I had the Eggplant Parmigiano and calamari. They were both excellent. Other items our group ordered were pizza, lasagna, the ribeye, and fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. All of the meals were fantastic and the service was great. It's a nicely decorated restaurant that gives you the feel of being in Italy. I will certainly return.

Review #598 None Elite Squad Porto.. when I think of Porto I think of Portos Bakery in Downey which is a home staple for Downey..it's Cuban right ? but wait .. were talking about Porto Restaurant in Maryland.. Italian Restaurant to be exact .. so let's do a 110% honest review. let's start off with today's secret number ..which is 110 1st the food is ok, not great tasting full of flavor but if your hungry it'll taste delicious but it's really just ok. The Scenery and Atmosphere of the restaurant is nice and pleasant ..doesn't feel italianish but it's has a fancy touch to it. The Customer Service is a 110% .. the waiters and staff are Amazing and give Great Customer Service. but here's my problem.. Whey the Hell do they add their own Tip to your Bill? This is Horrible.. I understand they give you great service and they feel that they're entitled to a great Tip.. but adding their own Tip to the bill is 110% Bull.. now, we got separate Bills..now check this out... it was 5 separate bills.. my Tip for example the waiter decided to add $15.. the next Bill and you have to remember..were sitting together.. they added $10.. the next Bill added $16. the next Bill added $13 and the final bill $11.. that's $65 Tip..are you Serious? look, these guys took advantage.. I mean they abused the system to get a $65 tip..and the tipa were coming from 3 15-16 year olds.. and the other 2 were 2 adults with 2 aditional 15 year olds.. i mean.. either the owner is in on this and loves for these guys to Rip off t their community which by the way..the restaurant was empty and I could see why.. here's another thing for kicks ..the restaurant didn't close for another 3 hours ..and these guys locked the front door to prevent new customers from coming in..oh my goodness..wow!!!! yes, 100% true. no .. 110% true. Look, I wouldn't be caught dead coming to this place ever again .. and I wouldn't 110% recommend this place to anyone ..

This restaurant has been around a long time and I never got around to paying it a visit until last night. Decent Italian food with a good variety of pasta, pizza, meat and seafood choices. Many classic Italian standbys. We ordered fried zucchini, a butterflied whole branzino, a sphaghetti carbonara and finished with a salted caramel gelato with biscotti liqueur. Food was of good quality and quantity. Place is really big. Our server is young and a bit inexperienced. But overall we are still pleased and will likely visit again when we crave some pasta.

Lovely outside seating

This was a last minute decision to try out this restaurant. We waited too long for anyone to acknowledge us waiting for a table at another place and called Il Porto to see if they had any seating without a reservation. The person on the phone kindly said no problem, just come. We arrived less than 10 minutes after making the call and we were greeted and seated right away. This was such a contrast to what we experienced earlier at the other place. We chose a table outside on this lovely May evening. Even though we were right across from the parking lot and next to a gym, the outside dining area of Il Porto was serene with potted flowers all around. The furniture and seating were comfortable with umbrellas at every table. We started with fried calamari and the passionfruit spritz from the weekly specials menu. My first sip of the spritz was pretty strong but delicious. The calamari was not spectacular but at least the breading did not fall off as another place I reviewed last week. The dipping sauce had little taste. I rather liked the sauce at the other place which was a sweet chili sauce. Our entrees were sausage with linguine and salmon fillet with veggies and linguine. Substitutions are allowed with a $1 upcharge. We did not get substitutions. The sausage with linguine was also not spectacular. The links were small and the meal itself could have been prepared at home and not a chef-prepared restaurant quality. The salmon was perfectly cooked at medium with a nice searing on the bottom. The vegetables were carrots and broccoli which could have been cut smaller and cooked slightly longer because they were hard to cut down into bite size pieces. Almost all the dishes come with linguine. I feel like that's just a filler food. We ended our long week and meal with desserts of mango mousse cake and tiramisu. The mango mousse cake was from the weekly specials menu and was fine. The tiramisu was the classic cake you're familiar with but the exception of cinnamon sprinkled in with the cocoa powder. I didn't have a problem with the cinnamon but would have preferred it without. Service overall was phenomenal. Every server was kind, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. There was a person who came by our table several times to fill our water glasses. Perhaps he came by too many times because our glasses didn't need filling to the top every time but it was nice to see him come by. My overall rating should have been a 3.5 because the food was just okay but because of the excellent service that I observed and experienced, I didn't have a problem giving it a 4. I sat right by the hostess stand outside and saw that every customer that walked up to the restaurant received a friendly greeting. This is how you welcome your customers.

The food quality was good and there was a very simplistic presentation. The taste were very good and I enjoyed their specialty (Fillet de Pesce).

White pizza with fontina cheese. Wish they cut it the old way. Like Pines of Rome.

