I went in for emergency neck pain, I literally could not move. I walk in and the first thing he does is try to sell me orthotic insoles- before he even asks what's wrong with my neck! How exactly would this help my neck? Which was in SO MUCH PAIN?? He would not shut up about the insoles, which of course aren't covered by insurance, but he "will give a good price"- $500! Then he tried to negotiate. I'm like DUDE JUST FIX MY NECK. He wouldn't drop it. This man was preying on a weak and distressed new patient to see how much he could get out of me. I felt disgusting and so furious during my first visit. I went back for a follow up 2 days later because I was desperate and they had availability- Then There was a "$30 fee for the follow up appt to go over xrays, which isn't part of the regular appt" - huh?? NO, that is literally part of my appt and I won't be paying extra for you to literally just go over my results with me? I refused to pay it and guess what- we went over the results! Scam #2 After repeatedly telling him insoles were not in my budget, he still wouldn't stop! He literally CALLED IN ANOTHER PATIENT who had them and said "see- she likes them!" And had the patient try to convince me!! I was SO UNCOMFORTABLE. I finally said "enough about the insoles, it's not going to happen no matter how much you insist I need them." Then he pivoted and tried to sell me one of his neck pillows! WTF DUDE! The office is filthy. The chair I laid on for treatment was 40 years old and had dirt and dust right underneath it (like a foot away from my face- DISGUSTING!!) He then tried to REFUSE to give me my x-rays back because he "needed them". No. He knew I was leaving and would never come back. Better believe I got my xrays before leaving and never going back to this scam artist. I would never recommend this doc. read more

This is an update to a review I left several months ago. I went to this guy for over a year. He's an ok chiro but he will badger you constantly to: give him a good review. He will tell you which social media platform where he wants it. He also insisted that I needed his orthotics and kept at me for several weeks to unload over $700 for them. He does this with a lot of his patients. I said my insurance didn't cover it and he lowered it to $500. I still said no. He said I could save up for it! My board-certified podiatrist says I need no orthotics. The answer is, was, and will be no. This guy will also try to sell you his vitamins. But I've asked him things a nutritionist/vitamin monger should know and he doesn't know. I continued to go to him because he knew my case and gave effective adjustments. After he determined what and how to go about it, adjustments only took 5 minutes at most. That also made it easier then and now to get in to see him on the same day. if I called before noon, I was never told he had no time slots available. That was handy when I had an injury. I started going to him when he was in a basement on 12 St. They sold the building and, I assume, the rent got too high or they wanted to change it. So now he's in a WeWork on 14 St, doing their "office suite" deal. It looks better than where he was. Too bad his old admin staff is gone. When you do WeWork, admin staff is included in the rent. I guess that's why the non-medical office WeWorker was not so great with me, when she informed me I could not make any more appointments there. I was there on a Monday. I called on Wed. to see if I could come on Friday and got the "you again?" attitude. It seems that my insurance's money was OK to take for over a year but it is not now. She said they only pay $6 a visit (which is rubbish). Her tone was that I should have been very sorry about that or that I should have known better than to call at all. Very Unprofessional. When other doctors decide they don't want to participate in an insurance plan, the office sends out email or snail mail informing all patients who have that insurance plan. Aside from that clumsy rudeness, I don't know why he is that concerned with insurance money at all. He only works 21 hours a week, or 3 days @10:30-7, with a 1.5 hour lunch every day. WeWork charges by the month so he must be selling a lot of orthotics and vitamins. Otherwise, I don't know how long he will be here either. And I could care less. read more

I came to the Dr. Ilya Simakosky @ his location on 154 W14th Street Ste. 401 in June with sciatica symptoms and he was helpful. I walked better and the pain subsided a bit along with the physical therapy I was prescribed by my neurosurgeon. I though that I would try the orthotics he recommended which were to help the condition. I was not told (or didn't remember being told cuz honestly I don't remember and besides how would I know) that molds of my feet needed to be taken and an appointment needs to be made. I waited for several weeks with no word and got busy with going back to work for the first time after the pandemic. I contacted the office and I was told the oversight was supposed to be rectified aka I was going to be refunded my money in 2 payments. That did not happen. I wrote this review Oct. 5. So, with patience and understanding I called yesterday and left a message about it. Oversights happen right? No big deal. The receptionist left me a message this morning to call and speak to the Dr. I called back shortly after and spoke to the him. I told him that I just wanted to get my money back and was met with