    All in Mix and anchovies
    Leo S.

You will find this highly recommended fried seafood stand upon exiting the train station at Monterosso. What seems to be a like short queue with 10 or so people ahead of me, felt like an eternity of waiting. There is one line that takes your order and a separate one for pickup. The rationale for the queue is due to the lack of staff or an efficient system; the same staff that takes your order also has to tend to the end of the food making chain process. Everything is made to order, so your food comes out hot and fresh. Also, there is a signage at the window that advises patrons that there may be a wait and there is nothing they can do to speed up the process, so can't say I didn't get the warning. I ordered what seemed to be the most popular which was the "All in Mix" which comes with fried calamari, oysters, fish, anchovies, etc. and the local anchovies cups. I would say my palette is trained (maybe spoiled). I found the "All in Mix" to be nothing spectacular about and was glad I got a separate cup of local anchovies. The anchovies tasted good and fresh (not fishy nor too salty). If you are on a time crunch to visit other Cinque Terre villages (on a cruise itinerary) like I was, I would not recommend wasting time to queue up here.

This place is on the right once you exit the train on the Monterosso stop. It's a very small shop that's only take away. Once you exit the train onto the street you'll smell the seafood immediately! It was so delicious and there's such an amazing view to eat your food right across the street. Definitely great street food.

Such a good place for some fried seafood to go. The calamari is amazing especially with the tartar sauce. They're closed on Tuesdays, every other day there will be a line and even if it's not too long it will be a wait because they make everything right when you order it. So delicious and hits the spot!

Line up is terrible but the food is totally worth it. It's frozen but they make it right away

The fried food stand of fried seafood in Cinque Terre - this is so so popular here! Right off the train station and head towards the beach and this fried fish stand is right around the corner. You see a bunch of people holding cones of it and you can definitely smell it walking by. We got back from a hike through some of the towns and decided to share the "All In Mix" as a light snack before dinner. Everything is made to order so it comes out hot and fresh. The All In Mix comes with fried anchovies, fried calamari, fried oysters, fried crab, and fried fish. You can get sauces for $0.50. I thought it was just ok.. not a fan of fried things in general but the seafood was fresh. I thought it tasted a bit greasy compared to other places so I'd have to say it was just ok. I tasted the anchovies better at another stand in Riomaggiore. Not my favorite but I can see the appeal. It's salted correctly and fried fresh!

Fish & chips and Fried Mozarella & fries. Delicious and made to order!

Amazing fried food/street food that is made fresh to order! We had the fish and chips (cod) and fried mozarella with French fries. Both were delicious! Excellent location right under the train station, with seating across the street to view the ocean.

So this place is absolutely amazing! We only wanted to get the calamari but ended up getting mozzarella bites and shrimp too. It was the first shrimp we've seen without heads and eyes so we jumped at the opportunity. Love their batter and the fish wasn't fishy at all. Fresh and meaty! Calamari was a bit chewy but it was so fresh it didn't even matter. Mozzarella bites were my favorite. Hot melted cheese everywhere! We got 2 tartar sauces and the spicy Mexicana sauce which is pretty much a salsa. It went well with the mozzarella bites. Also, I got their aloe drink which I haven't seen in the states and it was so good I went back and bought 2 more. Service was great You wait a few minutes but that's because it's made fresh in front of you right when you order. When I came back for more aloe drinks an employee asked me how I liked the food and sincerely thanked us. Honestly I'll be craving this place for a while. My only regret is that we didn't order another round :( So if you're in Monterosso, don't brush this place off especially since it's literally right next to the train station. Grab a little bit of everything and take a stroll by the beach!

Best Calamari ever!!! Simple, lightly battered and salted. Well worth the 7 euros. Fresh and made to order.

As we walked by, we noticed some of their employees inside so we asked if we could make a reservation for dinner for 6pm or 6;30pm. They recommended 6pm and took my name. We arrived promptly at 6pm and were the 2nd table seated. I'm so glad we came early. Over the next few nights we noticed so many people waiting outside all night long. I will tell you that my branzino was amazing. Fresh and cooked perfectly. I really enjoyed my healthy meal and I don't mind deboning a whole fish myself. My daughter had the linguine with clams which was also very delicious. My son had the pesto lasagna which was so-so. We were expecting red sauce bolognese so it could just be that we just had different expectations. He also ordered the steak and enjoyed it. My husband had the fruitti de mare and thought it was just okay. Something to know is that because they are so busy with so many people waiting, they like you to order everything together. We noticed a server who got frustrated with another table who tried to order apps, and then tried to order the main meals after they finished them, then dessert. These employees are hustling and trying to turn tables, as you see the queue outside waiting. It's a tiny cozy restaurant with a lot of demand. I would recommend this place for certain dishes, especially the fresh fish.

Excellent Choice For Dinner…read more.. My wife and I arrived in Monterosso al Mare for the first week of our vacation around Cinque Terre. Where to eat? Our hotel - Villa Steno.....a wonderful place - plotted several recommendations on a map. The first place we tried was Oscar. Our impressions were as follows: Pros: - Most of the seating was on the patio out front which was delightful - We shared the Seafood Salad and Pasta with Seafood. Both were great! The second dish was among the best I've ever tried. - Dark bread accompanying dinner was amazing - A bottle of local Sauvignon Blanc went perfectly with the meal - It seemed the owner or one of the owners served all the customers. She was friendly, efficient and how she did it I'll never know. - Prices were very reasonable for everything we ordered Cons: - Only one: Oscar, like most restaurants in town, opened at 7 PM which was a bit late for us Americans. Both my wife and I heartily suggest trying Oscar.

I was concerned that this place would be a horrible tourist trap but the waiters were friendly, the food was delicious and the place was packed due to its location. I had the seafood pot and it was more seafood than I expected. The clams were smaller but there were lots of them. There were a lot of mussels and also a meaty octupus tentacle. They were all prepared in a great tomato based sauce and came with a toast loaf of bread. It was excellent!!! My wife had the seabass and also enjoyed the meal. The waiters were friendly and not pushy. We really enjoyed the views. Definitely, this was a good dinner location in Monterosso! Enjoy!

We sat outside, which was full of bugs, and waited 2 hours for the main dish. Dinner ran from 7pm to 10pm. Outside seating meant waiters couldn't see our empty table -- we were essentially ignored. The food was the biggest disappointment. Anchovies lacked flavor, fish was bland with no interesting sauce, and the raw fish felt imported -- not local as advertised. This directly contradicts what the Michelin reputation implies. We paid €365 for 4 starters, 2 first dishes, 2 second dishes -- no dessert. Not worth it. I'm not writing this out of revenge. My family doesn't travel often and this trip took significant effort and planning. We wanted a dinner that reflected local Ligurian culture and was worth the price. Miky delivered neither. It is, in our experience, a tourist trap riding on an outdated reputation. Future visitors: please be aware.