Had a craving for some white pizza and chicken cacciatore. Both didn't disappoint! Fried calamari after being air fried to reheat was good too! I only wish they cut the white pizza their old regular way, aka Pines of Rome style. Maybe because this was a carryout order. The side of spaghetti that came with the main dishes was quite good and large portion too! I really enjoyed my cacciatore dish. My brother really liked the chicken doratti dish (reminds me Buca's chicken limone dish). Two winners. The one dish that was flat with no taste was their linguine with clams white sauce. No trace of garlic or white wine taste. Baronessa has the best linguine and clams white sauce over homemade noodles. It's tough writing reviews based on carryout, as all dishes, no matter where, tastes better at the restaurant. For the price and the food that I ate, thumbs up for Il Porto!

We absolutely love Mamma Lena. It's the best Italian restaurant in all of the DMV. Ever since…read morethe review in the Post, it has been almost impossible to not be crowded in any of the weekend nights. To ensure a non crowded time go on a Tuesday just after 5 pm. You get all the attention and can enjoy your food for a while without feeling guilty I taking too much time to savor every single delicious bite. We've tried almost all of the entrees in their menu and the hubbies favorite is the slowly braised short ribs. It's so flavorful. As for me and my friend, we love them all and can't just pick one dish. I do need to do shoutout to all of the different pizzas because, it is always cooked to perfection m, just enough char and the ingredients always stand out. The waiters and the greeters are mostly family and always never fail to welcome you. The bruschetta given at the start of the meal starts you out really good to the excellent food that is to come. And it's great that you're always assured of having at least two pieces per person because just one is definitely not enough. The tomatoes always taste as if it was picked from the summer garden at their peak. I love the fact that they have expanded so that you can now bring a bigger group to dine in.

Taste better than jarred stuff but not as good as other restaurants or homemade stuff. Lots of sauce! Carbonara was ok. One of them was under sauced (basically naked noodles. The other had a ok amount of sauce. One of them weighed a couple oz more than the other, and they both weighed several oz less than the Alfredo (on my cooking scale) All pastas came with side salads. Food was prepared fast. Never been in person .

The food was front and center and the star of the show was the wild mushroom appetizer. I will be coming back for those - mushrooms, artichokes, fig, and goat cheese ... all in a flavorful broth (like how mussels are prepared ) and they leave a piece of bread in the center to soak it all up. Incredible. We also had the salmon, eggplant, and crab ravioli and all the entrees were a home run. Service was immaculate. Every time someone finished a plate - they were right behind us ready to clear. Went back a week later for those mushrooms! Got a pic this time. Chicken was overcooked but a solid healthier option.

Both entrees came with a cold, fresh side salad with a tangy Italian dressing. The entrees were very good. The salmon had a nice char, but was moist and flavorful. If you like salmon with a sauce, you'll be disappointed. I like mine simple, and this is a well-prepared salmon. The shrimp (3 large) were good. The spinach had a nice garlic flavor and the asparagus was well prepared - not mushy. The chicken Marsala also was good. The Marsala was light (not thick) and somewhat sweet. Very good. Honestly, the bread service was pretty disappointing. Our last visit the bread was fine, but this basket was pretty dried out and almost seemed stale. The oil accompanying the bread had almost no cheese in it. Essentially, you dipped tasteless bread into oil. Really disappointing. I'm not going to reduce my overall restaurant score for this one thing (because the entrees were very good), but the bread service was not good. The service was good.

Having traveled and dined across the globe, I did not expect homemade pasta, fresh espresso, and Neapolitan style pizza to be in Rockville MD. If you live within an hour drive, just take the trip and have lunch or dinner here. Try the espresso martini! I shared a cheese pizza with my daughter, my mother had the chicken piccata, my cousin the gnocchi, my father the chicken parm, my cousin had a caprese salad and the further seats I couldn't see. We all shared a few orders of the calamari. EVERYONE raved about how delicious their food was. I agree. Probably the best piccata I've tasted. The pizza was excellent. The tiramisu great. The pistachio gelato was perfect. I sure wish they were closer to Florida!! So good.

The biggest hit for me was the suppli appetizer. These are absolutely delicious and vegetarian friendly! Similar to arancini but somehow even more delicious. These are a must-order. I had the pasta alla vongole and a bite of my husband's chicken parmigiana. Our friend had mushroom ravioli that she loved, but I didn't try as I don't care for mushrooms. I've been on a clams and garlic kick lately for some reason and the vongole comes with these and bonus bacon. I would have preferred the bacon a tad crispier, but that is personal preference. I'd give this dish 4* - I would get it again but after trying some others. From the one bite the chicken parmigiana was a 5*. Their marinara is very good and the linguine in both our dishes tastes freshly made. We all split the chocolate temptation dessert and I ate more of it than I expected to, it is chocolate mousse adjacent cake with ganache frosting, very light, perfectly sweet. Often I find chocolate desserts too much after a big meal but this one wasn't heavy at all. 5* My friend ordered sangria which she thought was more like a wine cooler; too sweet for her French oenophile sensibilities and a bit lighter than a sangria usually is, but I am a pleb who loves sweet drinks and I would order it. If you are a sangria purist you might not care for it. Hubs enjoyed his old fashioned but said it needed a dash more bitters to be perfect. I was driving so enjoyed a non-dirty Shirley. Prices to me are reasonable for quality and portion size; our tab ended up high because of the appetizer, drinks and dessert but if you just had pizza or pasta with soda it would be pretty affordable. I will be back to get more suppli and try other dishes!