the excuse that his last receptionist had quit and other reasons why he thought that this whole thing was MY fault. I had to tell him to lower his voice as he was yelling at me. I pointed it out and he said "that is the way he speaks sometimes" at which point I thought "maybe to other people I won't allow it". I hung up on him. The receptionist called back and left a message that they needed my address. I went to the office to give them my address immediately. I watched the receptionist take a payment from a patient and touch her card and give her an appointment card. When it was my turn she flat out refused to touch my license and wanted me to say my address out loud in front of other patients in the waiting room which I have a right not to have to do for my protection. All she had to do was look at my license. The Dr. came out and told her to take my address and she said she didn't want to talk to me because I was being nasty to her which was a blatant lie. I am the kind of person that people say is happy all the time! I do not, did not, and would never mistreat anyone let alone in a professional setting as I work in a premium health and wellness facility myself. I immediately said that she was lying and that she was the one being nasty at which the Dr. said "I guess emotions run high". This is no excuse! I had been nothing but nice to these people and they got THEIR money from me as soon as they asked for it. All I wanted was my money back and they were mad about that and only that. There was no reason for any of this nonsense except for them being grossly unprofessional. I should not have been treated like this. There are chiropractors all over the city. I was recommended to Dr. Simakovsky through my orthopedic masseuse, as she described him as being one of the only chiropractors she trusts not to do any damage. I have terrible TMJ pain, as well as very stiff and knotted neck, shoulders, and lower back. Dr. Simakovsky has had me on trigger point therapy, which has provided some relief, in addition to prescribing me custom orthotics, once he pointed out to me that I had scoliosis. The custom orthotics are a GAME CHANGER! I finally for the first time feel aligned and comfortable. I really didn't think they were going to feel as good as they did, but I am SOOOO so happy they do. With a sudden onset of lower back pain radiating into my right thigh, I was fortunate enough to find Dr. Simakovsky, and I was able to get an appointment within a day. After the first visit with Dr. Simakovsky I was able to move my right leg and walk again without much pain, and after a few more visits I have absolutely no pain or problems with movement at all. I don't know where to start with the praise for the doc. A few weeks ago I was almost unable to walk, I hadn't been able to sleep for several days from the constant pain, and then I found his phone number. They made it possible for me to get in the same day and after xrays, the doctor was able to immediately identify the problems in my back and hips, knees, and feet. I've been to many doctors and surgeons in the 2 years since my motorcycle accident and each one suggested surgery and medication and more surgery and the faintest hint at positive outcome. Dr simikovsky patiently explained a course of treatment and confidently told me he could fix me. After a couple weeks of treatment the pain has decreased and I'm mobile, no dancing yet, but with his magic touch I feel like I'll be cutting it up soon. The chiropractic was fine and I didn't really need orthotics, which insurance never even partially covered as I was promised. Went to see Dr Simakovsky with knee buckling spasms in my middle back. After five weeks, the spasms and pain have subsided. The orthotics are a must. To say Dr. Simakovsky has helped me in the short time of knowing him would be an understatement. I just moved to NYC from LA two weeks ago. Within my first week of being here, I was in tremendous pain. I was in so much pain to the point where I couldn't walk without having to take breaks to sit down because my lower back hurt so badly. If it wasn't for me pulling over one day and sitting outside on stoop right outside of Dr. Simakovsky's office and looking up chiropractors near me on my iPhone.. realizing he was right behind me, I wouldn't have found such a miracle of a doctor and healer. I immediately called and asked if I could get an appointment within the next few hours. I was informed he was booked all day, but if my pain is as severe as I was claiming... he will see me in two hours. The bedside manner that both Dr. Simakovsky and his wife who works at the front desk is so refreshing. I have scoliosis and have battled with that since I was 13. I am 23 now, and it is something that I have just learned to deal with. I have been to countless chiropractors, physical therapists, masseuses, etc... but none like Dr. Simakovsky. All of these other practitioners have offered temporary relief in the past that don't last that long... but I have been seeing him 2-3 times a week the past couple of weeks, and my pain level has gone from a 10 to a 0. My back isn't locked up, and I no longer feel debilitated when I walk. I also have terrible gut issues due to taking too many antibiotics, and with the inexpensive but effective supplements he has prescribed me such as detox supplements and probiotics, my stomach has become a lot flatter and I no longer have chronic constipation.
