Went to IB with my siblings for lunch. I had the mushroom and Swiss burger for about $6.50 side of fries $2.69 and a large margarita. The burger was very tasty, not dry and didn't need additional condiments. Fries are super skinny, but we're fries perfectly. Margarita was a little light in the tequila for me and on the sour side, but very refreshing. Lots of parking. Awesome seating area out on the sidewalk with a beautiful view of evergreen trees. I recently visited Illegal Burger with a friend who lives in the area. They are a bit off of the beaten path, and it was somewhat difficult to find. Once I did find it, it had a nice fast food type decor, somewhat similar to a Chipotle. I ordered one of their specialty burgers on a pretzel bun. The meal was tasty, but nothing to write home about. With so many places like this popping up these days, the food, decor, service, etc, just seemed average. While I love to see new places open and I hope they get better and grow, this place just seems so-so. read more

Went back and tried the "Swimming with the Fish" it was pretty good. I really liked the avocado and the lemon aioli. It was however incredibly messy to eat and ended up falling apart multiple times. Got the hand cut fries as a side and they were not very good and looked like frozen fries. Also ordered was the bacon cheeseburger which was too greasy to even eat and was thrown out. But the patty didn't look or smell like really great quality beef. Also ordered the "Three accomplices" The waffle fries like I stated before are over seasoned. The sweet potato fries were over cooked and thin. And for some reason I didn't get tater tots in mine or least not how I know tater tots. They were huge like Jalapeno Popper size and had cheese in them? I can't eat cheese so I threw them out. Overall I'm not really a fan they really need to work out some issues. read more

Walked in here at 8pm, last Tuesday night 7/6/21.. Young guy at the cashier told us to be very careful as he was cleaning up spilled Ice Tea as we came it, he mentioned it several times as we got soda from the machine and he was sure to warn us not to slip again, such a nice response from the young guy. There was 3 of us and we each had a different burger, and i have to say, we have not shut up about them ever since. Food is always amazing, but I felt I had to receive this instance because the specific cashier working there was extremely disrespectful. I had walked into the building and there was no line, yet the cashier was sitting by the bar scrolling on her phone for about 5 minutes before she decided to come and take our order. Then she proceeded to roll her eyes at us and be disrespectful and passive aggressive. After we had placed our order to go. We waited for about 45 minutes until the cashier came over and tossed our bags onto the table and walked away, after rolling our eyes. Defiantly shouldn't be working there if she is gonna be treating customers like this. read more

Our favorite family burger joint in Evergreen. Fast and tasty burgers with great sauces (and pretzel buns as option!) and super tasty thin fries....and unpretentious service. A nice beer selection and full bar, too. The house margarita is a great way to go. Always a sports game or two on one of the tv's, or enjoy an Evergreen sunset from the patio tables. Oh - don't forget to try their fresh spun milkshakes! And last but not least, they have a very good loyalty/rewards program. My kids love this place. read more

