We have been to Ilios Noche several times and the food and service have been consistently excellent. Whether we are seated at the bar or at a table, the staff is always friendly, attentive and efficient. My favorite dish is the lamb chops and heirloom beets --- they are always delicious. We also tried the Mediterranean octopus for the first time and it was tender, flavorful and perfectly seasoned. The restaurant has a warm inviting atmosphere and is always well maintained. The dolmades were good but still not sure if I prefer then hot or cold. The rainbow trout dinner was excellent. The spinach fennel salad was terrible, too sour, the watermelon radish was just weird. Great food tonight a order of the zucchini and eggplant fried it was crisp and delicious. Had the sautéed Kale with a side of Greek yogurt it was wonderful lemony and garlicy so good. I thought the Sakginaki was a bit small a thin piece, but also not flamed in front of us anymore. Grape leaves were good and a dish called Gemelli with shrimp was delicious. I've been here only once before and it was definitely a five-star meal and experience. I went again recently and can't explain why, but the flavor of everything we ordered was not the same quality. Ilios Noche has been our go to restaurant for our family because of the delicious food and the wonderful staff. That wasn't the case today. After a long shift at the hospital, I was hungry and I decided to stop by for takeout. I asked to see a menu. There was a young blonde woman and a young tall man with curly hair waiting at the hostess desk. I was offered the menu with a smile, which was nice. But when I asked to place an order, I was immediately cut off by the young man. He said, "you could just go over to the bar and place the order." The young blonde agreed and said, "You can just go to the bar. " Now I was the only one standing there. The restaurant was quiet for a Sunday evening. The bar was packed and the bartender was very busy. I looked back at the young woman and she said, "Or I could write it down for you." These two weren't l doing anything and just could not be bothered. Perhaps in the future it would have been better to say something to the effect of, "I apologize ma'am. But our orders are handled by the bar" or something like that. I don't like feeling as if my service isn't important or like I'm not valued as a customer. I tossed the menu back onto the stack of other menus and said, I'm good. When I turn back, they continued to smile as I suppose that's as much as they're capable of. There have been times when I have called ahead only to have the phone ring over and over and over again at the bar where they transfer the call. There have been times when I've called multiple times only to have the hostess finally take an order. There has to be a better system or at least more people willing to make even the smallest effort. read more

I've been meaning to check out this place for while now, but for one reason or another, unable to...'til now. Surprisingly, the place looked well lived in (thought it was relatively new?), the place had a very warm and inviting vibe...and I even liked their overhead piano music. Their menu featured an unusual mix of Italian and Greek specialities. For me, at least, the appetizers were especially appealing. We ended up ordering 2 appetizers...Zucchini + Eggplant Chips and Calamari Fritti...and both were really good. Yet, not sure why they had to ruin the presentation by adding a layer of paper sheet to both of these appetizer dishes. Cheapened the look...at least to me! BTW, I really wanted to try their "Taste of Spreads" as well...but that was getting a tad too greedy. Maybe next time? For the entrees, I ordered the Capellini...and my husband got the Garganelli. Surprisingly, the portions were way larger than what I anticipated...but the flavor was a bit underwhelming. My Capellini was a tad better...which wasn't surprising, given its lofty price points. We liked...but didn't love our entrees. From what we ordered, we thought the appetizers were stronger than the entrees. Lastly, I enjoyed their Passion Fruit Mojito mocktail...very sweet and refreshing. Service was VERY attentive...exceedingly so! Our waitress was fine, but there were 2 busboys (male staff, that is) standing nearby, staring at the diners the whole time (did NOT like this!). Maybe it's just me and my pet peeve, but I've never been a fan of the waitstaff standing by too close and/or staring while patrons are trying to eat or have private conversations. First of all, I'm Greek and love this place. The ambiance is great, the service is great, etc. However, our last trip in wasn't great. We came in after a long day and ordered a chicken souvlaki and spinach pie to start, and eventually the lamb shank and lemon chicken. We were eating the appetizers, which were great, until the last bite. My girlfriend pulled a huge long black hair out of her spinach pie... literally the last bite. She was mortified and couldn't even say anything for a minute. We never said anything to the server because I think we were in shock. Oddly enough, the table behind us sent back some dips because something was in it, but I couldn't make out what... just heard the exchange with the server and patrons. Right after that, our food came out... and we ate it anyway. Both the mains were hair-free and delicious... we even took some home. I know this was out of the ordinary, but it's going to be a little bit before we can come back. read more

