Very small portion with hardly any cheese & the marinara was too watered down for my taste. I normally have enough food to bring 1/2 home whenever I eat out, not here. And if they want to charge the prices they do for small, simple pasta dishes, they could at least give you freshly grated Parmesan cheese to add, not what looks like Kraft fake Parmesan dust. They should also be giving you house-made pasta at these prices, not up-charging you even more if you want that option. I will say the bread basket they give you was enjoyable. Went here for a surprise 70th birthday party not knowing what to expect since we live about an hour away near Philadelphia. Food was amazing from the appetizers (calamari, mussels) to the main dishes and everything was delicious. We were able to order off the menu which has so many choices. And I don't want to forget the specials which were indeed, *special*! The service from Dina and her team of ass't servers and bus people was amazing! How she handled 22 people so calmly, warmly, and efficiently is beyond me. Very comfortable and clean restaurant, including the bathrooms. We can't wait to return to this wonderful restaurant. Skip the food, stay for the dessert. Our first dinner at Illiano Cucina was a big party of 10+ people. Ordered 6-7 appetizers and while nothing blew us away, nothing was particularly bad. How can you mess up burrata and mozzarella based apps? The calamari was below average, and the octopus was average. Wouldn't re order anything. Definitely won't be coming back. Which brings me to main entrees. The ONLY good entree at the table was the black squid ink ravioli. And by good I mean 7/10 good. The pork chop special was ordered by 3 people at the table due to a waiter recommendation. Every one was quoted as being "saw dust" texture and completely overcooked on top of being bland. The seafood zuppa di pesce looked and tasted like everything was thrown into a pot of unseasoned water. Frozen seafood thrown together with no care and a lovely $35 price tag. The chicken parm had a pool of water underneath, had no crisp, and no flavor. The meatballs looked absolutely anemic, they actually looked gray. No sear, no seasoning, and just sat on top of spaghetti with a jarred sauce on top. This place can't even deliver classic Italian dishes correctly, I have no idea why they have such good reviews. Now onto the only reason this place is receiving 3 stars and not 1. The dessert. The dessert was truly phenomenal. I ordered a triple chocolate mousse cake and was actually brought out the wrong dessert (a chocolate mousse cup which they didn't charge since they brought the wrong dessert). Regardless of the mistake, they were both FANTASTIC. I would stop in to pick up both to go if I was in the area. The tiramisu was very very good, the chocolate chip cheesecake was also good. 0 complaints on all the desserts that were sampled. It ended the very very below average and almost terrible meal on a surprisingly high note. Hence 3 stars and not 1. New Jersey is FULL of fantastic Italian restaurants. If you want a night of sub par appetizers, terrible entrees and amazing desserts.. I guess this is the place for you. But I definitely won't be returning. read more

Food was exceptional and the service even better. Attended a funeral luncheon there on 8/20. All courses from soup to dessert were very well prepared and served. We had delicious salads and the minestrone soup was in a large bowl and delicious. Every entree from chicken to fish to pastas were well executed. My girlfriend's family and I had 6pm dinner reservations on a Sunday night. This was my first time dining at Illiano in 5-6 years despite living only a couple of miles away and I have been missing out. Everything about our dinner experience was stellar. The first thing I noticed after being seated was how friendly and personable the waitstaff and management were. They're caring, accommodating, and speak to you like family. The dining room was full of patrons but wasn't overly noisy. Illiano is BYOB, We brought two bottles of wine to share They start you off with dinner rolls and pizza bread which is AMAZING! Even though I haven't dined here in years we do often bring boxes of pizza bread to parties and it is always a hit. Our server was awesome. One of the friendliest servers I've ever had. He had a great sense of humor, was always asking how things were and if there was anything he could get us, and was quick to return with everything we asked for. The food was great. We started with goat cheese stuffed artichokes and fried tomatoes. The artichokes were cooked til tender and served with prosciutto and a balsamic drizzle over arugula. The tomatoes