Food is great. Service is great. But it seems to be a haven for screaming, loud, misbehaving kids and oblivious parents.. Maybe this is Sheboygan's version of Chuckie Cheese. After dropping almost $200 on pizza, drinks and good service - I have to say -- the family atmosphere of Il Ritrovo has made me decide to entertain at home where the noise level allows for conversation. We truly could not hear to converse with tables of loud kids on all sides of us. Love this place! We only go a few times a year as our go to. Went on a Wednesday early evening with tables already filled when we got there. Still we were seated immediately. Our waiter was very attentive and engaging. We started an appetizer -prosciutto e bufala which is fantastic! My husband I shared a Pizza alla Pepe -4 large slices that was rich with cheese had a light crispy crust. Had to take tiramisu to go and was delighted to get home and see the generous amount our waiter boxed up for us. This place is the best! Whenever I'm in town to visit family I make sure we stop here for a meal. The pizza is fantastic! We always get one of the specials and have never been disappointed. My favorite is the sausage and mushroom--classic for a reason. We have also had soup, salad, and pasta over the years--all excellent, though I think the food is better in the summer when the veggies are local and fresh. I love the service here because the wait staff is very knowledgeable. Finally, I highly recommend walking through the restaurant to the store where they sell cookies and bars. We've had the marzipan cookie, the coconut cookie, peanut butter bars and thin cookies and they are exceptional. Overall the best food for miles. read more

This restaurant could stand on its own in any major metro area. The quality of ingredients and preparation rarely misses the mark, and the service is top notch. They keep the menu fairly limited and make sure they do each item very well - Smart restaurant and the customers benefit. Good beer and wine selection and outstanding pizza. If that isn't enough their daily specials make the best of local available ingredients. Hard to miss with the fish dishes. Don't expect a pasta and red sauce place. This ain't it. I can't say enough great things about my experience yesterday! Our server was confident in describing the many specials. The timing of each course was perfect. Drinks came fast, water was poured, questions were answered. Everything I want in a great server, I had. The food was memorable. Calamari was the best I have ever had (and I worked at a seafood restaurant).... Pizzas were just as fantastic as everyone has told me. I've had good and bad experiences here. They have some amazing menu items. The fonduta is so tasty! They have a great wine selection. The service and other customers can feel a bit stuffy at times (for pizza?). Some things can also be a bit pricey (again, for pizza?) Finally, it seems to get quite noisy in there during busy times. The pizzas are AWESOME and the specials are usually really good, too. I just wish the menu was a little more diverse. If they served pasta dishes, I'd eat here a lot more. The atmosphere is also challenging. It's so loud in the restaurant that it's really hard to hear the people you're dining with. Have been coming here for years, and each time the pizzas get a bit worse. The owner's cutting corners on the ingredients. The cheese this time was definitely the deal breaker. I don't know where the "buffala mozzarella" is coming from, maybe Akron, Ohio, but it sure isn't the same stuff he was putting on his pizzas a year or two ago. The cheese had the texture of white american cheese and tasted like it as well. I had 9 pieces of mushroom and 7 pieces of sausage. After about half the pizza, the sensation of salt is overwhelming. The crusts of all of our pizzas was soggy. All this for about $16. For the price you pay for these pizzas, you expect better ingredients and a bit more toppings. People in Sheboygan don't know any better than, say, Fayes pizza, so they keep going back to this place thinking it's elite. It's OK pizza at best. It's basically "real Italian pizza" for people who get excited about the soup at Panera. If that's you, you'll give this place 5 stars. If you've traveled around and have been to Italy, you'll be disappointed. If you got a wood fired pizza in Italy and it was this soggy and salty, the guy cooking it would be ashamed. These pizzas to be much better but over the years they've slipped bit by bit Owner should start eating his own food maybe!!! Stopped in for lunch on a Friday. The food was top notch, but the service is what prompts my review- we were waited on by Alex, who was beyond friendly and immediately offered menu suggestions- all of which we took, and all of which we were delighted with. I don't know if this guy loves his job but he certainly gives that impression, which really makes the whole experience more enjoyable. A gem in Sheboygan for sure! Ok, so the caprese salad was by far the best caprese I have ever had, and I LOVE caprese! However after all the reviews I was expecting the pizza to be amazing, it was just ok. I got the funghi (mushrooms, mozzarella and marinara sauce) unfortunately the crust was soggy, the sauce had no depth of flavor and the mushrooms tasted canned. It was overly salty and that's it. I redeemed it by adding chili flake so my mouth had a lil spark of flavor and it covered up the salt. The wine, the salad and the fresh bread with Olive oil and balsamic vinegar were excellent, but the pizza I would not order again. Sad, because it got so many great reviews, I was just disappointed. Our server, David, was on the ball and made great recommendations which he sold with what has to be years of experience coupled with genuine passion for for the food he stands behind. We had the special eggplant pizza and the bruschetta after starting with some house red, all fantastic. Only reason this place doesn't score a solid 5 is the setting, the space could have previously been a subway or some other strip mall like restaurant where everyone sits basically on top of each other however they clearly made significant efforts with the interior decor to mitigate these unfortunate drawbacks. They could also tweak the lighting at the dinner peak, could also help. Either way, loved it here, will definitely be back. read more

