After an event at the Evergreen Library - mom and I found ourselves hungry and stumbled upon a cute little roadside café. Blackbird is cutesy and inviting with brightly painted exterior (featuring butterflies and sunflowers), cozy and wooded interior, with one hell of a Creekside view. The layout inside is a little awkward - and entrance is right near the kitchen. However, we maneuvered to a table in the corner near the window - with a nice, sunny view and was greeted by a friendly face who gave us a rundown of the specials and allowed us ample time to peruse the menu. We decided to sip on Arnold palmers and split The Rachel - essentially a Turkey Ruben with a side of fries and sweet potato fries - because two types of fries is always the right choice! I had a great experience at Blackbird, I was seated within 10 minutes on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. I came solo with my dog and was given a great spot on the patio with a nice view of the creek. My friends and I stumbled upon this place for brunch when visiting Evergreen. SO GOOD. It was packed but we only had to wait 10-15 minutes. The service was great and the waiter gave us recommendations. The menu was full of so many great things - biscuits and gravy, huevos rancheros, sandwiches, salads, burgers. We had the pimento cheese fritters. Oh my - TO DIE FOR. The best crunch with the cheesy inside and paired with the raspberry jam. It was the best. My wife and I stopped in here for a second time after taking our old doggie for a nice, easy walk / hike along Bear Creek in O'Fallon Park just east of here. The patio is wonderful, looking across a meadow at Bear Creek, which you can hear from your table. An expansive menu provides something for every taste. We started with fried pickle chips. My wife had a Reuben that looked fantastic with freshly made chips, I had a really great (and very big) falafel with onion rings, and they were kind enough to cook a large, unseasoned burger patty for our four legged friend. I had a beer, and my wife had their monthly drink special - a huckleberry lemonade vodka concoction that she said was so good she ordered a second. The staff was universally friendly, happy and welcoming. They asked us what had brought us there, how old our dog was, and made other pleasantries without being intrusive. When we were looking for a convenient brunch spot between Denver, Lakewood, and Evergreen, we finally decided to give it a try. Any excuse to head up to the mountains is one we'll gladly take! Visiting on a weekday meant a more relaxed atmosphere, though I can easily imagine this cozy spot buzzing with activity on weekends. The café exudes a charming, rustic cabin feel, and its prime location along Bear Creek offers picturesque views for those lucky enough to snag a table by the window. Despite arriving as a large group without reservations, the staff quickly arranged tables for us, and we were seated in no time. Their warm hospitality set the tone, with coffee and drinks arriving swiftly as we took our time exploring the menu. There was even a cute little play area for restless kids. It was fun to see such a variety of dishes land on our table--everyone ordered something different, and each plate was as tempting as the next. The French Toast with fresh strawberries (and real maple syrup), the Chorizo Nido, and the Green Chili Smothered Burrito were particular standouts, though every bite was delicious. I came here with a large group for Sunday brunch. Note that parking was mostly on the street and minimal, there was an hour wait for groups large and small, and they don't take reservations except for holidays. We were fortunate enough to be seated outside, and it was a lovely view with the creek running nearby. I ended up ordering the omelette with mushrooms and sausage. I also tried the green chili bison burger. I thought both were good but would get the bison burger again. The omelette came with potato cakes, which were like flattened, herby tater tots. I also had delicious buttery sourdough toast, but it was light on the sourdough flavor. The omelette could have use a little more seasoning, but under-seasoned eggs are so common. The burger was really flavorful and it came with greasy onion rings that were tasty. Overall, I would say this place is probably drawing in crowds more for the ambiance than food, but the food is still good. read more

We drove by and spotted Blackbird Cafe the day before we were going back home and decided to try it as we headed to the airport at the end of our trip. So glad we stopped! Had we known about this place sooner we would have come here every morning during our trip! It was an overcast morning but warm enough to sit outside on their cute patio where everyone was so chill, having a relaxing brunch next to Bear Creek, some with their dogs which I love. Our servers were delights...so friendly, and service was on the spot with everything. Coffee was great, Bloody Mary had a nice kick and great flavor, and the food was delicious. Our party each had something different and we were trying off of each others plates since we were all raving about our orders - Classic eggs Ben, Revolving Eggs Ben (verde sauce, cheddar, and chorizo), Huevos Rancheros, Chilaquiles, and a side of pancakes. All yum! We saw that they have Thirsty Thursday with live music every week. We all wished we could have gone to that during our visit, so if you're free on Thursday night check it out! We found this restaurant on our way to Evergreen lake. The high rating of the restaurant caught our attention. Upon arrival, it was pretty empty, we got a table right away. It's a nice wooden shack style restaurant, right by a small creek. Such amazing spot to enjoy breakfast/brunch close to nature. They have a bar as well. All staff are very friendly and helpful. We all ordered different items from the breakfast. Everyone loved their dishes. I was impressed with my corned beef egg Benedict. It was a unique dish, as they serve it with piece of hashbrowns underneath. Eggs were cooked so nicely, yolks drip over once you poke them. I got a non-alcoholic drink as well, that was very well made. Overall we had a wonderful dining experience before heading up to the mountains. Special mention of the pancakes they make. Looking for a brunch spot in the mountains outside Denver and this place did not disappoint. Was able to get a window seat overlooking the river but there is also an outside patio area. Excellent place to stop by after a hike in Evergreen! Parking is pretty limited but we were able to snag a spot out front on a weekday. I imagine this place gets super packed on the weekends and on certain holidays like father's day they require reservations. The restaurant itself is big, but the main draw here is the patio by the creek. They have colorful umbrellas and a nice vibe, and they're dog friendly. The menu is decent. They have everything from curry and rice, to salads and sandwiches. My seared ahi salad was good but not anything special. I would love to come back again for brunch. read more

We received great service at Blackbird Cafe from our waiter Austyn! I definitely enjoyed the food here as well as the french toast was a perfect level of sweetness If you love cheeses scrambled eggs, you HAVE to order those! I usually like my bacon slightly crispy which is what I expressed to the waiter and the cook was spot on when they made it! They had a variety of options when it came to toast/english muffins (no white bread though). My biggest feedback is I wish they had sugar free syrup! My boyfriend can't have regular syrup so he was unable to use. We went on a weekday early morning and it was not crowded at all; so no wait time! The parking is very unique, there is not an actually parking lot or many spaces at that so I do recommend going during low hours. My favorite part was definitely the view from inside the restaurant. We stopped here while driving the lariat Loop for lunch today. It was a great choice, I'm glad nothing worked out while we were in Evergreen. I got the mushroom, onion and cheese hamburger with sweet potato fries. It was the best burger I have had since I have been in Colorado.