I cannot say enough great things about our girls' night dinner at Illios Noche! The ambiance is great - casual and comfortable yet beautiful inside. Our waitress, Jodi (or Yodi maybe?) absolutely made our experience - she was so friendly, attentive and helpful with providing suggestions for food and wine. We started with the eggplant & zucchini chips, and Y'ALL, these are something I didn't know I needed in my life. Think of a super thin, fresher version of fried pickles but less acidic and dipped in the most flavorful tzatziki sauce. Also the portion was super generous and great for splitting. They were perfection. And they brought everything out so quickly and frequently came by to fill up our waters - we were all very impressed by the service! Entree-wise, my friends got the pasta dish with chicken (I tried it and was blown away - that pasta definitely looked and tasted homemade) and the chicken caprese panini (I didn't try it but it looked awesome), and I went with the lamb souvlaki skewers with a side of Parmesan risotto (the lamb was incredibly juicy and flavorful + it came with warm pita and more delicious tzatziki, and the risotto was delicious, if not maybe just a tad too rich/creamy to eat a lot of). I already can't wait to go back and try more of their Greek and Italian specialty dishes. This place is a dark horse and a winner in my book! read more

Came here for a special event. I had heard the lamb chops were good and yes, they were fabulous !!! I highly, highly recommend. I also got grape leaves and they were also very good. Several people got various items (see photos) and everyone was extremely pleased with their meal. Service was good, but a bit slow. I think our large group of approximately 14 people overwhelmed them a bit. This is likely some of the best Greek food in Charlotte. The other locations by the same name do not compare. we have been Ilios Noche customers for years. Not so much in the last few years. Jan 9 went in for early dinner, we were seated in a nice booth quickly, and our water was served. After 20 minutes we had to go ask for a server- there were only two tables with customers. Once we got a server our wine brought quickly. we ordered two appetizers, the saganaki was over cooked and could not be spread on the pita. Shrimp skewers had nice sized shrimp, but they were tough. every time we tried to cut thru the saganski the uneven table rocked. we decided to go elsewhere for dinner entrees. a dead poinsettia adorned the table. I don't think the manager could have inspected the room prior to dinner service. and the product from the kitchen was not what Ilios gained the reputation for. It's a competive business, last year's laurels won't suffice. read more

Great ambiance and staff, but eclectic Mediterranean food did not impress. We were a party of seven. The staff was great - checking on us and keeping waters full. The best dish was a red pasta dish (started with a "G"). Appetizer of tzatziki was delicious as well. My salmon was dry - very dry and as such had to chew extra on it. My wife had the lamb burger - but again it was dry and almost flavorless. Toppings were good but did not overcome the burger. Kids meals were fine. For those prices expect better quality meats and preparation. Facility has ample parking and situated conveniently to other facilities (I.e., Whole Foods, Harris Retters, etc...). Likelihood of returning is low. I would possibly come back for lunch but for sure no urgency. read more

As for everywhere in Charlotte, the prices are a little high. I wish the saganaki was a little larger of a portion for the money. 4 of us shared the appetizer and it was a small 1-2 bites each. The tzatziki sauce was incredibly fresh. I loved my capellini with the scallops. We had reservations and so glad we did because this place was totally packed on a Friday night. But my wife and I have been going to illios for about 8 years and last night we had the worst service from the same bartender that see us there very often, I don't know what's his problem but it dosen't hurt to be friendly, he seems always upset and rude no matter the time and day of the week. Everything we tried was 5 stars: Garganelli, angry shrimp, spinach pie, chicken skewer, roasted eggplant, cheesecake dessert and baklava (the baklava is one of the best I've ever had and the cheesecake dessert was also insaley good). The only suggestion I could make is to have a non-pork version of the bolognese and braised meatballs - a lot of people have a no-pork dietry restriction and I would have loved to tried these dishes. Came to celebrate my dad's birthday and really enjoyed the great service and yummy food. We ordered two apps - grilled octopus so yummy with the pickled red onions AND dolmades were well sauced. We also wanted to try the roasted ribs and the striped sea bass. The bass is definitely shareable. The server even asked if we wanted the head and tail attached, and because we are used to it because all the flavor is there, we requested to keep them attached. Can't waste all that yum. We really enjoyed the meal and my dad was able to enjoy a baklava sundae for his birthday. The auntie who came to our table to check in and have fun banter was also amazing. You need to get the spinach pie, it's like a giant spanakopita roll. I have had many spinach pie dishes before, but this was absolutely incredible, it never fails to taste fantastic every single time. This time I ended up ordering the lamb shank. Not only is this one of their best dishes on the menu, I swear the portion sizes are enough for two! I always have leftovers to take home. The lamb absolutely melts in your mouth, you can cut it with a spoon! I also had the pleasure of tasting my friends sea scallops with her cappellini. They were cooked to perfection, not a single grain of sand. The zucchini chip appetizer is also a first time try for me.
