Dr. Kalika and his team fixed my crooked teeth and I cannot be happier. But I actually feel grateful not only for my new smile but also for a wonderful aftercare I received- After I was done with my treatment a permanent retainer was standardly placed on my lower teeth only. I guess I didn't do a good job wearing my removable retainers because my upper teeth ended up shifting a tad. Not by a lot but enough for small spaces to appear in between my front molars. To top it off, I broke my upper removable retainer. This actually was the worst- since I neither had a replacement nor a mold to make a new one. When I went for a follow up Dr. Kalika was extremely helpful and technical- he figured out a way to solve both issues- relapsed teeth were corrected and a new retainer mold was made. I now wear my retainers religiously. Dr. Kalika in a true orthodontic wizard and will take care of you not only during treatment but afterwards too. And that is precious. read more

I had a horrible experience with Image Orthodontics. Not only do the people that work there seem like they ALL hate their jobs, but I barely had face time with the Dr. Kalika. I felt very scammed by him and his business. He talks a big game and does a very good job of convincing (scaring) you that you need certain treatments that aren't actually necessary. Secondly, I did not get Invisalign and instead they treated me with another off brand, which was not stated when I signed the contact. Finally, there were A LOT of issues using my insurance and working with the financial office. The woman running it seemed to always be out and/or in a bad mood. She was not helpful nor responsive to myself or my insurance company. It was a headache every time I called, if she answered. Overall, I wish I would have gone with someone more legit, bonafide, and recommended doctor. I would not recommend Image Orthodontics to anyone. I was overcharged and underserved. I came in for an 8:30AM appointment, and she was smiling/joking/on her game, which is a refreshing way to start the day. Maybe I just fell through the cracks, but my care plan from here was filled with neglect and inconsideration. I had the briefest possible consultations with the doctors and never saw the same one twice, so obviously nobody was ever familiar with the specifics of my plan. The staff were nice enough for the most part (except one doctor who has a terrible bedside manner, forgetful, and borderline rude most of the time), but whatever administration system they used didn't work at all in the patient's favor and definitely left them severely lacking in care quality in my case. read more

This review is mostly for the practice manager, Monica. Went to Dr. Kalika for palatal expansion and Invisalign. Paid in full for a discount - big mistake. The first expander did not fit. 4 months of phone-tag pass and Dr. Kalika finally tries to sell me on a different expander. Fast forward another 4 months and he ultimately agrees to provide a full refund. Monica steps in the handle the refund and strung me along for over a YEAR. Hours spent on the phone on-hold or with front desk folks. She finally requested the refund, which took an additional 3 months. Any longer would have been illegal. These folks may have it (mostly) together technically but would avoid due to bad business practices. read more

I needed to have it re-glued since the composite had come loose from one of my teeth. Maricela did an awesome job reattaching it just like it was originally done six years ago. Overall, the experience has been really bad. 1. Days to Smile was sold to Image Orthodontics without patient knowledge. I was simply told one day that my doctor was unavailable. When I inquired further, I was told she was no longer with the practice as it had been sold. 2. The Pacific Heights location caters largely to children and adolescents (this was not shared with me when my appointment was made here instead of the Post street location) and is surprisingly bad for the neighborhood. The space is small with no barriers between each patient station which means if your teeth are being scanned or you're having a discussion with the doctor at one station, a patient six chairs down can both see and hear you. 3. Customer service at the Pacific Heights location is very bad as has been mentioned in other reviews (I would start with the lowest). As my teeth were being scanned, another employee gossiped with the person scanning my teeth during the process meaning this person was standing over my head during this time and deeply distracting the scanner. She even laughed at this fact. 4. The doctor is nice but seems to disregard your aesthetic goals. In discussion with him, he remarked "no one even sees anyone's bottom teeth". As I remarked that I saw his during our conversation, embarked on an Invisalign journey becAuse of my bottom teeth and did not spend thousands of dollars for Invisalign to have poorly aligned bottom teeth, a staff member remarked "she didn't even pay for it, her insurance paid for it". His response was " no one will really notice, they look aligned from inside your mouth. Very odd and absolutely unacceptable. 5. In my visit prior to the last, I remarked to the doctor that a tooth needed to be filed in order to properly track with the aligner to which he responded "no, I think it's fine". In the subsequent visit (after the liner did not track properly as expected) he said "yes, I agree, it does need to be filed". Again, odd. I have been shocked and very disappointed at the behavior of the staff and work quality of the orthodontist. Again, I did not select this practice. The practice under which I was a patient was sold to Image Orthodontics without patient notification. I was even more shocked that Dr. Kalika thought it appropriate to ignore patient concerns and disregard aesthetic appearance in use of a product that was designed almost entirely to achieve a patient's desired aesthetic outcome. I would not select this practice had the practice I'd been apart of not been sold to Image Orthodontics. I would certainly not bring my child here. I have seen patients with Invisalign via other dentists and orthodontists who have had much higher quality experiences and results. Note that the website, instagram, yelp, etc has pictures of the doctor with patients and yet no before and after photos. The doctor seems nice and friendly enough which gave me high hopes but for a permanent change, nice enough is not...enough. read more

Dr. Kalika is very nice, and so is Dr. Horrii. They totally listened to me and my goals. Dr. LaChicca is another story. She trampled over what I was saying, very pushy, and even rude. I refuse to go to her, but the other docs are great and my oral surgeon actually reccomended Dr. Kalika (which is saying a ton since my surgeon is AMAZING; Dr. Tolstunov if you ever need good surgery, wishdoms/whatever, that's your guy). Anyhow, they have an excellent staff too, the assistentsand front line staff are amazingly sweet and accomodating (Sandra rocks!!) :) Just make sure to see Dr. Kalika first, the Dr. LaChicca chick is just too young and inexperienced to be honest (I think she was afraid to take my case!) Dr. Kalika and Dr. Horii both have some remarkable backgrounds -- I recently found that Dr. Kalika is a Berkeley and Yale grad?! Wow, that takes work. Dr. Horii is just older and smart -- you can tell. :) Plus he has kids and understands how to be gentle and accomodating. Anyhow, I had an open-bite, severe crowding (my eye teeth were behind my front teeth pretty much), a ridiculously tiny malformed palette, and my bite only touched on one side. I've been turned away by at least 4 orthodontists. I was so sad about the situation with my mouth that I really gave up. Thank god for my oral surgeon and his reccomendation to just "try out Dr. Kalika... he's the best". I spent $4k (after insurance; plus they financed at 0% for 2 years). I have had my "clear" braces on for 3.5 years... and I never had to do the upper palette surgery other ortho's demanded. Dr Kalika & Dr Horii worked together to re-sculpt my jaw and face... I look like a different person. All their work was done by hand -- they never used anything hi-tech (besides their mega-smart brains). At the age of 24 my palette should have been hardened and impossible to fix. But these guys create miracles. Because of all this, I am forever grateful. I have even brought in my two nieces who will be getting braces through his office. $4k for my self-esteem and a wonderful smile -- who'd of thought?!?!
