I initially loved my appointments here with the nail technician Jane that I bought their membership twice. How their membership works is it's a prepaid that allows you to get a small discount off each service. I did the $500 membership tier once and was happy with my experience so I bought a second $500 membership in order to get 10% off each service. However, when I bought into my second membership, I noticed I started getting different treatment than the other customers. This salon caters to native mainland China speakers & although I am Chinese, it's very apparent I am American born Chinese. I don't speak fluent Mandarin but I understand Mandarin well and I can converse with simple phrases. However, there were a few things that happened to me that made me think I was treated differently than the other Chinese clients. The owner would repeatedly schedule my appointments with all her technicians going through training (this happened to me at least 3 times). During appointments when she was monitoring her employees, she would hit her vape in front of me. And there was a specific instance in which I caught her criticizing the pale yellow nail color I had chosen in Mandarin because she thought I didn't understand what she was saying (she told the nail technician in training that the color I had chosen was ugly and she advised the technician to build close relationships with her clients so they can take her color recommendations, otherwise people will see her work and think she did a poor job simply because I chose an "ugly" color). I think the cherry on top was when I went in for the last time today, I had a $50 balance in my membership. My nails were supposed to cost $75 but the technician told me that because I didn't have enough balance in my membership to cover my entire service, I wouldn't get the 10% discount and they would be charging me additional $10 for gel removal because the gel removal is complimentary only for members. My technician was apologetic but stated it was the owner's policy. But what's the purpose in buying the membership if you're not going to get the discount? I think I'm just deeply disappointed in my experience because I've always been a good customer who tipped all the technicians well, and showed up to all my appointments on time. I've gotten some really cute nail sets done here (I'll add some pics) but the treatment I've gotten has completed ruined the experience for me. Just be aware if you're coming here as a non-native Chinese speaker- they won't treat you or value your business the same.

From the moment I sat down, the technician appeared visibly dissatisfied--impatient and loudly critical, especially about how "difficult" it was to remove my previous nails. The overall attitude was unwelcoming, and throughout the appointment, the constant criticism made the experience unpleasant. To make matters worse, during a minor disagreement about the nail design, the technician openly used a vape in front of customers--which felt highly unprofessional and offensive. I understand the technician may have been under pressure after a long day, and to be fair, the final result wasn't bad, that's why I am giving two-stars instead of just one Still, I scheduled and paid for both removal and gel services--I don't believe that justifies being met with such negative energy.

I made an appointment via text message a few weeks prior to my appointment to get my nails done for my wedding weekend, and the two hours I spent with her were by far the most relaxing time I had that week. Her studio is located in Suite 5 of Sola Salons, and it's filled with the cutest decor. Pink and cute figurines galore. It's a 1:1 salon, so all of Angel's attention is on you, and she has an iPad on the side playing Kdramas so you can keep occupied. She was super sweet and noticed I was really into the drama and adjusted the angle of the iPad for me to keep watching. Most of the appointment was peacefully quiet, which was exactly what I needed on such a busy week. She spent a lot of time just cleaning and getting my nails ready for the polish, which I appreciated a lot. She then took the time to make sure she did the exact design I was looking for and recommended her newest glitter nail polish, which was a fantastic choice and ended up looking so beautiful on wedding day. I showed her a picture of gel nails I've wanted to get, and she proceeded to do them but with her own creative liberties. They were a bit of a splurge but honestly sooo worth it.