First of all, this place has great burgers. Go here! The reason I'm only giving them 3 stars is because they have messed up my order every time I've come in. I can't say I order the most basic item on the menu, but the odd part is that they tend to just leave items off that were clearly listed on the menu (like the avocado, bacon or jalapeños that are the signature of the awesome Stokely burger). After a friend and I spent the day wandering around Black Hawk and Central City, we each decided it would be swell to go out for cheeseburgers on the way back home. We absolutely didn't want fast food, so after a brief discussion, we remembered there was this burger place that we would otherwise drive past in Evergreen. Neither of us had ever before been here, but we decided to give it a shot. Our first impressions were less than favorable: The outside lights with the restaurant's name were off, nor could we see anyone inside. (Not a good sign for a Saturday night.) We almost walked away thinking they closed, but decided to give it a shot. I'm so glad we did. With no other customers, we didn't have to wait to give our order and were promptly served. These were easily the best burgers we've had in quite some time. I ordered the Off the Record Avocado, which was not only delicious but more food than I could eat, even though I was famished. My friend ordered their Undercover Cheeseburger and absolutely loved it, along with a side of waffle fries. I'm not someone who usually eats fries and thought the fries were just meh, though my friend mostly enjoyed them. I'd say it was the biggest disappointment in the meal. Overall, we truly loved our burgers, thought the place was clean, and the staff was efficient. As most of the burgers were in the $7-$10 range, we ended up spending only a little more than we would have spent at a Wendy's, for a MUCH better meal. After recently moving close to Evergreen my fiance and I have been checking out more of the local eats. We were looking for a good spot for a late lunch and this showed up on Yelp. We decided to give it a try (read some of the reviews, but decided to give the place the benefit of the doubt). I'm glad we did! After some discussion, we decided to get two burgers and spilt them. We got an "Off the Record Avocado" and an "Illegal Cream Cheese" burger. The jalapenos were too spicy for me, but the fiance loved it. (I would have to get no jalapenos if I got that the next time).We split some regular cut french fries and those were perfectly crispy. As far as the customer service complaints go, we had no issues. The guy taking our order even overheard us talking saying how we were going to split them, and had them cut in half already for us when he brought them out to the patio for us. Terrible service, rude staff, filthy tables. I had to search for for a clean table to eventually clean off my own. The cashier answered my questions short, incorrectly and was rude. I don't think that I'll visit if I see her behind the counter again. I made my own burger and had the illegal (just the regular fries) and the food was pretty good. I don't know if it was worth the price, but it was pretty good. I'd probably give another location a try or if the person that was working wasn't there. And it was freezing inside. I'd like to give these guys five stars. Here's why I'd like to: got a black bean burger, and it was delicious! The fries were petty good and food came out quickly too! Now here's why I won't give them 5 stars: the black bean burger said vegan next to it. Upon ordering, the girl asked what kind of bread I wanted, so I said, "whatever it comes with (since it says vegan)." She said it doesn't come with any assigned bread so I asked what breads were vegan. She didn't know, and didn't think they had any that was. I told her to ask a manager but no one there knew.. So I just picked one. I also got a salad and asked for vinaigrette and it came out with ranch (dairy). She was sorry, she didn't know they didn't have vinaigrette when I paid for the salad... She eventually brought me out white vinegar (20 min into my meal and after I ate my salad). They need to get a new staff, or implement a training program there and I would try it again. As for now, it's probably good to try, but don't expect a fully competent staff. For me, if you can't get competence at a restaurant you can't expect competence with their food (and food safety). It does have a full bar and is nicely designed inside. It certainly has potential and one day I'll give them another chance and reevaluate where necessary. read more

We have been to Illegal Burger several times and have had a great experience each time. Fish burger was perfect. Fresh and good quality products. The BBQ chicken was tasty. The #7 burger with mushrooms and cheese was the best burger in town. Waffle fries, sweet potato fries...yummy. If you are heading out to Denver, just need a quick lunch this is as good as it gets. Better than even Smash Burger. OH Yeah... now for the secret. Order your burger, and slip over to the El Senior Sol and have a drink with your burger. Evergreen has suffered through so many over priced stuffy eateries, or nasty bars. Finally a good option for a good tasting simple burger without eating at McDonalds or Burger King. Eat here and support a new business and a small business owner trying to do the right thing. read more

A very bad example of a "fast casual" burger place. Been in a couple times now since evergreen doesn't have much for hamburgers. Both times at dinner it's been dead empty. This place is a three-star establishment. The decor is cute - it's sort of convict/outlaw themed. The outdoor area is nice (especially since we stopped here on a road trip with a dog). But the burgers are just "eh". I had the veggie burger with the mushroom option (grilled mushrooms, caramelized onions, swiss cheese, and house sauce). Someone with me ordered the mushroom swiss with a beef patty. We were both pretty unimpressed. Even with the pretzel bun, our burgers were just okay. The sweet potato fries are pretty good. They come with a sweet honey/cream cheese sauce. However, the fries weren't enough to make up for the lackluster burgers. So, overall. It's okay. Certainly not bad. I'd stayed away from Illegal Burger for a few months after moving to the area due to the negative reviews, but I finally stopped in and now I've been 4 times in the last 3 weeks... Most of the complaints I've read sound unfounded or unreasonable. Their prices are on the high end, but not at all unusual these days, anyone with that complaint is out of touch and should visit some of the burger spots in downtown Denver. The service has been solid during each visit, sometimes a little slow but still friendly and apologetic if need be, nothing unusual. There are a lot of great options on their menu and some excellent sides and dipping sauces that you wont find everywhere. I've tried multiple things and always been impressed. Drove up on a Sunday to hang out. This place was great! I had The Boss burger and my son had the bacon bbq burger. Bonus points for 'Sunday Funday!" I had 2 margaritas at $2 each! Worth far more btw! The manager was very personable and hands-on. He explained about their recent change in doggy policy, due to poor timing and luck.
