I was walking around looking for some lunch and stumbled upon this nice corner pub. I would say it is 3-something stars, close to 4. However, I wasn't a fan of the service. When I walked in, there seemed to be just one person trying to care of things, so the wait was a bit longer than ideal. However, a second server eventually appeared. They do have awesome happy hour deals which include drinks and food from Monday through Friday, 11am to 7pm. Overall, it has a good spot to grab a beer, sip a cocktail, and snack on some small bites. I tried the Grilled Chicken Sandwich, and the chicken was juicy. I also like all the peppers and the flavorfulness of the aioli. read more

Easter day, New York City, corner pub, and sitting outside. A lot lines up on a nice afternoon like this. The beer battered codfish appealed to me. As much as a burger and a pub lineup well, for some reason, I went with the crowd fish. The fish was more of a prefab fish rather than something appearing fresh caught. The coleslaw was good, but you got such a small amount that it almost seemed not worth it. The french fries were good, they're on the soggy side, but I know some people like that. May have given an extra star if it wasn't for the hair I found in the fish. Bummer! read more

Brunch food was good, although it was small portions for the price (see photos, those dishes were nearly $20). The food by itself was fine, but...the service was atrocious. There seemed to be one server for the entire restaurant for Saturday brunch hours. While I wanted to sympathize, there were very few diners - my friends and I were one of 3 small tables. My friends and I also noticed a very overt attitude. Any time a guest made a request, we observed her roll her eyes/make a face. One of my friends asked for a coffee, and she said, "are you sure, it will take a long time." My friend thought about it for a second and was about to say never mind, but then asked, "how long do you think it will take?" to which the server replied, "5 minutes. It seemed like she wanted to make up an excuse to avoid making a coffee, which was strange. (It turned out to take more than 20 minutes). Passed by for late brunch (3P) on a Sunday afternoon....we were the only ones there, and it was spotless! Super cute neighborhood bar that serves food. Friendly server, and of course since no one else was there our food was fast and delicious. We went for the DK Brunch Burger with side of sweet potato fries plus side of ranch and the Chicken Sandwich with Old Bay Fries. Both WTH emerges and sandwich were on really soft buns, not too filling, and delicious! The burger was cooked to my preference of medium and the chicken had a yummy flavor and crunch to it. Mimosa was nice to start after a busy afternoon and after that food coma, had some ice coffee. Love the old tiles, flowers and vibes here. read more

My husband and I have passed by this place many times, and we've always been curious. We finally stopped by today for brunch, the service was good and the ambiance was nice, the food was average. I ended up getting the burger and my husband got the wings and breakfast burrito. The wings were a little too bready for us. The burrito and burger were good, but nothing to write home about. At the end when we got our check I noticed the upcharged us, when I pointed it out, it seemed like they were annoyed. Overall, a very good experience. The atmosphere of the bar effectively mixes old-school and modern and the dark wood sets a nice tone. We had a whole crew with us for this dinner and some of what we had was excellent, pretty much everything was at least "very good". The buffalo chicken wings were an excellent appetizer (big, juicy, flavorful wings) and the fried calamari was also very much on point. The salmon burger was definitely good, if bit spectacular, but what was spectacular were the fries. Skinny fries fried just right, couldn't stop eating them. A couple of minor glitches with the service, one person's entree arrived late but, overall, friendly and solid. Nice, pretty low-key place to check out if you are in the LIC area. read more

My friend and I tried this place last weekend to observe the Brazil game and it was a disaster from start to finish. Upon arrival the guy working the door initially stated they had no seats available. My friend and I were looking to get seats at the bar which after my friend went in anyway he discovered 2 in the corner (perfect seats actually). That perfect seating meant nothing with what follows. No one presented a menu or asked about drinks for almost 10 minutes. We were extending grace because everyone was in a celebratory mood but all paying more attention to the game then hosting their patrons. My friend's meal came out first only lacking his condiments. My burger arrived after his food was just about finished and my order of fries came out wrong 3 times. They then assumed that we weren't together because we are of different ethnic backgrounds and while he paid and thought they'd taken off my meal in good will they then chased us down the sidewalk after leaving shouting that we'd not paid. I refused to go back but my friend did so and paid for the meal in full which I would not have done. Their team seemed frazzled, extremely junior and unprofessional for hospitality in NYC. read more

DK Public, a local hangout, has been open for a few months, since around Oct. Formerly in this location was another well-known bar, Dutch Kills Centraal, which closed during the middle of the pandemic. The new owners made some cosmetic changes in the interior, but the space basically looks the same. Inside is a gorgeous, kind of old school but upscale vibe. You'll find the original mosaic tile floors, pendant light fixtures, hand painted murals and lots of wood furniture. The indoor space is large, and they also have some outdoor seating. As for the menu, it's limited right now. They have some lunch offerings and pastries throughout the day. When I visited last week, the owner told me they just got their liquor license and hope to be offering dinner menu soon. After chatting with him, I ended up just getting a cup of Americano and a muffin. The coffee was great; strong and dark. Not sure if they bake the muffin in-house but it sure hit the spot. It was nice and moist and filling. I'll have to plan another visit to try out their food. This under-radar hangout is ideal for those looking for a nice quiet place to work, grab drinks and meet locals. read more

I HOPE Shake Shack comes to Long Island City because there's no way this business should be charging more for a chicken sandwich than Shake Shack.
