy at cashier filling takeout orders, ringing people up, arguing with his neighbor who brought a box that was mis-delivered to his address as to why it was opened, he then proceeded to complain about the package to the other employees, continued to do everything but finish our order, yelled at another employee for something, this employee finally began to ring us up for our order which STILL wasn't ready. I called him out for taking too long. He argued with me saying he was busy. I agreed he had stuff to do but was wasting a lot of time yelling at everyone about everything when he could have been more focused on what he was doing and finishing our smoothie. He told me he was the owner (allegedly) and could do whatever he wanted, these were his employees and he could yell at them all he wants. I told him fine, but that doesn't change the fact that he was taking too long to do a simple task and that he sure felt comfortable yelling at his neighbors and employees about their inadequacies but sure couldn't handle anyone criticizing his work performance. Honestly, if he moved his hands as fast as he runs his mouth we would have been out of there way faster. Continues arguing with me as the line backs up. This has been my go-to weekend deli for the last two and a half years since I live a block away and I'm not always in the mood to do a sit-down brunch or walk to the bagel place on other side of the neighborhood. I usually get a tuna salad wrap or honey maple turkey on a 7-grain hero. Both sandwiches are solid - the bread is usually fresh and the veggies are fine. It's never the best tuna or turkey I've had, but it's consistently passable. The staff are friendly enough, and the prices are reasonable too ($6 or $7). Discovered this place on seamless and as a vegan, I am extremely pleased with their vegan selection. I've had their Seitan Sandwich and Cali Bagel- of the two I highly suggest the Seitan Sandwich. The Seitan Sandwich is so delicious and filling! Sometimes ordering vegan sandwiches can be quite emaciated, but their food is just the opposite. Seriously, if you have a big appetite or are hung over I promise you will feel better after eating this heft sandwich. The Cali Bagel was also pretty good, but a little different than anything I've tried as a native Californian. It consisted of tofu cream cheese, cherry tomatoes, spinach, & jalapenos. It was strange to eat cherry tomatoes on a bagel because they continued to slide out of the bagel and onto my plate. My suggestion would be to add sliced tomatoes, red onion, jalapenos, & avocado (especially if the reference is California you gotta have avocado). The spinach was interesting because it is healthy, but just didn't feel right in a bagel, rather save the spinach for wraps, salads, or juices. Another downside is online they state they are 24 hours (except Sunday), however I've tried ordering breakfast online and they didn't open until 9:30 am. I'm wondering if they were open, but perhaps they have restrictions on the times they deliver? When ordering online also note it will take about 45 minutes to get your order. Regardless, this won't prevent me from ordering here again because I want to try more items on the menu and think Ikraveit has a lot of potential for the vegan community. read more
