Amazing small town bar and pizza joint. I haven't been here before as it is always packed to the gills whenever I've been in town. Glad I had the chance to stop in tonight for happy hour because it is a tremendous deal. Ordered 6 buffalo wings and a few personal pizzas for me and the girls, and washed it down with some $2.50 Miller Lites. The pizzas were good for the price, I'd be interested to try a larger size to see how they compared to the smaller ones. The crust was really really good and there were bountiful amounts of cheese and toppings. The wings were monstrous and meaty, and I will argue the best buffalo wing sauce I've had in all of MoCo. For $1 a wing, you're foolish not to eat them. Service was fantastic, friendly and what you expect in a small town. Can't wait to go back! read more

Stopped by after golf today. Totally a hole in the wall dive bar and I loved it. There are two parts- bar side and dining side. We ordered food on the dining side, then went over to try a few beers. My favorite part was they they have an extensive draft selection! We had to pick between 4 IPAs. I went with the triple and my friend went with the double. It was really nice to be able to taste them before buying. We had the (curly) cheese fries with bacon and the steak egg rolls. Both tasty bar food. The mozzarella cheddar mix makes them super yummy. The cheesy bacon fries were a favorite. Looking forward to trying the pizza next time we're in the area. Barbie and Maria were delightful and helpful! Tried this place for the first time and it was the worst! The woman who waited on me was nice but abrupt which didn't make sense since she wasn't busy. I ordered the gyro with no feta cheese and curly fries. You guessed it there was feta cheese on it! The lamb meat was stone cold and super grissly. I was a bit nervous to eat it since it didn't seem to be cooked to any proper heat temperature but I was starving. The curly fries were not much better. Cold and limp. Did not even offer ketchup and no napkins (got it to go). When I called to let her know there was feta on my gyro she made a point to blame it in the cook. You never do that. Take responsibility for it, apologize and then tell the customer how you're going to make it right. She wanted me to come back. No, I can't do that on my lunch half hour. Food service this day and age stinks! Never go back ever. read more

Definitely a hole in the wall kind of place. I've only had 2 things from here and I have to say the honey Siracha wings are amazing! Steak and cheese egg rolls aren't too bad and the beer selection is pretty good. There's two sides ; the restaurant and the bar. Don't expect anything fancy from this place. The restaurant is located in a shopping center so there's lots of parking available. Service: attentive and waitress was friendly. before you pay for your meal, check the prices, they will not change the prices on the menu but in the computer system. I would give Cugini's two and a half stars if I could because you never know which Cugini's you're going to get. Example: I once ordered their chicken and broccoli Alfredo for delivery. It was fantastic! Nice and creamy with tender White chicken and the flavor was awesome. I planned on making that my "go to" meal whenever I ordered delivery from them! However, when I ordered it the following week it was like I had ordered delivery from a totally different restaurant. The Pasta was a pathetic dried out mess and for chicken, it appeared that the cook had taken a handful of, fried chicken nuggets and threw them on top! I've had the same problem with just about everything I've ordered from there. One time the pizza will be fantastic and one of the best I've ever had and the next time could be one of the worst I've ever had. tasting completely deferent from the sauce to the crust... the second issue I have is their inability to provide delivery on any kind of a consistent basis. Don't sit around with your family and decide what everyone wants to eat BEFORE you call to find out if they are providing delivery services because you can't count on it. Got carry out on the way to the ferry, and WOW it was bad. The grilled veggie sub was burned - see pic, the bun was black - and the fried pickles were cold. I added a star bc the girl was nice on the phone, and we got a refund for it, but you should not be serving this to your customers. It was inedible. Please get a new cook! read more

We ate on the bar side, Friday evening. The service was quick and the servers were attentive. Unfortunately, the rotating beer menu screen was all the way in the back of the bar - couldn't have sat further away if we'd tried. Would have been helpful to have a QR code to scan off the printed beer menu, as there were numerous changes on the printed menu, but the bartender was very helpful in pointing out what wasn't available and what the alternatives were. The food was served pretty quickly, and it was excellent- steak & cheese sub with sweet potato waffle fries (possibly the best I've ever had- and I've eaten a lot of them) and a personal pizza. Everything was fresh, hot and delicious. Will definitely return next time we're in Poolesville. PS: the bar has a very neighborhood vibe- we kept expecting people to yell "Norm!" as people arrived and greeted friends. Great spot for dinner and a beer. read more

I had a very interesting experience at this restaurant. I was in town for a friends funeral and came here to meet his son. It seemed like a nice place upon entry but while we were here my brother and I were turned away from the bar because we had out of state licenses and the owner (barbie) didn't know us despite the fact we had multiple forms of identification. The quality of the pizza is pretty low, after the first bite I could tell they use only premade/ canned ingredients. The crust had a good texture but was flavorless, the sauce to cheese ratio was WAY off, the sauce tasted weird and was over seasoned with oregano. I'd recommend any fast food pizza (to include chuck-e-cheese) over this place. read more

