First impressions, I thought the salon was clean and rather small. They had 4 techs working and they were all busy when I came in but I didn't mind waiting. I showed my nail tech an inspo pic and let her know that I wanted square round nails and she got to work as soon as she was free. When she was working on my nails, another customer came in asking to get her eyebrows waxed. My nail tech stopped mid service when she was working on my nails to wax her eyebrows. I am patient so again, I didn't mind waiting however I could tell that the tech felt rushed and stressed. I'm not sure if this is the norm here but the tech only trimmed my nails before applying the dip powder but did not clean up my cuticles or trim any hangnails. Also, when she was filing down the dip, she cut 3 of my fingers which stung. I understand that she had another customer waiting on her but I don't think it was appropriate for her to rush through my service.

We came in and entered with the sign outside saying Nails of America, no notices or signs about change in ownership. We received our services and went to pay with our gift cards. At that time, I was told they could no longer accept our gift cards because they had changed ownership. I referenced the sign on the door and they told me I should have checked Google. I can walk there, why would I check Google? We went round and round. They asked if I had receipts for the gift cards that people had given my daughter. Ultimately I paid and left. I shared this info with my friends and multiple people have been able to use their nails of America gift cards since then. So I called today to try and see if they wanted to make it right. When the person that answered the phone did all she could do, I asked to speak to a manager. The manager told me she was so very sorry but they could not accept my gift cards. I explained the entire situation and told her that they are not consistent and have not changed their signs or posted any notices that they are under new ownership. The fact that I was refused and two friends had different results in the same week is horrible. The manager then told me that they have made two complete staff changes since then so she had no control over it. This business has horrific unethical business practices and will not survive in this area if they aren't going to be customer service focused and replace entire staff twice in two months. They cannot possibly keep quality technicians and cleanliness for long with this type of management. Join me in avoiding this horrible business. There are many other ethical salons to try.

However, as I was leaving today, I noticed I hadn't received a receipt so I asked for one. When I got to my car and reviewed it, I saw I had been charged an extra $10 for a "nail fix." That was confusing to me because I came in for a builder gel set on my real nails and they had done my previous set as well. I went back inside to ask about it and was told by the manager that the charge was because I had partially removed the gel from two of my nails. I explained that the gel had started peeling after two weeks, so I removed part of it myself this morning knowing I was going to come get them fixed after work today. My main concern is not necessarily the $10 itself, but the lack of transparency. Three different employees assisted me today between my pedicure and gel set and at no point was I informed there would be an additional charge. When I asked why no one thought to alert me, I was told they "thought I knew." Very odd response for it only being my 3rd time. I was initially excited to find a new nail salon that provided good service and transparent pricing, but adding charges without communicating them beforehand (and then making excuses for the lack of communication) makes me reconsider returning

It was fine since I prefer to just relax and not have to socialize when getting my nails done. My only complaint is that everyone was being offered a drink, and neither her or the person who sat me asked me if i wanted a drink or water. Anyway, I did like how my nails came out. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and the outcome was similar to what I asked for. She ignored my request for no cutting of the cuticles (even after my usual lady let her know), filed my nails AND SKIN so hard it hurt, and ended up clipping my skin too close and leaving nail polish on the side of my nails! The color she applied was not the one I picked but similar enough I just let it go. This experience reminded me why I hate going to get my nails done. When I went to pay I found out she had upcharged me for a hand massage I didn't ask for or want and then an attitude when I asked why the price was different than all my other visits. I regret not requesting my usual nail tech but she was busy with another client. Unfortunately this experience was enough to deter me from returning.
