I was first introduced to Carla's two years ago and I have been dreaming of both their Hibiscus Margaritas and Grilled Corn Romaine Salad ever since. YES A SALAD! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Happy to say I finally had the opportunity to return for an intimate birthday celebration and everything was just how I remembered it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cute and quaint, with good service and food, a great vibe![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Without a doubt I absolutely ordered the roasted corn salad. It has tomatoes, avocado, roasted corn, Romain lettuce, and an amazing dressing. I added the pan seared chicken. The chicken was super flavorful and juicy, and extremely tender, not overdone. The salad was magical just as I remembered it. In addition the guac was fresh and the Hibiscus Margs was a tasty way to wash it all down. It's amazing how I dream about this salad. It's a good thing I don't live close because I would have no problem factoring in this salad which is a little pricey into an almost daily budget. Lol. Needless to say I will not be reminiscing about this salad for two years again. I will be back sooner than you think. A special thanks to our server, whom was a one man show the whole night. Just A Note: Parking can be a bit of a challenge and Carla's is tiny but mighty and absolutely worth it!!

Have been to this establishment twice and we have enjoyed the food and service. I reccomend this restaurant. [[HIGHLIGHT]]A little gem hidden in the industrial neighborhood.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Carla's for one of my birthday dinner was the perfect place to celebrate. Guac was fresh and we ent through two baskets of chips. Roasted corn salads all around and the star of the night was the pan seared chicken. Shout out the the server who was manning the place solo and let us close out the place. If you haven't hit up Carla's yet, you need to asap. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's such a hidden gem and one of the cutest spots around with the good vibe signs.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I ordered the pescado tacos and they were delicious. The fish was the perfect crispiness. My friend is vegetarian and ordered the vegetarian taco which she said was really good as well! Staff was great. He recommended the vegetarian guacamole and chips and it didn't disappoint. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was very pretty and so aesthetic looking. Perfect vibe for a date.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would come back and try other items on the menu!

Lovely small gem of a restaurant in LIC. Carla's has a very extensive, diverse menu with a little something to satisfy just about any tastebud walking in to try. Decor is inviting and not overly distracting. Staff has been super friendly and knowledgeable the couple of times I've tried them. Pricing is fair and worth it for portions given for their food and cocktails. TLo's fan favorites so far: Sweet Potato Fries, Vietnamese Spring Rolls, and their Fish Tacos. Highly recommend giving this spot a try when in the area. :)

This was an okay spot for a casual dinner with a friend. There is a fun decorated wall by the bar and the decor is overall cute. It's a small space in general, and the tables are quite small. It was a very tight squeeze with two plates for entrees and one appetizer plate. I wouldn't rate it as low as 3/5, but there are some room for improvements here. My friend reported her pulled pork sandwich was dry and some pieces had a burnt taste. I ordered the Buttermilk Crispy Chicken burger. I was surprised by how thin the chicken slices were. There were two different chicken slices in the sandwich, and my friend said it well: they were more like chicken cutlets on bread. Because they were thin they were crispy, yes, but also dry. I did like the coleslaw and sauce though. The dish came with waffle fries, which were okay. I wonder how fresh they were... they definitely didn't taste homemade, and sorry to be picky but they didn't allow for a pretty presentation on the plate. Just a sandwich and a scattered pile of french fries. My friend and I also shared an appetizer of spring rolls which were okay. It's an interesting menu with a lot of different options from different cuisines, which means there is something for everyone!! But also it makes it confusing to the customer what Carla's story is, and the backstory behind their menu selection.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This is such a cute little spot.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Seating is definitely limited, but the decor is really beautiful.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food tasted good, but the portions are on the smaller side. If you're ordering tacos, definitely order 4 instead of 2. I had the chicken tacos and they were flavorful. We also ordered guacamole with chips. They were both fresh tasting. The service was great. Our waiter was constantly checking on us and clearing our dishes, and not in the way that makes you feel rushed. The cocktails are a must. They have so many great options. I had the apple cider mimosa. It was like fall in a champagne glass.

