I was blown away by how busy they were on a random Thursday! (In a great way) I had to wait a few minutes but not long at all! The manager, Kevin, swept in and told me he'd be taking care of me because he didn't want me waiting any longer. Little did I know, that he would make my first time back so special and one I'll never forget. Kevin and his nail technicians made me feel so welcomed, so relaxed, so comfortable- everyone was really kind and adamant on taking care of not just me, but everyone at the salon. Knowing that Kevin was the owner and already feeling so comfortable- I immediately trusted him in what I envisioned for my nails. I showed Kevin a photo of the simple almond shaped nails I wanted- He said he could do those easily and quickly to get me in and out of there! He did so and in fact, 1000 times better than what I asked for. My nails looked exactly like the photo. Kevin knows what he's doing - He went on to chat with me during my appointment, tell me about his business, and even show me the tools and equipment they use at the shop that are HIS OWN BRAND I was blown away and felt honored to be getting my nails done by the OWNER himself Especially due to the fact he doesn't usually work on clients himself and is more so focused on running the business + providing support to his nail technicians as a whole. Needless to say, I reassured Kevin I'd be back and I couldn't thank him enough for the nails he blessed me with in SUCH a short amount of time. Kevin and every one of his nail techs at Nails of America Memorial, knows exactly what they are doing and will make sure your experience is incredible each and every time you visit them. I've been coming here for several years off and on and usually leave happy, but as if the infection wasn't bad enough.... The customer service has really gone downhill. It appears a bit messy up at the front & crowded at the desk with girls just hanging out. Their technicians (never the same) seem unsure& timid, and there is usually a lack of communication between the front desk and the technician that I have to clarify repeatedly, even though the only thing I ever get is a simple, classic mani no polish, buff and go; and maybe a basic gel pedicure. The prices also went up by at least $10 a service overnight, once the name switched. Previously, I had a $100 gift card from NOA that they would not honor. Why not? I understand ownership changed, but to not honor past gift cards for longer doesn't bode well for established clients. Another time, back in May , I was told the wait would be over 45 minutes for a mani, even though that area appeared completely empty. Ok - so I walked back out and across the street to Blush Salon and got a lovely manicure right away. I don't expect I'll be returning to Genova any time soon.

However, as I was leaving today, I noticed I hadn't received a receipt so I asked for one. When I got to my car and reviewed it, I saw I had been charged an extra $10 for a "nail fix." That was confusing to me because I came in for a builder gel set on my real nails and they had done my previous set as well. I went back inside to ask about it and was told by the manager that the charge was because I had partially removed the gel from two of my nails. I explained that the gel had started peeling after two weeks, so I removed part of it myself this morning knowing I was going to come get them fixed after work today. My main concern is not necessarily the $10 itself, but the lack of transparency. Three different employees assisted me today between my pedicure and gel set and at no point was I informed there would be an additional charge. When I asked why no one thought to alert me, I was told they "thought I knew." Very odd response for it only being my 3rd time. I was initially excited to find a new nail salon that provided good service and transparent pricing, but adding charges without communicating them beforehand (and then making excuses for the lack of communication) makes me reconsider returning

I did a chrome color - pricing was not disclosed prior to me choosing the Chrome either (Beware any add-on is charged. You are basically nickel and dimmed for every choice. My pedicure became an easy $100. Onto the quality of my nails. The quality was horrendous. The tech did not go all the way down to the cuticles so my fresh nails with a brand "new set" (I don't use tips and still got charged for a full set ) it looked like they were already a week old. After having the tech redo them to fix her mistake, they still look like shit. The tips of my nails are missing chunks of chrome. I'm not willing to walk back in there because this manicure and pedicure became an easy $215. I have never in my life paid that much for a simple pedicure and nail set. We came to Houston to try something new and expected it to be a little pricier, but I did not expect to give away my first born child. Nor did I expect to leave completely unsatisfied.

Im appalled because there was no other design. On top of that my appointment was at 1pm and I was already on my way and they wanted me to come in at 2pm, so I had to wait 35-40minutes to get seen. They were very kind and gentle with my grandmother which meant so much to me. They offered beverages to us, explained the different services that were offered, and truly made the experience feel like a spa experience--something I feel that many nail salons are missing nowadays. They also used cleaned & sanitized equipment, which is an essential! My only gripe was that my grandmothers nails messed up after she went to the restroom, I think they weren't completely dry. She just got regular polish and although she waited for about 15+ minutes I think she would have benefited from using a fan to assist with the drying. To my surprise, I got gel on my toes and one of my toes also chipped a day later--which has never happened to me with getting gel elsewhere. Despite this, I feel like the customer service & experience was very exceptional and I will most definitely be coming back because of that!
