I've had 2 very different experiences here due to the fact that they changed the hair stylist. I came here in September 2022 and had an amazing cut; I showed the stylist a couple of images & Tiktoks and she knew exactly what to do. She also styled my hair at the end and showed me how to curl my hair properly; overall, an amazing experience for $35. She was the only person in the salon and also the owner. In August 2023, I came here again for the same haircut and showed the same images & Tiktoks to another lady (not sure if she took over the place or not) but she took 1 look and confidently said she knew what she was doing. Homie did not know what she was doing. I was asking for long layers with face framing pieces but she made my hair look SO MESSY with uneven layers and chops. I'm not even sure how she made my front pieces look uneven. Then, she charged me $45 even though the sign at the front still said $35. 2/5 for a great first experience but horrible second experience. This place does terrible cuts! I'm leaving a review for a cut I got years ago. I came here for a simple cut, and I got my hair cut from the owner, Amy. I asked for a layered cut and she used this razor on my hair, literally shaving it short. She spent like 20 minutes at the end styling it and blowing it dry so it would look nice dried. I was pleased when I left and thought I got a good haircut. She is nice to talk to but I think she spends more time on the end styling the hair so it will look nice, then cutting it properly. I found this out when I took a shower the next day and my ends were no longer silky smooth, they were coarse and rough and frizzy and sticking out everywhere. I think she focuses on speed and creating a good relationship with the customer so they will come back, then doing really good quality haircuts. It took me a whole year after cutting my hair short to regrow my hair back. I will never come back here again. read more

I LOVEEEE this salon!!! I have been coming here since it opened. Unfortunately, I couldn't provide a better picture from the one I found on Google maps. Otherwise, the store is spacious, comfortable and clean! I am really comfortable with Amy cutting my hair, which is extremely rare (I've actually cried after getting a haircut once..). I usually give her a brief description of what I want, and she transforms my vision into something that reaally compliments my features. I also love that she uses scissors to layer my hair, unlike some salons that tug at it with a sharp blade. She spends about forty five minutes and applies nourishing oils to prevent split ends and hair damage afterwards. I always leave this salon happier and more confident about my appearance. :D Amy takes customers on reservation, so make sure to call in advance! WOW! I can't believe I found this gem! I normally don't like trying new places for haircuts but Amy put me at ease. I was unaware that I needed to make an appointment beforehand in order to get a haircut but Amy was able to work around her schedule to fit me right in. Amy did a great job with the haircut (16$, or 19$ with wash), and was quick. She made she to ask whether or not it was to my specification in order to quell any uneasiness about trying her place. Amy is super skilled in cutting hair, fun to talk to, and is totally proficient in English (makes a difference for those of us whose Chinese is nothing close to perfect, or those who can't speak Chinese at all!). She really LISTENS and will confirm back to you what she'll do, as well as inform you every step of the way what she's going to do. She is well versed in shape and texture, and will not give you the generic-Asian-salon cut. She did not overly thin out my hair. She fixed my bangs. She did not need to use thinning shears or razors to give me layers and texture -- She did everything with one good sharp pair of cutting shears and I could tell she knew exactly what she was doing. I moved to the sunset in July and decided it was finally time to find a salon and get a much needed haircut. Got a haircut here today and although it was a good haircut it was a bit shorter than what I asked for.. She straightened my hair so it looks good now but my hair is naturally curly so it's going to be even shorter than planned.. Minus another star for how hard she brushes my hair. My hair was already washed, conditioned and brushed and she was like bashed my head with the brush every single time. It's not like she was even in a rush because nobody else was there and she doesn't close until 7. She also brushed my earring and my necklace so my ear was bleeding after and I was choked... It was a really reasonable price for a cute haircut but I just wish she was more gentle and didn't cut it so short. read more

Typical asian salon. The lady was really nice and did a pretty good job. I got my hair trimmed, colored, and highlighted for 115$+20$ tip. I called that day and she was able to fit me in. While I was sitting around for the color to set in, she was saw 4 other clients. The place is really busy, which is a good sign. She seems to have a lot of repeat customers. The only thing that was a little off was that she didn't highlight my hair too the roots...but i guess thats healthier for my scalp. Still, would have liked it done all the way. read more

Amy is a professional hairdresser she can give you any type of short or long cut! I have been using her for over 6 years! And I am always super satisfied by the results! At the price, I'm not complaining but I'll be trying other salons before coming back. I was really glad she was able to fit me in, she seemed booked for most of the day. The haircut itself was mediocre. I asked her to clean up my layers and to fix my bangs which she did more or less. She didn't clean up the ends of my hair so I'll have to get it cut again soon and she took more out than I indicated. I traveled all the way to the salon because after reviewing it on Yelp it looks like they offered manicures and pedicures. I walked in and was greeted by two employees who were working on other customers at the time. I asked if they did manicures and pedicures. They told me no they did not. I expressed I was disappointed because yelp said that they did offer manicures and pedicures. They confirmed that indeed they do not provide that service. I thanked them and told them I would make a note on yelp so that other customers didn't waste their time and energy traveling all the way to their location just to be turned away and disappointed like I was. Not sure about their other services but I can tell you their menu of services online is not accurate! And thus I cannot recommend this establishment for anything. read more

Amy has been my hairstylist for about 6 years now. I drive 45 minutes just to see her. I always pick a style from the Asian Hairstyle book and and she can duplicate it, with ease. She also can add modifications so that the style works great with my hair. She is so talented and swift that I feel like I'm being treated by the famous Edward Scissorhands. read more

I've been going to Amy's since she was up a few blocks and up one more and now she finally has her own store. I've been going to her for 6 years! I'm a huge fan because she never over cuts. She's conservative with length. And if you think its still too long? She can always cut more. She knows what works for different hair textures and maintenance levels. Amy does a fantastic job with layers and doesn't use that bad razor scraping contraption. She gets busy on the weekends, so you have to call in advance. I found this place on yelp, and I have to say Amy really is as good as everyone says. I paid $25 for my haircut, and she spent an hour on me. She took her time, and did a great job. I asked for her to add some layers so my hair didn't look as weighed down, but keep the length. Most hairstylist seem to have problems with that request but she did exactly that. I'm very happy to find someone so close to home who does such good work. She has 18 years experience, and it shows. My hair is very long and very damaged and really needed a hair cut. Stopped by New Year's Eve day and Amy said she could fit me in at 3:30. Went there today with my niece for highlights and Amy did a really great job - exactly what I asked for in terms of highlights. While she worked, Amy's young son ran around the place shooting his toy gun and her older son was talking with her, so there are some distractions. We had an appointment but waited 20 minutes before we got started. There was a lot of hair on the floor under a couple of the customer chairs. Amy waited on other customers while my niece's hair was taking the color. Amy has a lot of talent and gave us exactly what we asked for. I love this place. I love my hair cut. I was worried about getting bangs since my last horrid memory of bangs were in grade school when the covered my eyes and made me look very scary. Yet, she did them the perfect length along with layers down to my shoulders as I'd asked. She seems to be the only one in the salon, so you might have to wait, and sometimes she has kids playing or running around. She's very nice though and gives good advice, and even offered disinfectants to my mom who'd trip walking over. So overall, to me $16 is a bargain well paid to transform my boring, down to my back hair into a cute, short, layered one. read more

I went to Image Beauty Salon on Noriega in San Francisco. I asked for their special $38/hr facial treatment. It was the best decision I had ever made in a long time. Not only was the people there nice, friendly and professional but the Esthetician is very good on massage as well.