Cugini's was much better than I expected. On our way to Markoff's Haunted Forest, we stopped here for some pre-scare fueling up. The zucchini sticks were obviously frozen but delicious. The double decker cheese bread (kinda like they just took a pizza without sauce and folded it over itself) for $5 was definitely necessary. Last but not least, the pizza was actually pretty tasty. They also serve a variety of subs, specialty pizzas, beer and wine for super-reasonable prices. Their deals on Mondays, Tuesdays (pizza comes with 10 free wings) and Wednesdays definitely also seem worth checking out. If you're in the area, definitely check out Cugini's. My guess is it's probably the best cheap meal you'll find in the area. read more

To say that Cugini's Authentic Italian Cuisine is "Authentic" is a bit of a stretch. It's a pizza and sub shop in a strip mall that has two things going for it: they serve beer and make fresh pizza. The rest is so-so. I'm not sure where their meatballs come from but are definitely not made from scratch. I asked. As for the rest of the items on the menu, you're on your own. One can't move to Poolesville without encountering Cugini's Pizza. Relatively new to town, and needing to feed my family of four in a "zipless" manner on relatively short notice, I called to order a pizza for pick-up. Half the family wanted pepperoni. The other half wanted meatballs. I asked the girl who picked up the phone if ordering a "half this, half that" pizza was considered one or two toppings for billing purposes. She said she wasn't positive, but it seemed to her that this ought to be considered a single topping (which in fact it should have been). I went to pick up the "Giant" pizza with one of my tween kids in tow, and mentioned to the girl (whom I believe was the very one who took my call) that it seems that I was charged for two toppings, contrary to what she told me when I called. She replied simply that "this is how it rung up." No further explanation was offered. Not wanting to make a small scene in front of the kid, I paid up and walked out shaking my head. I really hate situations like this, and do not understand it (them?) from a business perspective. Yeah, you got two bucks out of my pocket for nothing. But you can bet your a** that I'm going to check out Kristopher's pizza next time. The funny thing is that the moronically up-charged pie from Cugini's was actually better than I had expected. This was our first visit to this little gem, in a hard-to-see strip mall. My wife had the chicken parmesan sub, my daughter had a hot dog, and I had the extremely overstuffed grand slam. All three were excellent, with the sub rolls being just the perfect combination of crunch and chewiness. The hot dog was perfectly grilled, and very tastily served on a U-shaped piece of garlic toast. Really hard to beat this, for quality. read more

I give this place 3 stars (4 for the bar, 2 for the food). The bar has a huge selection of beers and is pretty good with service. Prices are reasonable and they do tasting nights as well. The food is 'hit-or-miss'. I live in town and have been frequenting the place for years. The food is better since the new owner took over, but the cooks seem to have trouble concentrating and sporadically burn a lot of stuff (see pic under tips. Issue seems to be with their toasted buns as I don't see this happen too often with their pizzas. They'll remake it if you complain and have the time. read more

Cugino's has great pizza and a nice selection of craft beer. I can't comment on anything else on the menu because I haven't tried anything else. And really, I don't have a desire to. I mean, if you have good pizza and good beer, why would I want to get anything else? Other points: Staff is usually friendly and attentive. The place has been clean (or at least tidy) the couple of times I've been there. Prices are reasonable. So why not five stars? I have to knock off half a star because of the pool table. My buddy and I sometimes come in and shoot a game. The table is old and worn out. I'm talking, old enough that it was probably used by Fred Flintstone at one of his Water Buffalo lodge meetings. Come on, guys. Spring for a new table. Or a nice, slightly used one. The other half a star is for that paper they put under the pizza in the takeout boxes. By the time I get the pizza home (about thirty seconds 'cause I live a quarter mile away), the cheese has attached to the paper like cement. I have to literally scrape it off the paper. I understand the paper is there to keep the grease from soaking through, but I think there's probably a better solution (foil? extra layer of cardboard?) We love Cugini's. Their pizza is delicious, they have some great subs, and since the ownership changed, there are constant premises, menu, and bar improvements. Speaking of their bar, they do a great job of getting rotating, local handles, do regular tastings, and have a great happy hour. I have been all over Montgomery County looking for that perfect pizza, the one that takes me back to when I was a kid and I lived for Saturday night - Pizza Night. I've found some that were close, but none as good as this place. To me it all comes down to crust, and theirs has just the right amount of crunchy outside and chewy inside. The sauce is sweet and addicting. The toppings are fresh and plentiful. I'm no food critic but I like their pizza best, hands down. To be honest I haven't been in the bar area, and since I live 45 minutes away I don't get delivery, so I can't speak to those topics. The dining area is spartan, the service is polite if a bit slow. I also tried the buffalo wings, which are unique, not the best I've had but not too bad either. But I don't go there for the wings. Overall I recommend. read more

Ordered a XL sausage pepperoni pizza for pick up. Said it would take 15 minutes. I waited about 20 minutes at home then drove to pick the pizza up. We payed then had to wait about 50 minutes for 1 pizza. But the whole restaurant was empty. Nice staff though, and good pizza. read more