were large and fried perfectly. We all ended up getting pasta. Gnocchi Bolognese, Gypsy with Penne, Linguini and Clams, and Chicken Sorrento with Linguine (my entree). The linguine was perfectly Al dente, ingredients were fresh, and both the clam and Sorrento sauces were flavorful. Portion sizes were huge and we all had leftovers to bring home. The entrees were all served with choice of soup or salad. We all chose salad. The dressing was delicious and it's to my understanding that it is house made. I'm not sure about everyone else but there was nothing I would've changed or preferred done differently. We were all too stuffed for dessert. I can't believe it's been years since I've eaten here especially since it's so close but I will be dining here more often. I already told a few family members we'll have to come back soon. Just a tip and there is a sign on the front door as you walk in but they do add 3% to your bill if you pay with credit card. read more

It was our first time visiting Illiano Cucina and we are surely glad we did! It was a nice night so we decided to dine on their back patio which overlooks a small pond. The server immediately brought us warm dinner rolls and tomato bread to enjoy prior to our dinner. I ordered the Chicken Monterosa, which was topped with spinach, fresh and sun-dried tomatoes, topped with mozzarella cheese, served in a pink brandy cream sauce over linguine. It was excellent, a very large portion, and included a side salad a delicious house dressing. My wife had Linguine Romano, which was aurora cream sauce, fresh tomatoes, sun-dried tomatoes and a touch of vodka. Her dish was excellent as well and also included the house salad. The portions were so large we wrapped of half of it and had it for lunch the next day. The prices are comparable to other Italian restaurants in the area, but the quality really sets them apart. We will be back very soon to enjoy another fabulous meal at this delightful restaurant. read more

Nice dining atmosphere with comfy booths as an option. Two dining rooms - one has a view of a small pond. Almost always a lively atmosphere. Service is pretty good. Extensive menu. My favorite meal has been osso buco. I also like the different chicken or veal options over a choice of pasta service with soup or salad. I always get the soup. Their minestrone is very good. My meals have been usually good to great with the exception of my last visit when I got Chicken Maximo serve with old ruddy small asparagus pieces and a watery tomatoe based sauce. Went here for lunch with my Aunt and brother who is a bit if a foodie. He came from out of town so I wanted a place not too far from my Dads memorial but also offered a good dinning experience. The place was understated on the outside but spacious and lovely inside. A lil loud as it was the lunch rush. The wait staff was attentive and gracious. I wanted to try the fried avocado but was told it wasn't usually offered at lunchtime. Our waitress put in a special request and yayyy! I got to try them they were delicious light and flavorful. My brother got a Margherita pizza hand tossed the crust was crispy and freshness of the mozzarella excellent. My Aunt had the crabcake sandwhich on what looked like fresh brioche she was thrilled with the taste. The portion size was generous so she was happy to have more than enough to take home for dinner, got love our seniors. They appreciate leftovers lol. I had a sausage pasta dish it was seasoned perfectly and the sauce was creamy. Because I filled up avocado fries I had plenty of leftovers too. Would definitely recommend if in the area. We live pretty far from my Dads memorial so I doubt I'll get the opportunity to come back often. However next time Im in the area I will stop in again for a meal. We are regulars at Illiano's with family, friends, and takeout. We love the muscles, pizza, salads, and pasta meals. The seafood is always delicious, sauce always perfectly paired with the dish, staff always friendly, and pasta is perfect al dente. We can even find ""whole wheat" pasta for a unique taste. Following our first takeout we opted to dine in upon confirming they still follow Covid precautions, still being taken seriously, so you can check the box they absolutely are. Made a 3:30 late lunch early dinner (linner) for a Sunday figuring it would kind of empty, and slow, this way we can just chill and relax. We were shown to a lovely window table overlooking the pond and fountain. Our server Stosh immediately came over and introduced himself, welcomed us, our water glasses were filled, our bottle of wine was was opened and placed in a ice bucket, and a lovely plate of fresh baked goodies was brought to