5 Stars!! I visited Carla a few months ago and I'm still thinking about the salad I had here (yes! A salad. It was truly delicious). The tacos were fab as well but the grilled corn on the salad got me. Okay this famous salad I had was the Grilled Corn Romaine. I could go back for it right now for it and have it for breakfast lol. The portion is huge where I was actually full after and if you drink , try the hibiscus margarita it was pretty strong and tasty. This spot is cute. They have in door and outdoor seating but reservations are highly recommended because one minute we were part of just a few tables and the next thing we knew both in door and outdoor were filled. They have a dj. I'm not sure if it's just on Fridays but he was spinning the jams. Shout out to Sam our Queens CM for putting me on to this spot (and the salad). And def stop here and support a local Queens business.

Excellent intimate venue with savory food and outstanding service! Had lunch this week and Josh was handling the entire place on his own. From hosting, serving, bartending, bussing, phones and more. He was great as was the food, ambience and pricing. Will definitely return!

(Overall: 68% | D) - The restaurant is a cute and artsy restaurant with an interesting premise. i tried their crispy chicken burger with sweet potato fries, which was quite nice but small. The chicken was tender and I was impressed by the flavor development of the slaw. However, the burger was very petite sized for a $21 burger, even considering the neighborhood, and I was rubbed the wrong way by an extra $1 charge for additional sriracha mayo without prior notice. Restaurants generally are able to find a balance that suits either low-priced + plentiful amounts or high-priced but with high regard of service, but this establishment was not able to fit either of those two criteria. Came here for happy hour, which is from 4-6pm! Happy hour deals are pretty standard. They have a few margarita cocktails for $9. There's also wine, shots and beer on their happy hour drinks menu. They have a few small plates for happy hour as well. We opted for the shrimp tostada and chips and guacamole to share. My friend and I ordered pescado tacos and al pastor tacos as entrees. Each order of tacos comes with two. I thought the tacos were pricey initially since it was about $12-$15 per order, but they turned out to be pretty worth it because they loaded the tacos. The al pastor tacos were juicy and the pescado taco had a pretty big piece of fried fish with a crisp slaw that complemented it pretty well. I wouldn't recommend ordering the shrimp tostada to share because it was difficult to eat between us. The interior of the restaurant is really hip and cheery. The tropical decor and neon lights make it very welcoming and cool to hang out in. There's also outdoor seating. Overall pleasant experience here and would probs come back for HH.

My favorite was the Birria mulita, which was super crispy and flavorful. It was of course the messiest to eat but it was worth it. The Birria empanada was super unique and crunchy. I actually wanted their combo ($12) taco platter (3 tacos, Rice, Refried beans), but the choices for the tacos were chicken, pork, beef. The other combo that looked interesting was a beef taco, chicken fajita, and something called a sincronizada (ham & cheese pressed between 2 taco shells), & rice & beans. But their iPad system didn't have that (even though the paper menus did). I probably could've just ordered it with the cashier. I got ($13 Total) two tacos, beef tongue & al pastor ($4.50 each) & a side of rice ($3). The portions were very generous, and the first few bites things tasted good but a few more and I noticed that everything lacked flavor. The beef tongue was the best item, there was a salty sear on one side, but the pieces weren't as tender as other restaurants'. Maybe it was frozen and he didn't have time to defrost it? The al Pastor was chopped up meat bits with NO flavor. The pineapple and onions were nicely, finely chopped, but I didn't even finish half of these tacos. The rice had peas, corn, carrots, and string beans & big fluffy grains. At first it was tasty, with maybe hints of bullion and tomatoes; but after a few bites, it started reminding me of cafeteria rice & had a bit too much oil. It seems like a popular place, a mom and her kid came in for tacos after school, local workers and contractors who seem to know the staff and delivery guys, came in for their lunch. Maybe I didn't order the right items, or these type of tacos are more popular on the weekend. I also wonder that since I'm not a local or of the background, there isn't as much care put into my food. One contractor yelled "China! [cheena!]" to the staff as he walked in. Was I supposed to respond "Mexicanos!" LOLZ. I hope they do well though they seem like a neighborhood staple.

I saw a lot of people eating mole with rice & beans, and enchilada-type of hot plates, sizzling pieces of beef too, large bowls of soup. The steam tables are probably the best options for specials of the day - stewed chicken, different kinds of beans, etc. I should point & order next time. They were big on togo orders, but the handful of tables was just enough for a group lunch or intimate dinner. The vibe is a complete departure from their other locations, and one that this part of the neighborhood could have benefited from. While the location and storefront made them different from their stands, so too was the food. It wasn't bad but also was very on par with the sub-NY standard of Mexican fare.
