We chose 10 Acres on our first night in Victoria base on good reviews, and the experience was so overwhelmingly good we had to go back again on our second night. I'm so glad we did, because the duck risotto has sold out the night before, and it was possibly the best duck I've had in my life. My wife is vegetarian and she had great options for both nights as well. Our servers were fun and attentive, and the restaurant is located right downtown in a great area. The only negative was on our first night. There was quite a windstorm going on, and the front windows, which open out in good weather, were slightly drafty. However, the quality of the service and the food completely cancelled out that minor annoyance. read more

Came here for dinner on a Saturday night. Food was honestly incredible. Ordered the focaccia, oysters, and farm tomatoes for appetizers, and the bolognese for dinner. I would absolutely recommend these dishes - the tomatoes were super fresh, focaccia perfectly baked. The bolognese was also great, with homemade pasta complimented by a unusually flavorful meat sauce. My only issue is that the service could've been better. There were times when I felt like we were waiting for unusually long amounts of time for various things. If you go on a busy night, be prepared to sit for a while. One of the best meals I have ever had. Came here with my mother last week while in Victoria. Everything is locally sourced an amazing. We shared the salmon, tuna nicoise, and beet salad and loved every bite. I also had the Swift Hazy IPA I really enjoyed too and I noticed the beer glass logo looks like the Taylorgate merch from Toronto and went to the brewery to try some more of their beers at the brewery a couple days later. The ambiance was very nice and quite full but didn't seem too loud or formal. Our waitress was amazing too. We still had room dessert and shared a yummy slice of pecan pie. This place is NOT family friendly. No child menu or high chairs. The children had a burger, the fries were cold and a very tiny portion, the hamburger was rotten and smelly. The kids did not eat it. The Caesar salad was terrible, brown lettuce and fishy smelling dressing with burned capers, very tiny added chicken portion. Went to have dinner with puppers in tow( and asked if it was ok to have her with us in the patio area. We were told absolutely was ok and it might be a 10-15 min wait. The batter was a bit thicker than I was expecting but it was also tasty and with the crunch it gave made it an enjoyable bite. There was a slight heat but not enough to kill you(I haven't had real hot chicken yet so don't hate on this.. I'm sure this is to be more palatable to the tourists and locals) def an enjoyable dish if you were to order this imo. The lasagna is a beef and pork mixture and was delicious. Crispy baked cheese edges on top, creamy interior with perfectly cooked pasta sheets in between. Every bite was delectable to the last bite. I also sopped up every last bit of tomato sauce with my garlic bread. Our water was refilled when needed and our server attended to us and checked in on its to make sure we were good. Our lily stayed quiet and beside me wandering under the table between myself and wifey until we were finished our meal. Overall experience was excellent with the ambiance of the outdoor patio heated with a gas cauldron, surrounded by the pleasant night air and sounds from the interior of the establishment was relaxing and nice. Had dinner here with my mom last night. We're visiting from the US (California,) and got some recommendations from a local, 10 Acres being one of them. The food was fantastic-- fresh and delicious. We shared bruschetta as an appetizer and both had the gnocchi as our entree. We also shared the chocolate cake for dessert. As a farm to table restaurant we expected the produce especially to be great, but truly-- I will be dreaming of those tomatoes and the chocolate cake (with incredible berry sauce) for a while. I ordered a half chicken and it tasted worse than something from the local market. The skin had no flavor other than burnt flour. The gravy was very salty and lumpy. I'm sure some of it burnt on the chicken. The Brussels sprouts were doused in oily when fried, and what should've been crispy was oily and soggy. The potatoes blended into the lumps of gravy... tasteless. The chicken was undercooked and noticeably pink and slimy. Some parts were over cooked and dissolved like powder in the mouth. The duck confit salad wasn't what we expected (it wasn't a "salad" in the way we thought it would be, more duck with some greens on the side). The seafood cannelloni was good. After having some nice drinks and yummy desserts the night before, I wrote a review that included my desire to return to sample some of the farm to fork options on the menu. The hubs and I did just that! We came back the following night. Much to our dismay and extreme disappointment. While we were seated right away, we had no service-- no one -- for at least 20 minutes (unfortunately we timed it). No water, no drinks, no bread, no anyone or anything. Realizing service was obv a challenge, we swiftly landed on our order splitting a bowl of French onion soup and a Cesar salad. You know- stuff that shouldn't take too long to prepare. We asked Colton to space out the soup and salad as that order, was our entire meal. The flavorless soup was a total surprise- it looked good coming out of the kitchen. In addition other Yelp reviews seemed to boast about it. I have plenty of other onion soups to compare to, including onion soup in Paris. The Cesar was suitable to split and (I felt) had a nice anchovy- based creamy dressing. Maybe a little too much but tasty. I like a little extra parmesan cheese. I asked for it but didn't received until i I was 2/3 done with my