the table to start. We opted to forgo an appetizer being that we had our eyes on two very interesting dinner dishes which came with salad. my wife ordered the Pollo Maximo 2 chicken breasts, fresh tomatoes shiitake mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes, mozzarella cheese in a sherry wine sauce served over pasta. And for my dish I had the Mediterranean zuppa do peace, jumbo shrimp clams muscles calamari and scallops combined in a zesty marinara sauce And instead of pasta I requested A side of spinach with garlic and oil, excellent choice. Both dishes were cooked to perfection the chicken was moist and tender and the seafood items were the perfect texture and firmness; all in all, made for a really great dinner. Stosh was as cordial as can be, accommodating as can be, and friendly as can be. Absolutely will be back next time will try to bring parents with us for a special meal. My Grandmother and I came here on a Thursday night and were pleasantly surprised! The restaurant is quite large despite it being nestled away in a shopping center. We were able to be immediately seated though noticed people dressed a bit nice (we felt underdressed). The server we had was a really kind man who rolled with the punches of my spunky 83 year old Grandmother. We ordered a pasta dish each - gnocchis with Alfredo sauce for her, and a chicken dish that had peppers and mushrooms in a marinara sauce for me. I tried their soup of the night which was a shrimp bisque. There was no shrimp to be found, unfortunately. My meal was OK, and I tried my grandmothers and I felt the same too. It wasn't anything out of this world but I have a feeling that maybe we just happened to order two so-so dishes that night, because the pizza bread they served at our table was absolutely delicious. (So I'm hoping that maybe if I give it one more shot, I'll find something better on the menu.) My family visited Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge and came here for a late lunch. The food was delicious and the service was great. (The bathrooms are very clean!). We were a party of seven and were seated in a large round table. The restaurant offered us a delicious bread basket with "red bread" that was piping hot from the oven. It was focaccia with marinara sauce the rolls were delicious too. Pasta dishes come with a choice of salad or minestrone. The soup was homemade and delicious. My family enjoyed the house made dressing in the salad. I had the Sicilian which was sautéed eggplant in red sauce with linguine (my choice of pasta). Hmm. Ordered here for take out while in town visiting a friend of mine. When we called we had asked if they deliver. The girl on the phone responded with, "I don't know." Hmm, okay. You work there and are unaware if delivery is available? That makes sense. So we placed an order for take out. For whatever reason, now she can't hear us and continues to say, "what??" Instead of "I'm sorry, can you repeat?" Or something along those lines. Anyway, we order a certain pasta and she has no idea what we are ordering. The rudeness continues. It was partly our fault for the confusion, as we were slightly mispronouncing it....but the rudeness wasn't needed or appreciated. We ordered linguini with clams, ravioli, bruschetta, and penne sorrento. We pick it up, pick up goes smoothly. Each entree comes with a generous salad with house dressing. I didn't have any as I super hungry from my drive to NJ...so I dug right into my pasta. The penne sorrento was good. Had wonderful flavors. All portions were generous. This is the first time I've been to this restaurant. Came with a friend. It was a nice place but I would like to point out a few things where I think improvements can be made. First, let me say the service was great. No issues there. I ordered clams casino. They were made correctly but then there was tomato sauce covering it. Thats not supposed to be. Get rid of the sauce and the clams would be great. My friend got zucchini fries. Good.We got salads that came with our entrees. Fine. Tried not to eat that much or much of the bread so I would be able to eat my entree which was veal Lucia. Veal with crab, cherry tomatoes and crab. My friend got chicken montesoro something like that. We both opted to forgo any pasta.. My veal tasted like pork to me and it was covered in pure cream with cheese in it. Covered. I tried to eat as much as I could but it was pure cream! The crab was good. My friend, same situation. Her dish was also swimming in a blush cream sauce with some spinach. She got a side of broccoli Rabe but it was overly salted. She really couldn't eat it. So while it was a pleasant outing, the food was pretty disappointing.