My boyfriend and I shared a salad and the pizza and it was more than enough for the two of us. We visited after a day at Road America. We had a party of 7 trying to get a table at 8pm on a Friday night. The service was slow both at the bar and trying to order. Our food did arrive fairly quickly. The only serious complaint was the noise level. Our server literally had to yell over the noise to tell us the specials. Other than the noise...this place is AWESOME!!! Some of the best pizza I've ever had. I was in Sheboygan and based on the reviews online, I decided to eat here. I had a specialty pizza with sausage, carmelized onions, and red pepper. It was magnificent. Attached to the restaurant is a nice little Italian store where you can find at least 10 different types of olive oil. Who could ever dispute the flavors of this authentic Italian pizza. The salad incredible! Tomatoes taste like they were just picked from a garden. The flavors from the food are like no other. My only issue is the small tables are too close. I don't like sharing my dining experience with strangers but I get space is at a premium. I have friends born in Italy that I have hosted here and they were amazed by the authenticity of the food. It reminded them of home. I love the soups so hearty and full of flavor. Il Ritrovo - Great food - Pizza Near Me - Sheboygan, Wisconsin

This is about as close to real Italian pizza as it gets. In contrast to the over-sauced and over-cheesed pizzas you find 99.9% everywhere, Ritrovo cooks a classic Naples style pizza. Using a very hot wood-fired oven, the pizzas are quickly cooked (2-3 minutes) to a perfect thin crust. Rather than dump gobs of tomato sauce and shredded mozzarella cheese on a thick crust, tomato sauce and cheese (buffala mozzarella an option - fantastic!) are used as complements to the crust - it does not overpower your palate. The various pizza offerings on the menu are quite varied and it's worth trying each one to determine a favorite, as are the toppings available. I also had a very good bowl of minestrone - lots of fresh vegetables in a thickish broth; the salads were very good as well, particularly using finocchio (fennel) which gives a vary nice licorice kick. The wait staff was pleasant and quick; the companion specialty store has some interesting Italian foods, although paying $2.99 for DiCecco is really steep. This is the only 5-star review I have written on Yelp. Considering that I found this gem in Sheboygen frankly bogles the mind. Ritrovo would be a stand-out on Arthur Avenue, Bronx NY (which is the REAL Little Italy in New York City) which has some fabulous, authentic Italian restaurants. Gluten Free Pizza Read all of the reviews, this place is as amazing as the reviews say but one of the things all of the reviews miss is this place offers gluten free pizza, and it is amazing. The crust was thin and airy and was absolutely amazing. This was done in the wood fire oven as well. I ate here twice, once by myself and once with a group. The service was amazing both times, and the food was awesome as well. I highly recommend this place to all of my friends and also anyone going to Sheboygan as well. 5 stars read more