salad. Seriously?! What takes so long to get grated cheese? Maybe it was my blood sugar had dipped and I was so hungry I just gobbled up my salad. Whatever. This dining adventure, in total took 2 hours. Colton miss understood a well-paced meal and a frustrating dining experience. Oh wait?!! The kicker?? Take a look at the recent. The egg was cooked perfectly, the English muffin was what you'd expect, and the Canadian bacon was fine. The downfall was the Hollandaise. Instead of the smooth, buttery balance you look for, it was completely overwhelmed by lemon--so much so that it felt like I might as well have just squeezed citrus straight over the egg. The ambience is incredible! It feels like you're sitting in a little garden patio! It's bright with plants, LOVE it! We did drinks and appetizers! My drink was pink from beet root and so delicious, I crave it still! Not to sweet but refreshing and fresh! The beet salad was my favorite! It was warm!! Which I have never had before but the tangy creamy sauce on the bottom with the sweet beet and small bite from arugula...AMAZING! Cauliflower gratin was delicious! Love love love this spot!! We've visited Victoria twice and now and made sure to come here both times. The indoor/covered patio setting is LOVELY, it's so cozy and inviting and we never get tired of looking up at the hanging vines and pretty lights while we're there! Also love that they have heaters overhead. The service is always polite, brief but totally pleasant. Such a welcoming energy. You get a great amount of food for what you pay, and you can tell everything is of super high quality here, and presented thoughtfully and aesthetically. This place has my FAVORITE eggs benny, ever!! We ordered: French Onion Soup - very good and loved that there was bacon in this as well! Clams and Mussels - good portion and overall some of the best we'd had in a while! Spaghetti Bolognese - pasta was nice and fresh with great flavor and not too heavy! I ordered a delicious Shaft, a must have in Vic if you ever go, you can find them at most restaurants/bars. My mom and I shared all three plates - the seafood tagliatelle, fried chicken and beef carpaccio. In order the best was the tagliatelle - great flavour and packed with seafood. Almost like a pesto cream sauce. Great portion size on this one and all the seafood was cooked perfectly. Second best was the beef carpaccio, tender slices of beef and good portion size for two! The least fave of mine was the fried chicken. Now I am a fried chicken connoisseur of sorts and eat it all the time. This chicken, because it was breast meat, needed something for dipping, like an aioli or even a spicy honey mustard or mikes hot honey. Something to jazz it up. The crunch factor was real but If you're gonna do fried chicken that isn't heavily seasoned, you gotta have something to dippy dippy! The farm salad was wonderful and the half chicken. The drinks were well crafted and tasted wonderful. Service was okay. We did not like our crab cakes and out of the two cakes we received we ate only a half of one. We sent 1 and 1/2 back due to the flavor. I was very surprised to see the crab cakes still on the bill. Very disappointed actually, to have to pay for something that didn't taste good and we only ate less than 25% of the dish. We were served by the manager too. Won't go back. read more

Management wanted to charge customer for original meal AND the replacement meal -identical order. A friend in Victoria recommended 10 Acres Bistro for dinner. Boy, she was spot on! 10 Acres Bistro hits all the right foodie targets from flavours (strong to subtle notes), textures (blend of crispy with soft), portion size (huge so come hungry), sustainable (locally sourced) and fantastic service (thank you to our server Connor who is a "Foodie Whisper" in guiding us with his poetic words in describing the menu and directing us in the best selections for us). The French Onion Soup and Gnocchi are the best I have ever tasted. The bacon in the soup brought it to another dimension and the house-made Gnocchi is so soft and matched with perfectly cooked vegetables. The Berryman Farm Pork Chop was seared nicely and coated with the most amazing BBQ glaze. The cayenne pepper elevated the BBQ sauce which surprised me with delight. So full that I had to pass on the desserts which I am sad to say. Oh, the Twisted Stalk Blackerry Helles lager is a "taste of summer": crisp, light and a hint of blackberry notes making you want to reach for another sip. I was informed that by twisting the stalk and leaves it gave the taste but not make the lager berry dark. Really enjoy this local brewery and now searching for more seasonal flavours. I really wanted seafood and wanted the crab cake salad, but I can't choke down cilantro so I went with the halibut. It was tempura style,and I was concerned it would be beer battered and greasy, but really light and cooked to perfection! The Cole slaw was a little too much vinegar for me but the tartar sauce was the best I've ever eaten! We got the chocolate cake to share. It was so delicious we couldn't eat it all. Came to 10 acres bistro twice on my trip! Once for drinks and another for a friends birthday. The drinks were great because they have the outdoor patio so you can get a nice breeze. Dinner was wonderful, they are farm to table which I love this concept so much. It makes a menu so diverse depending on the ingredients you have available to you. I got the gnocchi which had some crispy kale, corn, jalapeño cream and the pork belly on top. It was very delicious. Our waitress was wonderful too! She laughed at my friends horribly corny jokes and she brought out his dessert with a candle for his birthday. This place is right downtown and was pretty packed by 6 on a Thursday so I would look into some rezzys. read more
