This restaurant was our favorite. We liked it so much we went for both lunch and dinner. Not only is the owner a gem of a person but he was so attentive and informative about the food. He is also the cook. The food is as about as fresh as you can get and the complexity of flavors makes every bite memorable. The atmosphere has ambiance and you can see the water from the restaurant. I recommend the beef steak and the baba for dessert! This is a MUST eat.

My boyfriend and I came to Il Principe e La Civetta to celebrate our anniversary, and I'm so pleased that we did. Not only were the food and service incredible, but the ambience was very intimate and romantic as well. We ordered two pasta dishes for dinner; gnocchi with roasted vegetables and pacchero with ragù. Though they sound like simple and mundane dishes, they tasted incredibly fresh and had many complex layers of flavor. For dessert, we had the most delicious tiramisù we've ever had throughout our travels to Italy. I highly recommend Il Principe e La Civetta for special occasions, or even date night.

This place is amazing. The anchovies home made pasta. Not to mention the momma who talks to everyone. Please keep this a secret

This restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel and while I did read the Yelp reviews, they were…read moreof older date so I gave it the benefit of doubt and said ok let's give it another try perhaps they are different. The restaurant was tucked away inside a busy street in vietri sul mare, either call this town the end/beginning of the amalfi coast. Very beautiful hidden local town. The streets are filled with ceramic shops everywhere! So the ambience was really exquisite. The service was not good. First, we ordered a wine from the wine menu and the staff tried and sell us their Evu branded wine! Luckily we were able to taste it before they opened it and I did not like it. But I did witness two other tables where they gave them their Evu wine! How horrible! Such a scam. Be careful here when you are ordering wine and make sure you remember the name of the wine you ordered OR else they will give you their branded wine, which I am certain there is a better margin! For starters we ordered the 6 tastings, which had fried zucchini flower, eggplant parm, octopus salad and a few other fried fritters. For primi, we shared pasta with gamberoni and sautéed clams and mussels. Followed by a mixed seafood dish of tuna, swordfish and 1 shrimp and calamari. Overall, the food was decent, nothing spectacular. If they were not being deceptive with their wines, perhaps I would've liked this restaurant more.

This place is a huge ripoff. We ordered their popular sampler plate (it was good but not great) for…read more€15, a dessert for €3, two drinks for €3 each, and two drinks for €4 each. That's a total of €32. We got a bill for €43, which included a €9 cover charge and €2 for tap water. Obviously would never go there again or recommend it.

Stomach growling as I was walking down Viale Pasitea (the main thoroughfare in town), multiple good options caught my eye. After some Gmaps searching (sorry Yelp, again limited and some outdated data in Europe!) their beautiful IG-able interior + stellar reviews cinched the decision for me. It's both a restaurant and retail store--the latter carries local ceramics, kitchenware and home decor, many with botanical designs--capturing that quintessential coastal vibe--colors back to white. The former takes up the remaining three-quarters of the white-washed space with about two dozen tables seating about 40-50 people. Live vines hang from parts of the ceiling, pendant lighting fixtures printed with leaf patterns echo the botanical theme from the retail displays. The aesthetic rounds out with tiled floors, light wood furniture, and pillowed banquette seating mixed with individual tables, tying in designs from the home goods store. Food is new Italian--they do carry some traditional dishes though they also have a modern Mediterranean section of the menu that adds non-traditional ingredients or techniques. They also serve a variety of cocktails, fresh-squeezed or blended juices and smoothies, and coffee drinks. Lunch with an entree and drink will run you about €35-40, which is on the higher side though par for the course compared to other similar restaurants along the Amalfi Coast. I ordered the traditional fagioli cannellini, scarola, capperi, olive e calamari gratinati €26 (cannellini beans, escarole, capers, olives and gratinated calamari). This was creamy and tasty even though it had no cheese or cream, the calamari was cooked well, just tender enough, and coated with light breadcrumbs, which I appreciated as it was baked and not deep-fried. Having minimal familiarity with dish, I can only say I thought it was outstanding, good textural contrast, not too salty. Staff was the right amount of attentive without being overbearing, and though their English was limited, they strove to answer my questions on ingredients in a few of the dishes. The restaurant was pretty busy during lunch, but I never felt rushed. Loved the atmosphere and food here, would certainly recommend!
